Went to the rooftop for brunch and it was fabulous. I got the Bloody Mary and Mediterranean salad with salmon. Both were delicious, also loved the cute macaws and Tucan on the first floor!

We're giving this a 3-star review solely because of our previous experience with our server, Jamie. The first time we dined here was incredible--so much so that we made the effort to drive out of town to come back for a special date night. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to that experience at all. The service tonight wasn't even comparable. When our server finally came to the table, I tried to order fries I thought I had before. Realizing I was mistaken, I showed him a photo of what I meant. He said he knew what I was referring to but mentioned there would be an upcharge since they were from the happy hour menu--which I was completely fine with. What we were served, however, was extremely disappointing. The fries were drenched in an overwhelming amount of sauce--to the point where they were essentially inedible. It was surprising they were even sent out that way. Our server wasn't helpful in addressing the issue, and overall the service felt inattentive and disengaged. The entire experience felt uncomfortable rather than enjoyable. The food was average at best, and the service fell short. Jamie truly set the standard during our first visit--he's one of the best servers we've ever had, and he made the entire experience memorable. If he had been there tonight, this would easily be a 5-star review. Even with average food, he elevates the experience.

We came to the rooftop vibes and left happy and full! Such a beautiful restaurant nestled amongst other restaurants and lounges with the entrance presenting 2 live parrots and a toucan! They were sitting beautifully with their cage wide open and snacking on fresh fruit. As you walk upstairs to the rooftop you're greeted with a hostess who seats you and hands you menus. The sun was shining beautifully and our waiter set up the umbrellas to shade our table. We enjoyed cocktails and some appetizers. The samosas were perfectly crispy and warm with a zesty dipping sauce. The calamari was tasty and came with a side of sweet potato fries. We did think the calamari could've been crispier. We also had the seafood salad that had a hefty amount of seafood, from large shrimps and scalps to thin slices of calamari. The salad came with two sides of dressing but already had a citrus vinaigrette drizzled on top and it was perfect as is. For our lunch we ordered the salmon and periperi prawns that were cooked to perfection! The salmon was grilled and moist on the inside. The prawns grilled perfectly and sweet. We couldn't get enough of the steamed veggies that came on the side, so much that we ordered an additional side of steamed veggies. Overall we were very pleased with this restaurant and can't wait to come back!

This establishment gets 5 stars just for the amazing service! From the valet to the hostess and the waiter, every staff at Mozambique was super friendly and accommodating. We came during lunch to celebrate a birthday and the hostess downstairs noticed the cake we were holding and offered to keep it in the fridge. At the end of our meal, the waitstaff brought out the cake with fresh plates with utensils and candles. We were in a seafood mood so only got seafood dishes from the menu. Was expecting more bold African flavor but the food we got didn't have that oomph. They were nonetheless enjoyable and the seafood tasted fresh. The rooftop area is very nice and the umbrellas cover practically every corner so no matter where you sit, you are protected. Would love to come back during sunset time to soak in the view.

WOW! I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while now and it was worth the wait. Valet parking at a reasonable rate. The building has three different sections with different names, themed for what one is looking for... for example... the live music area is called... Ivan'z House Live Music Club. There's a rooftop area that is also a different name, all are part of Mozambique. We went on a Friday and it was packed. We were sat in one of their private rooms that overlook the downstairs main area. The room was intimate and much quieter than the main dining room. The whole place has a great vibe to it. Walking in, you are greeted with a huge bird cage with exotic birds. The decor is really cool and the smells of the food make one instantly hungry to try everything. The service was prompt and the staff was very kind. Now... the food. Absolutely delicious. The menu has a variety of tempting items on it, however, I wanted to try the South African food and it did not disappoint. We had somosas as an appetizer and I had the South African pie. My husband had the steak and lobster. Everything tasted amazing. We ended with a delectable dessert and a cappuccino. Afterward, we went to the bar and saw the live band setting up. Also, a cool place with a nice stage. We will definitely be back and bring the family. Thank you Mozambique for a great night.

We came for Valentine's Day lunch and had a wonderful time. Reservations were easy to make. Rooftop seating with a view is first come but we got lucky and group just left. We tried the sample plate for 2, south African pie, and pork chop. Everything was delicious. The peri peri chicken was a bit spicy if you have children with you. But they are very kid friendly to my surprise for being a trendy spot. They gave a coloring page and crayons. Staff was nice. The vibes were great. The food was delicious and the view was nice.

A very nice lunch on the upper terrace. Food was amazing! We had the sampler for two, blueberry coco mojito, day spa cocktail and Portuguese butter pudding. Jamie T. provided impeccable service which is very hard to get these days. Free parking on site. I highly recommend this establishment!

Mozambique's rooftop sunset dining experience is an excellent choice for our large group, especially with the great ocean views over Laguna Beach. Kudos to the staff for trying their best to accommodate our request to have more shade before the sun set. We enjoyed the shareable options--small plates, seafood, and hearty entrées. Service is attentive and organized even though it was busy. I had food coma. And I'm not complaining.

Ambiance- rooftop is great with sea view! Went for brunch. I feel it will be extremely romantic for sunset dinner view. Food- order the sample platter, highly recommended for first timers. The periperi prawn is amazing! The samosas are really good!!! Peri peri chicken skewer is very good as well!! The African potpie is sumptuous! Service- very attentive.

My friend and I went for a fancy dinner together because we had never dressed up and wanted to roleplay lol. The food was yummy, the prices were honestly pretty good, it was right by the beach so it was beautiful and very fun. We went at night so we couldn't see much, but during the day or a night with a full moon would be spectacular. The waiter also was very nice and let me try a sample of the wine before I ordered which I appreciated since I'd never really tried wine. The french fries here, the spicy ones were sooo good definitely try those. There was also a dancing area downstairs!!?? We didn't get a chance to try it out since it was closing, but we're making plans to go back and try it!

Laguna Beach: South African fare at this very large, unique restaurant with a rooftop that allows you to gaze on that beautiful Pacific Ocean. Wonderful ambience and plenty of heaters to dine comfortably on those rare cold nights. Fixed $ Valet parking only unless you can find a space on the streets. We came too late for Happy Hour, but definitely worth getting there early because the menu looked fabulous. There were so many choices for HH which drew us there, but we managed to find plenty of alternatives off the regular menu. Halal choices. Peri-Peri Chicken was very delicious with some spicy sauces on the side. The Portobello Mushroom stack was tender and devoured in no time. Very unique culinary delight. The Beet Salad was a great addition to our non-happy hour dinner. Service was perfect with just enough attention. The place is worth ambling about with their three stories and seating for 750. Of course it's a special delight to see the beautiful parrots and toucan as you enter. Lovely place off PCH.

Came here to celebrate a birthday! Service was pretty friendly and overall the inside was very cozy (rooftop was closed due to weather). The building layout is kind of confusing, however. Food was delicious! And the drinks were STRONG. My only complaint is that the charcuterie board could have been better. I loved the seafood curry! Great spot for a special occasion.

This place is huge, beautiful, and great for big groups. We had a party of 20 with a reservation and were seated in their patio area on the ground floor. I know there is a rooftop, but it was already occupied by another party. Their patio was also very pretty though! Our servers were all kind and attentive for our big group and the food was delicious! They have happy hour on the weekend starting at 3pm, which is what we mostly ordered from. They also allowed us to store our cake in the freezer and they charge a $2pp cake fee. Their peri peri sauce is so good! They serve it on fries, chicken, and prawns. We were ordered most of the dishes on the happy hour menu and enjoyed it all, from the calamari, wings, wild fries, samosas, salmon, halibut, South African pie. Great drinks too! We went with a South African Chardonnay that was really good. This is a great place to celebrate with a big group!

This time however begining with the glasses of water that were promptly brought out. Our first reaction, all 6 of us was abject disgust at the taste of the iced water. It had an ultra strong moldy taste and odor and awful aftertaste like used dishwater or that it had been filtered through old, crusty, dirty filthy gym socks. The entire water service, all 6 glasses was unbelievably nauseously stale. No amount of lemon could eradicate the smell and taste of sewer water? We asked for bottled water but we were informed that there wasn't any available. I also ordered iced tea with the thought that the tea would be made with the same disgusting Pliny Beach tap water. I'm a Vietnam veteran and i have experienced some really awful water before but this was absolutely the worst I've ever tasted. GROSS! It was enough to gag a maggot. I might suggest either install a reverse osmosis filter or if there is one already, thoroughly replace the filter and clean the algae and mold out of it with bleach. The awful water put a bit of a damper on the rest of the meal. I had asked for a baked potato with the toppings be served on the side along with some Worcestershire sauce for the potato. It took three (3) requests over fifteen minutes to finally have a container of Worcestershire sauce brought to the table. By the time I was able to prepare the potato, the broccoli and carrot side had gone cold. The steaks were acceptable but not of the same quality as we all remembered from past ELDO visits. We had an appetizer of fried zucchini and two big Pretzles which were served hot fresh and tasty. My main issue was quality of the water. GAWDAWFUL does not EVEN begin to describe that HORRIBLE experience.

I wouldn't expect to be so stunned by mushrooms of all things (I can only think of one other time and beer batter was involved then) but they're wonderfully seasoned and have unexpected crunchy bits. We completely cleaned the plate, scooping up all the spaghetti squash accompaniment. Our mains were also delicious, a fava bean and a lamb entree with cabbage and lentils as the sides.
