Our contractor recommended Greg at Mosaic Tile and it was without a doubt the most productive hour we had during the entire renovation process. With Greg's guidance, we made so many decisions so quickly. I don't have an eye for a design so I hate when designers say "It's really personal choice" or "what do you like?" Greg has opinions - in the best possible way - and isn't afraid to share them. He will give you a few choices and tell you which one he thinks is best. If you want something different, he very quickly finds a few more choices. He helped us select tile for backsplash, tile and accents for bathroom, and fireplace. None of it would have turned out nearly as well without Greg's help. Will definitely be going back when I update the next bathroom! I should have written this five years ago when the addition to my Old Town Alexandria house was completed. This is a two-fold review. 8/2013 $10K spent on tile and grout for a master bedroom, master bath, entire kitchen, living area, laundry room and half bath. Worked with the most amazing designer, Ana Laserna. So many incredible choices i wished i had 10 bathrooms and bedrooms to decorate (my budget said otherwise). Still, this was a very sizeable spend for me. I was beyond thrilled with my choices, thanks to Ana. Service, response time, quality and pricing - all outstanding. 2/2019 A sizeable part of my master bath shower grout on the floor and walls had changed from the "Light Smoke" to WHITE. Couldn't figure it out. No amount of cleaners would fix it. On 2/2, I called Mosaic Tile in Chantilly and the most knowledgable woman, Jen, answered the phone. I had all my original receipts (yes, one of those and it has been a blessing) and described my dilemma. She knew immediately what had happened and knew that the Cement Grout Glaze Remover would fix it. She was so helpful and Mosaic Tile is fortunate she works for them. Unfortunately, driving to Chantilly from Old Town is like a full day trip. Jen struck gold again. There is also a Mosaic Tile in Alexandria, 15 minutes from me. She even went into the computer and saw they had two in inventory. Off i flew, since they closed in 30 minutes. Well, i learned WHY my grout had turned white. My lousy contractor ( who will remain unnamed becuase I still have issues with them, five years after the fact) put too much water in the grout and this caused it to discolor. Didn't surprise me they had made the mistake. Super Bowl Sunday. Time to test this out on a portion of the shower floor. I've attached a picture of my "before" floor. I was lucky to work with Gregory at Mosaic. After looking at roughly a million samples of tile elsewhere, I gave him a general idea of what I wanted and he had samples pulled when I arrived at the showroom. This made it so easy to make decisions on the tile as well as the many other bits and pieces that go along with a tile project. I also really valued his design opinions. Mosaic's 'quick ship' model was absolutely vital during these covid supply chain challenged times and since I was working on a short timeline. We were looking to remodel 2 bathrooms. We had some general ideas of what we wanted to do. But, we thought it best to speak with a trained designer. Since we were familiar with Mosaic, we decided to work with them. Our designer was Greg. He was excellent. He listened to our ideas and asked questions to further refine our search. From the vision that was formed, he provided various ideas to consider. Although he provided a variety of suggestions, he was never pushy. Just the perfect balance. Greg was very patient as we navigated through the process. His "bedside manner" was wonderful...very kind and enjoyable to be with. We would highly recommend him. The selection at Mosaic is also very good. Their prices may be slightly higher than some of the other stores. But, since you're not directly paying for the designer's services, it's worth every penny. Also, the quality of the tile may be a cut above their competitors. Also, working with the store warehouse was a good experience. Jeff and the team were helpful and responsive. The 2 reasons we didn't give them 5 stars: 1. Although when the order for the floor tiles for one of the bathrooms was made, the system indicated the tile was available, it ended up not being available. We didn't find this out until when our contractor picked up the order. Since that tile wasn't going to be available for several months, we had to scramble to find a comparable tile. Fortunately we were able to find a comparable product at a competitors store. But, it caused us to have to flip the order of doing the two bathrooms, which caused us to be without a shower for about 10 days. This could have been averted if we had been sooner. This was no fault of Greg's, since he wasn't informed by the administrative staff of this being an issue. I think the issue was an anomaly for which Greg was very apologetic. 2. They will only take returns if you have 2 or more full boxes left over. Some other stores will allow you to return one full box. All told, I would highly recommend going with Mosaic. They have a fantastic showroom, great staff inside the showroom and quality products available for purchase. The turn around time is pretty quick and we're excited to use the tile we bought in our renovation. My wife works at an architecture firm and said this place has many of the brands they spec, which are noted for their quality. The pick up process is less than glamorous. Beware of the lack of signage. I guess you're supposed to drive around back and just sit in your car conspicuously and hope that someone notices you, otherwise you will be accused of stealing the very expensive tile you just bought. Story below if you care to read. I was informed to "go around back" and the tile is ready for loading. So, I go around back only to find a warehouse line up if retractable garage doors in bays.... I guess that the open bay meant that was the correct one. No signage, no direction. I back up to align the vehicle for loading. I spend about 5 minutes arranging the trunk of our SUV so that I can fit the tile in. I then turn around and see a forklift with tile on a palette, on which is a receipt with my name on it. There were no workers in sight so I figured I had to do the loading.... I begin to load MY tile onto MY vehicle when I hear a very rude shout "sir are you sure that is YOURS?!" As if someone thinks I'm stealing. I suppose I can see that optic, as it is an unmarked warehouse, completely unhelpful, no direction on what to do once you happen on the right bay, etc. So I say, yes, this paper has my name on it. I get a return shout from a guy who appears to be at a desk in a very dimly lit corner of this warehouse, and I see that my wife is with him, all of which I did not notice before (again no sign denoting "please proceed to desk for pickup" which could have avoided this displeasure). This time he exclaimed "how can you be sure you're getting the right material?!" This time with a flair that was very sarcastic and totally unprofessional. So, I return to him some sarcasm and state "well there has been no one here to greet me so I could only assume the items with my name on them are mine." Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, as a customer service professional would, he states with a laugh "that's what this desk is for," as if I should have known all along. I truly felt age discriminated and made to feel absolutely dumb and disrespected, even though I was the one that just paid them over $700 for product. read more

We recently renovated our kitchen and 2 baths. We scheduled a few appointments with Malou and she was able to pull out tiles that both me and my husband loved. Their tile can be pricey if it's not in stock (shipping from Italy mostly), but they have tiles that can fit every budget. Remember to call ahead to make an appointment if you want their attention since they are extremely busy. We'll be back when we need more tiles for our future projects! Good selection of tile, terrible customer service. We requested a Saturday appointment a week prior because our contractor requested we buy tile here. Saturday comes and no response about the appointment. We show up, since the store is open, to find 3 sales women, 2 of whom are helping other customers. After wandering around for half an hour, the third sales woman decided she could finally help us with an estimate and acted very put out the whole time. Again, really good variety of tile, but the women who work here are pretty useless. read more

We are redoing our third bathroom and the personnel at Mosaic have been extremely helpful--for assistance and advice-- and as problem solvers. Barbara and Mahlu have kept me informed about floor tile that was delayed in customs; Mahlou constantly updated me on the status and let me know as soon as the order had arrived. Both Barbara and Mahlou have helped order and match stone soap dishes for the tiled walls and were especially helpful with citing options offering advice for finishing other than with a bullnose --when our bullnose was no longer available. The showroom is very nice with attractive displays and a wide array of tile possibilities. The associates are knowledgeable and helpful. Call ahead and make an appointment because they do get busy. You will be assisted and allowed to browse and ask questions. You will not be pressured to place an order before you are ready. Tito and Jeff in the warehouse are very helpful, too. There seems to be teamwork with the showroom personnel and the warehouse personnel. Through this process, Barbara and Malou have made me feel my order is always important--no matter how small. This is the most unprofessionally run business I have encountered throughout my entire master bathroom renovation. I've worked with countless contractors/subcontractors and had a better/more professional experience with all of them over working with the Mosaic Tile at the Merrifield location. 1. Their ordering process is a mess. We were working on a rather large project (master bathroom), so we ordered our tile in segments: floor tile, then shower tile, then accent wall and trim pieces. Each time we called to place an order the rep who would answer my call for order would start an entirely new purchase order. This got really messy as it would take them 10 minutes with me on the phone to figure out which order was the initial Purchase Order I needed to order off of. 2- Their "in-stock" tile still requires a 24 hour notice. They're closed on Sundays and Orders on Saturdays have to be placed before noon.. This set us back several times with the contractors. The Tile Shop just down the street has their tile actually IN STOCK for immediate pick up.. I recommend them instead (and to work with a gentleman named Shahid who will give you great discounts). 3- I was told if my contractor called in to verify who he was, I would get a 10% Contractor's discount on my project. I got 10% off the first order but by the 2nd order the manager suddenly decided this "wasn't something they typically do"- but then why offer it and apply it to part of my order??? 4- The BIG mistake... that happened THREE times. A few days after I had completed all of my tile orders, I got a few alert messages from my Credit Card for suspicious activity. I looked at my account and noticed Mosaic Tile charged an additional $4,200 on my card and then another $58!! I called and left a message to have Jennifer (my sales rep) call me first thing Monday morning. Monday afternoon came and no call so I called again. The woman who answered said Jennifer was "busy" but that she could assist. She looked through all of my orders but said she didn't see any additional charge for the $4,200 or $58 AND she couldn't even tell that I'd picked up my previous orders!! She said she'd have a manager call me back, of course, he never did. Several hours later I called back, the woman said she spoke with the manager and they didn't see any charges so she suggested I dispute with my bank. Of course, I did. The bank immediately issued my refund.I called mosaic back to let them know my bank would be in touch as I've now disputed the charges. Finally, Mosaic admitted they over charged my card but not a single call from Jennifer or a manager and absolutely ZERO apologies for the over $4,200 mistake! And I should say, I was REALLY NICE and understanding about it.. I work in sales, too, so I get it that mistakes happen- but an apology is just customer service 101. It gets worse. Now I have a block on my card in the midst of a major renovation- a HUGE inconvenience. Still, nothing offered by the Mosaic Tile as consolation for their massive mistake. No discounts offered, no credit back, not even a call to apologize. I had left over tiles after the job was complete and went in to get my refund. I asked to speak with the manager so, Matt came out. I introduced myself and he immediately said he was out-of-office when my ordeal happened- still, no apologies. I told him I had extra tiles to return. I also had a few extra sheets from a box I had ordered and was hoping to return those too. He said he won't return the sheets but, at best, offered to accept my FULL BOX returns.. (obviously?? ) I reminded him that he caused quite the headache and set-back in the midst of my renovation but he barely gave an apology, still. Instead, he boldly admitted they had put my card on file under a different client and charged her tile on my card. He then had the nerve to ask me to drop the dispute with my bank and allow him to process the refund directly. I declined this for two reasons: 1) I was already refunded by the bank and 2) Given their lack of customer service, I really didn't trust him to not mess up again. July Fourth day.... I check my account and there's ANOTHER CHARGE for $158. I called Mosaic and their corporate this time. Matt just called me today (Wed morning), to say sorry but apparently the client (who has MY card on THEIR file) ordered some more tile and they ran it on my card again! At this point, I was no longer nice. They've charged over $4,500 of miscellaneous charges on my card.... that's credit card theft. Why Matt even bothered to call is beyond me. He offered NOTHING to make up for this massive mistake. After dealing with over $4,500 of fraudulent charges and still NO consolation offered, I deem this company exceptionally unprofessional and would never recommend them to anyone. Customer service when you are making a purchase means nothing. True customer service is shown when handling a crisis or problem. In this case, Mosaic has TERRIBLE service. read more

Fortunately (because otherwise I would not have met Barbara), my contractor couldn't send me to any of his tile people at that time, so I had to find someone on my own. I called Mosaic Tile, Fairfax, asking for an appointment with a rep, and was referred to Barbara Mion. The moment I met with Barbara, I knew I was in good hands. Barbara is from Italy, the country of the top design and tile, and I thought that I could count on some of that Italian style if I worked with her. I was correct! Not only was Barbara friendly and professional, she was also very knowledgable and had a great taste. She took her time listening to my needs and wrote detailed notes. She kept showing the tiles, that she thought would go well with the style of my house (including the one that were on sale, that I ended up buying), until I was completely satisfied and happy with the selection and price. She lent me samples for as long as I needed them and even came before the opening of the showroom to accommodate my needs.
