Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, cool employees. There is no detail forgotten at this restaurant, from the comic-plated tabletops to the garnishes on the drinks. Went there for the second time tonight with my husband and had a wonderful time. Our waitress was insightful and honest about her opinions regarding the ramen options on the menu, which resulted in ordering a delicious ramen. The tantán is fabulous but very hot and not for those with sensitive tummies. The pork ramen was delicious and full of flavor! However the winner was the pork buns. I'm not a big ramen fan (gasp!!!!) So when I went to Moshi Moshi with a coworker I tried their Dan Dan noodles. The noodles were delicious and the sauce had a kick to it. There was plenty of ground pork in the dish and it came with a poached egg and lots of scallions on top. First of all, our server was spectacular, and the negatives in this review do not reflect them. Menu listed gluten free and vegan options. I ordered the vegan ramen with gluten free noodles. When I ordered mushrooms to add, which were listed as gluten free, I was informed that there's a chance of contamination, so not gluten free. Very disappointing, as mushrooms are delicious and would have made the dish more hearty. Our food was delivered, the person stated "celiac," the other order at our table was correct, but my ramen clearly had an egg on top. I asked the person delivering about it, because I had ordered the vegan ramen, she stated "it's not vegan there's fish sauce in it." I was in a panic, looking at my food that I couldn't eat. She said she'd get my server- but left the food there *as if I'd gotten my order wrong.* After a while, our server came around and acknowledged that I'd received someone else's food and mine should be delivered shortly. The dessert "LIME AND MANGO NO-BAKE tropical citrus and mango with agave on a cashew crust" was so not worth the price of $8. I expected something colorful with light, bright flavor, and instead received a small bland square. Ugh. Mochi is also $3 for each bite- seems overpriced. We have had Moshi Ramen Bar in our dining out/delivery rotation for a few years. I understand that one visit isn't a trend but our most recent visit maybe our last for a while. Our server clearly didn't want to be there and her attitude towards us showed. It took a while for our drinks to come from the bar, the bartender was hustling churning out tasty craft cocktails. I ordered a second cocktail half way through my first (due to the delay) and was told by our server I had to wait until I finished the one I had. Seriously. I told her in a lighthearted tone that I would like another and some water for the table. 20 minutes later my drink came. My son's beer while ordered at the same time as the rest of the table came after my second cocktail. Water came near the end of the meal. Speaking of the meal the small plates, the takoyaki seemed to be light on the octopus but the remainder of the apps were ok. My wife's noodles were closer to uncooked rather than al dente but the broth was uninspiring . I had kotteri tonkotsu and it was not the star of the meal as it usually was. I got 2 thin sliced pieces of pork and a lackluster broth. Our experience wasn't all bad there was a gentleman (expediter?) who did a great job of filling the gaps of our server. So the food was good & the ambiance was good, I thought it was cute on the inside. The people who sat us were lovely and accommodating for our group of 8 but our server... really ruined the experience for us. Her boyfriend was sitting in the seats to the back right of us and he was clearly such a distraction that we - my friend asked for a straw 3 times before she got one - i asked for a refill 3 times and NEVER got one - she completely forgot to put in my friends food order, who we literally went there to celebrate - she charged me for the wrong meal I'm just really disappointed because if you can't handle your job with your boyfriend there, don't let him distract you while you are SERVING people who are PAYING quite a bit of money to eat here. We're a family of 6 and most restaurants have been able to accommodate our family, but here they were not able too which is fine. The girls and I sat across from my son and hubby. Menu is digital, sorry my peeps no pictures of it but I hope you all enjoy the pictures of our !!!! The pink lemonade is really good, the tea has a nice flavor; could have been a stronger for my taste. The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfect! Crispy but tender, I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese but it was good and the toasted pepitas gave it a nice added church. Next time I will order it without the goat cheese and the sauce that comes on top was spicy hot not sweet basically taste like red hot sauce to me. The teriyaki sauce, not their house teriyaki taste like soy sauce mixed with teriyaki the kids weren't the biggest fan of it. Hubby liked his Beef yakisoba, the kids really enjoyed their ramen too! Overall for our first experience here the staff was wonderful, helpful explaining the menu choices and was a breath of fresh air!!!! The kitchen staff seemed very knowledgeable at plating items and getting our food out to us quickly, which is a wonderful change of pace; no one appreciates food sitting under a heat lamp. Typically I've had to ask other restaurants to serve our meals has they come up instead of waiting for everything but not at this restaurant There are many more items I would like to try so we will definitely be returning! I really liked this restaurant. It's cute inside and looks like it could be in a neighborhood in Tokyo. We didn't have to wait long on a Friday night which was great. We started off with the fried chicken which was really yummy. We were able to have about two pieces each among three people. It came with a tasty sauce and some pickled vegetables. I had the pork ramen. It was delicious. The broth was yummy and the pork in the ramen was some of the best I've had. The noodles were excellent. The whole thing was really filling and tasty. We were definitely not impressed with this place. It is very dark, which makes it difficult to read the menu and socialize with your group. The waiter seemed nice enough but we had to ask for every single little thing. We'd have to ask for water, he'd fill up one cup but ignore another cup next to it. We had to ask for straws. We had a baby with us and asked for hot water to make formula with and we received lukewarm water not capable of heating anything up. It never feels good to have to ask for so many things because it makes us feel like we re nagging. Our orders were mixed up, we asked for extra pork chasu on a few bowls and it took a few tries to get it (we had finished the ramen by then), we were told that it was sent to a table and sent back, BUT the waiter never bothered to check up on us to make sure we got it and that everything was okay. The ramen itself was mediocre, very little depth and complexity to the broth. The pork chasu itself was delicious and had a great smokey flavor, but anyone who knows anything about ramen knows that the broth and subtle tenderness of the noodles are king. The chicken karaage was pretty good, the pickled veggies on the side were excellent, but not enough of a reason to bring us back. We were charged $40 for "open food," when my sister who placed the reservation was specifically told it would be waived. If we were under a spending limit for a large party it would have been nice if they notified us of that and we would have happily ordered more drinks or appetizers to meet that quota. Alas, we were told nothing and didn't see it until we went home and reviewed the charges. We went here to celebrate my little sis graduating business school with honors, and it broke my heart that this is how we commemorated her achievement. If you like this restaurant, great, but I think you can get better value and quality elsewhere in Tacoma. read more

If you have had ramen outside of moshi moshi, you know exactly what I am talking about. To call this place a ramen house, it lacks the usual flair of extra sauces, other ingredients (like corn!), and the noodles just did not cut it. My noodles should not be stuck together like glued rice. My ramen looked sad with the poached egg looking so dry. However the thick slices of pork belly made up for it. My friend had ordered the cauliflower rice bacon dish and the karaage. Both were delicious! Loved the added pickled avocado to the dish. The higher score for this establishment is reflected from these two dishes. It's nice to have a ramen place in Tacoma now, but it disappoints when you know what is missing. Both times that I've been to Moshi Moshi this past month have been such a treat. Each time we went with a group of four and shared as many small plates as we could handle and every single thing that we ordered was delicious. Some highlights for me were the kimchi fries, the Brussels sprouts, the smoked salmon wontons, and the hyunh dumplings. Every plate comes out so fresh and full of flavor! The vibe is lowkey, we loved that they were watching The Lost Boys on the TV in the bar on our second visit. The service is warm and friendly and quick - they've also been helpful when we couldn't decide between multiple options and when I asked for a mocktail option during happy hour (they can make virtually any drink into a mocktail if you just ask nicely!) Overall this place was okay. The "yakisoba" was far from it being what it claimed on being. Well over dressed with so much sauce and mayo, that it over powered the whole dish itself. It did surprisingly became better as a leftover meal as the noodles seemed to soak up more of the sauce, so that's a plus! Granted i by passed not seeing any veggies mentioned being in it from reading the menu, so that was my fault for expecting some. Then again all other yakisoba I've had had tons of veggies in it is this was definitely the first. I ordered the shio ramen. I was pretty watered down. I think I'm too spoiled from Tokyo-ya Ramen in Fed Way when it comes to bomb ass ramen. Granted it had great toppings: juicy chicken, big green bok choy, green onions, tiny fish cakes, a soft boiled egg, and sprinkled on some seasons. Did had to ask for extra spices to help with the flavor of the ramen, even though it did, it just seemed too bland for my liking. My boyfriend got the tan tan ramen which I liked more than my own ramen. We also got the miso glazed green beans and the loaded kimchi fries which i wasn't about to snap a pic of, but as you guessed it well over dressed. So we couldnt finish it amongst the 5 of us. I'll probably try this spot again if I ever feel like it, since I always like to give a place at least two tries before I know if I like the place or not. I was here last night for a light dinner. I ordered the Szechuan Chili Dumplings and a side order of Miso Soup. I was pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were. The spice level on the dumplings was at a reasonable level; it added to the flavor profile of the dish withiut over taking everything else. This place would be 5 stars if it wasn't so pricey. They have a pretty decent happy hour but several of their ramen get up to $15, which is a lot. I got their cheapest one, the standard Tonkotsu, which was $12. I have to say that I've tried a lot of ramen and this one is definitely ranked up there for their Tonkotsu. Also, the gyoza is delicious! It has this amazing spice on it and one side is grilled to give part of it a crunch. Definitely get it. It's 25% off on happy hour. The location is great too so close to the harbor where there are a lot of pokestops! And the service was amazing and friendly. Very underwhelmed. I know a lot of people in the food industry and everyone has said that I need to try Moshi Moshi. I am a Japanese American, so I take Japanese and Asian food very seriously. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen because it's just a standard try for all ramen places and it was ok. The broth wasn't anything special and the noodles could've been a little firmer. I will say the chashu and the egg were great! Tons of flavors in those. I added gai lan too and it was hard. I got more stalks than leaves. It says there's a yuzu butter of some kind and I taste zero yuzu. The dish just isn't as complex as it comes off in the description. Very disappointed to say the least. My husband ordered the miso ramen and said, "it was the blandest ramen I've ever had". I'm sure your average white person would like this place. I would like to try something else another time in the off chance it was just an off day, but so far I'm not impressed. read more

Bonus, they deliver! The inside is very cute and inviting. There's even a few bar stool seats which I like for when I'm working through lunch. The tables aren't huge so it's tough for bigger groups but you can make it work. I really love the spam musubi and the kimchi fries! Non attentive, more concerned about turning tables then how you are doing. Thought id try my luck with pickup. The pork ramen is great but the yakisoba should not be missed! So many different flavors

I was confused with the food. The beef skewers are listed as wagyu, yet our server introduced them as bulgogi. First, bulgogi is korean, not Japanese. Second, there was nothing "bulgogi" about it. The beef was cooked perfectly, and the pear sauce was a perfect compliment and tasty enough to dip our karaage into. The kimchi was awful. It sadly remained on the plate, undesired. The chicken karaage, was common, nothing special about it. And the neon pickled cucumber was extremely off putting in aesthetic and flavor. It's not wise to serve food that looks like radiation. Out of fairness I did taste the neon cucumber and it was just as a bad as it looked. The sauces did not add anything to the dish, which were plain mayo and a terrible spicy mayo, both sprinkled with shichimi. We had to make our own sauces from what we were served to make it palatable. The ramen was Devine. Very rich, deep flavors, and I was extremely grateful for the fresh egg noodles. I would return solely for the ramen. Our server was very friendly and seemed enthusiastic about the culture, knowledge with beers, and provided recommendations. 2 wagyu beef skewers (good) Karaage (okay) Ramen (delicious) Rice bowl (blah) 2 beers (clank-clank) $68 Take away: Come for the ramen.
