I typically always stay at Hampton's while traveling, it is a nice hotel and has good value. They offer free parking as well as free breakfast daily at a decent price. They are clean, safe and comfortable. My room was a king with a fold out couch. It also had a bar area and sink. The rooms always have a microwave, coffee maker and fridge which is great for your stay. This location has a pool and a gym as well. I did not get a pic of the pool, but I did get pics of the gym. The gym is small, but works, but the reason this location is getting 4 stars and not 5 is they were missing many of their dumbbells, I made it work, but they did not have any that were over 35 pounds. I typically try to pick a hotel that has a nice gym and I was disappointed a bit with this one, but I think they could easily improve this and get 5 stars next time. If they added a Precor weight machine, then it would be a no brainer. If you are traveling and need a nice clean, comfortable spot that does not break the bank, I would recommend this location. SAT night check in for 1 night…read more Ok... I got in late so [ was not able to do my normal in depth review. I give this location 4 stars based just in the staff alone. Cory at PM FA was awesome...made me feel a home at check in and offered to move me after the breaker tripped. I turned it down since I was already unpacked. The morning FA and Food attendant greeted me. Very welcoming. Room 104 They loose 1 star due the rhe circuit breaker tripping when I was microwaving my dinner and plugged in my laptop. The shower took a really long time to get hot water almost 3 minutes. When you turn off the shower it took about 6 seconds before the water stopped and the the shower spit up a litle.

When we got to the hotel there was quite a few homeless people but that didn't bother us to bad. When we got into the hotel room it looked very clean the bed was clean, not issues there but it smelled absolutely horrible. Like human urine was in the room and they tried to cover up the smell with some kind of room spray that also smelled bad. Also the walls are so unbelievably thin we could hear our upstairs neighbor all night long, moving, running, banging things around, yelling loudly all night we did not sleep very well and still had to drive home over 7 hours the next day so that made it difficult. I would not stay again solely because of the noise and smell. We did not try the breakfast but there was many people in the breakfast area.

I wanted to inquire further about amenities and other considerations including the deposit "incidentals". For the record the definition of "incidentals" should be understood further throughout the hospitality industry. Incidental fees are minor, ancillary expenses or temporary deposit holds associated with a larger transaction--most commonly encountered during travel. Upon greeting the employee at the front desk. I began inquiring further about the information that I wanted to obtain before establishing a final agreement. However he was quick to cut off my questions as if I was some inexperienced traveler. He first told me that they were "sold out of" their I guess "standard" entry level "rooms" aka lowest level option. Implying that only option "double bed suite" that was actually available was a higher rate. Which made me feel like he was suggesting that would be out of my price bracket. I had to reference the fact that I have retained lifetime statutes with Hilton and Marriott just to confirm the fact that I am well traveled and not inexperienced in the process of my inquiries. I then brought out my phone to see what rooms were available via the app. The information stated the "double bed suite" which is what he was referring to. The price was $117 (plus tax $129); or $122 (plus tax $134). I showed him what I was seeing on my end of the app. He said if you want to book the room in app, I guess that is fine but if you book now at the front desk the room is $144 (with tax). I said what? He said oh that is not with incidentals. Then he showed me some paper on a clipboard as if that they had a policy for incidentals. I said again I am well traveled and well aware that "incidentals" are supposed to listed as a separate charge on an itemized statement. I said well would you like to disclose that information to me at this point in time. He said "$150.00". I said $150.00 for a choice hotel?! With check out at 11 am?! Honestly It wasn't even about the incidentals it was the way he said it as if that price was even justifiable? Where is the rationale in the demand factor? You do realize that the room was less than $150.00 but you expect a deposit that is MORE than the price of room with taxes?! I said "thank you for your time today but I'll gladly go back to my LIFETIME STATUSES." I rather enjoy my earned 2 or 4 pm late check out time with only a $25 to $50 deposit over this level of incompetence, ANY DAY!

We had various issues…read more They dont stock the rooms with more than two towels or bedding for the sleeper when your reservation is for more people. The hot tub was broken. The breakfast was well stocked, but cold eggs, sausages and tater tots. No juice except cranberry. They do have cinnabons, but they were very cold. Not a satisfying breakfast.

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

The only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was there was no internal secondary lock on the door which made it feel a little unsafe as a solo traveler and also there were not clear instructions about how to enter the gated parking lot upon checking in. Otherwise I had a good stay and would consider visiting again just to eat at the restaurant.
