Clean and easy, looks just painted, and modular, woodish floors, no carpet which is great cause that's always the thing that holds dirt and smell. Super simple. I haven't been to a Motel 6 in, I don't know, forever. This was a very last minute, just need a bed night, however there is a pool and little vending machine room with laundry and if I was going to stay here a couple days I might be OK. I do like a little pampering but for the price I don't expect extras. They do serve free coffee in the morning, free doesn't make it good but everyone has different taste when it comes to coffee. Mattress was firm and bouncy, sheets low end and a little itchy, not unexpected. Water pressure average. Air temp adjustable to my needs, very comfortable. Quiet on the East side. Not so on the pool side but great distant views of the ocean on that side. I chose Eastside for the quiet. Cable with sufficient channels. Wifi, you can pay for simple or fast, two prices. If you want free there's a Starbucks about a mile away. read more

Watsonville. I don't think I'll ever forget that name. It's such an obscure city (more like town) east of Monterey. It's funny that they decided to stick a Motel 6 here. I feel like this Motel 6 is the only reason why there's traffic through this even go to Watsonville (though I could be wrong). The good thing is that this Motel 6 is next to a Edwards Cinema, so I guess you could always catch a movie next door before crashing on your bed. When we checked in and tried to get up to our room on the third floor, we realized that the elevator was broken and had to climb the stairs. Not a big deal for us, but it might be troublesome for people who have large suitcases (though I did see them try and fix it the next morning). When we got into the room, I was actually very surprised at how nice it was. The room that we checked in definitely didn't look as crappy as the pictures, and the TV was pretty good as well. I think it's because we got a renovated room. After reading the reviews about the dirtiness and other things, I was a little scared of this place but me and my friends didn't run into any of those at all. Everything was pretty clean, except for this...stain on the bed. I guess the sheets are clean, but they obviously didn't bleach them. Eh, you get what you pay for. One thing was that they didn't provide shampoo and conditioner, which is fine because I brought my own. Not sure if they had body wash or bar soap either, so just make sure to bring your own stuff to shower with. After reading everybody's reviews, I am a little hesitant to come back. But if I didn't read the comments and was basing it on my experience alone, I would come back. Guess you'll just have to try your luck! It might have been because we were on the highest floor. We arrived around 9:30 PM and the first issue we encountered was a change in the price from the one quoted by the reservation agent. It wasn't a lot of money but still the desk clerk refused to honor the agent quote and insisted that the price was the rate of 55.99 + 6% tax which she claimed came to $63. Okay, I can do math too and 55.99 + 6% tax is around 59.34. Like I said, not a major difference but either the clerk failed junior high math or there is something else she didn't mention. Being tired from the long drive from Sacramento, I was in no mood to argue $4. We selected a room on the 3rd floor thinking that a top floor room would be quieter. The room was small but clean. My only complaint here was the heater/ac below the window which was situated right up against the window side bed. The unit was too noisy to operate so I just just kept it off and shivered underneath 2 very thin blankets. That inconvenience turned out to be the least of our troubles. Sometime around 1 AM, we all started hearing voices. Now it is true that some people arrive at motels/hotels at different hours and sometimes forget that other residents exist and talk loudly while they get themselves situated. I am well aware of this pattern and have learned to just accept the fact that some people are simply oblivious to what is going on around them. I imagined and expected in my mind that the late arrivals would find their way to their room and eventually quiet down. But the talking continued. I looked out the window and saw a few people standing on the balcony drinking beer and talking and at that moment realized that they were probably not hotel guests. 10 minutes later after hearing some doors slam shut, the noise subsided. About an hour later, the noise started up again. This time much louder and filled with loud cursing and general drunken bravado. I was not about to confront a large group of men drinking by myself so I just called the front desk and explained the situation. The woman said she would attend to it right away. Yea, right. The noise did not subside but continued for another 1 1/2 hours to around 3:30. Then there was more noise at 6 AM as the residents from hell slammed their door and marched noisily past our room. Needless to say, none of us got any sleep. The woman at the desk would not give us a refund but did offer 50% credit. We took the credit and left, never to return again. read more

For me, Motel 6 failed at it's main function, to provide a place for me to rest well. The lighting outside was so bright, I had difficulty sleeping (even with the blackout curtains!). The amount charged on arrival was greater than the amount I agreed to online. I would have liked an extra pillow & better bedding quality (the bedding was very rough). WIFI should be free - they charge $2 per device The room was clean and all the employees were efficient & friendly. What seemed to be a bargain online ended up costing more upon arrival & I had poor quality sleep...so to me it was not worth it. I was only there to sleep (no tv, hanging out in the room, pool etc) and that was not successfully accomplished so next time, I'll choose lodging with a higher standard of basic amenities. read more

The only motel I've ever been to that doesn't provide shampoo. When I asked the girl at the front desk, she said there might be some tiny bottles in the vending machine. This Motel has one thing going for it, their location. I have stayed here a few times and have always had an issue. Once the manager came around knocking on my door around 7pm to do a head count. Not kidding! They must have been hard up for cash around that time. That angered me. I am relaxing and they come around asking how many are staying in my room. Because I said 3 of us she get's on her 2 way like a big shot asking the office how many are suppose to be in my room. God forbid I lied and said 1 and they have to charge me an extra $10.00! There were no do not disturb signs in the room I had so I went to the front desk and told them not to clean my room. Made no difference the house keeper still knocked and asked to enter. I said I did not want house keeping and she left only to return in 5 min later to say she has to wash my towels. I handed her one dirty towel. It may be just me but if I say I don't want housekeeping leave me alone. I always request a room with internet access. Once they gave me a room that was suppose to be in reach of the network but was not. They charge $3.00 for 24 hour use and if you can't reach the network you're out of luck. I guess my first thought of the place on Friday was hesitation when you have to sign a piece of paper saying we park at our own risk. I'm not entirely impressed with this hotel. Motel 6 has never really impressed me in the first place, but this is really just kind of a . The only separation between the 1 and the 2 star is price. But I guess you really get what you pay for. The beds are not very comfortable and the sheets are stiff. The fan in my bathroom didn't work in the second room, nor was I able to get wifi even though I paid for a card. I was too lazy to switch rooms since I had basically unpacked everything. I used the hotspot on my phone, and I was surprised that I could actually get cell reception out there. The hotel has a very interesting pet odor. Both rooms I stayed in smelled like a wet dog had resided there. I'm pretty sure this has to do something with the salty air, but at least make it smell clean. You can always mask odors. This is a good place if you don't want to bum out in the your car, but don't want to break your wallet. But if you're looking for a place to stay in the Santa Cruz/Monterey area, there are plenty of better inexpensive hotels. read more

This particular Motel 6, if you're hoping to find a place to stay for the Monterey Bay aquarium, is a pretty good choice, considering that your options aren't very open if you end up finding this place. When I was driving late at night and we needed a place to stay, we came to this motel 6 and let me tell you, I was really surprised to see the kind of people that go here. In my last visit, I was expecting that it would just be filled with a bunch of tourists, but I've seen dozens of people staying here bringing luxury cars, from Mercedes, Porsche, and even a Bentley. This is surprising, even for a somewhat rundown motel in the (near) middle of nowhere. Like I said, the buildings aren't really in a good condition. The infrastructure is bland and somewhat cracked, but to make up, the staff are pretty friendly to communicate with. The rooms are also not too bad, but the last one I stayed in had a weird damp smell, which was easy to ignore. Why do I give it 4 stars than 3? Because of its convenience. I recall that nearly every motel/hotel/inn was booked all over the Monterey area, and this was the only one available. Plus, there are its own little bonuses, like it's right across the street from a tiny movie theatre and an applebees. Believe me, for a emergency hotel, these guys are readily available for the booking. read more

The police were banging on the door and arrested the guy in the room next to mine. And then 2 nights later came and arrested another guy 2 doors down. My poor back. I guess it's my own fault for not reading the reviews before I came, so shame on me- that is what Yelp is for, after all. The room was clean and looked like it had been newly renovated. Some of the reviews mentioned a loud atmosphere, which I had no issues with. Once my head hit the pillow, my dreams were over, literally. I don't think I've ever had a more unpleasant sleeping experience. The bed was like sleeping on a rock- I may as well have slept on the floor. And the sheets were super abrasive. We stayed here for two nights, as we were in town for a friend's wedding, and after the first night, the first thing I did the next morning was hightail it to the nearest Target to purchase a mattress topper. I don't know that my poor body would have survived if it weren't for that $20 mattress topper. My poor body. If you're planning to stay here, I would highly recommend BYOB (bring your own bedding). I didn't come home with bedbugs (at least, I don't think I did), so that's always a plus. But for the price that I paid, I feel slightly robbed. read more

It is so expensive to rent a hotel in the Santa Cruz area, especially during the summer time. This hotel was the cheapest I could find, but it's not that far from the boardwalk. Took about 20 mins to drive there. It's located in a good area, with Applebee's and a theater next door. Just 5 mins down the street there is a target, Ross, grocery store and other food places. I've stayed at motel 6 before, so they're all pretty much the same. There's not really much to it. It was just ok. There weren't enough towels and I hate the toilet. I feel like I'm peeing at a gas station. It was quiet, in fact, we were the loudest ones there. Sorry. Parking kind of sucked. By nightfall, you have to search for a parking. It's a Motel 6 - set your expectations accordingly. I spent 5 nights here, and it was just fine. Sure, I had to get my key reprogrammed every night, and perhaps housekeeping only cleaned the room once thoroughly, but it was quiet, relatively clean, a decent location (very easy to get on/off the highway) and it's pet friendly. WiFi costs $2.99 a day, but it's fast enough that you can do everything you need to, including uploading video and photos and watching YouTube. My room was fairly updated, with laminate flooring, a nice Samsung flatscreen TV (with all the inputs necessary for a Chromecast, Apple TV and video console), new countertops, and a toilet that flushes with force enough to down an elephant poop. The staff are very friendly, there's lots of parking, the area seems quite safe, there's a mall two minutes away with a grocery store, Target and Panda Express, and there are loads of beaches within a 15 minute drive. There's no option for a fridge, coffee maker or hair dryer, so pack accordingly. read more

Hotel prices are going way up for the quality of this hotel. No microwaves or fridge and the tv doesn't have many good channels. Recently stayed here for a couple of days and our room didn't get serviced. At night we saw huge black grasshoppers in our room a total of 3 and let the office know they claimed a few other rooms had also complained about black spider looking animals. Also saw one big cockroach in our stay. The "clean" towels we were given had hairs on them. The heater doesn't work good. And one of the nights got woken up by the cops busting into a nearby room and another night somebody yelling and knocking loudly at another room for over an hour. This Motel 6 wasn't too bad. We were greeted by 2 very friendly gals. The room was as per our request. Smoke free and top level (so we don't hear people walking all night). Our room was 2 full beds. Carpet was clean. Walls were clean (but could have used a picture or two on the wall) Bed was comfy, for being a Motel 6. It was a great price $89 / night. Perfect for what we needed. We attended the Scottish Games at the fairgrounds, came back to the Motel, took our showers (which were clean. Loved that they had a tub, too) Sheets were clean. There is no fridge or microwave in the room, which was kind of a bummer. But, worked out ok for us, as we brought our ice chest. I stayed in this motel a few weeks back. I went ahead and did the booking online through booking rather than the motel itself just because prices where highly cheaper through that website. I stayed for three nights and my experience was very pleasant. We were staying over for a mini family vacation and just needed a place to sleep, shower and get ready in. The lady in the office was sweet and explained motel policies briefly. I have to say it was pretty busy considering it's Watsonville. All hotels and motels were booked nearby. My boyfriends relatives that traveled with us last minute wanted a room and everywhere was fully booked luckily this sweet lady found them a room for one night at least. Parking is super spacious too. This motel also has a pool, coffee service and vending machines downstairs. It's nothing fancy but I would totally recommend for its price you can't beat that! read more

An ex boyfriend of mine was staying at this hotel, I showed up and within the first 10 minutes I was there, I saw a small fast crawling bug near the desk and I made my then bf kill it, I was already disgusted. This raised my anxiety about being in a motel 6 w creepy randos all around the parking lot , in a not so clean room and now bugs.. We began watching a movie and turned off the lights. Shortly after I noticed a way larger dark bug crawling it's way up behind the tv, turned on the light and it was a huge ROACH. I left him and got the hell out of there. This is the 2nd stay I've had at this Motel 6 . Last yr around the same time we stayed here and the hotel was awesome! Clean very well kept , the pool was clean & the staff was on point. But for ny recent 4 day stay , To begin with its too over priced for the quality of service you get ! No professionalism in the staff and the place is now more of a live in motel ,with people staying there with their pets , doing their business all around the hotel, the property stinks of dog poop! For a NON SMOKING motel theirs alot of smoking! Well, it is a Motel 6, so I didn't expect too much. Certainly didn't pay $6. It cost us $303 for 2 nights. We planned a last minute whale watching trip in Moss Landing and this was the closest place and one of the few available. We had a family with kids right next door and it turned out to be connecting room, so we could hear them way too good. I always travel with my iPad and use sound apps to drown apps to drown out the noise. Thank goodness! The bedspread had a hole in it which they had tried to patch with an iron on patch Tacky! The room was really small. The bed was comfortable, that was the best thing, and they had a nice flat screen TV. Unfortunately, they have it bolted into the wall and we couldn't see the back, so we couldn't plug in our HDMI cord in to watch Netflix. There wasn't any amenities like a coffee maker (coffee is available in the morning in the office) blowdryer, shampoo etc. The bathroom floor looked dirty and here's the gross out ---There was a bunch of dark hair stuck on the bathroom wall!!!! YUCK! The towels are so hard its like using a loofah all over your body. The good news I guess it gets rid of dead cells after you dry off. The WiFi cost an additional $2.99 per person. It didn't work. We called the office abd they said call support. We did. Twice. Finally got intermittent SLOW wifi. I gave up and so did my husband. It took him 20 minutes to post a photo on Facebook. Save your $. I wish we hadn't paid for 2 nights. Update. 2nd night: Family with kids moved out and was replaced by family with big barking dog. The hair on bathroom wall still there. I took a shower and only found one wet washcloth. I thought my husband must have used it and taken the other one in the other room so used it. It not until I finished the shower that I realized that had just left it in the shower (further proof that they don't check to clean the shower). I got out to dry and realized they had not replaced our towels. Luckily, there were 2 small hand towels left, so my husband and could both dry. I. called the office and they told me to come down and get more. No offer to bring more. When I got into bed, I thought somehow sand had gotten on the sheets from the beach, so kept trying to brush it off before I realized that the sheets were just really full of hard little balls. OMG! No option for zero stars or I would use that. Last resort stay, that's for sure. I think I'd rather sleep in my car. read more

This motel is horrible for numerous reasons, and good for only one, the price. But then again you are paying for what you are getting. The beds are worst than uncomfortable, and the rooms are dirty! My fiance went to house keeping to get some clean towels (because the ones in the room were dirty) and they were out! We had to use hand towels to dry our bodies. The room we had reserved was supposed to be non smoking but surprise, it smelt like a chimney. Do not waste your money here, you will regret it. During the day when it is light outside the hotel is decent enough. However AS SOON as it begins to get dark out,, if you have any type of dislike for spiders,, this place becomes a serious problem. They seriously NEED to pay for a monthly bug guy to come out &&spray. I can't believe this problem hasn't became an issue yet... They are everywhere &&I mean everywhere!!! You have to keep an eye on the ceiling above you the whole time yr walking outside cause they'll just hang &&you'll run into them!! If you have a family or just value common decency avoid this HELL HOLE at all costs. My wife and I along with our 3 children 5,4, and 1 years of age were getting ready for bed when we get a call from the office saying they are going to call the police if we don't keep it down... I was surprised by the call (because my children were bring very good) and asked the office person calling to come by and check to see if we were being too loud. She starts raising her voice and saying that we have been warned and she will call the police. I'm pissed but it's late so what was I going to do, pack up my children and go searching for another place to stay? Midnight comes and we are all in bed when we get a knock on the door. The Motel 6 worker called the police and threw us out never taking the time to check and see if it was really us who was being "too loud." Good location next to a theater, restaurants and a cvs. Room was very clean, check in was easy and the kids loved the pool even in the 65 degree weather. I really don't understand the other negative reviews for this place. You can't have champagne taste on a beer budget. Motel 6 rooms are always small and usually only carry the basic amenities although the front desk provided us with our simple requests. Some people are just naive and have different expectations, I guess. Anyway, housekeepers work very hard and the whole property was maintained well.
