It was ok food. The chicken sandwiches have different levels of spiciness. They weren't too bad. If you love pickled, vinegar soaked, coleslaw (no mayo) then you'll be in heaven. The fries are seasoned. The amount of seasoning varies, as I ordered large and small fries. The small order's seasoning was good, but the large order tasted like they dropped the seasoning bucket on them. :) They do have a steady flow of customers, but I myself probably won't be back. Honestly it just hits each time I get food from here. So why not a full five stars? I tend to think it's a bit pricey - the sandwich and the fries together will run you $16 before tax and tip, so to get a full chicken sandwich meal you're looking at closer to $19. I've really been looking forward to trying this for a few months and finally got the time to do so today for lunch. We arrived around 1:45 pm and there were absolutely no tables to sit at because it was so packed. The set up is a little odd - There's screens for self order when you walk in - but it wasn't until later I realized you can also place your order at the front. First thing I noticed upon walking in was how HOT it was inside. The place is very cutely decorated, however it is small. We opted to sit outside on a nice warm day in August but clearly that didn't last long and managed to snag a table inside by someone waiting for their food at an empty table.... The sandwiches are huge, with an oddly amount of slaw - which I pulled off half. The chicken breast was nicely cooked and juicy - however with the amount of time it took to come out - it wasn't as fresh as I was hoping for. We split a large fry and each got a sandwich. I should have taken the fries back up to get new ones as they tasted like they had been sitting a while - and hubs made the comment that they were tough. Restaurant was dirty - as yes I understand it was busy - but there weren't enough workers to keep it in running order. The place cleared out by the time we were done - and no sight seen of someone to come out and push the chairs in and tidy up. We shared an epic milkshake - it was good. My family has been going to Mother Cluckers since they opened. At first management or owner was in the restaurant most of the time. We used to bring family and friends because we'd tell everyone how wonderful it was. As time went on, I saw less of management/owner. The decline in service and quality of the food seems to coincide with this. for a while we were being charged $1 for a white slice of bread, not buttered or toasted. We were told the toaster was broken but this went on for months. Last time we were there, another couple was trying to order at one kiosk and us at another. We messed with it for about 5 minutes and then told the girl at the counter that it wasn't working. She says "yeah, the kiosks aren't working" well she watched us trying to order for 5 minutes and didn't say anything. so we try to give her our order directly and she tells us to go sit down because it's going to be a while. our party(3) and the other couple were the only ones in the restaurant. we sat for about 5 mins and then walked out. Today we went to eat, they could not get the World Cup game on (no biggie) so we ordered our food to go. The tenders were ok but all our fries were cold and had NO seasoning-the seasoning keeps me coming back! I ordered 2 tenders and got one normal size and one tiny one. They've thrown an extra in before if the tenders were small... I mean each tender is 4.75! I miss the mother Cluckers that I fell in love with, please do better! read more

Decided to give mother clucker a try after reading all the 4-5 star reviews. Being a chicken sandwich fanatic myself, I just couldn't help but let the curiosity get the best of me. That being said, the OG chicken sandwich at mother clucker wasn't quite my cup of tea. The spice was definitely there, but the slaw was just not right. Adding sour and tang to an already tangy sandwich just doesn't make sense to me. I suppose the pickled cabbage on pickled pickles with the tangy spicy sauce slathered on the fried chicken was just overkill. Personal preference I suppose. read more

They, along with the fries are nicely seasoned. We opted for the 3 tender combo ($9 for the tenders, $4 to add small drink and fries) and a delicious gourmet dirty shake for $9. The food was great but a bit on the pricey side, however, 3 tenders fed 2 people which was nice. There's not much indoor seating but there's a large patio with seating outside. I came here on a recommendation of another yelped. They have different levels of spicy. I got the OG tenders and fries. I have never in my 42 years had a tender burst with so many well combined spices. OG wasn't spicy. The mild had a little bite and there is a medium - we didn't get that but the one with the most heat, it but you back. Even with the spicy seasoning, every piece still had that OG flavoring. And l don't let me get started on the fries, Kringle cut, crispy but not too crispy. Just perfect. You self order at a kiosk and the employees fill the orders. They are friendly and available to help with anything. Establishment is a little small, no drive through but quaint and cut and not over stimulating. The "kicking it up" level I selected had a nice (but not overwhelming) amount of lingering heat - nice! The tender was served Nashville style with pickle slices and a slice of white bread. I love Mother Clucker but I especially love that I no longer need to go inside Parlor to get it. I decided to check out the new Shawnee digs. I liked that you can order from a person or from a kiosk. The service was quick and friendly. I got the three tenders and fries. You get to choose your spice level. I normally go pretty hot but I decided to go mild this time. It was still plenty spicy and still delicious. They have crinkle cut fries that you can't go wrong with. We also got the comeback sandwich but asked for the slaw on the side. The slaw didn't make it into our Togo bag but my boyfriend said he actually preferred the sandwich without the slaw so crisis averted. They don't skimp on the extra pickles. Finally got the chance to check out the location in Shawnee, Kansas. I have only had their parlor location prior today I went a little after the lunch hour service was super friendly and fast. You have the option to order at the counter or through a kiosk. You can also order pick up and get it curbside. I ordered at the counter where I got jumbo tenders, a sandwich, and a Cap'n Crunch shake. There are a number of seating options inside as well as outside on the patio area. On the patio, they have TVs and a fire pit as well as heaters for chillier times. When I received my food, everything was hot and fresh. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. I got my shake and everyone Around me, was so impressed with the size of it from the tenders, to the sandwich, to the shake, everything was amazing. They have great seasoned fries, as well as a number of sauces to choose from. You can choose the heat amount you want from not spicy too very spicy. Parking is easy to access. We loved Mother Clucker in the Parlor building and love it just as much at its first flagship location. The kiosks are simple and easy, the decor is beautiful, and the food is consistent and quick. Food was amazing. I doubted that two chicken tenders would be enough but I was wrong, they're huge! I only ended up finishing one and a half before I was stuffed. The milkshake was SO GOOD. It tasted like cereal milk. The ranch was clearly homemade and delicious. Everything was made to order and the speed was great! The chicken is good! I am not sure that we needed another chicken place... I know we definitely needed BETTER chicken places near by. Does this meet that need? The shop: small place and after the initial crowds fall away I am sure that eating in will be a good option. There is a sizeable outdoor space that was not open while I was there (cold KC weather). And this will also help this place out. The Service: There is a lot of people back there running through what to do... and since you can order at the kiosk... you only need one person up front right?!?! The answer is NO. An aged crowd didn't know how to use the kiosks to order. Those of us that did still had to wait to get our cup for drinks behind those that were trying to order, which was constantly interrupted by the ONE front person handing out the food to other customers. Also as customers we can see all of those other people... they are NOT hidden behind a wall! And we are fully aware that they COULD step up and speed the process along. The food: Just WOW... this is some great Nashville Hot chicken! And I 100% will get again. Fries were good... Coleslaw was ok... but I don't really like coleslaw that will so take it for what you will. The only downside with the food is the lack of options. That said I'll make dinner at home then swing by and get a bunch of these tenders to serve with it! Price: This is where they lose me... These are very large chicken pieces and they are delicious. Three for it being better than most hot chicken places in Kansas City -- not that there's much variety anyway, but compared to hot chicken anywhere else it's simply not that great. I ordered the two tender combo with a side of cluck sauce at 'Medium' heat. Seasoning was good, heat intensity wasn't too bad and the food was ready at my scheduled pick-up time. The chicken inside the tender has been pretty dry both times I've ordered. Fries have been overcooked and a little too crunchy both instances I've ordered as well. Overall it's a decent hot chicken spot for Kansas City, unfortunately if you want something good you'll have to travel outside of the city. Opening in the site of the old Bam's, Mother Clucker's (Shawnee) features Nashville hot chicken, The menu choice are simple, wings, tenders or sandwich. All available in various degrees of heat, I chose the second mildest, my date kicked it up a notch. The tenders are good sized and with fries made for a perfect sized lunch. the sandwich is also decent sized on a fresh bun. Both were excellent, flavorful with just the right amount of kick. The only negative we encountered was their ordering system is not exactly intuitive and it took a couple passes to successfully place our order, hopefully next time we'll have a better understanding of how it works.
