Visited Motor Company Grill while checking on the roads around and downtown Franklin, NC. Charming little town with ample shopping and more dining options than nearby Robbinsville. Group decided on burgers so enter Motor Company Grill. Cute diner style digs with an Americana vibe. Our group started with Fried Pickles, Mushrooms, and Jalapeno Poppers. A simple but nice start. Friends ordered shakes for during and post meal consumption; most were happy with their choices. GF liked her burger but I'm more particular than most I guess. I chose the MC Cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese. Ordered medium rare (it was well done), something was missing from the meat flavor. Lack of seasoning more than anything. They claim hand pressed but I didn't buy that either. Packet mayo..is this a 7-11? Back in my home state of Texas we love a restaurant called Alamo Springs Cafe. Food was absolutely incredible. I got the "some like it hot burger" and a vanilla milkshake. I will definitely have to revisit on a more intentional meal to try more of wide variety of entrees. All of the servers had exuberant smiles and genuine conversation. I was sat immediately and had no delay to have my drinks ordered/delivered. The food was brought hastily yet undoubtedly cooked fresh. I only accidentally visited this place because I'm a mechanic and I accidentally left a tool in the owner's vehicle. The owner graciously allowed me to come check. God works in mysterious ways and I am super blessed to have been able to visit. I would 100% recommend visiting the place and taking a moment to enjoy the intricate decorations... maybe even ask for a history lesson? This building has seen many many relevant faces. read more

Cute little diner with fun thematic decor! Counter-service started out slow, but once my waiter was aware of me sitting there he was awesome! So nice to give me fresh lemon with my come refills too! Stopped in as we went through Franklin. Found this great 50's themed dinner four our family of picky eaters. Shakes where great. They brought out the extra shake for you to fill. Almost a meal itself. My two youngest had chicken tender. Seemed as if they where hand bread, not store bought. Kids liked them. Wife got the grilled cheese. Very good. My oldest got the Farmhouse Burger. He is more adventurous. I got the Appalachian Farmhouse. Both where very good. Had the cookie sundae to finish up, also very good. The ambiance at the Motor Company Grill is from the 60's. Nice and clean. Takes a moment to be seated and order taken and much longer for the food to arrive. My granddaughter and I have visited several times and eaten salads, hamburgers and even had their handmade milkshakes. The food is excellent and tasty. The salads are generous. Never bothered to say "I'll be with you shortly" just watched her go back & forth getting them drinks and silverware. This place looks like it's run by a lot of young people with no experience. You end up in North Carolina My friends Dan and Dawn had mentioned @motorcompanygrill some time back and I have been wanting to try them since. This was the perfect opportunity to say "I know a spot we need to try....." And knowing Charlie, he isn't gonna say no!! This place's menu is AWESOME and we wish we could have tried more of their food, we'll just have to go back soon I ordered their APPALACHIAN BARNYARD burger which came with your typical fixins plus turkey, ham and a fried egg. Charlie ordered THE KING which had two HUGE patties along with swiss, cheddar, bacon, grilled onions and mushrooms... That burger was HUGE!! We were very happy with the burgers as they were tasty, moist and although they were gigantic, the bun held very well until the end. We started it off with some fried pickles and some jalapeño peppers. The fried pickles were too salty but the jalapeño peppers!? Let me tell ya... Good size, perfectly fried with just the right amount of pepper and cheese. Their waffle fries are single handedly the best waffle fries I've ever had... Perfectly fried and crisp with a great taste AND not greasy. We both had to do the classic thing and grab some dessert while there so he grabbed a vanilla ice cream cone and I grabbed a banana split sundae... Both hit the spot and were very tasty and creamy. I know this spot is far north but if you ever find yourself in the north side of GA near NC and you're wondering where you should go eat... Check this place out!!! Driving through we got off the highway and found this fantastic 50s style diner. Everything on the menu looked delicious but we where too scared to try The Eldorado 7 burger challenge. Burgers. Salads. Quesadillas all delicious. Leave room for dessert. Jade makes the sundaes bigger than you can imagine. Out server was Robert and he was great. Friendly knowledgeable hand funny. We were visiting the little town of Franklin and stumbled upon this cute little diner. It had a totally 50s vibe and WE LOVED IT!!! The food was phenomenal and our server was great! The food: I had the teriyaki burger with waffle fries. The portions are large and the food tasted great! My SIL order the friend mushrooms and the entire table devoured them. Service: Our server was outstanding. He had great conversations with us too! And he couldn't believe we were the 3 table to have twins that week with him. Everything was so great we wanted to come back again that weekend to try their ice cream parlor out. But unfortunately time didn't allow. But it looked amazing. Nice place, we were excited to try it out. Unfortunately it was not our cup of tea, and not what we were expecting in a place like this, such as a super juicy burger. There was nothing wrong with the burger and no doubt a lot of people like them at this restaurant. It was unusually seasoned, specifically over seasoned. I like burgers that are seasoned with salt only to not cover up the beef taste. My wife isn't nearly as picky regarding seasoning of a burger but even she did not care for it. We both tasted an extreme amount of pepper (there were also flecks of red pepper), garlic, and somewhat over salted. We both enjoyed the crinkle cut fries as well, which we could tell they used clean oil for frying. As I mentioned above, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the burgers and clearly people enjoy this restaurant but they were not to our liking. **side note the service was mediocre. read more

Stopped in about 1 pm on Sunday, August 22, with our dog. We'd been in earlier this week and enjoyed it. They are dog friendly on the patio, a selling point for us. While waiting at the hostess stand to be seated 2 women stood behind the counter, not doing much other than puttering with the check folios. After a few minutes a kid in pink plaid shorts and a Nautica t-shirt came from the kitchen, took a couple of minutes to drink his beverage and then approached me. I told him we had our dog and would like to sit on the patio. I was advised they were short staffed and no patio service and a 30 minute wait for indoors. I said we had a dog but apparently he wasn't really paying attention. Almost like he didn't care. I really understand but several things wrong here. Even if short staffed, there were 3 of them hanging at the counter, there were no customers at the counter. Had the 3 lazy counter people assisted the "short staffed" restaurant by bussing tables, bringing drink orders, or God forbid take a table or two themselves the pet friendly patio could have been used. As it stands, we're in town 3 more weeks but we won't be back here... unfortunate since we had liked it on our first visit. If you're trying to lose customers you're doing a great job. read more

Excellent food all around! Burger with pulled pork in it was super juicy and delicious. Ordered another burger topped with bacon, cheese and onion rings and it was also juicy and yummy! Son ordered a philly cheese steak and it did not disappoint at all! Great place to go.... it was July 4th so we had a 30 min wait but expected that. Although all seemed well, hostess, waitstaff, food, that changed once I realized I had swallowed 2 bites from an undercooked turkey burger. I brought it to their attention and they offered dessert that I declined. I appreciate that but just hope I don't get sick.
