As busy as this place can get, I've had good experiences here. Today I got my new license done so I will have it when I go to New York in 3 weeks. They get people through at a decent speed as well. I went to the Apache Junction location. It is a smaller size location and the few times I've been there there hasn't been a wait. I'm from California and used to spending the day at DMV. This is a nice experience. And the employees are friendly. You don't get that in California. read more

You're not going to believe me. I swear to you, I am not telling a fictional tale here. My experience at the Apache Junction MVD was honestly the best experience at an MVD that I've ever had. I would even suffice to say that it is some of the best customer service I've had at businesses in general. I'm totally serious. I made an appointment online to get a new license photo and upgrade to the travel ID. When I walked in, I was greeted by Patrice at the front desk. This woman was so welcoming and kind. She was efficient and very complimentary that I had all of my paperwork set out in advance. We joked and laughed together as she got me ready for my mugshot...er... license photo. She gave me my number to move through the line and bid me farewell. My number was for the "B" line. But when I say "line", it's completely in description only. Because there was no line. They were so efficient, I didn't have to stand and wait around. I was greeted at the window by Christy. Christy was also so nice and was never not smiling. We chatted as she pulled up my information and got the request completed. I was complete with my whole transaction before my appointment time even actually arrived. I don't know if I just ended up with the two nicest people ever, who knew what great customer service was, or that this location genuinely has a great team and work environment that they all enjoy. I felt like they enjoyed people and enjoyed their work. As a government employee, I really appreciate that and value the experience that I had with them. In the past, I had gone here, meeting a little bit of grumpiness and a lot of waiting. This was a complete 360. Each of the employees had a card on their desk with their name, and a QR where you could leave a review about the experience. I was actually kind of disappointed that the survey didn't ask for more detail. Because I would tell them what assets both of these women were to the division. But please don't go here. Went to ask a simple question about a trailer inspection, guy didn't even introduce himself when he answered the phone. Very rude but professional. I understand they are busy but no reason to be rude. I'm a locksmith myself and I get tons of calls and jobs and nothing stresses me out to be rude like that "guy" that didn't even give me his name. read more

Everybody was friendly except the driving test instructor. Me and my boyfriend came in to get my boyfriend's drivers license, and his test instructor was extremely rude, when asked for clarification about certain things, she was passive aggressive. My boyfriend did not pass the test which is fine. We will go back and try again (he accidentally went a little faster than he was supposed to, not her fault completely understandable we're not blaming her for him failing) . He is still a new driver, but the way she treated him is unacceptable. Made snarky comments about the water bottles in my car that I keep in there so I don't become dehydrated in the Arizona heat. Then she has the audacity to say when she first got in my car, it smelled like perfume, but then she supposedly smelled marijuana, which is impossible because My car is brand new , and neither of us smoke and there was nothing in the car to make any smells. so I have no idea how thats possible, and even if she did, I'm not sure what we could do about that considering the car is only about a week old and neither of us do that kind of stuff. I'm assuming what she smelled was something from the outside air. Told us if it smelled next time she wouldn't even test us, which I definitely understand if somebody's car stunk like weed, but my car did not she admitted herself that it smelled like perfume when she first got in. There's nothing that we can do about a hint of a smell if we're not smokers ourselves, and I genuinely believe that her attitude came from her assumption that we smoke. Either way we're both over 21 years of age and there's no reason for her to discriminate against us simply because she thought she smelled something. read more

My first time going to this Apache DMV and it was a horrible experience. Now that I realize that I am not the only one that had a terrible experience I can probably rule out me being a person of color because when I tell you the teller whose name I am not going to be naming to give a benefit of the doubt, called my name and my appointment time and gave me the deepest eye roll from taking one glance at me before I even approached her at the window I say "hi good morning how are you doing today?" she says nothing to me not even "how can I help you?" If she didn't want to service me and wanted to refuse me service she just could have said that because she didn't help me at all. She thought of an excuse to find an issue with a title paper I handed to her and gave me the biggest attitude Imaginable, like I smelled, as if I offended her with my presence. Just deny me service and save both of us the time. I called to get help over the phone and got the help I needed. To this older woman, I really hope you were having the worst day of your life, you need to improve on your customer service. Sorry you don't like your job maybe you should have made a better career choice if you didn't want to spend your senior years servicing the people of Apache Junction at the DMV. read more

Terrible series of experiences with this location. My husband and I went to get our AZ drivers license. We first logged on to azmdvnow.com and made appointments. However, turns out that when you walk in you have to wait in the first line no matter what, which can take up to 20ish minutes, meaning you need to be early for your appointment. Luckily they DID adhere to masks and social distancing (with stickers on the floor). When we went, we had all our paperwork but the photo and signature pad were "down". We continued to get conflicting information about this outage through the time we were talking to staff at this location. One person told us it was a state outage so we couldn't go to any other location (this turned out to be incorrect when we called again later). No one could tell us if it would be fixed, when it would be fixed or when we should come back. When we asked for a phone number so we could keep calling back, they gave us a line that did not accept incoming calls. With some googling we found the correct number but each time we called they said they were unable to update us, until we pressed them further. Then they magically found the answer. We came back the next day and were able to get our temporary licenses after almost a 45 minute wait. I understand that this must be a hard place to work and that they are normally crowded. However, the customer service was really lacking. It simply seemed like most staff didn't know how to answer questions or what was going on. Definitely recommend visiting another location. read more

This place sucks. From the moment you walk in the employees are miserable and treat everyone poorly. Smug, rude and snappy. Go find a job you like instead of making everyone else's day miserable. It's like they are annoyed by having to answer the same questions all day. I watched as the crackhead directing people around (think Walmart greeter reject) scored and snapped at people coming in. My God. Who hires these people? It's no wonder they haven't claimed the Yelp Biz account yet. They probably read the reviews. read more

I have been in this office a number of times, and I have never had a problem getting in and taking care of what I came for. I noticed that a couple of people complain that they think that they should be able to do many more things here. My suggestion to them is, go into any Phoenix MVD office and see if they can get all they things that they want. And be prepared to take quite a while to take care of what they are wanting. read more

Pretty terrible experience here. I lived in California for a couple of years and anytime I have gone to the DMV they have a seperate line for appointments and disabled drivers, not here. After waiting in line for half an hour (people even had the audacity to walk in and go in front of everyone in line and the woman at the desk acted as if nothing happened) I was told there number system was down, so I asked if there was anyway to fast track my number because I was in there to get my disabled placard, and that I was a disabled veteran. The answer was no, and that there was no difference if you were disabled or not, yet there is when the system is working...way to treat a disabled veteran you rude woman at the counter. I'll sign up for AAA and the money will be worth it to not deal with you lazy bureaucratic check cashers. read more
