We visited Mountain Air Ranch Family Nudist Resort for two days. It's not too far off the highway, nestled on the side of a mountain. We lost cell reception there, so be aware of that. The WiFi worked well, though. We were met by a very helpful & friendly guy (Riah)at the office and got the required tour. The playground area for kids is impressive (and our good friend Charly, who now lives in Lake Como near us, helped build it when he lived in CO & was a member.) They said it gets good use, which was encouraging to us to know of a resort where families are thriving. The outdoor exercise plateau was cool too! While there, they were making improvements to the pool deck area! And they'd recently gotten a new, larger hot tub! I loved the colorful umbrellas and multileveled sunning decks in the pool area. And the A-framed indoor community center lent to the mountain-y feel. The big upstairs area was the meeting room and where dances and activities are held. The grounds are quite spread out so be prepared to hike up & down the hilly landscape to get back & forth to things. We visited during a hot, dry time so it was rather dusty. We camped in an RV area because we wanted electricity but the grassy tent area looked cozy. They have the most impressive community kitchen & covered outside dining of all the resorts we've visited so far, possibly better equipped than most people's personal kitchens. There was a large black bear that was becoming a regular visitor and we did hear him during the night but they have good protocols & vigilance about bear visits. He was just looking for a midnight snack. It's important to keep all food (& even toothpaste) in your car/RV & properly dispose of trash in mountainous areas. I kinda wish we would have seen him but maybe not. Tis mountain life. We have alligators in FL, they have their wildlife too. *Photos taken with permission.

Great view from one of the many hiking trails!

Because I booked through Hotels.com, I received a room upgrade along with nightly expense credits, which was a wonderful bonus. The room itself was outstanding, with a spacious living area featuring a cozy fireplace and a luxurious bathroom complete with a huge soaking tub -- perfect after a cold, snowy day. While I didn't catch the names of all the amazing staff, a few stood out. Ella was an exceptional host who checked in with me before, during, and after my stay, making sure I had everything I needed and that my Hotels.com benefits were fully applied. One evening, I enjoyed a fantastic dinner at one of the on-site restaurants, complete with stunning views of Garden of the Gods Park; Jodie was a warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly server who made the experience even better. At the spa, Erica provided a treatment that was both skilled and welcoming. From start to finish, this stay truly lived up to its name -- it felt like a real resort experience in every sense.

Great Views. Zero Soul…read more I genuinely wanted to love this place. It had everything on paper - the views, the parking, the promise. So here's my honest advice: Book one night in the big suite, don't interact with management or the events team, eat somewhere else, and leave. You'll actually enjoy yourself. Here's the reality: It's gorgeous on the outside. But in my experience, there's no soul or integrity behind the facade. The service culture feels stuck in a bygone era - and not in a charming way. The locker rooms are cramped, poorly maintained, and frankly, they smell. The food is forgettable. The spa feels pretentious and operates on what I can only describe as a 1987 business model. I was told I'd need to order a nail job just to access the steam room. Make it make sense. The concierge was genuinely lovely - but it felt like her hands were tied by management's outdated approach. She seemed to want to help more than the system would allow. The events department was, in my experience, a major disappointment. Communication felt disorganized and unresponsive. When I asked for a simple proposal, I was told they "couldn't possibly do that for every inquiry" - in 2025, when AI tools can generate a polished, customized proposal in minutes. I tested it myself using Canva and Claude with their own metrics. Took me four minutes. The resistance to modernizing felt deliberate. Outside of the top-tier suites - which are reasonably priced by Colorado standards ---this felt like a mediocre hotel calling itself a resort. It is not The Broadmoor. It is not a Four Seasons. Those places deliver hospitality with humanity. This felt more like a zombie party with a great view. My honest opinion? It feels like ownership is either disengaged, burnt out, or simply no longer pursuing excellence. That said - if you're a Colorado local, the 10% room discount is a nice touch. Choose your room wisely, skip on-site dining, and check out 503W nearby for great prices and actual atmosphere. For corporate events? I'd look elsewhere.

Before booking, I called several times to confirm availability and finally got through to someone who told me there were openings at 2:45 and that I could finish the booking online. I completed the reservation online, entered my credit card information, and pressed complete, so I was surprised when I visited today to be told it appeared the booking had not gone through. When we arrived, the spa couldn't find our reservation and explained they'd been having problems with their new booking system. A few staff members even mentioned that other guests had experienced similar issues. My mother-in-law was visiting from Pittsburgh PA, and we had driven over an hour for the appointment, so it was really disappointing. We also ended up having to choose different services than we originally wanted because our massage reservation could not be found. Thankfully, the staff was very kind and did their best. They were able to fit us in for manicure and pedicure instead but a different times. The spa itself was beautiful and relaxing, and we still ended up having a nice experience overall. Shelly, our manicurist, was fantastic. That said, I truly never complain, which is why this was especially disappointing. I really hope management gets the booking issues sorted out soon because it put a damper on what was supposed to be a really special day. I also feel like some kind of gesture or acknowledgment would have been appropriate for the mistake. Overall, the staff and service were great, and if we had received the experience we originally booked, it easily would have been a 5/5.

Pros: Free Parking for all (not just those who stay here), luxury on a budget, free soft drinks and coffee/tea on the casino floor, kiosk check-in available Cons: Food options weren't my scene. The choices were a buffet, 24/7 diner, steakhouse, or a taco bistro. We opted to eat at Jinya Ramen at Ameristar. Also, I was unimpressed by the sparse new player rewards.

Lodging: we chose the Aspen cabin since it was just the two of us. I loved everything about it, other then the number of stairs to and from the main ranch: the decor, very comfy bed (although we were pretty tired after all of our daily activities!), having my very own fireplace, and the view! Food: Waaay above my expectations. Honestly, I was blown away with the cuisine - both the taste and the amount of choices per meal. Chef Cory was very personable and came to the table daily asking for feedback. He also had an awesome mustache face mask to respect social distancing while he was walking table to table. Horses: I mean why else do you think I chose this place?!? Amy and Tammy choose a horse for you based on your skill and comfort level with horses and if you are happy with your horse, you get to keep that horse all week. The herd is over 200 horses so there is definitely one to fit your experience level. My horse was Gypsy and she was a dream! She was super responsive and loved to lope the trails. People: Wranglers: they get in early and jingle the horses to the barn every morning around 6:15...definitely worth getting up to see! They are all very experienced riders and not only guide you on your trail rides, but will help hone your skills and answer questions about horses, the property, etc along the way. Everyone was awesome, but a special shout out to Abby and Halsey for taking us on an all day ride, and fixing my saddle bag for me when it fell off. Walker, Maggie, and Haylei were awesome and made every trail a blast. I feel like I am a way better rider now because of all of them. Servers: The servers are all very nice and ensure you are enjoying every meal. This year, due to COVID, we ate meals outside by the pool, and the servers did a great job of getting food out to you quickly and making sure you had everything you need. Grace was such a sweetheart and we saw her at almost every meal. Thanks for being the best wine pourer we could have asked for. Ranch hands: there are quite a few ranch hands on the property doing all of the odds and ends jobs, including guiding activities. Cooper was very helpful in coaching us through archery, BB guns, skeet shooting, and he managed to not laugh at our epic failure throwing hatchets. They also do a night of branding so bring your leather belts and boots for them to put a C Lazy U brand on. Management: great management team here. Dave, the GM, walked around during meals asking for feedback. Paul and Scott, two of the assistant GM's, made cowboy coffee over a campfire in the mornings and went above and beyond to make sure you were having fun. Paul also MC'ed the Shodeo, which was an absolute blast. Activities: The river that runs through the property and the pond by the main building were both great for fishing. The spa was excellent and the tent I was in had a glass floor to look down and see the river during the massage. Kids - although we don't have kids, the ability to have a group of trusted counselors take care of the little ones while the adults had fun was very impressive! All in all, highly recommend this ranch to anyone ready to have a good time. The ranch was beautiful and the people were friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

It's even a few steps above glamping as it should be for the steep price. However, if you want to experience a few days in a great outdoors The Ranch at Emerald Valley is perfect. After 4 nights at the Broadmoor resort (also amazing) we took the 2pm shuttle up a rocky mountain road to the Ranch. We were greeted by Aaron, a fellow Northwestern alum (go Wildcats) and his incredible staff. There were 38 people total our first night there, which the told us was a record for the Ranch. It didn't feel very crowded though (especially after the craziness of the resort) and most of the people had kids the same age as ours which was a lot of fun. They showed us to our cabin, Hills Cabin, which I realized was the "presidential cabin." It was a huge 2 bedroom cabin that had enough room for 6 kids up in loft up top and a beautiful master suite. + 3 bathrooms and a ginormous kitchen/dining room that we didn't really put to use. It also have a big TV with Netflix and a lovely fireplace. There's a 3rd bedroom that's attached to it, although the 2nd night we were there it was rented by another couple with a separate entrance. There's plenty of fun to be had at the ranch: horseback riding, paddleboats/kayaks, archery, fishing, hiking etc. And if you get a rainy afternoon there are plenty of board games to play both in the lodge and in the cabin. We spent 2 nights here, although with the rain wish we had an extra night to enjoy some of the activities we didn't have a chance to squeeze in. The food was absolutely amazing. My picky children were even in heaven and my little guy has been asking for lobster ever since trying it as their Wed night cookout. Dinners besides the twice a week cookout involves ordering off a menu with plenty of choices for all. I do wish they did a better job with labeling the buffet with food allergies. My son has a serious nut allergy and almost ate a brownie with walnuts because it wasn't labeled and I had to constantly ask if things had nuts and/or gluten in them. They asked for our dietary restrictions ahead of time so assumed they'd be better about this. This really was a very special experience that I think our kids will remember for a long time. I heard this coming week a big family is renting out the entire ranch and I'd love to do the same with family and/or friends at some point, although it was fun getting to know some lovely people from around the country as well.

The sky was a perfect blue that day, which made the whole experience even more beautiful. ‍ Pools and Amenities They have two large main pools that feel like swimming pools. One is hotter and the other is a medium temperature, and there is even a lap lane. They provide lockers at a cost for your belongings and lounging chairs where you can keep snacks or anything you bring with you. Everything felt clean and easy to use. Customer Service Customer service was great. The staff were super friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which really added to the experience. Accessibility and Parking Parking was easy and convenient. There are quite a few stairs throughout the property. If you have bad knees or mobility issues, I would recommend taking your time. There are railings at the main pools, but not at the creekside pools, so just be cautious. Price The price is $35 per person for an all day pass. They also offer senior discounts. For the experience, atmosphere, and amenities, it felt worth it. Overall Experience Overall, Mount Princeton Hot Springs is a gorgeous, peaceful place to relax and reset. The staff at the historic bathhouse front desk was disinterested and unhelpful. Not pleasant like we were wasting their time. The staff just were there for a job and offered up nothing. One pool seemed to have too much chlorine. The pools are moderately hot. The creekside pools looked enjoyable but the one theme people said is "if you can get there." Truth, as even able-bodied youth appeared to have trouble scrambling ambling over boulder cobble Chalk Creek banks to gain entry. Seemed treacherous. A large pipe fed hot water into the cold creek. Fees like 10$ for towels with 5 dollar refund were nickel and diming in my opinion. The location is beautiful. The facility is well built. Nothing was clear as to layout and where to go. Check in was smooth and the we had a bellman show us to our room, giving facts about the property along the way. The view though from the infinity pool/ hot tub was beautiful. We checked out the gym/ lap pool and hot tub over there. The gym is a good size and not too crowded for a Monday morning. There are also fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies available as well as homemade blueberry scones. Our cabin was decorated beautifully in an old-west style. It's small but cozy. There are no TV's and no wi-fi in the cabins, but there is wi-fi in the main lodge. It's a great opportunity to unplug and relax. In the center area there is a fire pit where s'mores happen after dinner (but everybody was too full for s'mores). There's a lot of things to do during the day. They have a morning guided hike, mule rides (in addition to offering them when you arrive), archery instruction, lunch, an afternoon guided hike, camp craft, and cooking club. The only activities that we participated in was the cooking club, and I have to say that that alone was worth the entire experience! The chef who leads this, Chef Alex, was a phenomenal cook and a very entertaining person. We observed as he made hollandaise sauce, asparagus soup, and many other things. We were able to taste as he explained what he thought was lacking, and then taste again as he added spices to the various dishes. After cooking club, we had drinks on the patio overlooking the entire valley. Incredible views! The servers came around with appetizers, which were amazing.
