We picked The sunset lodges for the family for 2 nights . Absolutely a great place with a lots of room. You never know what you're doing or where you're going and what it will be like until you spend time there. We loved it. We rented the two bedroom cabin number 48 with a hot tub for a party of three and my golden retriever Everybody was incredible including even the maintenance person. Friendly great service five stars all the way. Thank you for making our weekend iAwesome in our family safe. Our group of 7 had a very good 3-night stay here in a spacious two-floor room with loft, with a few minor complaints that staff addressed quickly and without being annoyed: *Fridge took a long time to cool our perishable items. *The fire alarm was out of battery so it kept beeping; staff came quickly to fix it, then it went off again several times. *The carbon monoxide detector also was at low battery (just our luck!), and went off endlessly during an afternoon nap. *No toilet plunger was available so we called to have one brought. Also, the exterior patio had only two plastic chairs and a small table, but the loft had a maximum capacity of 8, so more chairs would have been appreciated. We didn't ask for more chairs but I feel they would have graciously provide them. There is no dedicated daily room service but you can request anything and they are willing to accommodate. The location is great (close to everything) but no lake views for our particular unit. We didn't need lake views. There are AC units and fans but no central air. The TV had limited channels. We didn't see anywhere to recycle, and the trash can was very tiny (7 of us produced lots of trash). Definitely stay here! I absolutely love this place and will be back! We rented a cabin for the night with a hot tub on the outside. There was a living room area, two queen beds, and a cute kitchenette area. I'm not really an outdoors kind of girl, but I loved this place! I'm fearful of bugs and anything that resembles nature. This place is very clean and very well kept! No bugs in the room! The hot tub is also kept locked until the guests arrive. It is also very clean and no bugs! The property is very well maintained also. They come by and pick up garbage daily. We would have stayed a few more days but our schedule was tightly packed and we had to head out. We were able to extend a few hours pass the check out time which was nice and allowed for us to enjoy the property a bit more. There are play areas and barbecue sections located throughout the grounds! Definitely plan to stay for more than one day and I would suggest trying it out in the winter. We will be back to enjoy the snow! read more

I can't really say anything bad about this place. Would I prefer it cost a little less? Of course. But with lodging what it is these days, I guess it wasn't that bad comparatively. Very clean, the bed was amazing (like a cocoon), loved the gas fireplace. It was March, so fairy empty; I'm curious what the feel would be in summer. The only negative I can really say, and something for guests to be aware of, is that the info I got after booking had a couple of incorrect items (e.g, it said I'd get 10% off at a steakhouse, when the original deal said $25 off...so I was upset about that, but when I got there it was actually the $25). So just keep an eye on details. read more

Wanted to stay lake front but there wasn't one cabin available both of the nights we needed. We opted to stay in cabin 1, one night and cabin 2 the second night. Personally I only felt like cabin 1 was lake front. Technically cabin 2 is close to the lake but it's behind cabin 1 so you don't have a lake view unless you stand in the middle of the parking lot. Space in both cabins was good, loved the common area by the lake with ample seating, and the dock had lots of seating too. Loved having a hot tub with both cabins, the shared grill was great as was the fire pit. Staff was very friendly and worked with us to make moving next door as seamless as possible. I didn't realize cabin 2 was pet friendly so the cabin smelled like wet dog which I wasn't a fan of. Overall I would stay there again but stick to cabin 1. read more

Great place to stay. The cabins vary in size but have everything you need. Ours had two very comfortable queen size beds. All linens included. Cabin has large fridge,sink, microwave and kuerig for coffee. You will need to bring your own pods though. Quality sturdy dinnerware, silverware, mugs and even glasses. Would suggest bring a roll of paper towels. Bathroom was nice with plenty of thick towels and toilet paper provided. Shower warmed quickly and had great pressure level. Even had built in hair dryer and lots of hooks for wet towels or clothes. Rooms also have 2 TVs, table to eat on, fireplace and comfy couch with coffee perfect size for playing games. Each cabin has its own private dexk with chairs and a table perfect size for a glass of wine. Between decks is a common area with electric fire pit with several adirondack chairs and gas grill. read more

Without a doubt the finest accommodations in Deep Creek Lake. The best and most amazing staff, incredibly furnished cabins with all possible amenities, the best views of the lake and the mountains from the cabins on Grandview while relaxing in the hot tub right out ur front door. Beautifully landscaped and maintained property perfect for long walks in the morning with ur pup. Sitting on the beautiful chairs on ur private patio with a fresh cup of coffee is the perfect way to start a day admiring the views for as far as you can see. This is definitely a"must destination.". Had two wonderful weeks there this year in June and August and just booked two weeks next year in April and June. This perfect location is ideal for all there is to do in Deep Creek Lake and throughout Garrett County. Sooooo highly recommended and soooo dog friendly!! read more

This place is a very nice little cabin up in the Maryland Mountains. It's close to Deep Creek lake which is only 2 miles away. We arrived at 4 pm which is after hours i guess even though check in is at 3. It's kind of dead during the fall because the lakes aren't open and there isn't enough snow to go sledding but we made the best of our trip. The log cabins are like hotel rooms but with a log cabin design to them. They are very well maintained with lovely amenities. We had an electric fireplace, full size fridge, deep sink, dishes, king size bed and a sitting room. We had two 30in TVs's one in the sitting room and one in the bedroom. The bedroom and sitting area are separated by a wall but the top part is open to allow heat to pass through since the heater is located in the sitting area. The fireplace has a 60 minute timer so it can't stay on all night. They had a nice sized bathroom. Not too big but the sink sat on top of the coutertop and had a bark design on the outside. A large toilet in case you got a big butt and the shower was nice and spacious. One of the best showers I've had in a mwhile on vacation. It was so relaxing. the best part about this cabin was the high ceiling. They were at least 20 ft and there was a large ceiling fan to blow down some of that heat to keep you warm. I also like that the Tv's were in different areas even though you can still hear both while they are on, it wasn't hard to separate the sound. There is a small patio just outside the sitting room that has a sliding door to get to it and a few steps beneath the patio is a lower deck that people from different cabins can gather at around a fire place. I thought it was very clever to have the outdoor firepit. They also had a grill in case you wanted to cook your own foods. One guy was using it to cook bacon and steaks when we stayed. The only downside to the cabin is that it's one house that's split in half. So you get one side of the cabin and behind the wall is another couple or group that has the same room. The wall they built between the rooms isn't very sound proof. Plus the floor you walk on is very hollow as well so it almost sounds like your stomping when you walk. It was 9 AM and i could here our neighbors having a full blown conversation. Maybe because they were close to the wall but I could here everything they were saying. Lucky for us they were checking out that morning because we ended up having the cabin to ourselves and it was much quieter. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Ladonna gave me directions for the town and suggested activities for us to do there. She also stated that next time we come if the guest are too loud we can simply have our room changed. I though that was a great help for us. Other than the noisy guest we pretty much enjoyed ourselves. Note: Bring all your own personal items like soap, toothpaste, lotions and napkins. They have towels and washclothes but no soap or lotion like some places. read more

We found this place on a whim, and needed somewhere to stay for a few days last minute. Found the Lodges at Sunset Village and I am so glad we did! Not only is it premier hotel level service, everything is so clean! I am so impressed. I usually only stay at hotels, and The Lodges at Sunset Village are top caliber. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately I didn't. I booked cabin 48 for my husband's birthday weekend. The cabin is supposed to sleep 10, so it's a pretty decent size. Making the reservation was super easy as I did it online. On the website is showed cabin 48 with its own jacuzzi and grill. Now while the jacuzzi was just for our cabin, the grill was not. There are 2 shared gas grills that everyone staying in the cabins have to share. Luckily, I called a couple of days before to verify that their grill was working and that's when I was told about having to share the grills. I asked if we could bring our own and they said yes, so that worked out. I arrived to check in at the office and the women working were friendly, no complaints there. Now on to where the cabin is located. I knew that the cabin I reserved was not going to be lake front but I thought we would at least be able to see part of the lake. That was not the case. The cabin was across the street all the way in the back corner with absolutely no view. Now I'm not taking stars away from them for this because I feel that was my mistake for not thoroughly researching. I just want to include this so you are aware that cabin 48 has no view of the lake. The cabin on the outside is beautiful and parking is right in front which is great. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that great cozy smell of real wood. The cabin is really spacious. There are two bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms on the ground floor. There is a second level with one bedroom and a full bathroom. The kitchen and living room area is a pretty decent size. There's a beautiful gas fireplace in the living room as well. The hot tub is located right outside the cabin which is a plus. Now on to some of the negatives. The deck did not have any chairs which was odd because it's the biggest cabin in that area and yet all the other split cabins had chairs. The screen door to the deck was extremely hard to get open. I was scared we were going to break the lock trying to get it open but we finally managed to do it. There's a fire pit however just like the grills, that is shared as well. The fridge did not maintain anything really cold. Out of all three bedrooms only one had a door. One of the rooms just had a curtain and the other room on the second level didn't have anything at all. As soon as you walk up the stairs, you're in the bedroom. Also, the second level does not have a full wall, it's sort of a loft style. As soon as I walked into the bathroom on the second level I noticed that one of the toiletries (shampoo) that they provide was half way used. That's pretty gross given that housekeeping should be providing new ones every time there are new guests. Luckily I always bring my own toiletries so it wasn't that big of a deal. What was disgusting was the hair in the shower that didn't belong to me or any of my friends since no one had taken a shower there yet. Also, some of the dishes in the kitchen were not cleaned properly. The glass bowls were sticky and one of the plates had some type of residue on it. I understand that guests should clean whatever plates they use before leaving but it's up to housekeeping to make sure everything is clean for when new guests arrive. The couch in the living room converts into a pull-out bed which is supposed to sleep two people but there is no way two grown adults will fit comfortably. When we pulled it out for my teenage niece to sleep on I was completely surprised to see that it was just a flimsy thin mattress. It didn't even look like it was originally part of that couch. The pull out bed was so incredibly uneven that my niece was not able to sleep on it. We put the couch back together and she just slept on that instead. I also want to note that the beds in the actual rooms were also uncomfortable. I had pretty high hopes for this place but was pretty let down. It's not the worst place I've stayed and there are some positives but I just don't know if I would stay here again. read more

Disappointing for the Price. We booked Cabin 2, which was promoted on The Lodges' web site as "Lakefront". Unfortunately, the view from the cabin's only window, and from the hot tub, was the back side of Cabin 1 (watch the video on their website at 0:39). In addition, the hot tub was directly across from the front door of Cabin 5, offering little privacy. We arrived on a Wednesday for a 3-night stay and immediately requested to be moved to the vacant Cabin 1. However, we were told they could not move us, as Cabin 1 was booked. We later found that Cabin 1 was available for Wednesday and Thursday nights, which meant we would have had the superior views and privacy for two of our three nights, had our request been granted. There was only one gas grille to share among cabins 1 through 5 (and it was filthy inside), and only two fire pits (gas, not wood) for the dozens of units on the property (you have to drive to them from cabins 1 through 5). While we made the best of The Lodges' deficiencies during our stay, the visit would have been greatly improved with a few minor improvements. When we arrived at our cabin, we found a used bar of soap in the shower. While the cabin slept 4 people, there was only 1 wine glass in the cupboard. The hot tub, lack of privacy aside, did not function properly and was dirty and smelly. While there were ample lounges and Adirondack chairs not far from the cabin, there were no small tables on which to rest a glass or a book. Also, the lack of a retractable clothes line in the cabin, to hang wet towels and bathing suits, seems like an obvious oversight. On the plus side, there were a number of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the 5 cabins, as well as go carts and mini golf. But they were not enough to offset the disappointing aspects of our stay. read more

These cabins are absolutely beautiful ! Love the wood work, the atmosphere and most of all how cozy it was. We stayed here with our dogs and enjoyed our three night stay. The employees are super nice and helpful. They do have a dock on the lake where their other cabins are. It's not too far so definitely go enjoy the lake! read more

Found this Deep Creek gem as a Groupon Getaway $329 for 2 nights. This is a great deal! We landed a cabin that had the cabin look, but with modern appliances. You are by no means "roughing it" with this place. Think of it as a nice hotel room but with a log cabin feel to it. We had a full size fridge, small dining area, 2 sets of bunk beds and a King Size bed. All the makings for a great party cabin! For maximizing the amount of people in the cabin, you could fit 4 in the King and then 4 in the bunk beds for a total of 8 comfortably. The balcony had a great view of the lake and there are fire pits outside for the guests to use. It was a bit Chilly when we went so we stayed in and cozied up next to the electric fireplace. This place was the perfect little cabin for a weekend getaway. It definitely made for a very relaxing weekend! Everything in here was pretty much brand new. The dishes, furniture and even the toilets! You won't be disappointed in the accommodations. These little cabins are in the heart of the Deep Creek Area so if you stay here, you are only minutes away from the Lake and all the shopping in the area. Wifi is also included for those of you that can't unplug. read more

Aside from paying 500$ for 2 nights, he claimed I broke the hottub (which was already messed up) And wanted me to pay for it. And when I refused, he kicked my family and I out and threatend to call the police. This was my second time going there. The first time i delt with Ladonna, everything was Great. Went to celebrate mine and the husbands 1 year anniversary. When we arrived, check in was quick and the ladies in the office were super nice. We got to the cabin which I booked and it was a twin. We had connecting neighbors. Wouldn't have been a big deal but they had small children and were very loud. My husband and I wanted a romantic weekend. This was my own fault when I booked, not choosing a private cabin. So I called the office and explained our situation. Lucky for us there was a cancellation on a private cabin and they moved us without hesitation. The cabin they put us in, cabin 4 was incredible! We had the most romantic weekend. We stayed in one of their pet-friendly duplex cabins over Mother's Day weekend. We had our own private hot tub. It was amazing! Everything was immaculately clean and cozy! I do wish there had been a little fence on our back patio so that we could've taken our dog out back with us while we enjoyed the hot tub. He was sad and starred at us through the sliding glass door the whole time. Lol. It was a duplex, but really felt private, and we couldn't hear any of our neighbors. The duplex we stayed in had two hot tubs (one for each unit). The back patios all connect straight along the backs of the buildings. It was pretty chilly, overcast, raining and even sleeted our second night, but we didn't mind, we just snuggled up in front of our fire place. It was the perfect way to spend Mother's Day! Also, if you stay here, you get free delivery from Pine Lodge Steak house. We took advantage of this and the food was amazing! read more

We've stayed here two times, both stays over the past two Thanksgivings. I love the new website and the ability to choose my cabin when I book, and the fact that they are pet friendly without charging exorbitant pet fees (only $50 per dog for their entire stay) is one of the number one sellers for me. I was a girl scout for 11 years, so I know how to camp, but these days I really appreciate the "luxuries" of these cabins. So nice to have a full sized fridge and microwave and a fireplace. They often have deals- last year we were able to stay for buy one night get the second half off, and this year it was buy 2 nights, get 1 night free. Hot tubs are an added bonus. LaDonna and Christie are both very nice and helpful. We will definitely visit again. read more

Very clean. Well done design wise. Good location. We love it except the people next door have been partying all weekend long with no care for others and until 3 am. Blasting loud music, cursing, yelling. This is not ideal for families with kids or for people who just like quiet. Also the TV in this room 46r is so small. You can't see it from the beds or sofa. Time to upgrade. Very cool place if i were in college again or on spring break but because we prefer a less wild environment we will look to stay somewhere more peaceful next time. read more

I booked a cabin for Valentine's Day weekend and was surprised at how affordable these were! Our stay even came with a lift ticket, which would have normally cost me $80 due to the holiday weekend. From the beginning, LaDonna was extremely helpful and professional while I was booking my stay. I called and emailed her several times, making sure this would be the perfect getaway weekend, since Valentine's Day is also my boyfriend's birthday. LaDonna was extremely accommodating as well, giving us an early check-in and late check-out. When we had a misunderstanding on Sunday about the pass that came with our stay, she refunded 2 lift tickets I had bought from her the day before (if they have extra lift tickets, you might be able to purchase them for $25 each). We stayed in 40R, which had a nice view of the mountain from the hot tub. The cabin was clean upon arrival, and very spacious. The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable, but if you like soft sheets - I suggest bringing your own! The kitchenette has a microwave, fridge, freezer, sink, and all the dishes/silverware you will need. There was even a kitchen table. Unless you have AT&T you won't have service in the entire Wisp area and wifi was a little spotty in the cabin. So for all you cell phone obsessed people, you might want to bring a hotspot =) We went to Dutches for dinner, which I do not recommend! It was much too expensive for mediocre food (review coming). Overall, we had a great time and very much enjoyed the Lodges at Sunset Village, we will definitely be back! read more

The place to go, if you wanna get away!!! This is an amazing luxurious cabin for a great get away anytime! I've stayed here twice now, and am about to go again! LaDonna the manager, is wonderful, the cleaning crew, maintenace, everyone is helpful and friendly! What a great time of relaxation and peace! The cabins are always clean, neat and comfy! We only had a single night to stay, and if it were not for a professional appointment the next day back home, we would have asked to stay at least one more night. We were in cabin 48, which is located at the far end of the property. It is absolutely beautiful inside, with a tall ceiling and a loft with its own full bath. The gas fireplace is perfect for the cabin and is easily operated. The full kitchen is completely equipped. Our only regret is that we didn't use the outdoor jacuzzi. Freezing rain began to fall as we were preparing, and it lasted long into the night. LaDonna and Kristi were 100% available, helpful, and efficient. Kristi took great care of us. We look forward to meeting LaDonna next time. We absolutely will stay here again. And if you are looking for a house for a large group, check the one there, with a huge amount of space for everyone on two floors with a fireplace on each. The view from the deck is picturesque.
