Cute ice cream stop for dessert! It's in a very pretty cabin-y plaza next to the theater. There was only 1 employee working so it took some time for us to order. When we did, the employee was nice just a bit flustered which is understandable. However, they didn't wear gloves. They really went to work on folding in the chips. Honestly, I tried not to watch because I really just wanted my ice cream & took caution to the wind. The ice cream was decent not particularly flavorful or note worthy. My sis said that her chosen chocolate candy toppings tasted expired. Overall, it's nice to get some ice cream but idk if I'd come back unless it was the only ice cream shop in town. Cute ice cream shop next to the movie theatre. They have lots ice cream flavors, I didn't see any dairy free options, but they had frozen yogurt as an alternative which was very good. Plenty of topping options to be mixed in as well. And the lady behind the counter was very nice and friendly! We wanted ice cream! Unfamiliar with this town, we drove to McDonald's. Of course they don't have ice cream so we climb back into the car and travel around. We see Mountain Dream Creamery but thought it was closed because it's actually tucked BEHIND a restaurant that was closed. Avoid. I'm not sure what the deal is with this place but there were two teenage aged girls working the counter. Nothing unusual... until an 8 year old girl comes out from the back holding a less than year old baby. Okay... but then one of the teenagers just stops making our order and goes outside. ‍ Then, an older lady comes out and finishes our order. All good, until we get to the payment area where there is yet another 8 year old kid laying right there in a sleeping bag. Again- weird. Then we sit outside to eat our ice cream. Super dirty. Wow! This place is amazing. This is my first time here & wow! They make all their ice cream themselves with fresh local products. I had a strawberry banana shake and it is the best shake I have had. The owner was super nice & let us sample a couple different ice creams - the carrot cake and rocky road are delicious! She said they've been there 10 years & I know why. It's a little hidden; I found it funny, the restaurant next door had no ice cream stickers on their doors. They must have a lot of people coming in there looking for this ice cream. LOL! We LOVE the yummy ice-cream at Mountain-Dream! The family that owns it is super nice and accommodating. My kiddos always enjoy it and so do I! They mix the toppings into the ice cream on a marble slab like Cold Stone does and there are a lot of toppings and ice cream flavors to choose from! I got the cold brew float with a scoop of Irish cream and a scoop of coffee ice cream and it is delicious! My daughter and husband got the rainbow sherbet and they both loved it. I promised the kids ice cream tonight so we headed to MDC. We just happened to get there right behind an ENTIRE Little League baseball team. We almost left, but decided to wait. So glad we did because the gals behind the counter were fast, efficient, AND friendly. They took care of that entire team and then us with complete professionalism. On top of that, the ice cream is delicious. Lots of choices of flavors, cones, mix ins, and styles (sundaes, floats, splits, etc.) We'll definitely be back for the service and smiles alone. I visited here while staying in a cabin in Pinetop. When we got there there was only a couple of people in front of us, but soon after the place was packed and there was a line out the door. The ice cream was delicious and I liked how I could pick my own toppings. What impressed me the most was the staff. There were two ladies working during my visit and one of them appeared to be really young. That young girl sure did hustle! Great work ethic and great attitude. Stopped here after a movie. Thought a nice cold treat would be fun with my partner, parents, sister and nephew. We stood in line not exactly knowing how this shop worked. The flavors were listed and toppings. The prices were on placards with some... pretty rude "jokes" small print to explain on the bottom that it is in fact a joke. Still waiting in line and a few 'light skin toned' outwardly caucasian customers came in. We were ignored in favor of them. Our questions ignored. But, seeing as we were on vacation and my mother loves sweets we ventured on. The ice cream itself was yummy. The people working there could be so much nicer. Idk if it was the owner or not sitting by the register, but she wouldn't look or speak to us yet had no problem laughing and making conversation with the previous customers despite my mother(who is a very big people person and I swear can make talk with anyone) complimenting the flavors and the overall store. We may try again, but that feeling of blatant... non acceptance is hard to shake. Turns out you can choose as many flavors as you'd like, she mixes it and adds 1 topping of choice. (Any additions will just add up your bill). Ice cream is sold by the cup (mini, small, med, etc) which by the way..(taste doesn't justify the cost). Much rather eat Thrifty ice cream!! The lady must not be happy with her business/job because she did not smile once to any customers, she was complaining to another customer about the increase cost of nuts & even went as far as giving a price per oz!!
