However, our experience with the Kids Club has been extremely disappointing. About a year and a half ago, my son had an incident where a staff member teased him. He reacted in a playful but inappropriate way, and as a result, he was suspended for a week. At the time, he was also dealing with a serious medical condition that was affecting him neurologically, which we later came to understand may have influenced his behavior. Out of caution, he did not return to Kids Club after that incident. Now that he is doing much better, and I have returned to full-time work, I recently attempted to bring him back--only to be told that he is permanently banned. The reason given was a Facebook comment I had made at the time describing our experience. I made multiple attempts to have a calm, reasonable conversation with staff to revisit the situation, especially given the time that has passed and my son's improved health. Unfortunately, there was no willingness to reconsider. This puts us in a very difficult position. As a working parent, I rely on the Kids Club in order to use the gym. Without access to childcare, we are now faced with canceling a membership we've maintained for years--not because we want to, but because we no longer have a way to utilize the facility. What's most concerning is the lack of empathy and accountability in how this situation has been handled. I sincerely hope the club takes a closer look at how interactions with children are managed, and how situations like this are resolved, so that other families don't have a similar experience.

They updated the dumbells and tvs and added a turf area in the past year. The pulley towers are ancient and almost always have at least 1 station broken, broken clips/pins, 7.5# weights that don't work well, bars with sharp burrs, etc... Outdated. Missing many machines that modern gyms have. For abour $70/month one would expect better. Seems more geared towards families with kids and elderly. Always adding on new fees and trying to sell extras.

Option 1 Fitness has earned a five star review review for the following reasons: 1. Cleanliness is kept top priority. This is the cleanest gym I have ever worked out in. 2. The cardio equipment, machines, free weights (Dumbbells 5-150, bumper plates, etc) are all brand new. The machines are oiled weekly and are very smooth. 3. They let you lift heavy and use chalk! Too many gyms nowadays frown upon members making noise, lifting heavy, etc. 4. 24hr access 365. ***There are many different class options as well (functional fitness, kickboxing, hooping, Zumba, step) many of which are included in the most basic membership. ***Tanning is also included These are starred because they are not of interest to me but I felt they should be included in the review. The first, is that no matter WHAT time of day or day of year I am at HH, they just cannot get the Wi-Fi situation under control. It never works properly. Either it's super slow, can't connect, lags after a few mins, kicks you off, etc. for the price tag, they should be doing whatever it takes to get this stuff sorted. If Planet Fitness can get it done for 9.99 a month, HH can for over a hundred!!! The other, is that the class times don't make too much sense to me. I understand why some of the classes more dedicated to seniors are midday, and I know there are some wealthy towns nearby where people may not have to work- but how about classes at a normal time of morning or evening? Not 5:00 am, but how about at 6:30-7:30? And then more classes that people who work 9-5 (or whose spouses do, in my case) can make? Otherwise, the facility is pretty nice, and there's anything you could want and then some for fitness options.

Well, thanks to the donations of two clients of the Hogan Sports Center who defrayed the cost of renovations, the Hogan Sports Center gym is now brand new, with new equipment, new machines, new weights, and a totally new outlook. In addition, the student athletes who frequently were trying to do their team workouts while half the town was at the weight room, they now have their own varsity gym, located in what was one of the racketball courts downstairs, where they can drop weights without shaking the building. The staff is absolutely awesome. The offerings are also amazing, olympic size pool, yoga, Peloton, indoor running track, you name it. One totally complete facility.

A special shout out to Joe Gallagher and Erika Sawyer who got me started in the classes, and Jeff Peddar who set me up with nutrition advice and a daily workout plan for when I have to travel. If you're looking for a no-frills gym and you lean right politically, FCHC is for you. There is…read moreplenty of floor space, a variety of old and new equipment, and some fitness classes. However, FOX NEWS is constantly playing on the only TV that is visible throughout the main workout area. Other FOX channels (Sports, Live News) are played on TVs scattered throughout the gym. Nowhere is CNN, MSNBC, or even ABC broadcasted. After three years as a member in good-standing, I asked the gym manager and the owners to consider fostering a more politically-neutral environment for the comfort of ALL of their clients. I was literally told that I could take it or leave it. I opted to take my dollars and my peace of mind elsewhere!
