Here's one of the reasons I went with Genaro. As a registered civil and structural engineer, I deal with general contractors daily as a full-time job. So you can say I have an eye out for lazy contractors. Genaro was the first contractor to arrive out of 5 roofing companies I reached out to. (Note High Mountain does way more than roofing, but my review is limited to this scope). Not only was he the first to arrive, but he was also the first to email me a professional quote. He took a good look and took accurate measurements. Accurate measurements allow him to have a competitive bid. His number came in lower than I had expected and before any other quote came in, I decided to sign him up. After a week, I did have lazy quotes come in and all were higher. My instinct was right about him. My house was built with T&G roof and foam insulation but lacked the plywood on top. (Shocking right!!) This was an obvious change order and as a structural engineer, I knew this was not covered in his original quote. Normally this would be a good opportunity for a huge change order, but his quote for the added service was very reasonable. Once the change order was approved he picked up 40 sheets of plywood within a day and started to install it the next day. Genaro is very price conscious and was willing to drive his truck down the hill to get better pricing. On top of that, I saw a very little delay in the schedule. I could see another contractor saying, "Well Big Bear is out of plywood so it will be another week. We'll come back another time." I was truly amazed at his good work ethic. In addition, Genaro has a big crew that comes to finish a job sooner, but I told him I was good with his timeline. So what is the advantage of having a big crew? Well if it's about to snow in 3 days, better get more people to cover up the roof with black paper! Sure enough, he made it in time for the storm! The inspection went smooth and the roof was completed before the storm. Skylight looks nice! Can't ask for more and will be recommending them to my friends and yes he's a local. I typically do not write a long review but seeing that High Mountain had 0 yelp review, I had to make it count.

Unfortunately, the gutters leak against the facia, and if left in this condition will do more damage than not having gutters. Jay's explanation was the metal roof flashing doesn't permit water to enter the rain gutters and should be replaced with a different type. I was surprised to hear this and thought a contractor claiming to have the experience that Jay says he has, would have been able to discern this before installation and would have advised his customer accordingly. Neither Jay nor his installer did, but they were quick to say that was the cause of leaks. At the end of the day, I'm disappointed in the final product and will have to make further modifications to make the product work as advertised.

Gilligan construction was recommended to us by our property manager. Brian came out to diagnose a…read morewater intrusion issue that another contractor either created or exacerbated when replacing our water main and then would not come out to fix their own work. He found the issue quickly and recommended some permanent fixes to keep the water from getting in under the foundation and into our build up and then lower level / storage closet after big rain storms or heavy snowfall. Brian was very communicative and transparent about the whole process. The pricing for the project was very reasonable. His crew retrenched the line, moved the stop and waste valve, installed a French drain, added a retention wall, and did several other things to thoroughly mitigate the water intrusion. They finally laid a cement pad in the front of the house to replace the original deck and to further keep water away from the foundation. Very pleased with the result and the timing in which they were able to complete the project. Daniel and the rest of the crew were very responsive, friendly, and were always available to answer any questions I had. I couldn't be happier and am confident that we wont have any issues moving forward with water intrusion at the front of our cabin. Thank you to everyone at Gilligan Construction!
