Last night at 5:59pm, we showed up for the McCall winter carnival fireworks that started at 7:00. A group of 6 showed up and parked in front of Mountain Java Espresso. We all wanted a evening latter and coffee for the next morning, so about 10 drinks. My father and Gf walked in bc the lights were on, people were in line waiting for their drinks. When we walked in, the barista with short blond hair was making drinks and then, following behind us through the main door; a dark-curly-past the shoulder-length hair-employee was huffy, locking the door. The dark-haired lady went behind the counter and start making the 3 peeps in front of us their drinks. My dad tried to get out the front door, the dark-haired lady locked behind us, to ask the rest of the group what coffee they wanted. My dad asked the dark-curly-haired employee how to get out and she said "we're closed"as we are already inside. The dark-haired employee started talking shit to the 3 peeps in front of us about how they are closed, while making their lattes. I said "Is their another place to get coffee around here, bc obviously it was to big of an issue to work 3 min over their shift". and "do you guys have a yelp". The dark haired client said I don't mind at all if you go somewhere else. I asked to leave and if they wanted me to walked behind the counter where the baristas were making coffee to get out (the employees side door) bc the employees were not going to open the front up again. The party of 3 in front of us walked out through the side door (behind the counter too where the baristas were making coffee). It was probably the rudest response ever. I asked the party of 3 in front of us when we walked out, was the bitch rude?? The female in the group of 3, who was also a business owner, 100% agreed that the dark-curly haired employee was out of line, talking shit to them about us. Our group heard this convo, asked what happened. I told part of our group what happened, from the sidewalk 20 feet away, looking in, and the dark curly-haired employee CONTINUED to talk shit (glaring, being sassy). The blond was quiet the whole time. After the dark-haired employee was flipped off by a girl in our group, from the obvious sass the employee was throwing from behind the door; The dark-haired employee flipped us back off, then opened the employee side door and said "you wanna go you fucking bitch" to the girl in our group. Some very colorful words were exchanged between the 2 girls and the dark-haired employee said "we'd love a review". Words were exchanged and we walked off. Oh yes my dads gf wasn't paying attention to what was going on, but also bought some pink granite-stone earrings from inside. Would have bought 10 drinks and tipped 20%, but only my dad and gf got their lattes. read more

Good place. The coffee was great and that's the most important thing. A small local shop with a few tables and soft music. Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 was that the atmosphere and presentation could have been better. I'm from out of town in WA and It was around 7am. I was hoping for the classic espresso in a ceramic cup and the friendly barista chatting about the area. That warm vibe that's hard to describe, but you know it when you feel it. The barista, who was one of the owners, was not rude or anything. He just handed me my latte breve in a paper cup and I sat down. I finally did get chatting with him and we talked about the shop and the town a little, but I had to make a concerted effort to get him chatting. A barista is like a bartender only better. he needs to set the mood. Don't hesitate to get a brew here. Next time I'm in town I plan to stop again. But I felt the areas where the shop could be made that much better deserved comment because a great coffee house is about more then just great coffee. Keep at it. read more

Just moved to McCall from the bustling suburbs of Chicago, with the abundance of coffee places in McCall I am THRILLED I popped into this quant, family owned coffee shop. With their beverages, you get what you pay for, drinks ARE NOT overpriced nor are they lacking flavor. I absolutely suggest the Mexican Mocha (one of my favorites that has been difficult to find outside of Illinois State University) Also, if you are not quite sure what you want to order, and one of the owners is working, they are more than happy to suggest drinks for you based on your flavor profiles. I refuse to go anywhere else for coffee in McCall. read more

Mountain Java is always great! High end coffee and fantastic service. They are doing an outdoor ordering system right now, so no public restrooms currently. I order black coffee and it's consistently good. My wife orders a soy vanilla latte and we also got some pastries and a kids hot chocolate for my son. Nice patio with lake views. We make sure to come here every time we visit! read more

Stopped here based on yelp reviews on the way through McCall...very cute place! Latte was yummy and they had some other baked goods and gluten free bars that looked good too. Also healthy looking bottled juice. We planned to walk around the lake with our drinks but spent a lot of time looking at the hilarious "bald guy greetings" cards they carry. read more

Perfect little coffee shop right on the Payette lake, it was absolutely awesome to wake up grab a nice mocha and just chill on the dock and just enjoy the absolute beauty of this gorgeous town. Small town nothing, this is big city coffee. They are heavy handed with the java, the chocolate and the fresh made whip cream (if that tickles your fancy). It's hands down the best lil coffee shop I have come across. They have tons of cookbooks to buy and cute kitchy cards and other little chatchkies to keep you entertained while you wait for your cup of Joe. I wish I lived closer because I would frequent this place daily (and did on my vacation). Be sure to stop in for a mocha because they use Godiva! read more

Mountain Java served up a nice latte within walking distance from the "downtown" area. The drinks were made up to my expectation and hit the spot when I needed my caffeine fix. My partner ordered a mocha and after trying it, left me with a bit of buyer's remorse with my plain latte. Next time, that is exactly what I will order. read more

Being in a tourist town you only have a few choices for coffee. This by far is the best! The location is great being right by the lake. Great outdoor seating for nice weather. The coffee, tea and treats are delicious. read more

Very nice people working there, customized my drink just the way I wanted it, were patient with my children, smiling the whole time. I ordered the dark chocolate mocha. Very good, not overpowered by sweetness. The kids had hot chocolate and loved it. Plenty of outside seating on the patio. It's been kind of rainy so most of it was wet. But I found one dry seat. Kids were cooperating so I was able to sit and enjoy the gorgeous view for a while. Can't wait to go again! read more

There will be a long line here for a reason....their coffee here is dark, rich, and delicious. We always order americanos with an extra shot and both the decaf and regular coffees turn out consistent and amazing every time. Their competitor down the steeet.....not so much. I think I had one good decaf americano at said competitor in the 15 years or so that we have vacationed in McCall. read more

Everyone in my family loved their drinks, and with all weird specialized drinks in this group that is a rare occurrence! Mom enjoyed her soy drink, Dad was a huge fan of his chai and my sister said her decaf drink was great while my quad shot was perfect! Best americano / espresso / cappuccino outside of Italy. A little harder to find than some of the rest but worth it.
