Chocolate brownies with huckleberry on top

100% the best ice cream in McCall. Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. You won't find another place in town who serves you mile high scoops for low prices. My favorite kinds are Peanut butter chocolate, huckleberry, brownie, double fudge. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Get it in a cone or cup and a local tip you can pick two flavors for one scoop. I usually get the little Sharlie with two flavors. Don't forgot your cash-they only take cash but there's also an ATM on site if you forget. Usually they'll be a line out the door but don't worry it goes pretty fast they have lots of workers scooping ice cream.

Tucked away in the space between two buildings just up from the iconic Hotel McCall, Ice Cream Alley has scooped up "mountain-sized portions of ice cream for more than four decades. The shop is only open between Memorial Day and shortly after Labor Day, but even during a shortened season, the lines can be quite long. But it's well worth waiting for and the line moves fairly quickly. The shop regularly offers 20 or so flavors, including Idaho favorite huckleberry, caramel caribou, coconut pineapple, that old-time rocky road and my favorite, lemon pie. Bring cash or a check because they don't accept plastic. But, really, who carries cash or checks anymore? Plan ahead people.

We recently stopped in at Ice Cream Alley upon many friends' recommendations. There was a line, it did move pretty fast. They were out of probably 5 of the flavors we want to try. Ultimately, they serve large portions but we weren't blown away by the quality of the ice cream. We were thrilled to try the Gelato cart down the street the next day.

Absolutely recommend this gem of an ice cream spot. The scoops are ridiculously big. I can't even imagine how someone would order more than their one scoop. For once I couldn't finish my "one scoop" of I cream. I'm not usually a birthday cake ice cream fan but there's was delicious. So was the cookies and cream. My girls were in heaven with their kids scoops too which were also ridiculously large. They also offer affogato which my husband was stoked about. They only take cash but it's worth it.

Serving size is very generous. Ice cream was quality and tasted great. Cash Only and ATM FEE $3.65. Seriously? Its 2024. Long wait Summer 2024 Menu in photos

This is 1 SCOOP! Fantastic! Cash only! I'm traveling for work out of town and was told to come to this local joint. It's worth the wait in line!

A must have while in Mccall. The ice cream is quite tasty and the one scoop is close one pound of ice cream. Really generous portions and an amazing friendly service. Enjoy.

A must visit, on my trip to Boise my friends and I visited this spot twice in two days -- great icecream and lots of flavor options. I tried the Huckleberry Sorbet the first time (as Huckleberry's popular in this area) and then Mint Chocolate Chip the 2nd time, both so tasty. Two things to note: 1) this is a popular spot so know you'll be waiting in line (worth it though) and 2) the portions are huge so unless you're starving for icecream, I'd recommend not sizing up

Over the years I have discovered that I rather enjoy this place. Another way to say it would be that a visit to McCall isn't complete with stopping by this place! They have excellent ice cream, and the one I always gravitate to is the huckleberry. I can get a small size on a waffle cone and be satisfied, the scoops are mountainous. They take scooping ice cream seriously, much like myself. No wimpy scoops here! I have found their vanilla to be good as well, but for some reason the huckleberry is my favorite. I have compared it to the Tillamook with more huckleberry in it--considering the smoothness and density of Tillamooks. The ice cream is hearty, thick, and delicious!

We made a reservation for 8pm on a Saturday, and honestly, they weren't packed (they still had plenty of tables open). When we arrived there was no one at the host stand, and when they came they didn't check us in right away. Once we confirmed the reservation it took about 10 minutes for us to be seated, and there was a couple that came after us that had a reservation at the same time and were seated before us (okay, no big deal). We did get a window seat, which was nice. But this is supposed to be an upper scale restaurant in the area, and the silverware we were given was dirty, so not a great start. The server came to take our order, we ordered mocktails and a huckleberry lemon drop as well as the bread basket and the cured meat and cheese plate- compared to the Cutwater, honestly, no comparison. The teens didn't even drink the mocktail (which the server did take off the bill, and that was nice) and the lemon drop was okay. The bread basket and meat plate were fine, but we wouldn't order them again. My son ordered the 12oz ribeye (which was nearly 60.00) and I would say at least 50% of it was fat, and his was overcooked. I ordered the flat iron, and mine was undercooked, so he ended up eating mine. The herb roasted potatoes needed seasoning and felt like something they simply tossed on the plate. My daughter's Caesar salad was as expected to a side salad. Our server never came to check on us after the food was brought out, and we waited for her to return after we were done with the food for nearly 20 minutes. Overall we were disappointed and not truly certain why this place is recommended above other similar places in town. Very expensive, seems like it is trying to be upscale or more "fine-dining" but it missed the mark for us.

We sat patiently for about 12 mins, then a server dropped off the check for one of the tables next to us and ignored us. A busboy came to clear their table and didn't pay attention to us. About 5 mins later another server dropped off the check to the other table next to us. I thought she would at least greet us - but she also ignored us and turned around to leave that table and was sure to turn so she faced away while turning around. After waiting for a very unreasonable amount of time we left. The restaurant was only about half full when we came in. All of the tables near us already had their food or had finished eating, so it's not like the sever was busy taking other orders or delivering meals to patrons. A horrible experience to say the least! Go find somewhere else. And - their online menu does not match their actual menu. We went a short distance down the street to the Cutwater Restaurant inside the Shore Lodge. We were greeted within 2 minutes of being seated. Very friendly service. A great view of the lake - a MUCH BETTER place for dinner.
