It's fresh bread so if you can't eat it - freeze it for later. We always stock up. Ask if they have fresh pizza dough for sale. On our last visit they did create a small space for inside seating near the huge oven that was transported from Europe and rebuilt here in the states. Pretty cool. Best. Sandwich. Ever. Yes it is common to show up and unfortunately find that they are closed even during the hours they are supposed to be open. Just check back before lunchtime the next day. Be persistent because it's so worth it to finally try one of these bad boys!! These sandwiches are best enjoyed in the beautiful outdoors of McCall, whether on a hike, at a waterfall, or in your own backyard. They are so good that I always save the second half for another meal so I can enjoy it one more time. My husband and I went in to order sandwiches. When inside, you fill out a piece of paper marking down what you want on your sandwich. I filled out my piece of paper and put it on the counter towards a man waiting for it. The man standing behind the counter, I found out was the owner, grabbed my piece of paper, slammed it down into a basket on the counter while he yelled at me saying, "Can't you people figure this out! The paper needs to be put in this basket!! Wow, I didn't mean to irritate him by not placing the paper in the basket. No customer needs to be treated with such disrespect. The owner, of all people, to scream at his customer. We left and won't be back. read more

Not clear that this place is a going concern. I had the misfortune of being 'quarantined' in this beautiful town for a week (tested + before a rafting trip) and stayed a week at the Holiday Inn Express next door. On Saturday, the sign said 'closed, open Sunday' - puzzling as they are supposed to be closed Sunday. Ok, so I come Sunday- CLOSED. I walked by almost daily and it was always closed. Building dark. Good sandwiches if you can tolerate the rude, indifferent, very poor customer service! The owner/staff do not give a shit if you are patronizing and supporting their small business or not. They could care less that you came in to order and they/he will let you clearly know that! My experience any (every) time I am able to find them open has been demeaning to say the least. One particular (older) man is extremely disrespectful and likes to humiliate. I keep hoping the establishment will put some capable staff at the front counter who actually like people and are friendly and helpful with questions, especially to those that do not know the ordering process or are unfamiliar with the menu. Word of mouth in McCall is that Evening Rise is fantastic. Several family members insist. On the other hand, both times I walked into this illustrious sandwich shop with its cheerful facade, old Celtic lettered sign and outdoor seating I was greeted with... Oh, never mind. Both times I was never greeted. Not at all. Not a hello. Not a wave. No one even looked up. What I was greeted with (a sign of their success in McCall) was a long, long line (over 6 people deep of customers.) Despite the room being small, close quarters, and all people walking in being completely visible to the proprietors, there wasn't any type of friendly hello or acknowledgement. Not, "Hi, we'll be right with you. Wait times are running about three minutes! Hang in there!" Nothing. So I just waited. I'm still not sure where that line started or ended. It never moved. After five minutes or so waiting in line without any movement, or acknowledgement, I quickly became completely disenchanted with this place. I love an artisan sandwich with fresh ingredients, but I also like good customer service. This was a confusing, unpleasant experience both times. Maybe this place is dealing with an embarrassment of riches, and so they haven't managed to improve their process to greet and serve more than one or two customers at a time. Come to think of it, I'n still not sure if those weren't the same people there that were waiting from the last time.... Anyway, I was so frustrated with waiting that I willingly walked the two doors down to Subway (and I can't stand Subway, really) to get a sandwich. At Subway. Pretty much right next door. Guess what? ZERO STARS!!!! I absolutely loved the platinum haired cashier. She was extremely helpful, kind and personable. The sandwiches were fantastic and we really wanted to give this place fiver stars, HOWEVER as we were cleaning our table one of the older staff members wearing a leather fedora made several rude comments and kicked my wife's hands as she was picking something from the floor. They were out of sandwich fixings when we came by- a few hours before closing. They did sell us some bread but it was $5 for not the most flavorful bread I've ever had. The lady at the counter seemed annoyed like she had no interest in customer service. Kind of a bummer because we made a special trip to come here and I really wanted to like this place. Fantastic sandwiches. I mean really, really fantastic sandwiches. The owner is a talented baker, the breads are fantastic, and they don't short-stack the fixings by any stretch of the imagination. HOWEVER, it can sometimes be compared to the Seinfeld "soup nazi" episode. Catch Corey on a bad day and you'll wish you had gone elsewhere. Personally, I can tolerate grouchy service from time-to-time since the food is friggin' amazing. People complaining about not being greeted on the way in the door? Toughen up! read more

I am no stranger to the scent of a good bakery. Ok, ok, I am no stranger to the TASTE of a good bakery. I mean, look at me. Poke my tummy and I giggle just like the Dough Boy. I have never had bread even close to this good anywhere else. These guys make various loaves depending on what ingredients are in season and I don't ever need to call ahead and see what they are making because whatever it is will be tasty. I've had cherries, plums, apricots, nuts, and assorted cheeses among other chunks of goodness baked into my bread here. Have them slice it or slice it yourself, but do yourself a favor and toast these and butter them up. This bread toasts beautifully. Nice and crisp on the outside, but chewy and soft inside. They make really dense bread and the texture and flavor combination achieved is fabulous. You have to look for this place. There is a small road off the highway downtown and you could easily miss it. Use GPS, Yahoo! Maps, do whatever you need to do, but make sure you try this bread if you are in McCall. read more

It is not any sort of hyperbole when I say Evening Rise has the best sandwiches I have ever had. These guys use bread that is freshly baked every morning in house and PILE various types of deli meats onto these oversized sandwiches. They use fresh vegetables and homemade dressings and aiolis in some sort of sick and twisted attempt to dominate customers with tasty goodness. I cannot recommend this place any stronger. read more

An excellent bakery, i had the french bread and jalapeno cheese bread and both were delicious. Don't use the yelp or Google maps directions. It's on sunset st on the West side of 3rd st/hwy 55 right by Subway. The building is being renovated so if it looks like a construction site, you found it. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! ZERO STARS! The customer service is wretched, the sandwiches are small and overpriced, and you're actually unlikely to get a sandwich at all. One time we went there and the owner got upset that it was busy and just closed before we could order. Another time we went there they said it would be a 45 minute wait. The owners and workers are extremely rude. If there is any sort of confusion about an order, it is always the customers fault and they get extremely agitated. It's pretty much like the soup nazi from Seinfeld. I literally created a Yelp account just to review this place because the experience was so poor. If you love being treated like a burden, love paying 11 dollars for pathetically small and cold sandwiches, love waiting 45 mins to an hour for said sandwich, love being treated passive aggressively or being treated with zero respect, this place is for you. Best sandwiches in McCall, and probably all of Central Idaho, but God it can be so frustrating trying to get one. Went there three times over the week we were in McCall. Every time, there was a sign saying their business hours during the winter were 11:00-4:00, but every time no one was there. Called a few times but nothing on the answering machine saying "we'll be closed for the week" or anything like that. I've been many times during the summer, and it's not much better: waiting and waiting. Great food, bad service, and not run as a professional shop at all. Subways is right around the corner, and I think half their customers are people that are fed up with Evening Rise. Another case of good food, bad business. read more

Zero stars because this was one of the worst and weirdest sandwich restaurants I have ever been to. To start everything out this "sandwich maker" who was clearly an agitated man got confused on my sandwich order and didn't even look at the ticket which they supply and I filled out thoroughly. I'm not sure why they have the tickets if they don't know how to read them... After taking back the incorrect sandwich they game me and politely requesting the correct sandwich, the sandwich-maker bellowed a sarcastic "great!" and then proceeded to spike the sandwich into a trash can like a pro football player who just scored the game winning TD. After seeing how they reacted and how they basically tried blaming me for their mistake I should have just gotten a refund and walked out but my stomach was rumbling after a long bike ride and I needed food, so when they offered to make the new one I begrudgingly said okay. Upon returning to pick up the correct sandwich I stayed silent but was greeted with angry stares and even had one of the chefs passive aggressively insult my shirt (grow a set of balls and throw a proper insult at least man!). I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere and just to top it off this so called "warm" sandwich I ordered was ice cold and was a pathetic portion for $9.50, so I guess they are thieves as well as piss poor food service employees. Upon arriving in McCall this last time, we eagerly went to ERB for our favorite sandwiches. To be polite, I wanted to make sure the sandwich ticket ahead of us was made before ours. The guy (won't consider calling him a gentleman) made a rude condescending remark to me. I honestly wish I would have just turned around and left. The guy proceeded to be a huge A$$HOLE, including griping that I was paying with a credit card and that he is going to start offering cash discounts. Honestly, he was such a d!ckhead, completely ruined the experience and I will NEVER give these chumps my business again. Evening Rise consistently produces high-quality, flavorful and unique artisan breads. In fact, if you don't get there early, they often sell out. In addition, they make THE BEST deli sandwiches in the southern Idaho. Fat, Dagwood-style sandwiches, made-to-order. Unless you're in NYC, doesn't get much better than this. Additionally, the desserts (brownies, avalanche bars, ginger cookies) are unbeatable. Great prices to boot. Great sandwich, amazing bread. I can't say much more. All ingredients are amazing, even the pickle, but make sure you circle it on your bread form. They are not the most friendly in town, but the sandwich is worth it. Just make sure you fill the slip out correctly and you have time to wait.
