I have been using Mountain Laurel for over 40 years for our Gatlinburg visits... most recently we stayed in Secret Hideaway.... This chalet was one of the best we have used... First off, very close to town which was very nice, the chalet itself is a recent rebuild and is equipped with all the modern upgrades. We did stop at the office and chatted with folks there - very friendly and had typical southern charm and hospitality.. they even had a little "road package" for us... nice touch... In February, 2025, my wife and I decided to change our property management to Mountain Laurel Chalets and the homes went active with them in May and June 2025. Two things stand out. (1) For the first time in about 3 years, walking into a cleaned home, I had the feeling that everything in the house was in order, clean, organized and ready to tell the next guest, "we're glad you're hear, we prepared this for you" (2) recently we had a high water bill and I sent that information to the Mountain Laurel Chalets maintenance point of contact. She had already identified the problem, fixed the problem and had the reports from the water supply company to prove the water use was reduced. WOW!!! We now have a sense of calm, working with a management company that puts the customer (us and the guests) first and works to provide an excellent product. read more

Found this chalets rental company through a Google search and the rates were decent. I booked in advance to our trip into Gatlinburg. The check-in process was easy as you just pick up the key from the management office. Renting a cabin gives you access to their clubhouses, there are there scattered about the area. We rented the cabin at 918 Echo Place. The cabin itself was beautiful and a nice location. It is 2 floors. Had 1 bedroom a nice size living room with high ceilings and windows and a fireplace (we didn't use because I could not figure out how or if it worked), a decent sized kitchen, did have some appliances and kitchen utensils but no wine opener which sucked for us. The upstairs had a tv and a pool table which was cool. There's a door upstairs that was broken and didn't lock, had a stick to place to lock. However, beyond the door is a walkway to an outside jacuzzi. We definitely took advantage of the jacuzzi which was a nice added feature. Overall the cabin was enjoyable and I would have given this company a better rating. It was the checkout experience that soured the experience. When calling for a late checkout, they did extend it till 12PM. I was told it would be an additional $100 for a late checkout at 1:30 PM. But they said if the key was returned a minute later than 12PM we would be charged for a late checkout. It was a rude way to go about it. Especially since you have to be out at 11:45am technically to return the key to the management office by 12PM. Overall I would still recommend this cabin rental company, but the customer service could be a bit more friendly. Side note : FYI rent a car! Cabs are not regularly available! read more

BEWARE of their cancellation policy. I booked and the written policy basically states if you cancel early enough, you get a full refund minus the admin fee & 10%. They don't tell you the actually admin fee because it's a scam. My original cost was $834 and canceling over 2.5 months early, they're keeping almost $400! Admin fee almost $220 plus tax?!? That's shady and should be criminal. I will never dare entertain doing business with this company again. read more

So much to say about "Bella Vista". Wanted so badly to love this cabin. The pictures of this rental were absolutely stunning, and the view looked amazing. Didn't see too many poor reviews, until after we had passed the refund period. Dirty, SO dirty. So many cobwebs in corners, above the fireplace, hanging from the ceiling. Killed a few spiders, one of which ran across the dining table. Also killed a cockroach running through the dining room. The problem is, the weather stripping on the entry doors (deck side) has a huge gap in it, so anything can crawl right in. Dust on top of the doorways, trim, in the bathroom fan. In the kitchen, a small wooden cookbook holder appeared to have been eaten through by termites or some other type of wood burrowing insect and piles of saw dust were on the kitchen shelf....clearly it hadn't been cleaned before our visit. The tub in the old bathroom is cracked. The new bathroom needs major cleaning. Mildew around the shower, the trim is filthy and never got painted after they put it up. In the master bedroom, they put up new curtains & curtain rods, but the old bracket is STILL on the wall above the one window. The ceiling light in the new bathroom is burnt out, also the microwave light (surface light) is burnt out. So many things going on in this rental. It desperately needs a deep, DEEP clean, and major maintenance. Also the new young trees that are growing on the property need trimming. The view of downtown Gatlinburg is now completely blocked. The good news is, we did have a couple bears on the property, that was a nice surprise. And the size of the kitchen is great!!Overall, really disappointed in our stay, for the fact that I spent hard earned money on this cabin, and it wasn't cheap. Our stay was the week of August 10th, we didn't have a car & this was an issue the area is not really recommended for walking our mistake duly noted for future reference. Our cabin was at 918 Echo Place, walking in u see a Table & BBQ set up outside, the cabin is 2 floors kitchen, living room, bathroom & bedroom are below while upstairs you have a hang out area with a pool table, u head outside & u have the Jacuzzi set up very nice. Cabin has high ceilings, tall glass windows, clean & nicely decorated. No toiletries aside from a small soap in the bathroom, fireplace did not quite work? Plus the door heading out to the Jacuzzi was held closed by a stick! The Kitchen they do provide dishes & pans to use, some kitchen utensils as well I was shocked that they did not have a wine opener? Seems like they should! They did have other tools not in the best condition but at least they had something. I wanted to give this place the 4 starts because the cabin itself was lovely but settled on the 3 because first check out is 11am, too early! We were able to get the "late" check out at 12pm but not really because u don't even get the full hour since u have to return the key by 12.. Now we had asked about a later check out initially till 130pm they said it would cost $100, why so much? when we asked for the 12pm check out they said the key had to be back by 12 "not a minute later" otherwise u would be charged $100 dollars honestly this was just plain rude!! The day we left happen to be a crappy morning since it was raining we would have paid the $100 had they been nicer about it just simply because we had the time to kill & didn't want to spend it at the airport. This was a decent rental for the time we were there but because of their rudeness chances are we would not rent from them again. read more

I had the MOST amazing 2 week stay with Mountain Laurel Chalets in their newly renovated Dogwood Cottage in May 2020! Spacious rooms, immaculately clean, peaceful mountain views from enormous windows, sparkling hot tub under the stars, and even a few friendly bear visits!! The all-new kitchen is fantastic. Very poor customer service! I had called requesting to talk to a supervisor multiple times with refusal to talk to me in real time during a booked stay in one of their cabins. I have sent an email with my recent experience, no response from the company whatsoever. Initial stay was wonderful, on the way home from the first stay I booked the second stay...we were repeat customers but this "family run" company showed no appreciation for the repeat business and have continued to ignore my requests to speak to someone aside from the gals who work in the office who kept saying "let me call my supervisor and call you back" when I asked questions and expressed my disappointment in their customer service or lack there of, I was told by the same gals "this is what my supervisor told me" but I could never talk to the supervisor directly despite repeated requests to do so....so much for a "family run" business who prides themselves on caring for their customers, this was the exact opposite experience my family and I had. Overall, not sure why they pride themselves on being in the business for years....a person with sweat equity in the company would care enough to talk to a repeat customer (any customer for that matter) over their concerns and have the respect to either call them back or email them and respond to a detailed, lengthy, email requesting discussion and resolution involving a customers concerns. Salvage the bad experience and come up with a solution instead of blatantly avoiding and ignoring the customer. Due to the lack of their willingness to work with us and provide some sort of solution to the concerns, we were forced to dispute the charges with the credit card (almost $2,000) because after repeated attempts to speak to a supervisor or owner, we continued to be ignored and have still not heard from them until this day. This company is far from professional and demonstrated how little they cared about their customer. They clearly didn't need our business and we are happy to take our business elsewhere. Consumers avoid the hassle and frustration, gatlinburg has dozens of other choices for lodging who actually care about their customers unlike Mountain Laurel Chalet as per our very recent experience. The staff and owners should take some courses on customer service and hospitality!! read more

Mountain laurel chalet property On the Rocks The only good thing about this property was the view. Otherwise the chalet is old and dirty, visible cobwebs, peeling wallpaper, stained furniture, musty smell, steep scary driveway, jacuzzi was either too hot 108 degrees or making noises keeping us up all night. The worst part of this experience however was the way the staff treated me at the office. I have never complained on air B and B or VRBO before and when I went in the ask if there was anywhere else I could park I was basically told that my only option was that I could "leave and get my money back". I proceeded to explain that no where on VRBO listing did it say steep dangerous driveway and needs to alert people that you need 4 wheel drive or else you will slide backwards. Almost every person In the guest book on the coffee table commented on the scary steep driveway. I was told by staff that the main website said low vehicles may scrape which is not the same in my opinion and I asked that they inform the VRBO listing to outline this very important detail. I understand that TN has steep hills but again guests should be made aware of how steep the drives are on VRBO (which yes you can make sure it is listed on the VRBO site which the staff) especially when you are spending $1900 for five nights I absolutely do not recommend this property or Mountain Laurel Chalets in Gatlinburg TN. read more

Laurel Lodge - cabin name I planned a New Years trip for a group of friends and decided Gatlinburg would be the place after finding a cabin that could accomodate all of us. The cabin slept 24 adults (two floors with 12 bedrooms/bathrooms and a 1/2 bathroom on each floor). We had 22 adults and 2 kids come along for this trip and everyone had their own space. On the top floor was 6 bedrooms (each with their own bathroom), a half bathroom, a full kitchen (stocked with plates, cups, bowls, pots, pans, utensils, knives...pretty much anything you can think of instead of spices in a kitchen), dining room tables that sat 22 people and a counter that could sit 4 people, if needed. On the same floor was a common living area with a fireplace, two couches and a wrap around porch with two charcoal grills. On the bottom floor was 6 bedrooms (each with their own bathroom), a half bathroom, a game room with a pool table, fireplace, two couches, washer/dryer and another fridge. There was also a porch with a large hot tub. Price - each adult paid less than $200 for 5 days/4 nights. We also cooked all of our meals...so would say roughly the trip cost around $250/person. Granted...this didn't include alcohol. Everyone was responsible for bringing their own. I do have a few cons about the cabin. One...the drive up to the cabin was a bit tricky. A week before we arrived it snowed about a foot and stayed below freezing until we got there. That being said...the roads were covered in ice/snow and pretty windy. Having a 4 wheel drive would have make it much easier. We all ended up making it up to the cabin, but we did have to push a few cars up the driveway. I would suggest getting there during the day and having 4 wheel drive would be key. Might be a good idea to purchase snow chains too for your tires. Two...three of the people ended up getting bug bites in the house. This could have been just because we were in "nature/woods", but it's something that needs to be known. Three...grills are charcoal, which you have to bring yourself. You can end up spending a good amount on charcoial if you decide to grill a lot. Overall...I was pleased with the size of the house and everything it offered us. read more

Wonderful stay, but with Sad End Our stay was at Mountain Laurel House. For NYear 2020 Holliday. The same review below I sent to Mountain Laurel Chalets team, but of course they didn't publish it. "We loved our stay. The location was what we wanted. The house was perfect for our family. We had a great time. Unfortunately, we had a sad end. I forgot my underwear bag (with printed name Victor Hugo on it) in the second drawer of the dresser in the suite located in the level of the house which the pool table is. As soon as I unpackage my luggage, which was in the same day that we left the house, I sent a message to Mrs. Cheryl about it. Mrs Cheryl told me, she got the information from her housekeepers' team that nothing was found. No one of the Mountain Laurel Chalets` team was able to find my underwear bag? Sounds ridiculous, but it is true. However, as I told to Mrs. Cheryl, I state with absolute certainty that I forgot my underwear bag in the house." I am very disappointed with such attitude. read more

We got a cabin that slept 24 (22 adults and 2 children) and we each had a bedroom and private bath. There was a huge kitchen with 2 stove/oven combies, 2 dishwashers, one huge fridge and a freezer, albeit in a utility closet off the kitchen. Also included was a pool table, hot tub, wi-fi, big screen TVs that we enjoying playing our Wii on, and plenty of sitting areas both up and downstairs. One down side was the drive up a very windy, frozen driveway. We were told during the reservation process that there would be a vehicle that we could use to take us up if we didn't have 4 wheel drive, but as we arrived, we were told it was unavailable and that there was not enough parking at the office to accommodate us anyway. NOT happy as a few of us slid around attempting to get up the drive way. Another downer was finding the cabin. There's a bunch of unmarked roads and the driveways were not marked clearly for those arriving at night, so we had to stop several times, turn around, and get out to look at signs to figure out where we were. I suggest getting there during the day and getting directions as our GPS didn't even recognize the road we were on to the cabin. read more

The only reason I'm giving this property 4 stars is because when we checked in to move into our cabin, they had checked in another guest into our rental and didn't bother to ID the guest who claimed to be us. I was told this was "the first time this has ever happened" but it didn't make me feel any better. However, the management staff gave me a partial refund and several free gifts so I appreciated that. Despite the mess up, we WILL be rebooking with this property. Our cabin -Paradise Point I - was absolutely beautiful. The jacuzzi was nice and clean and a fun way to relax. I have rented from different chalet companies in the past, but never from Mountain Laurel before. I found the prices to be WAY higher than other companies, and the cabin to be not supplied well. The basic amenities were not in the cabin. I was not told about the $300 deposit when I made my booking, and my credit card was charged the same day. It wasn't even a pending amount. It was fully charged. I am still waiting to receive the credit. When I called I was told it would take 7-10 days to refund the deposit. That is ridiculous...Even as the cabin was cleaner than we found it. I also did not like the fact that checkout is at 11:00. Other companies will let you stay until noon. We rented a 4 bedroom cabin from this company a couple weekends ago, with 3 other couples. We loved the place itself and it was well-equipped enough to make dinner, breakfast, etc. comfortably. Spacious enough for all 8 of us and a beautiful view. However, after being there for 2 nights, I woke up with bug bites on my arms, leg, and neck that I thought were hives initially (since I sometimes get random allergic reactions), until they started showing up on my husband's hands and arms as well. He called the company and they told us they do monthly bed bug checks, but would send someone up to the cabin we had just checked out of to make sure. They called back and told us they did indeed find bed bugs in the room we had stayed in. They did fully refund us but we have spent the last 2 weeks itching and worried to death that we could have brought them back to our house and even having an exterminator come check to give us peace of mind. I know bed bugs are a risk anywhere you rent, but felt it necessary to make potential renters aware. read more

We have stayed at three different Chalets and have been impressed by each one and that includes the pet friendly! The huge difference is the overall quality. Terrifying Black Bear Nightmare and Driveway Reservation Scam I learnt a valuable lesson $324.79 for not Googling Mountain Laurel Chalets Cabins Sugar Booger. I rented the cabin 5/23/2014 for 2 nights. I did make the driveway in my 2014 Chrysler 300. When I made the reservations for the Mountain Laurel Chalets cabin, I was not told about the very sharp driveway and the black bears. They were laughing in the office saying you will need a 4x4 vehicle and kept laughing. The driveway has a couple of very sharp turns which you will be needing a 4x4 truck or Jeep that is high up. My problem was not with the driveway it was with 4 bears. Once we pulled up and settle in front of the cabin we had a welcome committee waiting for us. 4 huge black bears that was around between 300 and 500 pounds and they were within 50ft. away. I was unable to retrieve a bag that I drop as I jumped back into the car. We were afraid of our lives and I called Mountain Laurel Chalets office and was told to give them a few minutes and they will leave. We waited about 40 minutes and only 1 bear walked away in which we met leaving the property. We drove straight back to Mountain Laurel Chalets office and was told to talk to the office manager on Saturday. Saturday I went there and talked to the office manager and was told that the owner will be there on Sunday. I called back Sunday and talked to the owner and I was told "NO REFUNDS" not even a partial refund. I stated that I turned everything in on Friday and I was sure that I should get half a refund. The owner laughed we cannot control the bears. I was also told that the people that rented the cabin before us must had feed the bears and I will not get a refund. I told the owner that I was then going to give Mountain Laurel Chalets a bad review on which the owner told be you cannot threaten me. I told the owner that I have been driving in the mountains of Virginia since 15 years old and the driveway really wasn't the problem but it was the 4 black bears. About 15 minutes later I drove over to the office and called Gatlinburg Police and told them that I had a problem with Mountain Laurel Chalets 440 Ski Mountain Road. The Gatlinburg Police made a incident report out on Sunday May 25th. If you notice that Mountain Laurel Chalets Cabins Sugar Booger has two glass front doors. If we started to cook in the cabin, how was the two glass doors going to keep the black bears out. I made an executive decision by not staying at Mountain Laurel Chalets Cabin Sugar Booger. I am on heart medications and this was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. I have very nice bear pictures which everyone likes on my FaceBook. read more

This was my first experience in the mountains. The staff was very helpful and professional and accommodating in helping me to find the best fit for my company and stay. We stayed at the Mountain Laurel which was a very beautiful cabin. The pictures ae spot on, very clean, fresh and had all the things we needed for our stay and the pool table was a great highlight. You need to bring what you want to eat or drink because after night falls you will have a hard time getting up the hills. This was my second time at mountain laurel chalets and like the first time it was fantastic. It's a long haul from CA to Gatlinburg but this property made every mile worth it. The staff were professional, the cabins we're well designed and equipped. The attention to detail was everywhere. We we're a little concerned coming in that the residue from the fires would diminish our stay but that was not the case. Nature is rebuilding quickly and the early spring beauty of the Smokey's provided a restful, soul restoring few days. read more

This is a terrible rental company and property. Arrived at our chalet, View Catcher, was aware this was an older property, but decided to take a chance on it. The smell of bleach was so offensive the minute the door was opened. Called the office was told we could move to a three bedroom but would be required to pay the difference. I have stayed with Mountain Laurel Chalets numerous times. We even rented a cabin for our honeymoon. The staff has been pleasant, with the exception of one time. On the night of our wedding, the road to our cabin was closed due to bad weather. I phoned several times to see when we could gain passage to our cabin (I had no where to dress for our wedding), and was basically told that I had called too many times. Other than that, the cabins have been basically clean. You will however see dust and cob webs in most of the chalets you rent. The reason I did not give them more than two stars is because now, if you don't buy their renter's insurance, they require you to pay a $300. deposit, in addition to the price of your rental and fees. the fees have increased in price as well. There is a new service fee and a security deposit in addition to the renter's deposit. The renter's deposit is refundable, but hey...you need all the accessible extra cash you can get while on vacation! I've never left a cabin in shambles or ill repair. This last time I called to make a reservation, they made me aware of the new $300. deposit policy. I told the lady my name and had her look up my account. They've never had a problem with me. She agreed and said, "Well, it's only been a few people who have made it bad for everyone else." I understand that, but still am not happy about the new policy. Mountain Laurel Chalets have had my business for the last 12 years. Even though I can understand why, I don't like the new renter's insurance policy and will not be staying with them again. I plan to try Chalet Village, which has cabins located on the same mountain (Ski Mountain) as Mountain Laurel. read more

Since I live in Knoxville, I have rented a lot of chalets in my lifetime. The last rental with Mountain Laurel Chalets was in a place called Heavens Edge. I was very disappointed. The chalet smelled like mold & the carpet was dirty & stained. The hot tub had stuff floating in it... and what's the point of having an indoor jacuzzi when the hot water heater is not big enough to heat it up? The chalet that I stayed at was very nice but I will not return because of the staff. The women that work there are VERY unfriendly. They look miserable. They are friendly on the phone when they are getting your credit card information but unfriendly when you get there. I stood there waiting for someone to help me at check-in. There were several people in the office. Finally I got a lady to help me but looked aggrivated because maybe she had to help me because no one else wanted too??? All i wanted to do was check-in not get an attitude. At checkout it was a different lady who took the key & when I said thank you I got silence. Won't be back. read more

I wish I would have had an experience that was a 4.7! This was my 1 year anniversary get away and "baby moon". This was a HUGE deal to us, yet it was nothing but a let down. We stayed at "Rippling Waters". Which is advertised as being closest chalet to the attractions of Gatlinburg. Perfect! Until you see it is right off the main road and so be prepared for all the noises in which you were trying to escape by not staying in a hotel. This is also located in a very run down, dirty part of the neighborhood. Needless to say the outside was not where we took some cute memory filled pictures. And neither was the inside. Pictures of this place are so far from off it isn't even funny. So much dirt, stains, holes and things falling apart it is ridiculous they still book people until it's fixed. At this point I started taking pictures. Please do not waste your money on this place, or at least if you do spend your money with this backwards company be fair warned! I can not be in a hot tub. They are so relaxing but not allowed while pregnant. Next best thing is the jacuzzi tub. I looked so forward to nice bubble baths in a little cabin in the woods. I got a tiny apartment size home in the middle of a parking lot off the main road in a bathtub that leaked and had to be turned off until the company could order parts to fix it. Dream ruined. Then to top off my stay... MICE! 3 nights in this place and we specifically stayed gone as much as possible so we didn't have to be in the filth all the time. Now, if you are still thinking of booking a stay here after all the pics and info listed, if something breaks you're SOL and it won't be fixed, be prepared for rude service. No one in the front office talks to one another so, be prepared to explain to situation to multiple people multiple times just to get the run around and "I don't knows". Management is not upon your request. You work on their time. Didn't you know that's how a good business is ran now? And you will be called a liar. A LOT. Even with pictures they dispute me and are unwilling to accommodate. The very first night there unwilling to fix the leak. The next morning unwilling to offer me another chalet to stay in. Then unwilling to compensate for my by far unpleasant experience when they "guarantee you'll enjoy your stay". Never again!! So here it is-staying at this location? Take your gun, mouse traps, ear plugs and back up money for a hotel!! read more

I have been to Gatlinburg many times and stayed in different chalets. This was my first time staying with Mountain Laurel Chalets and my last. The chalet was dirty and very old. My family and I were very disappointed with these conditions and will not be staying with this company again. read more
