If you need a vet that will leave their post surgery patients neglected and laying in their own urine then you have come to the right place. Seriously, in what world is it okay to leave a surgery patient laying in their own urine?! They also won't care if you happen to lose employment over the post surgery complications that they caused. They only care about the money, not the innocent lives or the people responsible for them. My poor boy's legs and belly were dripping wet when I picked him up the morning after a TPLO surgery. He was completely scared of the two girls that came to my truck to get him... I have never seen him cower from anyone in his 10 years of life so that was very suspicious. He literally loves everyone, no exceptions! I was treated as an annoyance because I wanted him cleaned after his urine soaked bandage was removed. They completely wrapped and immobilized his leg instead of taping on a drainage bandage(since the urine soaked original had to be cut away)and I'm still watching him limp from the atrophy that caused. They prescribed the wrong dosage of his meds when he had a fever and abnormal swelling. I definitely should have went to the vet that did his first surgery, not one issue with them only speedy recoveries. read more

I want to start by saying that the staff is incredibly kind and helpful, especially the ladies at the front desk. Unfortunately, my last few experiences at this vet were terrible. In June, I brought my 14 year old German Shepherd mix to get some lumps removed on her leg. Because this clinic is always extremely busy, I spoke to a doctor whom I had never seen before (and he informed me that he wasn't even a vet). I actually really liked speaking to him. He was very knowledgeable and caring. He informed me that the lumps on my dog's leg were cancerous and the best options were either to amputate the leg or to soon perform humane euthanasia. He also let me know that because my dog was old, amputation would be very difficult for her. I chose to manage the pain with medication until the lumps made her uncomfortable, then I would bring her in so they could put her down. In July, it had already come to that point. I brought her in with a broken heart. We saw Dr. Olaveson this time, and he did not seem informed about the situation at all. I filled him in, and he said that he could remove the lumps. I was filled with so much hope and was so grateful. After surgery, they had to keep my dog for 2 extra days. I was confused because they kept telling me that she was still bleeding. She had a tube that was draining all the blood from her leg, and the bleeding hadn't stopped yet. This tube was news to me. I was never informed ahead of time that she would have a tube. 3 days after surgery, the bleeding had stopped, and I was able to pick up my dog. Once I got her home, the tubes were pouring blood again. My dog was also constantly panting, whining, and crying out in pain. I called the emergency line of the vet and spoke directly to Dr. Olaveson. He told me the bleeding was normal and that he would not prescribe any more pain meds because she was fine. I explained that my dog has never acted like this, even when she had other surgeries. As if to shrug his shoulders, he said, "It's a painful procedure, and all dogs experience pain differently," and that was that. The next few days were miserable, and my dog's incision started coming unstitched. I felt like I was constantly calling and visiting Mountain River to make sure things were ok, and I was always informed that she was fine. On day 6 after her surgery, her incision was gaping open. I visited Dr. Olaveson one more time; again, I needed to fill him in. He looked at the incision and said it looked perfectly fine. I was shocked and decided to take my dog to a different clinic. This clinic told me that her incision was not fine and they would need to do another procedure to fix it. They also wanted to change all the medication that my dog was put on. They could tell she was in so much pain, and they wanted to prescribe 2 additional pain meds to add to the 1 she was already taking, and change the antibiotic completely. After discussing how long recovery would take and that the cancer is very likely going to come back, we decided to put her down. I feel completely awful that in my dog's last week of life, she was in so much pain. Dr. Olaveson was disorganized and apathetic to the pain my dog experienced. read more

Very unprofessional. Our fur baby is currently suffering due to their negligence. I am actually very curious if anyone at this vet even has the proper credentials to treat animals. We are absolutely mortified by what they have done, and they STILL have our fur animal, doing more treatments, charging more money. Does anyone at this office know what they are doing?? We are going into week 4 of a nightmare from hell with this vet. Don't let the 5 stars from other people fool you, emergency situations are not treated properly here. read more

We have had them take care of three of our furry family. They have always been courteous and professional . They do a good job of educating and explaining what is going on with our pets.you have the option to see your own vet in an emergency for s fee which is better than the animal hospital in my opinion. If you have an emergency during the day and no app are available you can walk in for a small add fee , which is better than the pet emergency room . I have had to wait in the room for a while but again you get all the time you need with dr waddoups. Sometimes some confusion at the desk but they are always cautious . It's a busy place . My entire family sees dr waddouos and am happy to wait if needed . Wonderful office . read more

We had a veterinary emergency Friday night. After several consultations our option was to have surgery or call and see if a mountain River had a scope. Dr Garth agreed to meet us at 9pm and had a scope to see what was going on with our pup. He and Deann were so calm and professional. They worked for several hours on our dog and we ended up needing surgery. Dr Garth handled the surgery and kept our pup for a day. Very disappointed. Called ahead for an emergency weekend call. My friend talked to the vet directly on the phone. She told him that she would not be able to pay in full today for the services, but that she would do what she could today and make a payment plan for additional payments. The vet said that was fine with him. Upon arriving, we checked in, then while I was in a different room, they informed her she would need to pay in full today. I had gone along for moral support and also for financial backup. But no, they did not even give her an option to talk to me regarding payment, nor the respect for them to ask me if I would be willing to make the payment. The next time I saw her she was walking out the door crying. They had refused her service and told her it was time to leave. She made no contention or rebuttal. She was devastated. I was tempted to go in and talk to them regarding this, but then realized I really didn't want to give my money a veterinarian that would not stand behind his word when over the phone he had agreed to, and said he would take payments. Also, his office staff was quite distant and inconsiderate in the matter. When upon initial contact I had tried to interact with them, they were anything but warm and genuine in their conversation. I would not recommend them for Vetinary care to anyone with pets such as cats and dogs. They may be fine for cattle and horse owners, I don't know. read more

I came all the way from Northern California to have a bunch of vet work done on my Shih Tzu! Granted my daughter works there, I still give them 10 stars if I could!! I could not have received better service here in California! The doctors are very knowledgeable, my dog had to be put under for her procedures and she came through with flying colors!! Disorganized, unprofessional, and irritating. Took our 9 year old dog in for an xray for her back leg. Spent a total of 5 hours, across two appointments, one of which we left our dog for the day because they didnt know when they would get to it, for an xray and surgery options. Sent me and my three young children in to a room to review xrays where there was blood, fur, and exposed syringes on both the exam table and office/computer desk. Vet recommended a surgery, two additional medications, and monthly injections. My sweet old dog was leashed to the wall with no slack to lie down. I don't know how long she was there. Check out was chaotic. Took 3 people to determine my balance. They determined I had overpaid at previous appointment and had a 90$ credit. They offered me the refund, but I mistakenly asked them to leave it on the account as our dog needed surgery. Had to ask for my dog twice before they brought her to me. Received a second opinion from another office who informed me the surgery Mountain River Vet recommended had the least amount of research backing it, not great outcomes documented, and was significantly more expensive. He also shared the injections they recommended were very expensive for the minimal benefit our dog might receive. Called Mountain River Vet to receive our 90$ credit after deciding to have another office provide the surgery, which our dog has already received. They informed us we in fact do not have a credit, they could not explain what had happened, and repeatedly stated "sorry that it seems that way". We had been taking our dogs to this office for the last three or more years. I will never return. read more

Mountain river vet has excellent prices, which is why we chose to go there for my puppies last set of shots. However, there are some serious issues that need to be addressed! It was our first time there and it might be our last.. Upon arrival, the whole office had a HORRIBLE smell. I have never been to a veterinary office that has ever smelt so putrid! Everyone is friendly however NOBODY knew what they were doing. And it was so FILTHY in their it made me nervous to even have my dog inside! When we went up to check in, it took them over 15 minutes to actually get us checked in, even though we had called days before to set up the appointment.. When asking what we were there we told them we were getting our pups last round of immunizations. We had our pups health record with us showing exactly what has been done and they should have known exactly what was needed, but the tech then proceeded to ask us about each of the shots that the dog needed (parvovirus, rabies, etc) and we told him our dog had already had 3 rounds of shots, and he just needed to finish his last round and get his rabies shots.. he asked us if we wanted to get the shot that prevents kennel cough and I said yes. He continued to explain why it was necessary because kennel cough is like the common cold for dogs while another employee went on and said her dog had gotten kennel cough from her working at the office and bringing it home to her dog... it was a very unprofessional thing to say to a customer and it did NOT make us feel comfortable bringing our dog their! The guy at the counter just looked at us as if he didn't understand what we were wanting, and kept asking us what shots we wanted our dog to have! We again told him that we were there for his LAST round of shots, and we do not know the technical names of the shots because we are not vets.. We just wanted the vet to take care of our dog and ensure he is healthy, by providing ALL the shots he NEEDS for his last round.. which they should know what he needs by looking at his shots records we provided!!! Why should I have to be the one to tell the professionals what to do? The guy at the counter didn't seem to know what he was doing whatsoever. When they FINALLY got us checked in, we were led to a room where we waited about 30 minutes for the vet to even come in the room. It was like they forgot about us because they closed at 5 and it was after 5 when we were seen. Our appointment was at 4:30 and we were there 15 minutes early, (which was how long it took to get us checked in)... When the vet entered he had no idea what shots he was even giving our dog and then proceeded to tell us we needed to come back in another month for our dogs rabies shot even though this was his final round, which was supposed to include rabies. We advised the vet of this to which he replied, "did we even give your dog rabies shots today?" Luckily the tech in the room had the labels from the syringes and told him yes. We also had to ask for them to update our dogs health record, because they both tried rushing out of the room without doing so. As for cleanliness, I get that it was the end of the day, but the entire office should be maintained throughout the day. There was hair EVERYWHERE as if it hadn't been swept in days, and my dog was COVERED in dirt and hair just by sitting and laying on the floor while waiting for the vet to come in the room. The ONLY reason I gave this clinic 2 stars is because of the good prices and friendly staff. If it wasn't for that, I would have given no stars if I could. I really would like this to be my dogs new vet clinic because of how affordable and nice the people are, however there needs to be changes! If management reads this, I HIGHLY suggest making sure ALL of your staff is knowledgeable in the services you provide, as well as knowing what they are doing. I also recommend keeping up on cleaning more because I was NOT impressed by this vet clinic :( read more

Best service I have ever experienced. Quick, compassionate, and incredibly educated as to emergency services and general needs of both large and small animals. The staff are warm and friendly, Dr Olaveson literally saved our 2 horses from what could have had tragic consequences. They are completely healed, no lameness, and are back up and running. I just can't say enough about Mt River. They are the premier vets in my opinion and if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. read more

Price is good and it's close to home, but they do seem a bit confused (you have to spell out everything like shots) and don't seem to care that much about my pets health. I called to say my dog tore her nail and it has been bleeding, they were booked and said I would have to pay an extra charge to walk in or I could be put on a waiting list. I said please put me on the waiting list. I've been waiting for weeks for that call. I've been to vets that care and I've been to vets that don't care. This one seems to be the latter. read more

I love this place and they have the best staff. Everyone is very friendly and they take such good care of their clients (pets & their owners). It is very clean with no funny odors. My cat doesn't get all freaked out once we enter the building. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to my other cat last fall. This was super hard for me and my family. The staff was so patient and understanding and gave us all the time we wanted/needed. To my surprise within a couple weeks later I received a card in the mail from them. It was a condolences card in which they put my kitty's paw print on it and the entire staff signed it. Wow! Talk about going the extra mile on customer service and showing sincere empathy. I love this place and will continue to use them for all my veterinary needs! 5 stars!!! read more

Take your loved ones somewhere else.......anywhere else. The sold us on an up charge to do a blood test before my dog's procedure. If a blood test is necessary, perhaps it should be part of their general practice to treat and protect the animal. So I paid for a blood test and low and behold one was never done. Perhaps this is just a money grab. Not sure. Our dog passed because they simply did not conduct the procedure correctly nor with discretion at any point in the treatment. A second procedure was necessary and again no blood test was performed. I am not a vet, but do know that if you have an abdomen full of blood, have been told there was blood all over bed at home and in car transporting, and it clear there is active internal bleeding.........well hey kids maybe we ought to do a red cell mass test and see if my baby has enough blood in his body to survive another surgery. Maybe the vet and lab tech missed red cell mass test training day. I am pretty sure WAZZU offers one. If you love your pet as much as we loved ours, go to another veterinarian..........or perhaps a TRUE VETERINARIAN. read more

had 2 dogs serviced by them and they were great until this last time. we had dental work done on our 10year old labordoodle using the dental february special. took him in at 8 am and the had to give him a blood test first before the dental cleaning which was not included in the special price, i called 3 time to see how he was doing and they never told me that they were extracting 5 teeth for an extra charge. when we picked him up the then informed us of the extra charge for the extraction we then ask the tech why we were not notified about the extraction before it was done she said she ask the doctor he said pull them but she never called us so we expressed or displeasure at the front counter to the tech on how this was handled. she did not say she was sorry for the non communication so we paid the up charged bill and left. a few days later we received a letter fro the management team which is final informing us that they will no longer service our pets for any reason due to the way we treated the staff. beware of this vet you can not voice your opinion even if the admit wrong doing. very poor way to conduct business and the front counter help were allays a bit cupidity ps: i found a new vet showed him the letter he was shocked. cary melson formoe2@gmail.com read more
