One of the rudest waitresses I've ever had. Not only did we wait 15 minutes to find out what soup, but she couldn't ask us for a drink order, or even try and when she came back with the other soup she still didn't know. Than when she brought the soup it was rancid. Than when I asked a normal question based on her stupid response she rudely asked if I was ok. Than we asked for the check so on the way out she proceeded to scream expletives. More than bad service, literally a rude and mean person. Now I know why we were the only people there. Maybe the manager standing around in the background should've came over and rectified the situation but he was too busy walking around doing nothing. read more

Lobster bisque was hot and good where the sherry was forward in a good way. Wedge salad cold and crisp as expected. Beef stroganoff was tasty with a good sour cream sauce and tender beef tips . This was basically a perfect experience. The room is wonderfully welcoming, with dark accents and soft lighting. There are multiple curved booths with soft cushioning that feel like something out of a classic movie. Multiple portraits of old time stars on the wall complete the theme. Our server (Maria) was absolutely delightful. She had a large group to keep up with at the same time we were visiting and she did a fantastic job making sure that we were OK too. We started with around of their bread and a bowl of lobster bisque. I was very pleased at the generous helping of lobster made in the bowl, and they expert preparation of the soup. The bread was soft with a crisp crust, and was brought out with whipped butter. The mushroom duck entrée was magnificent also. Duck can be very tricky to prepare, and this cut was well done without being overcooked or overseasened. The fingerling potatoes were also perfectly finished. I finished with a crème brûlée which was perfect with a nice light sugar crust on top that wasn't over prepared. The drink menu is extensive and whoever's preparing the drinks knows what they're doing. I would definitely come back! read more

Let's first start off with they have THE BEST strawberry cheesecake and sweet potato fries that I have ever had! Muy deliciouso! The sweet potato fries were fried to perfection and seasoned with sooo much love. And the CHEESECAKE... lol I initially said I didn't want desert but had a spoonful of someone else's strawberry cheesecake and immediately, I had to order my own. I was supposed to take it to the hotel and eat it lol but I ate it in a to go container with a knife . It's not too thick, super moist, and a joy to one's tastebuds. Essentially, everything I had here with the exception of the salmon sandwich (whatever it was called on the menu) was super good. I'm used to a creamier lobster bisque and usually, when it's heavier on the tomato base, I tend not to be fan, which definitely was not the case here. They have definitely changed my perspective for all lobster bisque lol that tends not to taste remotely similar to Pappadeauxs' lobster bisque. The crab curry fries initially sounded like it could be a hit OR a major miss based off of the reading of the menu, but it definitely was a hit. A very unique dish in my opinion. But sadly,the salmon sandwich was very underwhelming. I was disappointed in my selection with this, however, the side of sweet potato french fries compensated for this. I had the salad with an add-on of shrimp. It was delish! One suggestion (not limited to The Brass) is to please cut lettuce into more bite-sized pieces. A pet peeve are these mile-long ribbons of lettuce. So, if that's the worst thing, I'm good;) Iced tea is fresh-brewed, unsweetened and wonderful. The decor is 'fancy lounge, sort of 1950's/60's' and very nicely done. Looks like the kind of place that knows how to make a mean martini, if that's your thing. There is an outdoor deck area as well, for times the weather cooperates. All in all, I'd love to try additional dishes on the menu, as everything my group ordered was great. One of the better places to eat in Mount pleasant (only a 5 star for the area). Went for happy hour to get 1/2 off oysters. The oysters were small but fresh. Bread is great! Often times I think they scrimp on the alcohol in their drinks. Service and ambiance is always great. read more

Hidden gem! We found this cute little spot on Yelp on our way from Mackinac Island to Nashville as we were looking for a place to have dinner before staying overnight in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. We called in advance to make a reservation. Etta assured us that we made the perfect restaurant choice and boy, was she right! When we arrived, we decided to eat at the bar instead of the dining area. Our bartender (Lizzie) was awesome! She offered to let us try the soup du jour which was Dill Pickle Bisque - it was surprisingly outstanding, so we ordered a cup, as well as a bread basket. For dinner, we enjoyed a nice Cabernet Sauvignon and shared Za'atar Herb Rack of Ribs which were full of flavor! Delicious food, great service, cute restaurant! If we ever find ourselves in Mt. My wife and I went out to celebrate our anniversary. This was the best meal we've had at a restaurant in years! The appetizers came out immediately and the food was ready when we were finishing the appetizers. Wedge salad was classic wedge salad - pretty darn good. HOWEVER the crab cakes were superb! Three crab cakes sat on a nicely herbed remoulade and were topped off with the most delightful tomato ginger jam - so good that I contemplating asking to buy some of the jam to take home. To start off with my husband and I have eaten at some really high end and low end restaurants all over the US. We always order different entrees and share so that we can enjoy more than one. This is the first restaurant that my husband has not even touched the salt and pepper shaker. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and seasoned to perfection!! The order came out rather quickly and there was not a long wait in between orders. I can't say enough about the deliciousness of every item we ordered. The owners of this restaurant better hold tight to this chef as he is one in a million. I would give this chef 10 thumbs up if I had them. The young girl that waited on us was sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. Before we left home we were undecided of where to eat...Thai, Sushi or The Brass. I could not be more impressed with Jaren (hope I spelled that right!) and his staff at the Brass. My parents live in Mt. Pleasant and every time I visit (I'm in Southern CA), we enjoy a wonderful meal at The Brass, their favorite restaurant. I wanted to treat them for Valentine's Day but avoid the rush of the actual day. I called and was able to speak with Jaren, making reservations, arranging a bottle of their favorite sparkling wine and setting up payment for the meal. Everything went *perfectly*! The parents had such a great time, were greeted and seated to a lovely booth with the wine and a beautiful rose waiting. Jaren checked in on them and they received phenomenal service from Jacob. The food was excellent as usual per mom+dad, mom having the perfectly cooked ribeye and dad having the walleye. (said he stopped just short of licking the plate clean it was so delicious!) They chose cheesecake to take home and called me again to tell me how good it was. The level of service, attention to detail and hospitality shown from people half the country away deserves more accolades than I'm able to give in this review, yet people turn to Yelp so I'm here to try. Jaren, Jacob and staff I thank you all so very much for making this evening so special for my parents. You treated my family like your family. Terrible, the chocolate cake with berries ice cream and chocolate sauce the cake was so dry and barely any chocolate sauce. Literally 1/2 a strawberry, and 2 black berries! Our bill was $118 for basically a filet stroganoff and 2 glasses of wine. They didn't even charge us for the dessert! Soo over priced and the food is definitely not worth it. My brother got the scallops and Brussels sprouts he got 3 scallops and 3 Brussels sprouts. This place has no class . The service was fair. Sooooo disappointed!!!!!! read more

There are booths & tables, all draped in linen. Low-key, intimate, with separate bar & dining room. We started with the bread basket: 4 slices of artisan bread with whipped butter & a spinach-herb dipping oil. So good! Hubby had the ribeye with baby potatoes & broccoli cheddar au gratin (he really enjoyed that), while I had the macadamia crusted walleye with mushroom risotto & asparagus. Bliss!! My margarita was a strong surprise, too. I finished off my meal with cheesecake for dessert (no sauce, because that's how I like it). Service by Meg was exemplary & the food temp was spot on. Do you like jazzy music? Well this Mt. Pleasant swanky place has it! What they don't have is fast service. House salad is good. I like the dressing. I ordered the Italian sandwich. For some reason they had mayo and balsamic on it. Um, no mayo for me. Didn't make sense. The decor reminds me of a rummage sale where a dead elderly person's home was raided for fixtures. The only part of the decor I liked was the leopard seats and the outdoor igloo. My overall advice is to pass on this place. read more

This by far was the worst meal I've been presented with. I ordered and encrusted walleye it showed up looking OK. I tried to cut it with a knife and it seemed really tough. I cut it open carefully and found it was completely raw and cold inside my wife ordered, the ribeye that came so heavily seasoned she couldn't eat it. I ran a fork across it and tasted the salt. She ordered another one without seasoning and it was explained she couldn't get it that way. The waitress brought her another fillet that was cut like a flat brick. She cut it open and it was completely raw and cold inside. At that point we both gave up getting entrées from this restaurant. The ice tea was fresh and good. The salads were OK. The bread basket came and the bread inside was cold and stuck together. I also had the cold smoked salmon appetizer without the entrées. The meal came to $43. Personally, I felt like all the food had been prepared somewhere else and frozen for the kind of money they want for a meal I couldn't believe it would be fresh and well cooked. Not going back, this is not a high-end restaurant. Prices are outrageous for the poor quality. I'm the good side or waitress. The group next to us was loud, unruly and undeterred by any of the staff. I ordered the pictured chicken Cesar and it was disappointing: the chicken was dry and tasteless. My fiancé received alleged homemade ketchup w/ his fries... made in the Heinz factory. His steak sandwich was overpriced, overcooked and rubbery. The overall decor was run down. What in the hell happened here? Servers, hostesses hanging out at the bar talking about how much they hate your drink orders, especially tropical ones. At one point a server was literally taking a nap at the end of the bar. Another one was trying to light a lime on fire with a lighter. Peering into the kitchen we saw a chef juggling a roll of bread with his bare hands. The cream of the visit was when I discovered left over cherries from a previous old fashioned in my glass, I only know this detail because the bartender told me.
