I must say for myself and any family having to make the tough decision to place your loved one in a facility because it became so overwhelming that it took a toll on your own physical and mental wellbeing then this is the place. I searched and visited many facilities prior to me choosing Mountain View Center. I visited them a couple times and was able to meet the Owner, Coordinators, the caretakers, the cook, all the helpers I just knew that they stood out far beyond any others I went to. First thing that stood out was how immaculate everything was and it smelled so fresh and clean. This was very important for me if my mom going to live here. They gave me a tour of facility and the living quarters where my mom would stay. She has her own bedroom whom she shares with a wonderful roommate. They were very careful about matching mom's roommate, so they carefully introduced my mom to a few ladies and we found the perfect one. My mom has been her for 3 years and she loves it. They even have a program where a bus picks up the residents that are able, to have fun filled days dancing, singing, doing crafts, then the bus brings them back. They are very involved with many onsite activities. They have lots of parties, holiday parties too, they bring in musicians/bands so they can dance and enjoy, bbqs, dress up..etc. I just had to share my experience with anyone looking for a place for mom or dad. Dementia again has impacted our family, my dear Auntie is suffering with this horrible disease now. First and foremost I'd like to state that I was the former activities coordinator for this facility and loved my job ! I am not a disgruntled employee and won't be discredited by the owner of this facility. 1) This facility is an absolute death trap. You do not send your family member here to live and thrive you send them here to suffer andie. This facilities owner only cares about the financial bottom line and does not provide the care promised when you drop off your loved one 2) residents are routinely neglected and their personal hygiene is non existent ! They are not groomed daily, have their teeth brushed daily or bathed daily. Although they claim they are ! 3) the staff here has a true heart for the residents. They truly try to give the best care to them but when the owner and management does NOT provide the appropriate tools and necessities needed to provide the care expected even the best intentions fall short. 4) the building is old, dirty and unkempt. Mold, feces, bed bugs and trash riddles the floors of this facility. 5) the management and owner keep the truth from both authorities and families here. They give the run around for any question you might have of your loved ones and of any reports of negligence, abuse or violence in the facility. I saw that there were some bad reviews for Mountain View Centers which surprised me, but then I noticed that they are mostly older ones. They have been under new management and I am very pleased with the changes they have made. Since my loved one arrived at the facility, he has thrived. He is always kept clean and well fed. He receives three nutritious meals and snacks each day; which he loves. If I ever have a concern regarding his health, they always address it immediately and are very accommodating. The facility itself is clean, bright and airy. They keep his room clean and bed made. They have a hair stylist and dentist that come in that are familiar with working with dementia patients. Any one who has had a family member with dementia knows how difficult it is. Their behavior changes from time to time. They can be calm and happy one week and can be aggressive the next. They work to try and find medications that help to keep them calm while still being productive. My loved one was at a nursing facility beforehand and all they did was keep him drugged up and in bed. Mountain View Center's staff is always attentive and kind to their residents. They are so patient. I appreciate how they encourage them to be as independent as possible; while staying safe. The facility is always welcoming to visitors who come to see their loved ones. I visit nearly every day and I am always so happy to see that he is being cared for. Concerned neighbor. Not a very secure facility. One of their residents/patients climbed the back fence into our backyard. At the time, we had two large dogs and fortunately they did not knock the patient into the pool. We have also complained numerous times of feces and trash being thrown into our yard. There is an empty lot next to the facility, where random RVs park. This lot, I believe, is owned by the same owner. I've called to complain to her and she said it's just temporary. The RV is still there! There are no hookups so I have no idea where they dump the sewage??? read more

I saw firsthand how dangerous this facility was and removed my father. Some caretakers were lovely caring people but it is my opinion that the administration cared more about money/profit than quality of care. Know that it is very hard to prove accusations because they need employees or residents to corroborate the story. Employees do not want to lose their income or their coworkers to lose their jobs. Additionally, residents are memory impaired and can't answer questions posed to them. It is a Catch 22. I'm glad to see this place is finally being held (somewhat) accountable. It should be shut down. "The investigation revealed information from staff #24 and resident's family who personally witnessed many of the actions and behaviors of resident #7. Former staff members reported seeing resident #7 touch, fondle and rub female residents on their breasts and vaginal area. Resident #7 was found in another resident's room while resident #7 pants were down and resident #7 was also found in the bed of a female resident and was caught taking a female dementia resident to the back area of the facility. Resident #7 also attempted to sexually assault a female resident while under the influence of a substance. Despite, staff #24 being aware of resident #7 inappropriate sexual actions and behaviors with facility residents, no substantive action was taken by staff #24 to stop resident #7 behaviors and facility residents continued to be victimized by resident #7" "Interviews with staff stated that Resident #9 had scabies first and later gave it to Resident #3. Per staff #24, hospice agency said it was not scabies and later determined that it was. The facility did not report scabies to Community Care Licensing. former administrator stated the Licensee, staff and families were notified of the outbreak. During the 04/13/21 site visit, LPA Almaraz received documents indicating that the Los Angeles County Public Health was being notified and a case was being opened.". I am very thankful for this place. My mom has dementia with sundowners syndrome. After the first week at Mountain View , I started to see a great deal of behavior improvement , she started to be less depressed, less aggressive , and happier. The staff , they have been working together with me. I can see they care very deeply for their residents. It is extremely difficult to have a perfect place under this circumstance , no place in reality can be better than your own home. But at least we have found a place for her where she is living day by day with dignity, and I am thankful for that. Mountain View Centers in Claremont has been doing a great job caring for my loved one. This assisted living memory care facility specializes in providing care for residents with Alzheimer/dementia. The living area is safe and secure. His room is pleasant and kept clean by the staff. There is a large common room where residents watch TV, play games, and do group activities. There is also a nice outside courtyard where he can walk around and enjoy the sunny California weather. Most importantly, the caregivers at MVC provide excellent care. They are very patient with all of the residents even though each one has unique needs. He is always kept well groomed, which is important for maintaining good health and spirit. The staff keep me informed of any issues and are always willing to help. I feel fortunate that we found MVC. I should have written this review years ago. ..and i'm still angry about it. My mom lived there for a short time a few years back, and due to her illness of late stage dementia and parkinsons, she was only able to give "yes" and "no" answers, and she was also almost totally immobile. One day, upon walking into her room, somehow she was able to scoot her body up against the very edge of the bed (with side rails up), but her face was smashed into the steel rails. God only knows how long she was laying there that way. I moved her back to the center of the bed and then went out into the hallway and told a caregiver, but she was busy with another resident so my concern was almost completely ignored. I honestly don't even know if they understood what I was trying to tell them since many of them did not speak english very well. At another visit, my mom was laying there groaning in her bed. ...and since she could not speak in full sentences, I had to keep asking her what she needed. "are you cold?".. she responded "no."... "are you hot?" .. "no." .. "are you thirsty?", and my mom blurted out a desperate "YES!". This very moment was nothing short of pure heartbreak. No patient should ever have to go through this. Makes me tear up even thinking about it now. I rushed to get her a cup of water. ..and afterwards, i again told the caregivers, but not much of a response was related back. If I remember correctly, I believe this is the time I decided to notify management, but there was no one available to speak with, of course. These two incidents that I witnessed while my mom stayed there were absolutely devastating. I DO NOT, in any way, blame the caregivers. I saw how overworked and understaffed they were. It is the owner and management I blame. What's worse was that this place was ridiculously expensive. So my question is, where is all the money going? Certainly not to hire an adequate amount of staff, that's for sure. ...and this is just an insignificant addendum to this review, but the receptionist who worked the front desk years ago (don't know if she's still there, tall skinny young brunette, maybe Christine was her name, but not positive), she was the snippiest, most prissy and condescending person i've come in contact with in a long while. i'd be standing right at the glass french doors waiting to be buzzed in and she would be on the phone facing towards me, pretending not to see me. i waited and waited until she finally decided to buzz me in on her own time. BUT.. when the owner (Indian lady, don't know her name) happened to be there in the front office, of course the receptionist was just as sweet as one can be. ..ridiculous. I hold legal/medical power of attorney for my long-time (70+ years) friend, "JC." For the past few years, JC has struggled with general cognitive dissonance and mild dementia. When living at home was no longer an option, finding the right facility for him was crucial. I'm happy to write that Mountain View Centers has more than filled the bill. Laura, Elvira and the rest of the staff are caring, respectful and patient, and communicate with me quickly, whether good news or bad. JC can be a bit cantankerous at times, but the folks at Mountain View have managed to corral his outbursts, which have diminished. I gave a 4-star rating based on the lack of an on-site medical professional, but save for that, I'm very appreciative overall for Mountain View Centers. read more

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to Mountain View Centers and its staff for the care my husband has received in his 5 years of residence at this facility. Mountain View is not a 5-star hotel but it is clean and has a friendly atmosphere. Its large living room furnished with sofas and comfortable reclining chairs allow for the residence to relax and be comfortable during the day while they watch television or enjoy the afternoon activities. The residents enjoy three meals daily and an afternoon snack. The management and caregivers at Mountain View truly care for the residents' well been. My mother has been a resident at one of the Mountain View Centers for a little over two years. It is a small facility- a home that houses a maximum of six residents. My mother, who is 100 years old, but still mobile, has dementia. This home-like setting has been very good for her. She has been comfortable and well cared for and our family believes that this setting has allowed her to thrive better than she might have in a larger, institution-like facility . When we were looking for a place for her we looked at 16 facilities and decided that this one would be the most nurturing. It is a modest facility, no frills, but offers a home like environment and feeling. The caretakers know all the residents very well. I have good communication with the caretakers, the RN that evaluates my mother every other week, and the director in charge of overseeing the facility. I appreciate the care my mother is receiving there. read more

We are very happy to have found Mountain View for my father's care. My father had become very challenging to care of at home and we were in desperate need of a place that would accept him and provide the level of care he needed. We not only found the care, but also a group of caregivers who are very passionate. It is not a luxurious place (which my father does not need) but they do have very hard-working caregivers. After 3 months of being there my dad is doing incredibly well. He adjusted quickly. Every time we visit him, he tells us he's very happy and we have even struggled to take him out of the facility for a family outing. They have physicians and nurses from two different companies that come into the facility to do wellness checks on the residents. They ensure that residents are not being overmedicated and are kept on enough medications to maintain their stability. When we have been present visiting my father, we have observed time and time again how the caregivers demonstrate love and respect towards all the residents. read more

My husband was diagnosed with a trumatic brain injury and dementia. Most facilities we looked into wouldn't take him or released him because he was aggressive and angry. Mountain View admitted him. His caregivers and the nurse practitioner have worked to find the best medications and techniques to control his outbursts. He has been there for 1 1/2 years and his demeanor and attention span is much improved. He seems clean and relatively happy. The facility needs some TLC but our options were limited. As a professional nurse I have visited Mountain View Centers over several months to check in on clients progress and management. My focus is to assess the type of care a resident receives and how it impacts the resident's daily life. The results are impressive. The staff at MVC know how to manage and structure daily activities for the enjoyment and safety of everyone. My observations show people are clean, groomed, dressed and in the main room together daily. Small snacks are provided throughout the day, actives are attended by everyone regardless of their mental capacity. The residents are treated professionally with an overtone of a family atmosphere. The staff is the most important aspect of deciding on a facility for a loved one. The staff at MVC make a huge difference in the daily management and care the residents. I would not hesitate to send a loved one to this facility. read more

I have to agree with the last review. This place was horrible. Anyone can wondering into the building. When I entered all the resident were in a room with a tv on and no supervision. I happened to walk by a kitchen with a woman cutting up fruit on a dirty counter and was not wearing the gloves. The kitchen did not look good. make sure you tour the places you are interested in. An update long overdue. They dropped my family member and denied it causing a fractured leg. They denied it up and down. You can't BS medical professionals. People just don't mysteriously receive fractures out of thin air. They eventuality admitted to dropping our loved one and they we're taken out of the place. State and local health were informed. I want to begin by saying THANK YOU to everyone at Mountain View Center for the loving care,patience and understanding Laura and all the staff have shown my Mom. She was diagnosed with Dementia her symptoms are all the negative symptoms related to the disease aggression, sun downing,raging,hallucinations and delusions it was to the point where she raged for 5 days. Her Doctor finally prescribed medications which had her totally drugged up or made her aggression much worse there was never a proper balance. It became very challenging to provide the care she needed at home, her Doctor recommended placement,we met with a social worker who gave us a list of facilities (BIG MISTAKE) my husband and I visited place after place yes some were beautiful with all the bells and whistles but as soon as I asked if they could manage all my moms behavior issues related to the Dementia I received silence then the response i did get was they would have to see if it would work out, basically every facility we visited had the same response. Well God must have been on our side we were referred to MOUNTAIN VIEW ,we met with Patricia and Laura I was totally shocked when I let them know all my Moms issues and their response was it wasn't anything they haven't dealt with on a daily basis, they went over everything regarding my Mom, not one of the other facilities came close to our meeting with Patricia and Laura ..My Mom has been a resident for over a year now , her medication is NOW ON TRACK, she has bad days but nothing like prior and for that I'm so very grateful I could go on and on singing the praises of MOUNTAIN VIEW CENTER but most of all I am so thankful to all for the wonderful care my Mom receives read more
