I am a frequent visitor at Mountain View Dental, so much they've decided it was time for me to start paying rent (cr: Dr. Rhett for the joke). In all seriousness though they've been great. The front office staff is always so friendly and welcoming. I especially appreciate how comfortable they make me feel throughout the entire visit. The dental team is professional and takes the time to explain everything clearly, ensuring I understand what is happening. Especially since after I had a tooth pulled and was in pain for a month. It was Dr. Rhett who took the time to listen and get to root of the problem - a bone splinter. I felt comfortable enough going back to him when it was time for some fillings. Jenna was especially helpful - from making sure I was comfortable with some snazzy shades and cozy blanket, to making sure my bite was ok and polishing my teeth. I also appreciate Lilly for cracking jokes with me while waiting one day and then following up with me a few weeks later. It meant a lot. The office itself is clean, modern, and well-organized, which made me feel at ease right away. I started to write down the names of the workers that I wanted to mention here only to realize that EVERYONE in this office is caring, professional and nice. I've had extensive dental work throughout my life and regular cleanings, however, I still had bleeding gums and serious tartar build up. This office has corrected all of that, including recommending an electric toothbrush and now, my cleanings are half the time and NO GUM ISSUES. Now I have my family and grandchildren only using electric toothbrushes. I also had my teeth whitened and WOW. It isn't 100% pleasant only because of the plastic mouth prop but the results make it all worth it. read more

They are professional, compassionate and competent. I was visiting from another state when I got a horrible toothache. They fit me in on a very busy Saturday. *UPDATE* I changed this to a 5 star. It is well deserved. This practice takes constructive criticism to heart & they truly do TRY to make your experience the best it can be. Yes, it is a bit difficult to communicate, but they are diligent & I'm feeling a lot more confident going forward here. It took a few calls & texts- but my messages were promptly returned & attention was given to my concerns/needs. I am still thrilled being able to book procedures later in the evening when I can easily secure a safe ride due to sedation. And, I feel so bad I can't remember the dentist's name who did my root canal two days ago- he has fantastic bedside manner! Entirely attentive in gauging my pain level & made sure the procedure was as comfortable as possible. It look a little longer due to a computer tech trying to fix their system before my procedure- so that is my one complaint. They schedule back to back, meaning I am left with 1 tooth finished & only half the 2nd tooth... I have to repeat the process again in a month. Which is a bit inconvenient- I would have rather it all been finished & done at once, especially paying for nitrous & the works to begin with. So that is my constructive criticism this round- they really need to schedule more appropriately & not try to put a time limit on to squeeze as many through. It's a hassle to have to pay for more sedation to finish the remainder of what you expect to be finished in booking a full procedure. I do plan on making sure I'm not going to be left having to attend multiple appointments in the future after learning this. But at the same time- the staff after hours were incredibly kind & accommodating. It was a breeze to be in & taken care of timely (minus the tech issue). I'm not one to ask for much besides making it as painless as possible- but that "comfort menu" on the wall certainly did make it feel like it could have been a 5 star hotel experience had I bothered to ask for that blanket, headphones, etc...! Maybe next time I'm in for another 2 hour procedure? I have a plethora of dental concerns I'm focused on tackling so this has been a journey & very important for me to find a practice that is able to handle my sensitive mouth & extremely low pain threshold. So far, I feel like I'm being heard clearly & in very good hands here. The progress that was made in this procedure visit immediately left me feeling a LOT better with repairing some problems & I'm eager to get the rest of it tackled now that I see it IS possible & not nearly as bad as I anticipated. Because the bedside manner & attentiveness of this dentist made the difference. He was adamant on making sure it was as comfortable as it could be and I can't be more thankful in that regard- especially the follow up. I called to ask questions on after care & was educated as well as given a simple script/precautionary antibiotic to make sure infection is avoided. Many thanks for that- and now I'm just eager to have the other half of the 2nd tooth wrapped up so we can move on to the next part of the treatment plan! read more

They quoted me $80 for a cleaning and a check up. When I get there I end up needing a deep clean which changed the price to $1600 just for the cleaning! I don't have that money right now, so after poking and hurting my teeth, now I can't even get them cleaned at that price. & When I went to check out I was expecting to pay less then $80 cause I didn't get the cleaning.. but they still charged me the whole $80! The quote was for a check up and a CLEANING. I didn't get the cleaning so why am I still paying that price?!? The person booking these appointments on the phone needs to be more clear about the prices! read more

Week before initial appointment, I get a call stating a "specialist" will need to perform the root canal, after the initial Dr told me he could do it. Now I've gone 2 weeks past prescription completion date. Office Saleswoman then calls tell me the, day before appointment "oh there are other costs I forgot to tell you about and they $xxx." Made an appointment for an emergency visit. Had a tooth break on a Sunday afternoon and needed reconstruction on Monday. My regular dentist was away for the week. Made an online appointment on Sunday had email confirming appointment. When I arrived to check-in, no record of appointment. Showed the receptionist my confirmation email but stated no one is available. Generally, I would expect a receptionist to check with a supervisor or one of the dentist. Here I am on time with a perceived confirmation. I got Nothing. Left and found another dentist to do a repair that had better service. read more

Been going to this practice for several years and find excellent dental care and professional management and would give 5 stars for that. Until today. Got a text in AM asking that when I arrive I click a link in the text, enter the lobby, find a seat to wait. Did this and got confirmation I was checked in. No receptionist at desk which was no surprise as noon appointment. After sitting for 20 minutes, I ask receptionist if she knew I was there. I was told I was 20 minutes late and would need to reschedule. I pointed out I was not late and had been sitting there for 20 minutes. Receptionist pleasant saying this had happened to others and I could wait for appointment later in day or reschedule. Just glad appointment was for cleaning and not an urgent appointment. SO - all I say is don't assume the automated system being used always lets staff know you are there. Wait at the front desk until someone appears to acknowledge you. read more

The receptionist Megan really goes above and beyond for her clients. She took the time to respond quickly to my email request, and reached out to my insurance company to get my new explanation of benefits. They were giving her trouble by not answering her calls but she was persistent and finally got the documents before the end of the day. She even gave me a prompt call back with the results she found for me. She was extremely caring and showed amazing customer service. She is a great asset to the company. Also Dr.Perez, he is AMAZING! Always is patient with all my questions about treatment plans for me and my husband. He seriously is so kind and makes you feel as comfortable as possible. My husband hated going to the dentist but having Dr Perez as his dentist changed that. One thing I would recommend for this place is to get a teeth brushing station. Sometimes people are coming from work and haven't had time to freshen up before their appt. My prior dentist had a station with a couple sinks and a couple mirrors with little disposable cheap toothbrushes with dehydrated toothpaste on them (so just add water!) and also little Dixie cups with a Costco size mouth wash dispenser. A few times I have come in for my appt and I wasn't on the schedule at all, but they always saw me anyways. They need to get a better system to consolidate the email reminders and bookings so this doesn't happen. I never see Dr Guffey around. Idk if I'm just missing him or what. read more

Let me just start that by saying THEY ARE AMAZING!!! I have been preconditioned by previous dentists to hate the experience of going to the dentist, but for the first time in my life I can say that I have had positive experiences in the dental chair! I have this condition where local numbing medication doesn't numb me like it is supposed to. Every previous dental visit at other clinics usually amounts to me telling the dentist that I still feel the pain while they act at first surprised, then astounded, then finally incredulous as they continue to drill away while I white knuckle the arm rests. On my first visit with Dr. Temp 5 years ago, I told her this and she explained that in a small percentage of people that is an actual thing. Not only did she believe me (which was a first), but she knew exactly how to take care of it. She also explained that she has equipment to counteract that and numb teeth that can't otherwise be numbed. When I had to get a root canal I was amazed when finally for the first time in my life a dentist was able to numb my tooth before working on it! Things couldn't have gone better. She was caring, efficient and my tooth was numb throughout the procedure! Dr. Temp is a wonderful, caring and compassionate human being who takes the time to explain whats was going on and what needs to be done. She also is great at talking about preventive dental care to prevent issues in the future. On the day of my root canal she won a patient for life. I could not be happier with her services. Their new office is in a great location and is modern and up to date. Their staff is friendly and courteous, but also respectful. I have found the hygienists here to be very good as well. I am very impressed with the aesthetics of this clinic. I don't have dental insurance so I was really worried about the bill. He office manager explained the pricing, and I was blown away at how reasonable their amounts were compared to other clinics I have been in. A few years ago my usual dentist Dr. Temp was out of the clinic for the day when I had a dental emergency. They were able to work me in immediately and I saw her partner Dr. Guffey who was able to treat me and fix the emergency the very same afternoon. I was worried that not seeing Dr. Temp would be like starting over with a whole new dentist, but Dr. Guffey was just as skilled and confident. They make great partners and I would have no reservation about seeing either, or about referring family and friends to the bests dentists I have every know. For all these reasons Mountain View Family Dental earns all 5 stars (super rare for me)!! read more

I absolutely love this dental office. Dr Guffey is one in a million. I am just not happy with how my phone call went, yesterday, with a woman named Mandy (or Amanda. I'm hard of hearing but it was around 9am) I asked specific questions. I'm a cash paying patient with a history of awful teeth. Dr Guffey has seen me a few times. Haven't been over there in years but recently I find myself needing to come back for an extraction. I don't have insurance, so I tend to call in to ask for rough estimates of the procedure needed. I called to make an apt and to ask a few questions. How much for an extraction? How much for the nitros gas and how much for the xrays. I just needed to know those three things, yet I was told I should probably get care credit to "have the tooth rebuilt instead of having it pulled because DID YOU KNOW (Can't believe she said this to me) if I get this molar extraxted, I won't have any molars on that side. I was taken aback by this comment. I replied with "of course I know. I think about it every single day and night. Multiple times a day. Thanks for stating the obvious." I was pretty offended I'm not gonna lie. I didn't call to ask about care credit or to even ask her opinion as to what I should do about my situation. I am in agonizing pain, I'm the customer. I'm the one paying. Please keep your opinion to yourself. If I didn't absolutely love Dr Guffey, I would go to a different dentist over this. Not cool --update, few days later---- I had my first visit, and I unfortunately have to say... it is not the same vibe here, like what it used to be years ago. I know time changes everything, but the staff seemed mad, or irritated to be there. I'm not going to go into detail, mainly because I don't even think it matters, anymore. After my visit tomorrow, I think it's time to find a new dentist. I'm really, really sad to be leaving this negative review. Update: 12/21/19 - I had my second apt and just wanted to add that the assistant was absolutely top notch. I remember her from a previous visit. Absolutely heart warming, caring and kind. She has a great energy. And the dentist I saw did a great job, too. I know he was just as petrified as I was, that this molar was such a pain in the @$$ to get out. I just want him to know I'm not mad at him nor do I think he's a bad dentist :) my teeth are insanely weird and difficult. He did a great job. Dr. Temp is fantastic. I have been to a few dentists over the years, and this was BY FAR a superior experience. First, Dr. Temp LISTENS and CARES when you talk to her. Secondly, she knows how to use anesthetic-- you know, so it doesn't hurt. And last, but not least, the office, equipment and staff are current, clean, knowledgeable and the staff sincerely cares about you having a positive experience. I have not had issues with any dental treatments performed here-- I have had a crown, fillings and even an implant done and they all look and feel great. Mountain View Family Dental is not the closest dentist to my home, but well worth a little more driving! read more

I've been coming here for a year and a half. Had more than 10 visits to take care of a few issues. Honestly every time goes smoothly. A few times Rebecca has called ahead and asked if I could come in a bit later (vs me showing up and having to wait, a simple yet appreciated gesture!) The trio of Rebecca, Sarah, and Dr. Christopherson were accommodating and wonderful to work with over many visits. The most recent visit today went exceptionally well. Walked in to find a patient being helped and one in line ahead of me. I was greeted and told they would be right with me. After a minute or so, Irene popped up and asked for our last names and checked us in. I only had to wait a minute before being called back, so efficient! Jennifer, the hygienist, was friendly and personable. Got to wear these sweet shades to protect my eyes during the cleaning. She knew what she was doing and kept me in the loop as to what I would expect - another simple yet appreciated gesture. She even pronounced my last name correctly, a rare occurrence! Dr. Temp was patient and down to Earth, explained the issue she noticed and gave me time to ask questions and clarify. I did not feel rushed or ignored. Michelle, up front, was wonderful as well. She wrapped things up with getting my payment. You could tell everyone was sincere in the small conversations struck up by the staff. A year and a half later and many visits, I would still recommend this dental office to anyone! read more

I have had some very bad experiences with this dentist. I have only been four times and 3/4 times I left crying because they have hurt me so badly just from a cleaning. I leave feeling defeated, they treat my cleanings as if I have neglected my teeth for years. The only reason I gave them another try is because they would've charged me $50 to cancel. I am writing this review vicariously through my husband's experience. When looking for a new dentist, I send him in first as guinea pig. This location is in a strip shopping center near University and Lindsey. I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff, both on the phone to set up an appointment and in the office. They all genuinely seemed to be happy to be there and greeted patients like old friends. The office was homey with overstuffed couches and chairs. There were some toys in the corner to keep little ones busy. The dentist was professional and did not criticize the long term lack of care M had on his teeth. He was given a break down of his needs and upfront costs. I will definitely try them out myself and post an update. read more

STAY AWAY!! Avoid this dental office. Yes they are friendly but be careful with their billing. I needed a dental procedure done after after giving them my insurance information I was told my cost would be around 500 dollars. I paid the charge, and had the procedure the following week. One and a half years later I received a bill of over 600 dollars. I called the office and they responded by saying that they just guess how much is covered and then send bills out later. To be 600 dollars off I felt like I had been lied to with the original quote. Stay away!!! Stay far away. You could receive a bill a year and a half later to pay even more than the original quote. Dr Guffey is an amazing dentist. He did a filling 3 years ago, in a very difficult to reach spot (in between two teeth, all the way in back, up top!). Last weekend, I found out I had some decay underneath one of the fillings, so Dr Guffey was able to replace the filling, once again saving the tooth and avoiding the trouble and cost of a root canal/crown. Plus, it was close to the nerve, yet I had only the slightest ache after the numbness wore off, for which I took some Ibuprofen. After that, no pain, no sensitivity, no need for adjustment. Very friendly staff. Dr. Temp is so nice and very caring. I always have bad anxiety when I'm at the dentist. Dr. Temp's professionalism and kindness really helps me feel a lot calmer. She really does take care of her patients. Their office is so up to date with their equipment and technology. They are open late on certain days of the week plus they are open on Saturday's. WORST dental office EVER! The office staff harasses you about your appt. They will call and text you until you confirm. I had two office staff call me within 2 hours of each other. The dental hygienist are very rough on your teeth. I am supposed to receive an antibiotic before each dental procedure and the office REFUSED to give it to me. They claimed, "it wasn't their responsibility". The office staff threatened to bill me for services that never were completed. I wouldn't have my worst enemy go here. So my rambunctious toddler had a fall on tile and chipped his front tooth. I took him to Mountain View Family Dental to get checked out and I'm so glad I did. It's rare you come across an office where every single employee you come in contact with is kind and accommodating! This entire office staff truly knows great customer service. I was nervous taking a 2 year old to the dentist because they are so unpredictable but every single employee was so engaging with him and I don't think he even realized why we were there! My husband loves Dr. Guffey so when I finally got him to agree to go to the dentist again I called them. I thought it was weird that they wanted a $150 deposit since I only have a $50 deductible and this was only a deep cleaning but was told it's because it's a Saturday appointment. Nothing more was said until after his SECOND appointment when they wanted us to pay an additional $130!!! That's when they said they charge $80 for the laser to help them with the cleaning and the $150 deposit was to pay for the deductible AND the laser that they don't even bill the insurance for! I said from the beginning that I didn't want anything that wasn't approved by my insurance so I guess they figure if it isn't billed to the insurance then technically it's not denied. I canceled his future appointments and will find another dentist who doesn't LIE TO THEIR PATIENTS!!! read more
