while Larry is very nice, it started at $199 and ended up at $1600 for a "service plan" that I fell for being upsold on, because I am a new owner of the house and got scared into thinking my "old" system was a mess , plus the charge just for a filter without "the service plan discount" was sort of outrageous. IDK, sometimes I think "nice" is just a set up for being taken advantage of. all i wanted was to make sure my system was functioning up to par, because i just moved in and the heating bills are outrageous. BTW, changing the filters and "optimizing" did exactly ZERO in reducing my bill. . For $1600 I'm going to see them 3 more times. Used them to repair a broken furnace in my house and do a check/maintenance on the other. Kasey was great: on-time, great communications, frank, and professional. Fixed the first furnace and checked on the second in pretty short order. It took a while to get the appointment, but I actually made the appointment before the first furnace failed, so I've not been in an emergency situation where I really needed them to come out quickly. We've had Mtn View Heating out for quite a few jobs this year. The largest being a large kitchen remodel in which there was a good amount of HVAC and venting work to be done last summer. This summer we had a Furnace motor that died which left our AC pretty much useless. The kitchen remodel, Mtn View spent alot of time at our place and was always courteous and explained what needed to be done. When it came to invoicing, we had an invoice that I felt there was more labor charged then necessary. I immediately called them and discussed the invoice and they were able to work the cost down to a more reasonable level. They were quick to respond and address my issue. I was very satisfied with their work. The most recent interaction was when our furnace motor burned out leaving our AC useless ( Perfect timing, one of the hottest weeks of the year) . I left a message Saturday night. Being it was the weekend and the peak season for AC repairs, etc I was expecting them to be at least 5-6 days away from even making a trip out. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call early Monday morning and had a technician out Monday by 11:00am. They were able to quickly diagnose the issue and the best part (no pun intended) was that they had the parts in stock. By 2pm the AC and furnace were back in working order with a new motor. Larry was the technician and was very courteous and explained to me what the issues were and what needed to be done to get it working. Overall my experience with Mtn View heating has always been good and the service has been excellent. read more

The summer of 2021 I contracted with Mountain View Heating and Cooling for a new AC/Furnace system with improved duct work as well. Due to supply chain problems the system(s) weren't completely done until November of 2021 and into 2022. I noticed that my heating bills for natural gas were running high in the winter/spring of 2022. I also noticed that the house wasn't cooling very well either. Due to health problems I was unable to investigate the problem. The fall/winter of 2022 I started investigating when I received heating bills of approx. $300. I keep the heat at 64ºF and do not use my gas fireplace. Calls to the Cascade Natural Gas revealed I was using too many therms for house of my size and a new system. After several visits by Mountain View to check the furnace and the thermostat that were determined to be in working order, I called again. The Mountain View rep traced it down to the duct system not being connected nor taped. There was a gap of approx 2 feet. I was heating and cooling the attic space and the great outdoors. I also found out that the City of Bend never did a final inspection nor had Mt. View done a final inspection in late 2021 or early 2022. The problem would have been revealed then. Those inspections took place after the duct system was fixed. I requested some recompense for a lousy installation job. I paid $20,000 for this system. My money was good but their workmanship was substandard. I believe I should get funds back for poor workmanship. I have heard nothing from the company over the many months of this saga. Wow. I had them to do a service on my system as I an listing the house and wanted to assure buyer that system is functioning as it should. Everything was except for a capacitor on the blower motor. Easy enough, $111 later, all good. So $299 for the service (AC/Furnace) and $111 for the the repair. Hit my card for $519. Worst part is they put a big red banner on the invoice saying my system is 20 years old and NEEDING replacement. "Please call for a no obligation quote." Refused to remove it. Sure, system is functioning as it should and we recommend replacing it. Lost story short, these guys have to pay for all of their fancy commercials and new trucks. YOU pay for them. Do not give them your card number and know you will be up sold like you are at a car dealership and when it is all said and done you will have that same taste in your mouth. So we stopped to get a filter and they wouldn't sell us one because they don't service Prineville. Really after all those years we used your company you won't sell us a filter,??? We purchased a new heat pump from Mountain View heating two years ago. During the recent very cold temperatures, we were not able to raise the temperature past 58°! We called Mountain View heating and they sent someone out the same day. He was courteous, calm, explained what he was doing. We will need another visit because the thermostat could not be reset without the help of the Daikon company and they were closed. I am blown away by this company! From initial appointment to access the best mini split to replace the o e I had that failed, to install (which by the way was actually a joy the installer was such a great guy) to a recent issue which the quick resolution and response was so overwhelming that I am just left dumbfounded. So few companies offer service like Mountain View Heating. I am telling you I had 2 other hvac companies come to my tiny house when my mini split failed and it was only a few months old. All said fixing it would be a bandaid, this was the third unit of that brand from my builder in 15 months. But only Mountain View said I should fight to get it replaced. The fact is I was not risking putting that brand in again before winter. But Mountain View's Honesty and care to look out for my best interest first was what made me pick them. After have a quote of $2235 for replacement of two major component systems by a different company, I contacted Mt. View Heating for a repair estimate. Kacey was the technician that was sent out for the repair. Acknowledging that the furnace was 23 years old and has out-lived it's life, he suggested a basic cleaning/maintenance of the unit to see if that solved the problem. Within 15 minutes the unit was up and running! We were charged $288 and were thrilled to pay it! Kacey was workable to talk with my home warranty company representative to explain the problem. Unfortunately he used the term, "did maintenance," and they denied the claim. He was correct and did the maintenance, as he said, and it solved the problem. Kudos to Kacey for being honest, professional and a pleasure to work with!!! I'll be signing up for the semi-annual maintenance program for my furnace/AC in the near future. This company quoted me $1500 to replace a heat exchanger with a 2 week wait time at a rental house I own. A local competitor came out and did the job on Christmas Eve morning for $575. Seems like Mountain View Heating was trying to gouge a guy in a bind. Shady. I'll never do business there again. Update: I appreciate you, Mountain View Heating, writing a response here 7 months after my review, but it's too little, too late. I was in a situation of dire need (renters without heat in the middle of winter) and your company tried to take advantage of myself and the situation. There is no need to follow up further; I won't be spending anything with you again, and that includes my time. If you're truly interested in how you can improve, you might consider avoiding price gouging a customer who you view as having his back against the wall. I've had Mountain View's maintenance service in the past & it was OK. Moved into a new home -furnace & A/C 3 yrs old. Had issue with A/C and called them. Paid them $160 to come out and diagnose issue. Then a week + later I get a quote for $1,560 in addition to the diagnosis fee. They would not give me a breakdown of parts, material & labor even though that's what I paid $160 for. Called another company & they fixed it for $125 total!! The other company also told me the unit is covered by a 5 yr warranty & if any parts needed to be replaced it would be covered by the warranty. Do NOT trust Mountain View Heating. read more

Very Poor Customer Service from this company, who states on Google that they strive to achieve 100% satisfaction. I beg to differ!! I own and operate a small business here in Bend Oregon and phoned Mountain View Heating and Cooling to diagnose a problem we were having with our air conditioning. The company did send a technician, however the problem was not diagnosed correctly and the system was still not operating correctly when the serviceman left our shop. I had to call another professional the next day to diagnose and take care of our problem, the solution to which was really quite simple. I contacted the owner of Mountain View Heating, to request that I not be billed for the visit due to these circumstances which I explained in detail. She (the owner) refused to budge on the bill, which was $89.00. Of course I will pay this amount, but will obviously never use this company again. As a business owner, I personally would never argue with a customer that has a reasonably legitimate complaint. Bad, Bad business practices from this Bend company. read more

Last year I bought A/C for my home from Mountain View. Making the appointment for the install was easy and the lady I spoke to was kind & knowledgable. The service installers called ahead and were on time and so quiet as they worked I hardly knew they were here. It's been awesome having a cool home too! My second service call was for the fireplace and once again the work was great and the service man worked without disrupting my day and made sure he didn't leave a mess. I was pleased. The third call was again for the fireplace regarding a completely different issue and another great service visit and repair. All in all I can't recommend Mountain View highly enough and I do! Requested and paid for annual maintenance on two warehouse heaters. Report says both heaters performing perfectly. Two days after being serviced, one heater failed, so called for help. They say that heater now has a broken ignition board that needs to be replaced. I say ok, but will you at least credit me for the cost of the maintenance trip for that heater that was clearly wrong. NO! Pleaded twice with them. Was told to forget it. That was my experience. Went with a new vendor and am glad I did. read more

Top notch sales force. Only issue was not fully explaining the permit process and inspection schedule. As this is not my full time residence, I expected to leave as soon as they finished install. Well, you are at the mercy of the Deschutes County Inspector. Had to lay over a day waiting for inspection. Then the electrical company did not put the proper inspection sticker on electrical box. That's a whole other issue. Lots of phone calls, who is supposed to do what. Can't be signed off without sticker. I think we have it handled Mtn View offers top of the line equipment, Steve in the sales dept is great. Just get a full time line on when it can be installed and how long must you wait for inspection. One small issue, I had to call the day before to see if the project was still a go. I made that call at 2:30 PM the day before scheduled install. I was on the road headed to my residence. Mtn View is my heating company, even the best need a tune up now and then. read more

Their maintenance prices seem high. They charge $200 for yearly maintenance visit, and they want one visit for heating and separate visit for air conditioning. Why two visits? It is a heat pump system it does both functions so don't see why two visits are needed except to charge me more. It seems other companies in this area are around $125 for maintenance and only require one visit, and can somehow miraculously service both functions at once. Now I'm wondering how much I got gouged on the original installation that was $10,000. My bad for not checking around. read more

My furnace shut down late in the afternoon on Thursday about 4:30. I got it restarted but it shut down a few minutes later. I'm new to the area and hadn't found a heating company yet. The first company in phoned 5 minutes before they closed and they didn't answer. Then I called Mountain View Heating. I talked to Laurie and told her my story. I told her it wasn't an emergency but I'd like to have a technician come out Friday if possible. She set up an appointment for Friday morning, and took all my information so the technician would have the proper parts on board. She also told me how much the service call would cost and the cost of a filter I was sure I would need. Friday morning Laurie gave me a heads up call when the technician was 20 minutes away. The technician, Ken, listened to my story. He did a very thorough inspection and determined the filter was the likely problem. He replaced it and then went through the annual maintenance check list to be certain there were no more issues. Ken is very knowledgeable and meticulous and also happy to explain what he's doing and answer any question you might have. All around my experience with the team at Mountain View Heating was very enjoyable. I'll be using them for my heating and cooling jobs in the future. read more
