Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Bend heating & sheet metal. I initially contacted them last fall to assess a low performing AC unit and they've been out to my house four times since. Most recently I was told that they would order an another new part and follow up with me ASAP. That was over 10 days ago and they've basically ghosted me. They told me it was due to employee turnover. Interestingly, enough, they never tested my ducts or the return airflow, and thus never solved my issue. I decided to reach out to another central Oregon company and the experience was drastically different. In fact, the new company was very surprised that my AC unit in the garage was left essentially unsealed and not even taped properly. Bend heating is disorganized, sloppy, and they don't follow up. read more

It wasn't an easy installation and they made it work. Now all my rooms having ac for the summer and I couldn't be more excited. I've been in Bend Oregon 48 years. I bought a new heating system from Bend Heating and sheet metal about 10 years ago. I had some issues with the system just recently. The service technician (Jesse)came out found the problem. He also looked up my records and discovered I was still under warranty. So long story short I'm back up and running. I've been really impressed over the years with this company. I have yearly maintenance and inspections on both my heating systems and BH&SM have been very professional. I would recommend this company to anyone thinking of a new heating system or repairing an existing system. Shout out once again to Jesse for the great service and professionalism. read more

We couldn't get the new AC unit to turn on after the winter. BH&SM sent Erick Dickenson to check it out. I heard him comment "Something is wonky here." He found the information on the manufacturer's website was out of date and incorrect with 2017 information. Not giving up he called the manufacturer and got their tech support to walk him through the 2021 wiring for a 2 speed compressor and fixed the problem. He just would not give up. We want him to do all of our service if possible. He was great, quiet and persistent. Even found and fixed a burned out humidifier canister. read more

We had Bend Heating & Sheet Metal make a custom stainless steel trim for our new range installed in our island and a custom stainless steel cabinet door to cover the space below our new microwave/oven wall unit. The void left was usable storage space and Ron designed a stainless steel inset with door that looks like it is part of the oven unit. It turned out absolutely beautiful and gives us additional covered storage. They do great custom fabrication work and we couldn't be happier. read more

I recently used Bend Heating and Sheet Metal for some work on a remodel. The estimator came out, and was very knowledgeable about the work to be done, and gave me a solid not-to-exceed estimate. The day of the work, the installer came promptly on time and worked hard all day on what ended up being a complex set of tasks. He was very professional as well as polite, and he worked with with other subs in the house. In the end, the work exceeded my expectations. I'll be using them again for future work. read more

I called on Bend Heating to fix my heat pump on January 18th this past year since they had installed the new heat pump in March of 2020. They were super responsive and I thought they had me fixed up. Gave them a 5 star review on Yelp. However, my heat and AC kept shutting off intermittently shortly afterwards. Every time my heat or HVAC went out, it became harder to get them back out and I was told they found no record of my address in their system. I became convinced the wiring was at fault and repeatedly asked them to investigate but I was told everything checked out and they would reset it, or one time when I insisted that only worked for awhile until it tripped again, they said it had too much antifreeze and that was tripping it. Finally when my heat pump froze over, they said it just needed a new cord but they couldn't come back out for another 3.5 weeks. What made matters worse is this after I once again had to go through the long process of giving them the original installation warranty information because they had no record of anyone coming out either the past week or the other 3 times. I finally hired another company - even though it was covered under warranty - I just couldn't continue to go on with intermittent HVAC. AccuAir came out just 2 days later and found that the low voltage had never been connected so that's why the unit kept shorting out. I paid 400.00 that would have been covered by Bend Heating under warranty but it became clear that warranty work was the lowest priority . Before writing this, I let the company know how disappointed I was and received no response. If they made any effort at all to try to resolve this issue or even return my email, I wouldn't have had to leave a bad review. which I hate to do. Running a business now is difficult and mistakes happen- I get it, but a heat pump that was never connected correctly in the first place was a mistake that should have been corrected after the first visit or at least the second. It took the 5th visit with another company to correct it. read more

This review is important as it involves having a poor install but then perseverance to make it right. I had what I thought was an easy installation. After 20 years, I decided to upgrade my electric 5 Ton Furnace and 5 ton A/C. Randall came out and gave me a bid. The two installers were, I think, more interested in getting it done than doing it right. Who knew that this install of a variable speed electric furnace was complicated? Regardless, they initially were unable to make it variable. Finally Scott Bilyeu, after calling Carrier and more visits sent Cliff out who fixed it. They were apologetic, professional, and seemed dedicated to make it right. I would highly recommend them. read more

I had to give up on Bend Heating and Sheetmetal. I had them come out for annual maintenance in May before it got hot. The service tech said there was a faulty sensor in the heat pump but it seemed to be operating fine. He said he would order a new sensor and put it in. June arrives and I haven't heard from Bend Heating so I call in to see what's up. They told me the wrong part was ordered but the right part was on it's way. June 25 arrives with no word from Bend Heating. I call again and am told the part arrived that day. I made an appointment for June 28 in the afternoon for the tech to come and install it. On June 28 the tech called in the morning and said he was running behind and couldn't make it until the afternoon. I said that was fine because my appointment was scheduled for the afternoon anyway. I asked him to call when he was on his way so we could put the dogs inside. He said he would. Well, nobody showed. I called Bend Heating again to see what he deal was and I wanted to get my part installed before the AC quit working. Two days later, the service manager left a message saying the part was installed. I'm not sure how that happened, since we have a fenced, gated property with three dogs and a driveway alarm. I'm pretty sure the tech didn't just let himself in without anybody noticing. And, AND, now my AC quit working and the house has been 90 degrees. Exactly the problem I wanted to avoid by having my annual service early in the season. Bend Heating and Sheet metal has dropped the ball so many times this season, I can't take it any longer. I can no longer recommend Bend Heating and Sheet metal. read more

I hired Bend Heating to install Daikin ductless heat pumps with Ecobee WiFi Thermostats in our 4 plex in Bend. Each apartment needed it's own heating/cooling control however they spec'd out and installed a system that does not allow each unit to heat or cool depending on what is being called for. The system either operates with all units heating or all units cooling. We had no idea this was the case. We were trusting they knew what we needed. This is a big problem as during the spring and fall when days are warm but nights are cold tenants cannot make their living space comfortable unless we change all the setting from heat to cool or vice versa. The first problem and probably the biggest is that the system is not designed for our application as it does not provide the desired comfort for each of the 4 apartments independently. Secondly, no one at Bend Heating had any experience with installing, setting up or programming the Ecobee thermostats. I had to do that myself and the technicians who service the system are still clueless as to how to access the thermostats and interpret the reports. Thirdly, they took much longer to install the system than what was planned and pulled key personnel off the job to work on other projects while lesser qualified personnel finished up. It was a painful experience. When I explained these shortcomings to Scott Zettle, the owner, he has simply ignored the situation and 3 years later has not done anything to attempt to correct the problems or suggest a solution. The bottom line is that this job was more than they could handle. In general, if the job is routine and the system is simple they are known to do a decent job. In this case they were not qualified to design and install my system and have done nothing to correct their flawed design. For that reason I will not hire them again and thus the 2 star rating. read more

100% my go to for heating and cooling! They have been so amazing and helpful when our gas heat stopped working. Lori and Jodi in the office are prompt and amazing to talk to and Mike was the best at trying every option to help us get it working again at the most affordable to us. Even in the end, having to replace a big part, they were very quick and reliable and I could not have asked for better service! I really appreciate their hard work and dedication to their customers! We ordered the Daikin ductless heating and cooling system and it was installed October 2016. We weren't sure whether to go this route or with central heating, but after looking at reviews and talking to Randall from Bend Heating and Sheet Metal, who assured us that this unit would be great in our home, we decided on the ductless. Oh boy, what a mistake and a giant piece of junk! In the colder months, this thing runs constantly and our electric bills INCREASED, rather than decreased, like we were told. Our home is constantly COLD in the winter months! The thing blows lukewarm air continually! In Dec. 2016, we called to tell them we were freezing and they told us that when it's cold outside, the thing can't keep it warm inside. WHAT??? Then in January, we called again because our house averaged an inside temperature of mid 30 degrees. They came out and noticed that an ice dam had broken part of the main system outside. For the next month and a half, we were given the run around as to where the part was...it had to be ordered.... no one knew when it was going to arrive....etc. etc. Finally it was "fixed". Yes, back to mediocre. Here we are, colder months again, December 2017 and my house was 58 degrees in the same room that thing has been running 24/7. We also had a fire going all evening and it isn't too cold outside yet. I would venture to say that without the fire and with the cooler temps arriving, I am looking at an inside temperature in the 40's with that Daikin unit running constantly. My advice is DON'T GET A DAIKIN DUCTLESS UNIT. It's really a hunk of junk and we don't think Bend Heating was either knowledgeable or sympathetic to our early complaints of the system. read more

We got a Carrier heat pump from Bend Heating when we worked with Greensavers to help us make our home better insulated and decrease heating costs. Within the first year the heat pump needed to be replaced because of a leak. We received a new heat pump. In December of this year the heat pump was again not working. We were told to put our system on "Emergency" heating. We did that and called later to have a technician check to see what the problem was. He informed us of a problem with a valve of some kind that was not working. We still needed to use the "emergency" heating. This means that the furnace runs constantly, sounds like a jet taking off and sends any dust and dog hair in the air to new and many places. My husband has called Bend Heating to talk to someone regarding this problem twice now since the technician checked the system. No one has returned our calls. This is week 4. We recognize that they are probably busy with the current weather conditions in our area but no one has called to say even that. I personally have found this to be very frustrating as my sleep has been disrupted and my respiratory system compromised. Love seeing a great review from someone else during this time.
