When I tell you that Dylan and Balance Massage saved my entire trip, I mean it wholeheartedly. My sister was so glad to see Dylan had availability to save my shoulder and neck, because she is fully aware of how I get when I have muscle pains. I booked a 90 minute hot stone massage, and Dylan put in WORK for all 90 minutes. As an avid massage enjoyer (I have held memberships with different massage therapy companies for the past 5 years), I truly believe this was the best massage I've ever had. I mentioned to Dylan that I get massages every month and that I would definitely need the deepest tissue massage possible - he delivered from the first minute to the last. Especially with 90 minute massages, therapists need to take a break from the deep tissue and work on hands and feet and other more gentle spots. But Dylan understood that I needed my neck and shoulder to be normal again and mostly focused on my problem areas for the entire 90 minutes. I wish this was my primary massage spot, but I will absolutely be returning the next time I visit Fort Mill!

The smell was the crock pot burning. The masseuse then asked if I wanted an essential oil to diffuse the smell. The masseuse opened the essential oil. I should have asked for a different room as I am sensitive to smells, but I didn't. The smell was alarming and concerning. The massage itself was nice. The masseuse was a very nice woman. Since I booked custom massage through ClassPass, I wasn't asked what customization I wanted.

The person who did the massage clearly did not look at my chart because the person messaged me in areas I never get massaged by anyone else ever. When I arrived I made it clear that I wanted to just relax for my 90-minute massage. In the beginning, the massage was great but I was put into stretches, touched in areas I was not comfortable with, and comments made to "you can relax, I haven't dropped anyone all day". As I tensed up the person only got harder and ended up leaving bruises on my arms. I left there in worst shape than I arrived. Just to start off, the session was at 9am and my esthetician wasn't welcoming. When we began my consultation about what my skin goals were, it felt as though i was talking to a wall--no personality, no smile, felt like she didn't want to be there. With the actual facial itself--The room was extremely dark, how can you see what you're doing to my face in a dark room? How I knew the room was too dark was because when she finished with the cleanser, there are tiny beads that help with exfoliating and she turned the bright light over my face to do my skin care analysis and she was continuing to pick off/wipe away tiny beads from my skin and then blaming it on the product instead of blaming it on her own technique. I knew that this esthetician wasn't experienced and her demeanor reflected that. There were many steps that were missing from the actual facial--I didn't get any massage time and her reasoning behind that was "we were doing extractions." She only touched my face and never worked the products into my neck and décolleté area. Why would I pay for a service, if I'm not even receiving the whole service? We only have 50 min of hands on time in a 60 min session and time management was horrible. If a front desk associate is breaking down a session to me and telling me what to expect and my service provider doesn't do what is expected will I come back? Absolutely not. When the facial was over, the esthetician didn't recommend any take home products or even tell me good bye. It's little things that makes the experience a wholesome one but this store missed the mark. Spoke with the front desk girl and she didn't charge me for the session, but she did say a manager would call me to talk about the incident and I haven't gotten a call and my appointment was 5 days ago. Very unprofessional and won't be coming back or recommending this location to my friends and family.

We got to the room and stripped down and had an alright massage. The ladies would ask us our preference for the massage and I needed it softer at times and harder. We were also given the lavender oil option for $10 more to which we declined as the regular oil sufficed. The downside is there was no hot stone like I'm used to getting and the ladies talked to eachother laughing for probably about 10-15 minutes of the whole massage. Sometimes they would whisper but I wanted to relax and just hear the sounds of the music. The massage oil was also on the other side of the room instead of them having it nearby so they would have to stop at times and walk all the way over to reapply. We still tipped them $20 each but next time I would do single massages to avoid conversation during my paid time. I'm glad I could finally stop by and experience it after always driving by it my whole life but for the price I could get a better massage in New York.
