I have been going to Andy for 15 years and I've actually let a few things slide but this one took the cake , I go in and speak and he looks at me , I speak again and basically had to pry a good morning out of him ! A girl walks in behind me and he is pleasant and ask her what she needs! I've noticed racist behavior toward black people in the shop for a while and how he speaks to and handles us and then when a white person comes in he and his staff is pleasant and friendly! I left and came back and mentioned it to him and he played dumb (per usual) and asked was I crazy! Horrible experience took my 3 girls for back to school nails which we never do and they took them one by one while other walk ins went in I asked when they might by able to take them and to remind them that they still need to get them done only one had been had received services. The client and nail technician (that sits in the first seat.) Laughed and talked about how "no cares about your kids" right in front of them They felt so uncomfortable they wanted to leave. read more

Racist and rude. I went in for a mani/pedi this morning and was met with the ultimate rudeness. I asked for Tina who gave me her card the last time I was there and apparently, she did not want to do my pedicure. At first one service tech said she was eating, and all of the techs laughed. I asked what was funny and was told Tina doesn't like to do pedicures. So she offered to have someone else do it. I asked if she, the individual who was doing all the talking, would do my pedicure and she said yes, but proceeded to bring someone else to do it. I have never been met with such unprofessionalism as I have in this shop! A white woman walked in and Tina serviced her without delay or hesitation. Another black woman walked in asking for a specific tech to wax her eyebrows. They told her that the person was not there but would be back tomorrow. However, a white woman walked in 10 minutes behind the black woman and she was able to get her eyebrows waxed. The young man who did my pedicure was good, until towards the end of service he put lotion on my legs but not my feet. When he finished, I asked if he was going to lotion my feet and he smeared the lotion on with an attitude and left it without smoothing it in and was about to put my shoes on, but I stopped him and said "are you going to leave it like that?" He acted dumbfounded and annoyed. It was his responsibility to make sure to put the lotion on both my feet and legs at the same time. Not my job to tell you how to do your job. If anyone had the right to be annoyed it was me. When I brought it to his attention, he had the audacity to leave it. So, I smoothed it in on my own feet. At checkout he tried to give me some thank you gift which was a tube of lotion that had brown stains on it. I left it there on the counter. This place has gone down hill. I have only been here a hand full of times, but never experienced this. And won't have to deal with it again because my money will be better spent where customer service is a priority and ALL people are welcomed and appreciated. My daughter, my sister and I came in around 6:30pm to get manicures. I was worried about if they would do my daughter's nails as she's 4 almost 5. When they sat her down the nail tech named Yen was so nice to her and helped her enjoy the experience, Andy did my nails and was so nice. Just over paid for a pedicure! $50 for 15 mins is beyond pathetic. The owner's wife did it and not only did she nickle and dime me ($5 to remove the gel nail polish that was done last time I was here) when I was going to get a full set with gel polish and my daughter is currently still getting her full set! I opted out of the set because she did such a poor job on my pedi that I will need to find another salon who lines the tubs!! We have been coming here for about four years on and off and I'm tired of being taken advantage of! They upcharge for EVERYTHING and the woman who normally does my toes is amazing (Michelle) but was already taken ! They (the owners) are so beyond money hungry even with return customers with no service at all....sad! Only gave 2 stars because they lined the tubes and it's a clean spa. Ashame that we will have to find a new place. But this was my last straw of giving money to people who don't value return paying customers! read more

Went to try this place out because it looked nice and figured I could grocery shop at Walmart after, BEWARE. Money down the drain. I picked out my color and show a picture of how I wanted gold in addition, my nails left looking like this and As I was pushed out the door since the clock turned to saying 7:00 closing time. This is gel polish which I always get other places and stays in tact for almost a month. When I went back to get a refund I was offered for them to only redo them. I have given this nail salon 5 attempts now and every visit has been less than satisfactory but today's visit visits were was the worst making it my last visit. Every time I have been they seem to be in a hurry and they do not give the service that you are paying for. Example- pedicure quick where they do not exfoliate well or a manicure that they do not get the dead skin off from around the nail and don't bother getting all of the previous polish off. Today because this salon is close to my home I decided to give them another chance.... MISTAKE! When I went in one of the older male technicians tried to force the old gel polish of my nails with a sharp tool pulling part of my nail bed up and hurting me. When I flinched he said "Ill let them soak". Heck yes! Please don't hurt me and take the polish off the correct way!!!! Then they left me sitting in the chair for 10 minutes without saying anything to me. The male tech disappeared to the back. I thought he digit about me. Then a female tech came out and asked me to move to her station. She had no clue why I was there. The female nail tech who did my nails seemed to have other things occupying her mind while she was in constant conversation with her co-workers. She did a poor job on my nails. She didn't attempt to take the time to file my nails so they were the same length, she nicked 2 of my cuticles and made them bleed, and she left bumps in my gel polish. I know you can't get polish on your cuticles but the way she painteds mine looks like it has a week's worth of growth already. This is the LAST TIME I will go here and I will let others know of my experience. read more

Horrible experience!! This was my 5th visit getting a pedicure so I was not a 'new' customer and thought I developed a good rapport with my nail technician. The pedicure was on a Friday and by Tuesday the ingrown toenail that developed was red, swollen, and infected. I went back to ask them to 'fix' the toenail and was told by the owner to 'leave it alone for a few days and it will fix itself'. This is the most irresponsible response that I've ever heard from a salon. Nobody stepped in to offer any assistance or compensation for the poor quality of work. After getting pedicures from a salon I had used for 6+ yrs I have NEVER developed an ingrown toenail until now at this place. The manager is rude, talks unprofessionally about his clients behind their backs, and basically told me that the salon is his and he can do what he wants with it. I left and immediately went to another salon that willingly and graciously worked to 'fix' my toe. My now new favorite salon(!) did an amazing job, took care of the ingrown nail, and it has healed perfectly without having to resort to a doctor's visit as the worthless manager suggested. I would caution anybody to rethink going to or continuing with Unique nails. They're a joke. read more

I was in the chair ready to go when two white female shows up for a pedicure . I was told my appointment needed to be rescheduled. I heard the two ladies say they didn't have an appointment. I was hesitant to come to Unique Nail & Spa because of it's Yelp rating and reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The technicians were very sweet and tended to customers in a timely manner. I got the unique mani pedi. My technician took her time to ensure my polish was evenly applied and my nails were clean and evenly trimmed. I was surprised by how long the massage and scrub were. I went in this past weekend for a pedicure while my mom got fills for her nails. I walked in and immediately went to pick out my color. While the selection was wide, it was clear that several of the polishes were watered down to extend the life of polish in the bottles based on the liquidity of the polish. It was certainly hard to pick a color being that I wanted a color that would last a few weeks. After picking my color, I was directed to "chair 7" for my pedicure. The nail technician was polite and friendly and engaged in small talk, I was more concerned with the playoff game on the TV over her head though. She did offer me a water or soda while I got my nails done. She asked if I would like to upgrade to the deluxe and, not thinking, I did so. I wish I hadn't being that they used a "cooling gel" in the massage portion which actually left me shivering when I left being how cold it is outside. The massage was nice and she did a nice job, was more patient than most with me considering I am rather ticklish and always fear I'm going to kick them in the face. After I got home and looked at the job done, I can see where multiple coats of polish were painted on and where there was just one coat - thankfully it's my feet, not my hands, so it's not as noticeable. After my pedicure, I was directed to the drying table to sit under the lamps for a few minutes. I had noticed they are opening Avalon Spa next door as an extension of their services, I tried to ask a male employee about the new services they would be providing and he seemed to have little interest in answering the questions which was rather disappointing and a shame as, should I have chosen them, I would have spent about $160/month (I can get the same service unlimited for about $50/month up the road so yeah...). I have received pedicures quite frequently over the years and tend to prefer asian salons as they are friendly and do a decent job at a reasonable price. There are standard salons and salons who go the extra mile without upping the cost. For me, this was a standard salon, nothing special. While it's down the road, I will be looking at other salons in the area for that extra mile. read more

This salon has got to be my absolute favorite of any that I have EVER been in. I have been wearing acrylics for over 10 years now and these folks are the most professional and efficient that I have ever seen. I stopped in for a color change while visiting friends from out of town and they took me with no wait. They use fresh files for each client (and you take it home with you), they are pictures at each station for choosing your shapes as well. They use a computer system to track customers too... just amazing all around! read more

The first time I went here, I had a fill in. The guy did an amazing job, so I went back for my next fill in. Unfortunately, they dont take requests, so I had the next person available. He did an awful job. The nails on my left hand were shorter than my right hand. He ground them down very far to where I could feel the heat and it hurt. He slipped once and got my finger. Now 1 week later the polish is chipping off after they told me I had to have gel polish that would last longer. And of course, gel polish is more expensive. I will never go back there! What a waste of money. I gave it a one star only because Yelp makes you, otherwise, I wouldn't give this place any. read more

This was literally the worst place ive gotten a manicure. I came in with my sister and we both got mani/pedis. My pedicure was amazing, and the polish on it was perfect; it was done by some older man. My manicure was done by some older lady, who didn't do such a great job. I still was very polite and tried to let her know I wasn't feeling it. She insisted it was fine.... ??? Finally NINA came over and attempted to fix the mess MARY made. She did ok, but the nails still looked like shit. I had polish on my cuticles, they were filed unevenly, and the gel was too thick. Mary literally did like 6/7 coats of gel polish. What the fuck. At this point I just wanted to leave. I kept looking at my nails all night and was so disappointed. So the next day I CALLED before hand and asked if I can come in and if they could redo my nails. I spoke to a man, and he said sure. When I got there, I literally had 2 of the technicians jumping down my throat telling me there was nothing wrong with my nails. Poor Nina was trying to help me but these rude technicians wouldn't let her. They almost made me cry out of anger with how rude they were being. They started off with: we can redo them but you have to keep the same polish, to never mind they're fine but we can reshape them for you, to never mind we'll only reshape TWO nails, to ok we can repolish for you. That is when one of the two rude technicians WOULD NOT LET GO OF MY HAND and i had to PULL away from her. I said no thank you, I'm fine. Despite the bad reviews found on yelp, my sister and I thought we would give this place a chance. Huge mistake. We were charged $55.00 for an unprofessional and mediocre job on a manicure/gel polish. I have posted pictures, the job was horrible. The ambiance is pretty professional, so you are fooled into thinking you will be receiving your money's worth. Although the place was empty, my tech rushed through my manicure, not once moistening my nails and barely took care of my cuticles, leaving a lot of residual skin around my nails. She roughly scraped my nail bed and left a lot undone. While applying the nail polish she left the sides unclean, so that the polish dried on my skin and it looks bulky. My sister's job was even worse. Her tech used huge amount of gel polish and left chunks on her nail. Thankfully, I do nails and was able to fix both our nails. I will be moving to this area within two weeks. I am glad now I know where not to go. I do not recommend this place. These are licensed techs, they should know better. I have been to bad places, but this was the worst. One piece of advise to the staff; take care of your customers, do not rush and attention to detail is very important. As customers we expect to get our money's worth, sadly you are not providing the service. read more

Such a horrible experience. My nail tech literally face timed and talked on the phone the whole time she was doing my fingernails. They refused to do more than one coat of the mint gel polish I want. Their color selection is horrible and they were out of every color I wanted. My nails had missed spots and air bubbles and some dis coloring so I said something and the owner or manager told me it was because I hit something. How did I hit every nail when I walked from the chair to do fingernails to the chair one step away to do my pedi. Then when they redid them they STILL has air bubbles and missing/chips on the tips. It took them 30 mins to ask me if I wanted something to drink. Horrible experience I will never go back! Avoid at all costs! read more

I have a 91 year old mother who cannot trim her toe nails. I take her here. So kind, such compassion, and professional. They wash her feet, soak her nails, and trim in a way that I cannot do. They paint those toes bright red, and she smiles! I am not only complimenting them, but thanking them for doing the job that they do. They take a would-be chore and turn it into a "treat". The place is nice inside, but they are high priced! I was charged $32.50 for just a manicure with gel polish!!! I almost fainted and felt extremely guilty when I walked out. I work in Ballantyne and never have paid more than $22 for a manicure with gel polish! Their website states $27 so why did he charge me $32.50!! I should have said something there, but then I knew I would never go back. I told my friends at work and their reaction was as bad as mine! I went to Unique Nail and Spa to get a gel mani. I was greeted immediately and told to pick out a color. After a few minutes I was directed to a station. The lady put the caps and soaked cotton on my nails to loosen the gel I already had. She told me it would soak about 10 minutes. At that point, she got up from the station and I sat back to wait. After about 15 minutes I noticed she had begun a pedicure at the station right beside me. I didn't really think anything of it and just assumed someone else would be finished my manicure. Over a half and hour later I am STILL sitting there waiting. My former technician clearly had no worries about taking care of me or of asking someone else to take care of me. I looked around for a while for someone that I could ask for help. Finally, a girl walked by me and said "Oh, I'll be right back." Well... she never came back. A man walked by and said "Oh, I'll be right back." He never returned either. Finally, a third person came over to me and decided he was going to take care of me. The manicure was just ok. The edges are not smooth, so I will definitely have to get it redone (not here!) very soon because they are already starting to come up.
