Why can't I give more than 5 stars??!…read more If you are like me and HATE working out, Lena is the personal trainer you never knew you needed. She provides a judgement-free environment with zero pressure from others because it's just you and her during the 1:1 sessions. She gives the right amount of push, positive reinforcement, and guidance so you can achieve your own goals. She is firm and demanding, but somehow gentle and understanding at the same time, too. She checks in to see how you're feeling at the start, multiple times during, and at the end of each session. She is attentive, provides clear instructions, models the movements, and is very open to modifying exercises and expectations based on what you personally need. I also love that her gym is smaller than a typical corporate gym. It has a cozier, less intimidating feel to it. Not to worry, though. Her gym is fully stocked and she has everything you need to achieve a full-body workout. In addition to a free consultation (5-10 min talk re: goals + 30 min workout), she offers single sessions or you can buy a package of sessions at a slight discount. In terms of scheduling, she's very accommodating. I've had to change my session to another day several times now and she was really great about squeezing me in on another day of the week. If you're on the fence about signing up, don't be. Lena is nothing like the personal trainer stereotypes out there. She's personable, approachable, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Do this for your future self; you won't regret it!

I was a little hesitant to sign up with Lena because I've never worked with a personal trainer…read morebefore. Also, being a guy, I didn't know if it would be awkward to have a female trainer. It's not that I don't think women can be good trainers. I just figured a male trainer would better know my needs because he's also male. However, it's hands-down the best decision I've made regarding my health goals. Lena knows her stuff and the results I've been seeing is definite proof. I started with Lena four months ago and I'm down 13 lbs. I've gained noticeable muscle in my arms, legs, back, and abs. She not only pushes me to do challenging workouts, she customizes it for me so I never feel like I can't do something. She holds me accountable, but doesn't ever make me feel bad if I'm a little lax one week. She also works with me to monitor my macros. I definitely didn't want to track macros at first because I was afraid all I'd get to eat was chicken breast and egg whites. I do eat a lot of that, but I also get to eat what I want. I use her guidelines to stay on track and she reminds me that it's more about hitting macros over an average week. If I went carb heavy one day, I should make up for it by cutting back a bit the next day - it all evens out if you do it right. Can I work out on my own? Yes. Can I track macros on my own? Yes. But Lena provides the accountability piece that keeps me honest and motivated. Plus, she's positive, encouraging, and easy to chat with. Makes the one hour session go by pretty quick. Definitely recommend training with Lena. She's great!

From your first workout you are family and everyone here is equally invested in your goals. I'm the typical yo-yo dieter/newest gym fad gal and I've been coming to FNS for 3 years. That's like a decade in fad girl time. This place was built with heart and sweat. The workouts are intense but you can go at your own pace. There is always someone in class at your level and you won't feel intimidated like you might at other gyms. When you give up and don't show up for a few classes guess what happens... they text you to check-in. I've never seen that happen at the 1,000 other gyms I've tried in my lifetime. If you're ready to hit some goals while having fun and doing it all in a healthy way FNS is for you. Don't sleep on it ;)

I'm a sucker for the Strength 50 classes so I do those most often, but I've tried a couple of the signature Orange 60 as well as their newest offering, the Hyrox 60. All of the classes are consistently challenging and different so I don't get bored of the same workout. I've been a member for almost a month now going pretty frequently and all the coaches are top notch. Trying out a new format, new coach, or even new location can be a bit intimidating but Rose Garden is suited for all levels, from beginners to gym rats. I've found parking to be pretty easy for the 5-6am classes as well as for the 4pm and weekend classes. I haven't gone during what I consider more of the peak hours but they so have parking in the lot behind the OTF storefront. I paid $135 for the OTF HR monitor band but they allow you to borrow one for your first class so you can see how it works with the machines in the studio, and how you receive your HR & workout data via the app.

It felt like they were just watching the clock, waiting to see if I'd make it, and got smug when I didn't. Their tone only changed after I said I'd file a complaint. I've been to the Emeryville, SF, and Santa Clara OTFs before and never had an issue like this.

I've been coming here for about three months now, and I genuinely have nothing but great things to…read moresay. I have a pretty atypical schedule, so having a gym where I can work out between 8-12 is really important to me. The 8:30 AM classes have been perfect and make it so much easier for me to stay consistent. As a woman, I especially love the women's classes, but I've felt just as comfortable in the regular classes. I've never walked into a class and felt like I didn't belong. The environment has always been welcoming, accepting, and encouraging, regardless of experience level. One experience really stood out to me. We were doing a game/drill in class and I was paired with people who were much more experienced boxers than I am. I knew I was probably going to lose and I was honestly intimidated and didn't really want to participate. Instead of making me feel out of place, everyone was incredibly encouraging and made me want to jump in and try anyway. I think that says a lot about the culture here. I also love that every coach brings something different. They each have their own coaching style, personality, and music, so the classes never feel repetitive. You can come several times a week and still have a different experience each time. And the workouts are no joke! When I track classes on my Apple Watch, I'm typically burning around 400-500 calories, and I always leave feeling like I got a great workout. It's been such a fun way to get in better shape while also actually learning boxing. If you're interested in boxing but feel intimidated because you're new or don't consider yourself a "boxer," I would absolutely recommend giving this place a try. Three months in, I'm really glad I did.
