They moved us from the bay area to the Sacramento area. The quote was reasonable since they were going to move my husband's workshop which was an enormous task so we picked them. They also had a recommendation from our real estate agent. The person who packed our kitchen did an awesome job. Unfortunately the remainder of the 5 person crew was not as good. some boxes were marked with vague descriptions that didn't include room names so we've had to open everything to find things. They didn't do near the same quality of job as the kitchen with the garage. There were multiple items that were broken. They manhandled the cabinets and tools. Some cabinets and tables were so stressed that we had to repair them to use again. One item of particular value was broken. Don't do a huge job in one day. Crew got tired and the quality of packing showed. Unpacking at our new location was challenging. Since furniture went in first and boxes last, the truck was unloaded the same way. Boxes were put in rooms before furniture placed. Some of their workers wouldn't listen to directions so things got moved a lot more than needed. It would have been more efficient to put the boxes aside so they could unload and set up furniture. Then put the boxes on the furniture where it belonged. You would think an experienced crew would know how to pack and unload more efficiently. read more

I'm very happy to share this review. Avner and Gil (and the moving crew) we're extremely professionals and we had a great experience. I've had some bad experiences with movers and that made me feel very uncomfortable dealing with them again. When we shopped around for a moving service this time I had a few coming in that reminded me why I should be wary. But when we meet Avner both my wife and I felt we're dealing with a different persona. They're quote want the cheapest one and when we asked them for reduction as we got other quotes, Avner pointed out all the hidden fees the others weren't sharing. When I confronted the two others I realized their quote was not only competitive but also was reassured I'm not going to get stung... The moving day went very smoothly. The level of service was great and the movers we're very kind. Avner and Gil called a few times to make sure we were satisfied from the level of service. I recently had a container shipped from France to California. Moving Star was the chosen company to track my container, retrieve it from the port of Oakland, and transport it to their warehouse in Fremont. Throughout the process, they were thorough and excellent with communication, and I felt very assured that they were knowledgeable working with customs and the port authorities. They worked with me to find an agreeable time to have me come to their warehouse and watch the unloading of my container as they knew I wanted to grab a few items I had been waiting for. The team at the warehouse was friendly and efficient. They carefully unloaded the container and separated the contents to make it easy for me to find things in storage. They even sent a video and pictures of the first opening of the container so that I could see exactly how the contents arrived. My husband and I relocated from San Francisco to Munich Germany in April of 2010. After getting a few different bids (money was not the deciding factor when it came to selecting a company because my husbands company paid for our relocation expenses 100%) we went with Moving Star/Rainier because they were professional, straight forward, extremely easy to communicate with and were willing to work with us in getting our car shipped over, which was a huge hassle. *If you are planning on moving a car overseas it is imperative that you select a moving company who has experience with this and who is extremely knowledgeable in regards to the regulations/requirements/potential problems at the various ports, which Moving Star IS. * The move went flawlessly. On move day, the team they sent to pack up our life took care with our things as though it was their own (you should see how carefully they wrapped our mattress!!! Even our box spring!!!). Every one of our items (including our new car) arrived, to our door in Germany, without a scratch and within the time they had quoted us. Aside from the fact that our household goods AND CAR made it to us without a single problem, one of the main reasons we will be using Moving Star again when we relocate back to SF this Spring is because they are so easy to communicate with which was/is a huge deal to me. Particularly when I was homesick and sleeping on an half deflated air mattress that we borrowed from some Italian guy, in an empty apartment, in a VERY foreign country. They were always available to us if we needed anything,or had any questions, before the move, during the move and after our items had been delivered and signed off. No email ever went unanswered, no phone call ignored. We were provided with a contact person at each location. They delivered (which is why we hired them, right?) what they promised and both my husband and myself were very impressed. I admit, I cried a little when they brought up our bed. Moving your personal stuff from one country to another has got to be the most stressful part of relocating overseas, aside from not knowing the language in the country you are going to. We used Moving Star for a Bay Area (CA) to Park CIty (UT) in December 2015. Great job and would recommend to others. Had tight schedules with moving cars and setting up on the Utah side. Avner helped make our dates happen. Made us feel comfortable they could handle our 3 bedroom move (but really 4-5 bedrooms of stuff + garage and outdoor items), especially into a winter environment. I used movingstar last year Oct moving from Hong Kong back to Bay area, thinking it's gonna be complicated and alot to worry about. Surprisingly it was smoothest experience i ever expected. They walked me through step by step, giving me updates on my shipment without having me to ask them. Packing was professional and neat! I needed an estimate for a complicated move--first to storage, then long distance (likely cross-country, but potentially international). Avner and his colleagues were great. I used full service moving between Campbell, CA and Rocklin, CA, they packed everything on the previous day. The guys were very nice and WOW ! they can pack! Delivery happened on the next day, they were there on time, they unloaded everything, not a nick on the furnitures (they wrapped it) nor on the walls an these were 2 story homes. Very impressive. They assembled the furniture, put the boxes into the right rooms. I unpacked all my china and crystals and I did not have one broken piece and not even a chip. I bought a desk from Bernhardt Furniture through my interior designer. I had to have a receiving company take responsibility for receiving the furniture. Because it was only a desk, I didn't need it delivered. We were able to get that in our pickup ourselves. I called MovingStar and they allowed us to have it received for free. I was amazed at this service. So, when we remodeled our house this year, we needed a receiving company as well as movers to deliver our new furniture. I don't know where to start. Our initial engagement started with a one day delay because the truck was not available. We decided for the storage option because we were in transition. The movers they hire do not read the instructions on the boxes and try to get everything out of the truck without considering if its "Fragile" or not. As a result, I had a lot of Riedel and European glasses broke as well as designer furniture damaged. When contacting them to find a solution, they recommended I use my own insurance. The movers have been courteous, very hard working and always careful to put the furniture just where we wanted it. And we have never had anything broken or damaged. Their stuff stole my jewelry, and other precious items that run in our family for years.
