I've used several different movers for our moves, as there was always something that didn't quite meet our expectations, preventing us from committing to one specific company...whether it was unexpected hidden fees, lack of communication, broken items, or just flat out being lied to. Now that our family has expanded by two kids, we have a lot more to have shipped, and needed delivered in a relatively timely manner. Our last move from Seattle back to Santa Monica we used Long Distance Movers for the first time. This was the best experience I've had yet with a moving company, by far. Everyone I communicated with from this company were professional, and more importantly, available to communicate with at all times. From the initial sales person who scheduled us, to the dispatcher providing updates for delivery..to our amazing crew consisting of Andrew, Scott, Johnny and Robert. These four guys were the best moving crew that I've ever had. From pickup to delivery, it was about as flawless of an experience anyone could ask for. I will, without hesitation, use Long Distance Movers for our next move..which will inevitably happen. Vehicle shipments are farmed out to other distributors, so you're better off hiring a company directly instead of having LDM as a middleman making communication more difficult. Do NOT schedule a move on the weekend -- it's been impossible to get a hold of a living soul, and I've called 5 different numbers to try and get an update for when the movers will arrive at my home today (we're halfway through the pickup window now and I have no idea if they're coming today or not). I emphasized the importance of my cars being delivered by a specific date and asked to err on the side of caution to ensure they arrived in time -- LDM kept pushing the pickup date assuring me the cars would still arrive in time, only to learn from the distributor that it'll be 3-4 days after the deadline I provided.

Updating the review here. All of my things had been moved into storage at my request and initially…read moreappeared well packaged. And the guys were nice. However, both of my 70" TVs were broken (screens all messed up) when I tried to turn them on. (I remembered both had been moved in the van while standing on their short end. I looked this up after finding them broken, and I found that standing TVs on the short end is not the way to store them, as it puts pressure on the screen in a way it was not designed to bear. Especially in a bouncing moving van!) And my bookstand with wheels had one broken wheel (probably they forgot to unlock the wheels before trying to move it). Ugh. Later, the main mover guy texted to ask me to give them a good review at a different link than the one I had used to write this Yelp review. I let him know about the TVs (I had not discovered the book case yet). And he made a big deal over how this had never happened to them before and his guys were so upset and how they didn't do anything wrong. And then he said I could file a claim with the company but asked me to say they had not done anything wrong, everything had been packed right. Well, clearly not the case! And not my problem to protect his ego. Double ugh. I made a 1.5 hour round trip drive to drop off the TVs at a free electronic recycle. I'll go to Costco to try and replace these TVs. They were probably only each worth 100 when broken, but I'll have to pay a lot more than that to replace them. A serious drag.
