They sold me a used Ariens from "the early 90s." I asked what year and they said they were hard to date as you couldn't just look at the serial number and tell. Being curious, I chatted with Ariens customer support online. Two minutes later, I knew my 1990s snowblower was actually from 1979.

I was frankly a little skeptical about taking my 9-10 year old Craftsman 24" snow blower (that's…read morenever been serviced) to Nelson's after reading all the negative feedback on Yelp, but it wasn't starting up and I had no clue how to fix it. The guy there was nice and helped me get it out of the back of my SUV. When I asked for quote for figuring out why it's not starting up, he said they charge $85/hour and would call me with an estimate once they take a look at it. I dropped it off on Saturday, Mar.14. They called me with a detail quote two business days later on Tuesday, Mar.17. They suggested more efficient and cost effective way of fixing it would be replacing the carb assembly. They also pointed out one of my tires was low which caused the auger scraper to wear unevenly and recommended replacing that as well. Spark plug was original and new one was pretty cheap, so I asked him to replace it, too. By Thursday, Mar.19, they fixed the engine not starting issue with the new card assembly, put in a new spark plug, tire innertube, new auger scraper, flushed the fuel system and put in some non ethanol fuel, which they told me has a 12 month shelf life, so I can keep that in the tank till next season vs regular gas only lasts about 30 - 45 days, so that should always be used up before storing it away after the winter. All that (see the last pic of the invoice for more detail) for $243.08 and some great advice along the way. Hopefully the snow blower will last many more seasons, especially now that I know how to better take care of it. I guess others who left all that negative feedback and low rating had some bad experience, but mine was great and I would certainly recommend giving Nelson Bros a shot! I did what you are not supposed to do and threw a tarp instead of snow threw my two stage snow blower and bent the blade. Brought it in and had the initial diagnosis and hoping the axle is not bent too. Within 6 hours (This is February) John called me to tell me the good news and then the bad news. A few other things like bearings scrape plate and skid plates (he said he would just flip them so no need to buy parts for that) would need replacing. The minimum was the scrape plate to do but the labor to do all of this was one hour ($80) and it would take him a total of an hour to do everything so why wait. John was very honest so I didn't hesitate to have him repair everything. With it being mid winter he said it would be 5-10 days but it was only because he is waiting on the parts. Not bad at all. Check out his facility. Very clean and organized which tells me John takes pride in his work and business. With spring almost here, I wasn't sure if I would be able to try the snow blower since being fixed. Well, Wisconsin and yet another heavy snow fall and I was able to try it out. I can say, it runs like new and I can't remember it ever running like this. All the things bad on it I just got use to. I think overall, this was a really good value in terms of price and quality. You can't put a price on honesty too and I haven't done a great deal of work with John, but I trust him.

He comes to you at your business or your home and has his workshop inside a trailer. On today's date, I was lucky enough to get him to come over to the house a day before a promised blizzard in the forecast, and help me to get my snowblower started which I wanted to check before tomorrow's snowstorm. I'm lucky that I did it because the snowblower would not start for me. After replacing a spark plug myself, I was convinced that I had a carburetor issue. I searched for a mobile repair business and found Cole. Cole diagnosed a couple of major issues with the snowblower and was able to correct the issues and put the snowblower into perfect repair. I feel lucky that I was able to find Cole and to have him respond to my house on such short notice. I highly recommend using Cole for your small engine issues, especially snowblower and lawnmower repair!

The gentleman at the counter took my tire in the back and repaired my problem less than 10 minutes. They could have told me it needed replacement and sold a tire, but they didn't. And they could not have been more pleasant. A great place to do business. BTW the price I got on the mower was competitive and their service rates are fair!
