We had an absolutely terrible (and environmentally damaging) experience with Moxie. We specifically asked them (both recorded on our account and verbally to them upon arrival) not to put anything in our grass, as we want to foster a healthy environment for fireflies. But they proceeded to fill the grass with pesticides (we caught it at the tail end of the service call, but it was too late). When we reported it and asked to cancel the service, they charged us $299 despite the breach in contract. Plus, who charges $299 to stop a service that already charges per visit?! Moxie is undoubtedly a scam, and I draw the line at any company who willingly kills fireflies and has no remorse for it. UPDATE: Moxie replied below to say that we should call about this issue, but we did call (and emailed) Moxie about it when it happened, and their only response was to send us a cancellation agreement with a $299 bill. read more

This is a scam company. Lied about rats in the attic, almost got 11k - had a different pest control person inspect same day. No rats. He said even the installation repair quote wasn't accurate for what they promised to do. I hope no one else uses Joshua Pest Control (DBA Moxie) and they no longer stay in business. This is predatory and terrifying that they're still in business. Update to response below from "Business Manager": I will never be contacting your office - only to cancel our pest services with you. Our Pest Control also said that the traps haven't been set correctly in months so we are paying for a service you are not even providing. This is not a reputable company - even the person we had give a second opinion said Joshua's Pest (Moxie) is known to scam and it's a 14k amount every time (then they tell you they will cut it down to 11k - it's a sales tactic and it's why they try to get you to have them look at your attic. I signed up for quarterly pest control services with Moxie about 5-6 months ago. Recently, I was scheduled for a complimentary termite inspection. The technician inspected the basement (which looked fine) and then went outside to check around the home. He pulled a piece of mulch from a bed that I had just laid two weeks prior and claimed it showed signs of termite damage. He stated that because I live in a new construction home on clay soil, I was especially prone to termites and needed bait stations (quoting me $2,800). He then applied high-pressure sales tactics, including offering $500 off if I signed immediately and even suggesting I call my wife at work to approve the purchase on the spot. Afterward, I researched and found that bagged mulch is treated before packaging, and considering the mulch was brand new, it seemed unlikely to be a valid basis for diagnosing termite activity. I also learned that termite bait station installation typically ranges from about $800 to $1,500, far less than the $2,800 quote I was given. This raised serious concerns about the accuracy and fairness of the recommendation. Because of this, I decided to cancel my service. The cancellation process was unnecessarily difficult. I first emailed customer service, but received no response. After following up three days later, I was told by text at 6:07pm that I would need to call an account manager during business hours. When I finally reached the account manager, it took over 10 minutes of repeatedly stating I wanted to cancel before they agreed. I was informed I'd need to pay 80% of the remaining contract value to exit. In the end, I had to pay $270 just to discontinue future service. Overall, my experience left me with concerns about high-pressure sales tactics, inflated pricing, and cancellation hurdles. While the routine pest control itself was fine, the termite inspection and cancellation process eroded my trust, and I would not recommend this company based on my experience. read more

The service was terrible, I have on my Ring doorbell camera they were here for 7 minutes recently on a quarterly "spray". 156$ dollars. My house isn't small lol. The kicker of the scammy service is if you do happen to see one of their workers they bombard you with their list of overpriced products "that only they make specially" And try to box you into agreeing. Good sales persons very misleading or lied; terrible delivery. Only reason we started was to remove moles/voles in the yard, not just drive them to a neighbor's. Actual removal. Complete failure to remove pests as requested and when confronted about failure, they refused to resolve. Early termination fee applied, gladly paid to get rid of this terrible service. read more

I would NOT recommend Moxie pest to anyone. They overcharge for services and use scare tactics to provide additional services. They do not inspect the yard for insects. They just come and spray. I have had several technicians comes and respray only to find insects continue to live in my mulch, under rocks after they leave. I was honestly surprised with the whole experience. I'm not a person that listens to door to door info/sale pitches. I had heard several negative reviews from local neighbors. I had ants so bad I was going to call someone or company to come and spray the house. That very day a sales man from this Company knocked on my door and the man was pleasant and the numbers were worth the try to do something about the ants. 2 days later..... I'm seeing less than 10 a day when I was killing hundreds a day! They didn't even have to go inside my home. They treated the outside of the home and my full yards. Over a month later... I don't even see 1 day. I usually don't make reviews like this but I was told not to use this company for many reasons but I did anyways. Best decision ever! Now I have a year contract with them. Beware!!! This company is a bait and switch. We had a salesman come to our door to sell us on using Joshua's Pest control. The salesman was super friendly almost like your friend. He said he was helping his brother get started in a business and he would love it if we give his brother a chance. The salesman said that the normal cost would be $300, however they would do our service for $99 to get their business started and to show us how good they would be. He showed me the bill on his tablet of $99.00 ask me to give him a credit card for payment. I told him that due to our travel we might not always want quarterly. He stated no problem I could cancel anytime. At no time did he tell me that we were locked in for year contract. He emailed me the bill of $99.00 and nothing else. Never received a contract. Fast forward to September I called to cancel my September service. I spoke to someone in Dallas. They are not a local company. He said he canceled my appointment and service. I received an email that my service was canceled. The next day I received another email stating I needed to contact them to finalize my cancellation. This guy said that they canceled my subscription and were charging me $444.00 for the rest of the year's appointments. I tried to tell him what the salesman stated and he didn't care. He said I owe the money. I would say beware this company is not honest! I have filed a complaint with BBB and I am going to speak to an attorney about the misleading information. Don't trust or hire this company for termite inspections, it's one big SCAM.  They offered me a free termite inspection.  Jayme came out to perform the inspection. It consisted of inspecting the space between 3 floor joists in the unfinished portion of my basement with a flashlight until he found an anomaly on one floor joist, and without inspecting it closer he made the presumption that it was termite tunnels. He said they were probably getting in thru a small crack in the foundation, which he pointed out to me.  At which point the inspection was over.  He looked between 3 floor joist, not the whole house to determine the severity of the infestation.  Then we went and discussed the different remedies they offer. He started with the most expensive remedy which was around $13K and consisted of drilling holes in my foundation and putting in termite stations.  Then he went into the second remedy which consisted of placing termite stations in the ground around my house. This would cost about $3600.  He said this remedy would be the one he recommended, he didn't think the infestation was bad enough to warrant the $13K remedy. I selected the cheaper option. First of all, how would he know severity from looking in between 3 floor joist, when he did not assess the whole house to determine the severity of the infestation.  And second, he presented the more expensive option first and then the less expensive option second to make me feel like I was getting a deal, what a SCAM.  Last week I finally had time to get up there and investigate the termite tunnels he had pointed out, and it turns out they were not termite tunnels it was just a little dirt on the joist. So I called them and complained, the person I talked to said they would have someone from management call me.  Finally, a manager called me we talked about the situation for about 30 minutes he finally agreed to send another inspector out and perform another inspection, and that someone should be contacting me in the next few days to schedule. On Friday October 3rd I text Cameron and told him nobody has contacted me to schedule yet. He informed me he was working with one of his supervisors. On October 8th I texted Cameron and informed still no one had contacted me. I have not gotten a reply from him. So I ended up paying $3600 for termite stations and I didn't even have termites.  What kind of a SCAM is this company running.  I ended up removing the stations because I did't want the to attract termites. read more

I would NOT recommend Moxie pest to anyone. They are dishonest and charged me $500 without any notice other than a text saying a technician would be in the area. and that day was Labor Day!! This being an unpl expense cost me over $500 in bank fees. I heard back from the company via text that they would issue a refund and then work out a payment plan. I never heard from them and two weeks have passed. I reached out to them they then said that they would only refund 100 of the dollars and schedule a payment plan for that. Which would not be helpful at all. Also they told me that they would have a supervisor call me back and they did not. I then received a call later that night from a sales person wanting to come out to schedule a pest inspection and when I asked him if he was serious, I explained the situation and he offered to get me a manager. He left me on hold for 30 minutes and no one ever picked up the phone. They have still not called me back. They took $500 without my permission. And left me in serious financial despair. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I'm reporting to the Better Business Bureau. read more

First treatment was odorless and no impact on spiders. Water. Immediate texts for quarterly followup. When you call national hqs in Texas, lady reads a scripted msg, first treatment "only scares the spiders out of the nest". Seriously. I have used Joshua's Pest control for abound 2yrs now. I almost left them for another service, but they were able to win my business back. Anytime I've had a concern they have worked quickly to make it right. While I have read less than favorable reviews, I can honestly say those were not my experiences. If there where bugs anytime between my scheduled appointment, someone came out and took care of it. I priced out and doing my own search of the Attic issues, they were the best price for what I required. read more

I signing a 4 service contract, resulting in 4 charges before I could cancel without penalty. We where unsatisfied with the service due to it not resolving the mite problem in our yard. When I called to cancel I was told I would be charged a early cancelation fee even though we fulfilled what we agreed to. The service rep (Victoria) was slimy and manipulative trying to coerce us into not cancelling. It was so upsetting that I would rather pay a penalty then to continue to do business with Joshua's. He said all these great and wonderful things and made it sound like I would be getting a really good service for a decent price. He was having some "issues" with his iPad so I wasn't able to fully read the entire contract (this mistake is on me) but he assured me of what it actually said. Long story short, the service ai thought I was getting isn't what I was told, and now I've already had to pay more for than I expected. I tried to cancel, but was told I had to pay 80% of the remaining contract to get out of it. Very frustrating, and it feels very much like it was all a bait and switch sales tactic. I decided to go with Joshua's for quarterly pest treatment. I've now had 3 encounters with the staff and everyone has been so professional and so friendly. Usually in summer I notice ants and silverfish but since we started using Joshua's I haven't noticed either of them at all. Each time a technician has come they let me know exactly what they're doing and are very willing to answer questions. I would highly recommend using Joshua's! read more

Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing good about this company. Every time they come to do our service, they try to get away with not doing the 30' perimeter. I call them and have to argue with them even though I have them on video. They continually threaten that you have to pay to get out of your contract with them even though they do not provide the service.. Go anywhere else but here. Horrible customer service. Worst customer service ever! Service technician only treated the front half of the outside of my house. Was forced to finish contract or pay a $200 cancellation fee. Finish contract and cancelled. Had to speak to 3 different managers to get it cancelled. Then, three months later they charged me again and refused to cancel our account.
