The West Edmonton mall is huge, lots of great shops along with lots of nice restaurants. We chose Moxie because the menu was varied so we could accommodate our different palates . Our food was delicious as you can see. Our server was adorable and very friendly. They have a great bar with several drink specials along with a nice happy hour menu. Big restaurant, nice restrooms. They were fast at getting out our order however we were there when they first opened and it got busy for lunch. I saw plenty of staff. I got the mixed green salad with lots of cucumbers, quinoa, tomatoes, avocado and spring mix greens. I added the tofu and the light vinaigrette dressing was delicious. read more

Moxies in West Ed has a great exterior set up and a surprising amount of tables once you get inside. It presents like more than a chain restaurant, but unfortunately the food does not. It's reliable, but nothing super special, exciting, or different. It's fairly busy and our waiter was very nice. The fries tasted like they'd been cooked in old oil and the truffle was over used, to the point that two of us stopped eating them. The kiddo liked her pasta meal. I loved my salad, though admittedly chopping your own head of lettuce on a plate was harder than I thought to keep it from falling everywhere. It presented beautiful and tasted good, but was messy. I visited this location with my girlfriends on the weekend. It was before lunch so the restaurant was quiet. It was the weirdest combination of lots of service but not great service. Our server seemed unaware that we were there at first, and sort of seemed checked out. Our food and drinks came quickly. The food was fine, kind of underwhelming. There's a lot of vegan options, but I found myself kind of searching for a non vegan option that sounded good. With all the choices on Bourbon Street I'm in no rush to return here. read more

Never going back to Moxies ever. My family and I went to eat here for dinner. We ordered hot wings, the French Dip, and blackened Mahi mahi. 3-4 hours after eating there, my Dad experienced severe food poisoning from the hot wings. Constantly throwing up, gagging, and just endless horrific fluid coming from his mouth. Never and I say never order hot wings at this location the amount of stomach pain and vomiting my Dad is experiencing is just terrible. I am seriously disappointed with the lack of health precautions taken at this "high end" restaurant. As of right now I'm sitting here with my Mom juggling the water and napkins to my dad while he's aggressively throwing up. I don't even want gift cards in compensation for this. Next we shared a small Caesar and he had a half nachos both of which were great but way overpriced. $25 for the half nachos was a bit much. I had the Black Bean Tacos. There was a weird flavour that I couldn't place until I noticed that there was beyond burger in with the black beans. I highly recommend, taking the beyond meat out of these tacos and simply having the beans. It would be amazing! I would order these again and again. I must say something about the service. Being located in West Edmonton mall, it is always busy here but the way the tables are laid out you can still have a private conversation with your friends and family. If you don't get a table on the main level, you need to climb a few stairs to get upstairs so if you have mobility issues that would be something to consider. The menu has lots of choices from appetizers, steak, chicken and fish entrees, burgers and handhelds, pizza, pasta and salads. Very hard to choose. There's happy hour specials as well as daily specials. LOVE the bellinis here, special price of $5.50! I had the chicken and ribs which came with roasted potatoes and coleslaw but the coleslaw was very salty!! I have never tasted salty coleslaw so not sure what happened in the kitchen! It was so salty it couldn't be eaten, I got my husband and daughter try it out too. I told our server who then offered me a side Caesar salad instead. The chicken was a flattened breast but spiced right and not dry, ribs were okay. My husband's sirloin steak was pink just how he wanted it and came with beets, green veggies and a baked potato. My daughter's Thai red curry with chicken was a bit small and the chicken was an extra cost so a little pricey. Wouldn't order it again. Came here to see if the steak is any different from the other location nearby. Parking is available all around the shopping mall. This location is a bit unique for 2 reasons: 1) most of the restaurant is raised for some reason. You have to go up a flight of stairs. They even have a mini-elevator in here for the wheelchairs. 2) compared to other locations, the lighting here was a bit too dim. So dim that my group had trouble reading our menus. I resorted to using the flash on my smartphone. Service was professional, but a bit lacking as the layout probably prevents the staff from having a good view of all the tables. We had to wave down another server to fetch ours. Sweet chili chicken - reminded me of sweet and sour pork in terms of the sauce. Tasty,but the portion was tiny (almost bite-sized). Served with fries. Calamari - again, super tiny portion for $11. Top sirloin - surprisingly chewy, borderline rubbery. I'm not sure if this is because I ordered "blue rare" though, so I won't fault the restaurant on this one. When they said rice, I thought they meant rice pilaf, but nope, it was a pile of plain white rice, just like what you'd find in a Chinese food court. The vegetables were quite tasty. We came here on bourbon street after a day of roaming the mall. We weren't starving so we just ordered appetizers to share. There was no wait to be seated and the hostess seated us immediately. Our server was friendly and prompt and checked back a couple times. He seemed busy so I didn't request lime wedges when it was forgotten with my water. The yam fries with garlic dip was by far the best appie. The dry ribs weren't very flavourful and the tuna poke was missing some zest like lime or lemon. I was really not impressed with this Moxie's location. Come to think about it, every Moxie's I've been to has never really delivered the full deal. I had the salmon wrap on naan as well, but I found it frustrating how it kept falling apart on me. The salmon was dry, and I wasn't able to finish it because I couldn't swallow anymore. Moxie's has a classy and chic atmosphere about it, but I find that that's all it is -- a nice place to sit while eating generic over-priced food. Sure, they have a tv screen in the bathroom, but what good is that if you're not enjoying your meal? I have had their cheese and broccoli soup before, and their beef dip isn't bad either, although these were at another location. If you're looking for a classy alternative to Sherlock Holmes, The Old Spaghetti Factory and Hotter's, all of which are located on the colourful New Orlean's drag, Moxie's has a more upscale feel, with dark hardwood flooring, luxury booths and screens between many of the tables for privacy, mood lighting, red sexy accents and a couple of fireplaces - though on closer look the fires are fake and kinda cheesy looking. We sat in a spacious booth and ordered the Moxie's Big Life beer on tap. It's their own micro-brew, produced for them by Big Rock. It was a bargain at $3.99 a pint on a Monday night. For snacks with ate appetizers: the asiago garlic fries with course gourmet salt (a special holiday menu item) and the popular sirloin salad with goat cheese and sweet chili dressing, cooked perfectly. The salad came with their signature banana bread, better than grandma's my dining partner coveted. The music was a pleasant mix of softer dance tunes and the service was friendly and unrushed, even though we were there 'til last call, 11 p.m. on a Monday. read more

Wow, what an outstanding experience! To start with the staff is very, very good. I was escorted in by an off duty hostess named Caralee who is perhaps the best hostess I've seen since the opening of the Panama Canal! And our Server, Lindsay was so professional, gregarious and vivacious, she puts the likes of Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lawrence to shame. Her beauty was only surpassed by her competence. However, she did forget to bring coffee with my dessert. I think she did it on purpose just to show that she's human. Which made her even more likeable. And the food is soooo good. To begin, there were 5 staff at the front host/hostess desk conversing with each other. There was no one in front of my group of 5 then they finally helped us after a couple minutes. Our server seated us in the back corner in an empty restaurant which made us feel like we were to be hidden or "out of the way". Two of the drinks that were ordered were watered down. The replacement drinks took awhile to come back to our table and our food arrived before the drinks. There was plenty of time to have the replacement drinks served before the food arrived. After our food was served our server did not come to ask how our food was. We let him know we had a birthday and he said "oh, I guess I can bring a brownie". There was an immense amount of time that passed for the dessert to to come to our table and we only got the bills when we left our table to be served at the front to pay our bills. Our server had said he had worked at this establishment for 8 years which is really concerning. Ruined our evening and my friends birthday. We will never return. read more

Looking for a place for lunch or dinner in between your shopping? Moxie's has a large menu to meet the tastes of guests. We arrived at 5PM on a weekday to find it wasn't too busy, yet. We were asked if we wanted to sit in the lounge but opted for the restaurant. I can understand why after we were seated in a booth. Across the way was a family with 4 children. I don't mind there were tables with children but misbehaved children aren't the most pleasant when you are trying to enjoy your meal. But not the restaurant's fault and we made the best of our time. The server was efficient and she did keep us waiting a little while to take our order but she refilled our drinks, checked on us to see how we were enjoying our food, and was around when needed. Having been to Moxie's numerous times over the years, there are a few items I am a fan of including the grilled salmon on naan. I had it with a Caesar salad light on the dressing and good number of croutons. The salmon wasn't as large a portion as I've had in the past but still cooked so it was flaky. I'm glad they didn't load the sauce on and the sandwich tasted light with the tomato and lettuce. We shared the bite of brownie which was enough dessert with the ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and brownie. If you are too full from dinner but can't resist the brownie, order the smaller portion. I think it's $3 and it left me satisfied. Great experience and would be back but not during peak times. When we left a line was starting to form of families. Maybe we'll try the lounge next time. read more

Not overly impressed. I've been to other Moxies locations and usually it does exactly what it says on the tin. This time... we waited quite a while for a server despite it being a quiet Monday night, then they messed up our dinner order so we had to wait longer. We both ordered medium rare steaks however one of us got medium and one got rare. The meal came it was good. The steak was nice, so was the seasonal veg... but I needed a steak knife to cut the baked potato. We were sat in the dining area near the front door and right behind the waitress station, great to hear the cutlery being chucked in a drawer. The drinks were nice, old fashioned comes with a cool big ice cube and the frozen vodka soda comes in a lovely metal cup (that I want for the house). Not sure if I'll be back. read more

Not only the taste of the food, the customer service is terrible, the female servers are unfriendly. They put (throw) the forks and knifes on the table without napkins under it. So Moxie's is not really a bad place. It's the kind of place I'd give 3-4 stars to. They've got a predictable line-up of appies, drinks and food, without an attempt to hide their similarity to Earls and the long list of others. I've been to this location twice and on both occasions had an average experience. The first time, the waitress was completely oblivious of our existence and it took us quite a bit of time, after being seated, to get someone to check on what it is we'd like to get. The second time around our waiter was pretty nice and all. Unfortunately, the honey glazed salmon (or is it maple?) was pretty average. It's a nice concept, but it was reasonably overcooked. I would have totally disregarded my first experience had the food been really awesome the second time 'round. The drinks are decent, the price is comparable to its clones and if I were asked to choose between Earls and Moxie's - Moxie's would win. I like that the waitresses seem to have more substance here, for instance. read more

I've been to Moxie's on bourbon street in west Edmonton mall on numerous occasions. The service is always fast, and the servers are always friendly. In my most recent visit I had the 3 dip med bread and the parmesan chicken sandwich with red pepper sauce, crispy prosciutto, and arugula. The med bread is always delicious. It comes with a house made fresh salsa with cilantro which has just the right amount of heat. The garlic dip is a cream cheese base and is to die for. It also comes with a delicious basil mayo. The only less than satisfactory comment I have regarding the med bread is the change in portion size. During my last two visits I noticed the portion size of the actual bread was significantly smaller that it used to be. The Parmesan chicken sandwich is also delicious. The sandwich comes with salad, soup, or fries. If you're ordering the fries or soup you'll likely have to take half the sandwich home, which isn't a problem because this sandwich is even better left over and reheated in the oven. I also often go for drinks as their G.T drink is phenomenal. (Moxie's version of a gin and tonic) Gin muddled with lime leaves, topped with tonic and lime slush. It's refreshing and ridiculously delicious! It's also the drink on special of Friday's. Equally good is Moxie's frozen vodka soda, this drink is similar to the G.T only replace the tonic and gin with vodka and soda water. Both drinks are definitely worth making a special trip for. :) read more

Tried Moxie's for the first time over lunch, my wife and I both had burgers, I believe in "Judge a restaurant by its burgers". It's definitely not the best in Edmonton, but it passes. The burgers come with a portion of French Fries, they tasted bad, as if they were fried a day before. The other thing I didn't like about the restaurant is that it gives you the sense of "Please finish your food as fast as you can and leave", it's not one of those restaurants that you just want to lay back and relax after a meal before heading out. When I was checking out Moxies' menu, at first glance I thought it said that their steaks are cut from "ass." I thought, "Wow, that's so typical Alberta cowboy hat wearing, big-truck driving directness." It didn't seem to fit with the pseudo-cosmopolitan, classy, chic atmosphere that Moxie's tries to put across though. Then I realized that it actually said "aaa" as in "aaa" grain fed alberta beef. Not "ass." Honest mistake. So anyway, I had the 10 oz Madagascar Peppercorn New York that comes topped with a green brandy butter sauce. Moxie's gives you a choice of garlic mashed potatoes or a stuffed baked potato to go with your steak. I chose the mashed. The food was awesome. The steak was exactly how I asked for it to be cooked and made me proud to be an omnivore. I've been to Moxie's in the past and their steaks have always been good. They have all the other pub food staples too like burgers, pizza, seafood, and pasta. They even have a kids menu. Why anyone would bring children to Moxie's is beyond me but there's a menu for them. It was early on a Saturday evening when we went there so it was crazy-busy. They don't take reservations on the weekends so expect a wait. They gave us a vibrating blue frisbee to carry around that lights up when a table becomes available. It took thirty minutes. Our waitress was a little slow at first. When she came by to take our order we asked for another minute to decide. She gave us twenty. She improved over the course of the evening though. That's the only thing bad I can say about the place. The restaurant is noisy and fast paced which isn't really my thing but it's bearable. I know there are a lot of negative reviews here but we didn't have any of the horrible experiences that some of the other reviewers had. Moxie is always a busy place no matter what time you go. My friend and I decided to have lunch here before we hit the stores. I'm not sure if Moxie is trying to save on electricity, because the place was really dim and I had to put the menu up to my eyeballs to see what to order. I've pretty much tried most of the food on the menu and there's nothing that stood out that I wanted to eat again. I usually order from the Sandwich & More section for lunch and was going to settle for something on there until I saw a..... new menu. It was the Holiday Feature Menu and chef Alex Chen had comprised a few interesting dishes. My friend just found out that he is allergic to wheat so he can't eat pasta which is his favorite. I felt so bad for him, but I love pasta and decided to order the Rigatoni. The pasta was drenching in olive oil so much that it was running down my chin and I didn't realize it until my friend pointed it out after I finished eatting. The pasta was ok. My friend had the Asian Chopped Salad. He said the salad was good. Moxie has really creative food titles and it's very intriguing to find out how it taste like. The server was attentive and checked up on us regularly. I don't know, but I just find Moxie to be really normal and the servers are really mechanical. I don't even bother trying to connect and letting them know how I genuinely feel about my food. There's no interpersonal interation, the noise level is loud and it's a fast pace atmosphere. You can't really relax and enjoy yourself here. Just eat your meal, use the somewhat organized and clean bathroom, pay your bill and get out of there. LOL read more

This moxies in the mall does not do a good job representing the moxies brand. The greeters are sub par for a moxies. Should you be hired as a hostess, you should need to have some interpersonal skills. We ordered a steak sandwich which was suppose to be medium and showed up medium well. We also ordered pasta which came with some raw noodles. Our server was a middle age female who seemed more pre occupied with everything else but us. She checked in with us to see how things were going half way through my plate being finished, at this point te pasta had been sitting there for 10 minutes not being eaten due to it's poor quality. We shared my steak sandwhich which left us both half full and needing more food after our visit. They gave us the option to get us new pasta but I elected to get it chopped off my bill and get the heck put of there. What a bad experience! 2 thumbs way down! read more

This is my favourite restaurant to go to on Bourbon Street. Amazing experience every time we go. Last visit was for lunch on October 7/19. The host was very polite and engaging, our server Allan was very informative, the chef brought our food to our table, and the nice lady manager even checked in with us to see how we were enjoying the food. When we went there they suggested us to go to the lounge but we weren't old enough so we waited. The wait for a table took around 10 minutes but that is understandable since it is a Friday night. Moxie's attempts to sell its customers atmosphere rather than appealing food. Don't get me wrong -- the food is not bad, but it isn't great either. It has a lot of standard fare you would expect in this style of restaurant: burgers, pastas, salads, appetizers. Prices are mid to high in range - like I said before, you're basically paying for the privilege of being seen there. When I head to Moxie's, I typically have a plain hamburger or the salmon burger. Both are well-made and flavourful, but again, nothing to write home about. So, if you happen to be in the west end and want to check out Moxie's, go for it -- perhaps the hip surroundings will make it worthwhile. read more

Went here around 5pm yesterday, got in quickly which was nice since my son was starving (although it took awhile to get our food..) Our server was awful, she listened to everyone else's orders but didn't seem to want to listen to me. I asked for a kids tomato pasta with some grilled chicken on the side for my son and what he ended up with was some adult sized alfredo dish wish shredded chicken... and never got a dessert I would shared the pasta with him but I am a wheat allergy. So I was feeing a little closed in from all the studying that I've been doing for finals. I really wanted to do something, go somewhere so I called up my guy, Curtis, and we decided to hit up West Edmonton Mall. I know what you must be thinking WEM in December; you must be crazy! But the mall wasn't too bad and we decided to hit up Moxie's. I've been to Moxie's but I haven't been to that location before. It was my first time ;) Anyways the place was boomin' with people and we decided to sit out on the indoor patio to do some people watching while we waited. It was so nice and warm... must have been the heating lamps that were located above us. It was really quite nice... it felt like a nice summer day instead of a really cold Edmonton winter night. I love chicken burgers so that's what I got; the Ranch-house Chicken Burger with a piece of pan seared chicken breast, bacon, havarti cheese, ranch sauce and BBQ sauce and of course a burger is not complete without fries. Well I have to say my burger was great! Even the bun was good... it wasn't hard and overly toasted to the point were you could break a tooth trying to consume it. No, it was perfect. Oh and the fries... they were to die for. Curtis couldn't help himself and gobbled them down (men!). Well Curtis was in the mood for something "lighter", unlike me: burger and fries all the way! He ordered the Top Sirloin Steak Salad with Goat Cheese. Boy did it ever look good. The sirloin steak was medium-rare and according to Curtis it was cooked perfectly. The salad dressing surprised him. It was sweet at first and then the spice hit him... he said it was amazing. The salad was a mix of greens, tomatoes and yes, goat cheese. To top it all off the dish came with a side of banana bred. Oh my God was the banana bread delicious. I have to say it was better than mamma's (don't tell her that!). We didn't have drinks, just some ice tea, which was delightful. We were just way to full to order dessert. Yes, the man who ordered the salad was too stuffed to order more yummy food!
