This may be the craziest worst hotel we've stayed in a long time. You arrived we told initially we couldn't park at the hotel because we didn't reserve a spot first. We were never prompted reserve a parking spot when booking. They were working on it when I was there though. The service is what kept this from being higher rated for me. The hotel vibe is what you come for. It's fun and youthful and great for a girls' trip. The room was incredibly comfortable, both the bed and the temperature. It was extremely clean and the staff was nice. I loved the lobby/common area and the "backyard" was a great place for hanging out. You'll never go hungry with 24/7 Zombie Taco in the lobby. The location was also great right on The Drag with lots of fun shops and bars in walking distance. That's not to say there weren't cons, however. Prepare to pay $39/night for parking in the garage. I'm not mad about it in the sense that it was good, secure parking, but I didn't see anything that alluded to this cost when booking the room. The hotel was minimalist. There were no closets and no in-room coffee maker, though there was free coffee in the mornings if you wanted to venture down to the bar. I don't know if we needed to pay extra or if this is the norm, but we got no housekeeping during our stay. Overall the pros outweighed the cons, just be aware of these caveats and I think you'll enjoy your stay here. read more

Such a fun vibrant upbeat trendy hotel. We came down from Dallas to spend the weekend here for my friends birthday. From the moment we walked in the staff was so friendly and informative. The drinks were great behind the bar. The room though small was very cozy and hip. The bed was very comfortable and the view we had was limited but very nice. One employee that stood out at the Moxy was Demetrious. I meant Demetrious behind the bar. He went above and beyond to point us in the right direction once we are ready to depart the hotel for more adventures. He was very informative and knowledgeable and his customer service was second to none. If you ever come visit the Moxy I suggest you ask for Demetrious for any questions or needed recommendations you may have. read more

I have stayed at various Moxys all around the US, and this one was a little interesting.I called the Marriott to set my reservation for a one night stay. Once we got there and say told me we couldn't park in the parking structure as they have a limited amount of parking, and they require you to pay for a package to park there. When I requested to pay the package they said they no longer had any available spots. This was a bit frustrating as we had to move our car to another parking structure. All parking is paid which was another frustrating part. The ladies at the front were fairly nice, but I didn't feel that they went above and beyond once I told them that Marriott never offered me anything regarding a bundle package for parking. The rooms were very clean, and the atmosphere at the hotel in general is very nice. When checking out there was a room in the front that was very messy with Halloween stuff, but aside from that the location in place was really nice. read more

Well, it's a modern, unique place. The interior design was nice. The staff was friendly. I respect their professionalism. I wasn't expecting to live on the 2nd floor though. That means I hear all the club and bars music from the 1st floor. The hotel needs better sound insulation. Don't worry. Even with the earplugs, you can still party along the music till 2 am. So if you intend to party like an animal, this is the right place. But if you want to sleep like regular travelers, do yourself a favor and find another hotel. Also, the place is not very clean. At Moxy Austin, expect ... - to pay $45/night for parking - to hear a lot of housekeeping, walking, and pet noises from nearby rooms - to feel a lot of humidity in your room after showering, because the shower is open to the room (no fan) - to receive few in-room amenities: no coffee, no lotion, no cotton swabs, etc. After parking and taxes, this place is over $300 a night! read more

Stayed here before and through the entirety of Winter Storm 2021, and what can I say about this Moxy Crew (Koryn, et al.)? Way to stay flexible, agile, responsive, and just straight up awesome through a series of VERY challenging circumstances (COVID-19 pandemic, Winter Storm 2021 with accompanying City of Austin city-wide loss of water pressure and boil water notice, etc.). Equally awesome would be the Zombie Taco team on the lobby level -- going above and beyond to serve up insane food under the aforementioned ridiculous conditions. Had the pleasure of enjoying the Moxy during our stay in Austin, and enjoyed every moment of it. The place is quite hip and modern, with an interactive outdoor area perfect for Kodak moments. The bar in the lobby as well as a 24 hour taco stop made the trip even more enjoyable- this is probably one of the first times we've spent most of our time in the hotel on a trip. One thing to note is that this hotel is located right next to a college, so expect to see a lot of youngings during your stay. read more

I booked the hotel for a weekend visit to Austin. I thought the hotel was great for its value. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel has a very kitsch aesthetic meant to appeal to younger folks that I felt like they were almost too eager to represent hahaha. The hotel definitely has its target demographic (young people) given its location across from UT Austin and checking in at a bar but I would recommend the hotel to people of all ages. The location of the hotel is great and it was nice that the hotel just opened so that the amenities are new. Unfortunately can't comment on the bar scene or restaurant but the hotel lobby and patio area seemed like fun places to hangout. My only complaint was that the gym could have used clean towels. Overall, if I needed a hotel to stay in West Campus, I would recommend this place. read more

This hotel was a lifesaver on my visit to Austin they immediately were able to book my mom and I N after we had a terrible experience at the la quinta. We were greeted with a gift bag of goodies for my birthday and the ladies were so nice they gave me extra chips for the bar And a whole entire present with a hand written 21 birthday card. What gets better than that! The whole atmosphere is super fun it is super millennial heads up but that's because we are down the street from the University! Totally recommend!!! Great location with a great bar , vibe with a friendly staff. Second time staying here in the last 2 months. 3 stars on this visit due to an unfriendly check in hostess who charged $20 for a 2pm check in and didn't bother to check that I was a lifelong platinum member . When I questioned the $20 check in - she said it was a downtown Austin rule since March 2022 ( news to me ) and lucky we weren't getting charged $60 like the other Marriott hotels. Finally she offered the $10 food and drink chips when I asked about the platinum membership- with no explanation or apology ...very uncomfortable check in experience.... Oh well read more

A really cool spot to get a drink near campus if you're looking for something a little more sophisticated than a sports bar or pub. Moxy has a great interior and outdoor seating perfect for studying during the day or grabbing a drink with friends at night. They always have some drink deal going on so make sure to ask a hostess when you walk in. Drinks are reasonably priced too. This is such a cool hotel and the staff make it way cooler. They are so attentive and friendly. We had a slight technical delay checking in and they were so apologetic - very professional. The worst hotel I have ever visited. The shower is right next to the bed. Like the glass tot he shower is 2 feet from the bed. The sink is in the room like I'm in a dorm room. There is no parking for the hotel so you have to pay to park on the street. The staff was rude and looked at us like we were crazy when we asked where to park. There is no closet. The room we reserved was not available. So she moved us to a lesser room. It was the worst experience I've ever had. And the walls were thin and you can hear the street. The place is very modern, they have a late night bar and a 24 hour taco store down stairs. They even offer you a free cocktail when you arrive. But if you're not in college or here for the bar, I would not recommend staying at the hotel. The rooms are unbelievably small, I barely had room to even place my suitcase. There's no closet,safe, or mini fridge. The shower is also in the middle of the room not in the restroom like normal. WTF. To put the cherry on top, the walls are literally paper thin. The person upstairs was playing music and i could understand every single thing the song said also my neighbors were having conversations and I could hear every word said. I paid around $600 for 2 nights (granted it's spring break). There's a lot better options for the price. read more

Newer hotel with a cool vibe, hip decor and a nice bar area with a taco stand right there. The staff was very friendly and helpful but our room was noisy-- someone above us apparently was dragging heavy furniture around at 3 a.m. -- and the pillows were extremely uncomfortable. We did not sleep well. We thought the tacos were pretty good but not quite up to Austin standards. For such a new hotel in such a forward-looking city, we were surprised and disappointed to find no EV chargers in the tiny parking garage. What a solid stay, right in the thick of UT Austin! The Moxy has a fun vibe and the staff is awesome. Super friendly always a hello and more than accommodating. The space is fun and funky with lots to do, arcade games inside, table tennis, Jenga, swings, and vibey outdoor courtyard with great seating spaces a late night taco spot and weekend DJ keeping the atmosphere super fun and cool. Happy we stayed! The rooms were also great. The bathroom is more European style with a dedicated WC, separate shower enclosure and the sink open to the room, the layout was actually great. I loved that the curtain fully divided the room on when drawn as we could have full privacy for our family stay. The rooms are really comfortable and the decor was super fitting for Texas! read more

So I'm writing this review so people are aware before deciding to stay here. So on the ground level there is a full on hip-hop club. It's 1 am I'm on the third floor and I can hear the bass. My room is facing the outside area of the club. So the bass isn't super loud but I'm a veteran with ptsd and it's enough to keep my heart racing and keep me from getting any sleep. Gotta get up at 6:30 and drive back to Galveston. Hoping the club closes soon are I don't know how I'm gonna do it. If you are young and a looking to party this place would be awesome you could party at a lively club and come right up to your room. If your someone just looking for a quite place to get some rest who has problems sleeping through noise avoid this one. read more

Rooms are very unique. Mine was similar to a "studio" apartment, if you will. However, I enjoyed my stay here. The service was good & the staff were friendly. One heads up will be parking. Moxy's have a parking garage that you're required to pay for if you wish to park there. If I remember correctly, it was $39 a night. A bit extreme to me, but all the good outweighed the bad! Cute hotel and friendly staff but the night club that goes on outside your window until 1-2 Am is not ideal. Loud yelling and screaming and DJ playing all night. Where do I start with this one? 1st off I am a Marriott groupie. Any city I go I stay at a Marriott establishment. Never have I ever had a horrible experience until now. So we get to the hotel only to find out that there are ONLY 2 levels of parking and it 1st come 1st served, like huh? I basically told if you can find a spot in our garage then you gotta go search for one elsewhere. WTH? Ok, cool. Whatever. THEN we get dressed feeling spicy. Go downstairs to enjoy the nice large patio they have with our own cocktail in hand(Truly hard seltzer) only to be told"I'm sorry you can sit on the patio with that drink) HUH?? Everyone on the patio has a cocktail on their hand. BUT oh I get it I can go to the bar and buy $16(small) tequila and sit on the patio but can't with my own FREE cocktail. Hmmm... Since when did hotels regulate you having your own cocktails?? They haven't. As I said previously I've stayed at many Marriotts much much nicer and never I ever been told I can't have my Truly or any other beverage at the pool, ok the patio, etc. Skip to late night after hanging out. We all come back to our room ready to nose dive into a nice cool bed only to wake and feel like we're being microwaved. The AC would not come on, no matter the temp. So I call to the service desk she sends a tech up. And wallah now it all of a sudden works(we believe they cut it off downstairs) The thermostat is pretty basic so it was most definitely was no user error. Oh also beware they charge a state tax/resort fee which is pretty high an extra $19. Aside from that the pace is very hip, nice decor, they offer a 24 taco bar in the lobby. I personally will NEVER stay here again but if you're a 20 something that is looking for a cool place to stay and snap a ton of selfies. This is the spot for you. read more

I was very impressed with the cleanliness. The decor was fun. We had a delicious blueberry sangria and the designated driver mocktail (strawberry basil lemonade) at the bar. It was great fun playing ping pong, Pac-Man, shuffle ball in the lobby for free. We had the brisket and cheese taquitos from Zombie tacos in the lobby, they were amazingly delicious. read more

Lovely hotel with awesome staff! BUT $39.00 a night for parking just sadly spoilt the stay!

On Friday night (October 29, 2021), I entered the lobby of the hotel which doubles as the hotel's bar, exchanged greetings with the bar staff, proceeded to the back patio and after a few minutes was accosted by a hotel security guard who asked whether I was staying at the hotel and if not then my identification card would have to be scanned! I replied with astonishment that I had never experienced such a requirement at any hotel as I travel often worldwide and see no ground for being singled out in front of all other patrons in the lobby when I had done nothing wrong. The guard stated that "this is a private property" and insisted that I would have to leave which I refused and asked for the police to be called in so that I could properly document the incident which bore the hallmarks of profiling, discrimination and harassment. The hotel "Captain" Ms. Snyder intervened and stated that they check every person upon entry, but there was no guard at the entrance when I entered. After bringing this to her attention, she refused to discipline or take any corrective action toward the security person who was supposed to be at the door, and in fact when the security supervisor appeared and repeated the same "this is a private property" line, she did not correct or solicit any apologies as would have been expected given the insult of a guest, caused by the security's negligence to properly guard the door even if indeed we could believe that Moxy ("White"lodging) is not really engaged in profiling and discrimination under the disguise of a "private property" as it so claims.  For my part, I would never again enter a Moxy hotel but such conduct indeed tarnishes the brand and in fairness to the hotel, I did write to the Marriot customer service and the CEO and board members of "White"lodging first but as none responded, I decided to post this review. read more

This hotel is unlike any I've ever been to. It is very nicely decorated (Industrial/Modern/Western) all mixed into one. I was surprised to see the front desk was actually at the bar, which I thought was cool. Speaking of bar, the drinks there were great, typical of what you'd find around Austin. Lastly, the staff was chill; they'd talk to you as if you were a friend or relative, which I found comforting. It very much leans into the millennial vibe and I wouldn't describe it as a "family" hotel but if you are a young couple or young professional it's the perfect place to getaway in Austin. First off the hotel staff was great! Very friendly and always responded with positive attitudes. Yes the room was small but its great for a traveling RN like me (in town vaccinating under served communities). I actually recommended it to several colleagues after my first night. I have since told them about what my bill looked like after my checkout and have changed their minds. The first room I was given had a lock that didn't work so it was not safe. I'm not from here so I called and booked the hotel. I asked for a final price and was subsequently sent an email. I was very disappointed when I was charged an additional 186 dollars at checkout. For parking. In a tiny parking garage that was clearly overbooked. I had a hard time navigating the lot as there are almost no actual parking spaces. Cars parked over handicapped spots and along the corridors. It's very difficult and they charge 40 a night. They are quick to say you can park outside as if thats a safe realistic, and practical option for multiple days. After explaining all this to the staff the "best they could do" is refund two nights of parking. I had used carsalsemen vibes after that interaction. The managers were right next to me as I explained all of this and said nothing. Good luck to future patrons. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are small and efficient bc it makes even introverts like me go and spend time downstairs where the fun happens. From each detail that makes you smile/laugh (elevator button, wet floor sign, monkeys in the restroom, on and on) you have a manager like Sarah Beaver and staff who are really kind and understand what hospitality does to a traveler's spirit. Behind masks and the lack of hugs in 2020, having sincere people in hospitality is just as healing as any kind of therapy. You could tell Sarah is a good leader and her staff really trust and respect her, as a lot of them are young college kids, and they work really hard, also having to deal with losing prime college year experiences to this pandemic. I heard they pushed through and really served during the snowstorm, with some staff still walking to work! They have a super cute fitness room, a market with hot tacos, and games like ping pong, giant Jenga, and swings in the courtyard. Everyone is laughing and having a great time, feeling comfortable to just relax and play a little, or a lot! I would definitely not only stay here again, but also at any Moxy brand, as this location did a great introduction to witty, smart humor and fun combined, bringing happiness with each detail!
