Me and my husband stayed here for one night and it was great. We got early check in around 1pm and check in isn't until 3pm! They gave us 2 free drink tokens that you can use for wine, beer, or their signature Moxy drink. We chose to get the Moxy drinks and they were sooooo GOOD! We were on the 12th floor. The room was small but had everything we needed for one night. Had a king sized bed with a view of the city and the bathroom was gorgeous! It came with a couple bottles of water and some chocolate which was a nice welcome! The room however does not have a microwave keep that in mind. It didn't bother us. It is 2 floors below the rooftop bar so it was kinda loud around 8pm. We're in our 20s so we didn't care but if prefer a quieter atmosphere I do not suggest to be on such a high floor. The hotel is super nice. Has a seafood restaurant located off the lobby, a bar with great drinks, nice decor that give a warm trendy vibe, games to play in the lobby, and it was a great place to be. We came after we went to lucha rosa (their rooftop bar) just for a quick drink. This place has THE BEST spicy marg I have ever had in my life. 10/10 would recommend. The Moxy Hotel really knows what they're doing. From arrival to departure the folks here treat you like royalty. First of all, they gave us an early check-in when we asked for one. When we arrived they provided us with two free drinks from the bar and a chance to spin their prize wheel which gave us a $10 food voucher to use at the hotel. This was such a nice way to start our stay. The actual room was gorgeous. It's a micro hotel so we anticipated the room would be small but it was designed so well that the bathroom did feel separate from the room. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was really nice, and despite being near the elevator it never got too loud. While waiting for our drinks we played various games in the lobby. There's tons of seating and it's a beautiful space. Even though you're in DC which has tons to do, you want to spend some time in the lobby relaxing with your drink or playing a game, or both. The Moxy is an fun, centrally located and affordable option for staying in DC. Is it one of those hotel rooms where you will sprawl out and relax all day? No. But is is clean, close to everything, and comfortable? Yes. If you are looking for spacious rooms this is NOT the hotel for you. But if you're ok with spending minimal money and being somewhere comfy to rest your head at night, this is the spot. When you check in, you are gifted two bar tokens which is fun. We opted for a King room which had a view of K Street. Thank goodness for the blackout curtains which made it super comfy to sleep since the room was pitch black. As a PSA to my bathroom shy folks, the bathroom is basically a frosted glass box in the entrance of the room and it offers minimal privacy. However, the water pressure in the shower is super great. The room is a bit cramped for two people if you're packing more than a carry on each, but again for the price we couldn't complain. Definitely a great choice for a cheap stay that doesn't feel cheap. read more

Check in with the concierge team was a breeze and the location is close to public transit; they have a great selection of beer wine and cocktails that I must mention the "Moxy" is a custom favorite of mine. Bed bugs! If I could give this zero stars, I would. The room was infested, and I woke up covered in bites. Management did offer an apology and said they cleaned the room but are not reimbursing me for the chlothes I had to dry clean, and the suitcase I had to dispose of. I stayed here for 3 nights and it certainly could have been better. I like the concept of small urban concrete, loft style vibe. The lobby and check-in was awesome! I love that you check-in at the bar. The lobby also has shuffleboard, and other games to play. The second floor has a cool library type space and a conference room, which can host private parties. I got my key and went up to my room, that's when it started going downhill. I had reserved a single bed and when I got to my room, there were bunk beds. I went back down and was told there wasn't any available tonight, but to check back the next day. I am a platinum Marriott member so room type is guaranteed. The next day there was a water drip coming from the ceiling in the bathroom, and my room smelled like second hand smoke, so I asked to switch rooms into a single bed and while they switched rooms for me, it was another bunk bed situation. My second room had a chair and safe, which is something my original room did not have. I'll end my review on a good note, and that is you get drink tokens when you check in and they did give me an extra one for the trouble, so I was able to use them at the bar for drinks. There is also a self-serve, honor system food area toward the back of the first floor which resembles a mini-mart style of food. The staff was nice in every interaction. read more

We'll, let's start with the good! Staff were friendly at check in, and you receive a token for a free drink (limited menu) during your stay, from the bar downstairs. The "lobby" is also cool, and they've got free drip coffee in the morning. Now, the rest. The rooms are tiny, and the only place to hang clothes is on hooks on the wall. Did I say the rooms are TINY? No place to sit (in my room) other than the bed itself. You'll need to move sideways between the bed and the wall to close the blinds. Their rooftop bar is so popular you'll be competing for space in one of the two elevators with the bar crowd. Just not really up to Marriott standards for business travelers, but likely popular and satisfying for a younger party crowd. :) read more

The hotel had an interesting mix of modern/trendy aesthetic and standard quality service. The check in at a bar around a day lounge for the encouragement of socialization. There are board games and things accessible. It has a young people vibe. I think people in their 40s and under will enjoy it. One night, they were playing Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, for example. There are a number of additions. They provided a drink token for a free drink. The bar serves food at night as well. There's a breakfast area with muffins and things plus free coffee in the morning. The upper floor has a lounge with a good bar and good food. The downstairs staff has to give you elevator access to it so not just anyone is there. All for relatively affordable prices. The staff were friendly and made themselves available. The room was clean with an industrial aesthetic. One of the coolest hotels I've been in. Though it was small, I've been in smaller hotels in the same sized cities before. There was a small round table that folded and hanged for when you wanted to use it and put it away for more room. Room service was consistent. The location being in the middle of downtown made it easy to walk and access the metro easily to go around town. read more

This hotel was a really neat experience. I appreciated the complimentary cocktail token they offer for use in their bar area. They do have breakfast available, but it's to order and not included. The telephone in the room tells bedtime stories! The music selection in the lobby is great. This hotel definitely caters to a younger crowd, but there were people of all ages present. Currently sitting at the bar and I'm annoyed...i Came in for drinks with my partner to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The waitress with the rainbow colored wig was very rude from the start of the interaction. Absolutely No greeting, very short tempered and just all around rude. Basically gave "what do you want energy" I went to grab a menu to LOOK at the food options (not even to eat just because I'm curious and as a follow yelper I wanted to upload an updated menu. As well as just wanted to know for future visits. We have a dinner reservation after this so I'm not even trying to eat) before I could even TOUCH the menu she snakily replied "We're not serving food anymore!" It rubbed me the wrong way. It's a way to say "no" without being rude. Which is a shame because I live in the area and have been saying I wanted to visit this property because it's always packed and seemed lit. I recently stayed at this hotel this past weekend and It was an awful experience. I found a dead spider on the edge of the bed frame upon entering the room the first time to another spider crawling on me in bed!!! There was also no hot water in the shower. I complained to the front desk and they said it'd be taken care of asap( which it was not). This is not a quality hotel and I truly regret staying here to the point I checked out at 4am instead of staying my entire stay. read more

The room is extra small, there is no room for two people to walk around without bumping accident. There is absolutely no storage places for clothes and suits cases for more than one night stay. Only several hooks with hungers for clothes on the wall. There is no privacy for bath room and shower. The cleaning service never comes for 4 night stay except for the second day around 7 pm. If you're looking for a hotel with a hip, cool, young vibe then THIS is your place! The hotel definitely caters to the 20's and 30's crowd, with its decor, music, young customers and staff. Nice outdoor seating area, cool lounge areas located up and downstairs, and there are no shortage of games to play here. There was also a DJ there on Sunday afternoon playing music while we were checking in. The Room: We had a corner room which was very nice and spacious. Our other family had a king bedroom also, but was a very small room with a bed really close to the window. Nice bathroom and shower with sliding frosted glass doors for medium privacy, and a big screen tv. Dislikes: I'm in the 50+ club so this crowd was nice but walking in seeing people splayed on the couches sleeping in the middle of the day was a bit off putting. I felt uneasy about the young blonde female bartender who made us our drinks on Sunday night (9/25/22, 11pm), because she was clearly under the influence of something, and her eyes could not focus on us to save her life, and everyone in my party could clearly see it. She was slurring her words, her eyes were closing as she talked to us, and I felt embarrassed for her, and thought it was not a good look for the establishment. There was also another dark haired woman behind the counter arguing with a customer loudly, and I couldn't tell if they were playing or serious, I was uncomfortable witnessing it. Bottom line: If you are looking to be around a Young crowd, in a nice hotel, and don't mind a little noise, then I highly recommend this place! read more

I regret to share that my recent encounter at the Moxy Hotel was marred by a deeply uncomfortable and racially insensitive experience. Upon being on the 2nd floor library that was a place for people to get work done or have meetings. I was subjected to unfair treatment, which made me feel unwelcome and disrespected. I expected basic courtesy and respect, but this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and hurt. I understand having rules set in place but It needs to be clear on what those rules are so people do not feel targeted.I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and addresses any staff training or policies that could contribute to these issues. Racism has no place in hospitality. While I appreciate the hotel's amenities and general ambiance, I cannot overlook the discriminatory experience I faced. I urge management to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all everyone moving forward. read more

I'm a BOOMER lol. Didn't expect the experience (no closets but pegs, ironing board in the hallway, small rooms, etc.). They do send you a warning email and offer to book you elsewhere if it isn't for you but all the hotels in the area were fully booked so no choice. Was there on business and took the wife with me. With that said the main Bar, Rooftop Bar, and the Restaurant were all excellent and the Service simply superb! But if you are over 40 you might consider staying somewhere else. read more

Moxy maintains a fun attitude. The front desk service was helpful and present when you needed them. The decor is definitely on the hipster side (I may have been one of the oldest guests lol). Nice "library" area that was both quiet and comfortable to do work - or hang after checkout and before planeing away. The rooms are indeed small. A courtesy is that Moxy sends an email to remind you of how small they are and about other aspects, such as steamers in-room vs iron "area" on each floor (steam is my preferred choice so great). The pix of the room show the layout and, yes, lack of furniture such as a closet and bureau. The bathroom is great design and good water pressure and heat. Nice enough gym open 24 hours. Some things I would change would be: get smaller chairs in each room, perhaps a wall-mounted 3-shelf unit for storage vs a bureau, and the safes are in the one drawer and take up most of it. read more

This boutique hotel is one of the most unique in which I've ever stayed. It's also one of my favorites. You can tell that the designer had a lot of fun and that fun extends to the atmosphere as a whole. For example, our room had a bathroom constructed of frosted glass, opening up the cozy space and letting in more light- perfect for the sole venturer or pairs who are very comfortable with one another. Of course they offer other options, like rooms designed for families and for those who'd prefer a tad more privacy than a glass loo. There's also a rooftop restaurant/bar, ground floor bar (also serves as check-in), a snack bar, and a library! But above all, the staff is incredible; they not only offered assistance with, and I mean this quite literally, EVERYTHING, they also are gracious and kind, despite our obnoxious tourist confusion. I recommend this hotel to anyone with a sense of humor, appreciation for design, and/or the desire to have a upbeat, uplifting time. Thank you so much, Moxy DC! read more

Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!!... The Moxy is affiliated with Marriott,so the name should clearly speak volumes, right? Correct as far as my experience went this past weekend! We walked in the automated revolving doors towards the front desk to check in, we were greeted by the front desk concierge and gave our name and we asked for the highest floor they had available and we were able to get the 12th floor from the 13th floor establishment,good deal!. The elevators are conveniently located to the left as you walk with stairs to the immediate left if you're feeling like you want to start a cardio session! ( not I,not while vacationing anyway)! Oh I forgot to mention they give you two tokens to get free drinks at the bar, which is located right behind the check in area ( how convenient,right!). The room was quite small for my liking but it wasn't a deal breaker or should I say a star deduction, so with that being said I would stay at their establishment again, another note: they have two other locations as well, one in Times Square in NYC and in Miami Florida as well, in which the Miami location was a thought once but ended up selecting the another hotel instead! Thanks to the hotel and communication with their offsite customer service. I had a horrible time. I am currently traveling from out of town. I'm currently traveling from out of town. I called from out of town to confirm that I could do a late check-in. I was admittedly told that I could. I attempted to check in and for whatever reason I was then having issues with my card that is linked to my profile. I attempted multiple times to use my card in-house. I then stepped away to try to call Marriott and my bank to see what the problem would be. Over the phone, with a Marriott representative, I was told I would be able to make a transaction over the phone via manual. I did that and things went smoothly. This is a unique hotel. When I walked up, the large glass windows were slid open and furniture was outside for patron's to utilize. The check in desk is a bar, which was so cool. I was happy that they were able to accommodate an earlier check in for me. The rooms are small and have limited amenities. This was fine for me as I only had a couple nights here and rooming but myself. They do have shower gel, toothpaste, razor, hand soap and steamer in room. The old school rotary phones were such a neat addition to the room decor. The room reminds me of a small dorm room with some having bunk beds. Downstairs there were games, seating and a library area for socializing. I really liked the open concept bar welcome area and got to socialize with other patrons at night. The Yelp reviews did me dirty. Moxy hotels are geared for Millennials- which I am. They are minimalistic and an interesting experience with a communal vibe, not your normal hotel. Art, common spaces, games, music. I love the concept, and have stayed at them around the world. This specific Moxy hotel design is a miss- GROSSLY over priced (even for the location). The room itself is just Not up to the standards I have seen in other Moxy hotels, and no matter how great the service is, or cool the vibe it can't overcome how offense the price is for the room size, and the safety risks the size poses. Aside from the offensive pricing for the size, this size is a safety concern for multiple reasons. I read the reviews saying it's on the smaller size, and was unfazed. I want to be very specific- The rooms are smaller than any room I've ever stayed in- including individual hostels and jail cell for that matter. ;) 1. There is 6 inches? between the end of the bed and wall- a path you must walk to put down the blinds. (is he windows face another hotel you you must close them.) This was a concerning trip hazard for my two elderly parents. See photos for size reference. 2. To elaborate further on the size of the room- there is no closet or space to open your luggage other than the entry way blocking the door from completely opening. Not sure how this passed fire codes, and again, trip hazard. The whole room feels like an obstacle course- not in a fun way. Even if you are young, without concern of tripping- I basically had to repack it every time I accessed my luggage. This is just an inconvenience all around. Wasted time. There is a small section under the bed you could store items- but it's too small to fit even my carryon roller bag. There is a sheet and thin blanket on the bed- tee shirt material thin. Nice pillow. Walls are VERY thin. It wasn't an issue for us at night though. One set of small towels for 2 people. (Called to get more.) IKEA furniture. It was very clean. Bathroom offers no privacy- see through glass walls which save space but awkward... you can be shaving your hoo-ha in the shower literally 1 foot from your mom or coworker charging their iPhone. (See photos.) My one big complaint is the Motion censor light in the bathroom detected motion through the glass wall and turned on when rolling over in bed, and would be on for what seemed like an eternity. sometimes it randomly turned on without movement- I thought there was an intruder and it freaked me out. The $600+/night stay came with a free welcome drink and coffee. I saw others spin a wheel and win $20 in free food, but that wasn't offered to me so maybe it was something special? There is a small store with beverages and muffins and a really great selection of things millennials like, but everything cost extra. No napkins out either. For $600+ a night y'all can't give me a muffin and a napkin? Staff was notably friendly. They had a great vibe, professional yet not cookie cutter hotel staff. Loved the receptionists blue hair- she was awesome. Bartenders were attentive and extremely professional. Great mix of a luxury hotel staff meets bartender. They really could not have done better at the services they offered. It's just never going to be enough to compensate for how offensively tiny the rooms are for the price point, and how they truly were not safety first. I truly would not have stayed there had I known the size, and will be hesitant to book a moxy moving forward- which a bummer because outside of the room itself the hotel was great. read more

While the location was ideal, every other aspect was lacking. There is no front desk; when checking in/out or asking questions, the only employee is also the bartender. The bartender literally asked us to move a few feet over so she wouldn't have to "pivot" to help us. Employees acted as if we were bothering them when checking in, paying for drinks, etc. The room was the smallest room I could I've ever imagined. Two people cannot walk in at the same time. One person could walk in and sit on the bed and wait for the other to come in, (and we are lean people). The bed was uncomfortable, and obviously, we had to climb over one another to get out of the bed since you could not walk around it. The bathroom wasn't terrible, but with glass doors it made it a little awkward when going to the bathroom. Furniture outside on the patio area near the front door was also thin, hard, and cheap, probably bought from IKEA. The room walls were thin and I could hear if anyone was in the hall-or the room down the hall with the dog barking. The location was wonderful; it was walking distance to food, the National Mall, and shopping. I wanted this to be a fun and unique experience, and unique it was! I walk by this building frequently. My friends had a party and stayed in the hostel one night. The place has a fun atmosphere. If you like photo opps, there are plenty. The lobby looks like a patriotic carnival, complete with a carousel horse. There are comfy couches, games, shared meeting spaces and a bar. The hostel has spare, small rooms that cost approx $100 in January. If you are traveling through DC, this is a central place to stay. I wouldn't stay alone but I would travel with someone. The bar has many choices that seem $1-3 dollars more expensive than other bars or restaurants. There is a variety of snack choices. You can order individual pizzas or hearty snacks. There is a 24 hour self serve food station behind the bar. Oatmeal is $5. The shared space upstairs has couches, chairs and "wobbly" stools that look like something you might see in a yoga studio. Dogs are allowed. We heard one periodically barking the entire visit. My guess is that the dog was expressing his dismay at another dog. The bar wasn't busy much of the visit. There are free gummy bears & fish crackers on the counter. You order food or beverages downstairs and you can take them upstairs. Someone occasionally bussed the tables but we brought our orders with us. There is an elevator and a staircase. It is worth taking the stairs to see the signs and decorations. There are charging stations and a useful media wall for visitors. It lists metro, travel and weather information. I saw security cameras throughout the facility but I didn't see security guards. I wouldn't mistake a security camera for "safety." This place is like any other downtown - be aware of your surroundings, watch your purse and have fun. read more

I attend an event that took place at their bar/lobby area, and boy, the bar-service was excellent. In fact, I have never had a bar-service be so quick, accommodating, and kind. Whomever is running this part of the hotel is doing a great job. Also, I should mention that the place is distinctive, colorful, and modern; even the bathrooms are nice. This is my second time at Moxy. I love this venue. The decor is very modern, retro, and nostalgic all at once. It's a very comfortable setting when you enter and it's not too large nor small for events. My first time coming was for a private event upstairs and it was great. The food was catered from the kitchen and the spread was delicious. There was also a private bar tender for the event. This past weekend I was here for a public event. The venue was perfect for the vibe. Live music and art. The reason I have to give the venue 4 stars is because I ordered brisket tacos and I waited almost an hour, the tortillas were not cooked, and the meat was grey and chewy. It was a crowded event but I ordered well before the rush. They said they'd reimburse me for the tacos wish I hope so because I couldn't even finish them. I would give a zero if possible. It was HORRIBLE!!! I stayed for three nights. We were on the 7th floor out of 12 floors. There is a rooftop bar/restaurant. EVERY NIGHT starting around 7pm there would be a line of people to use the elevator and it would take close to an hour to get to get to the elevator because of all the people going to the rooftop. We tried to use the stairs once instead of the elevator but the doors to access the floors were all locked and couldn't be opened from the stairwell. And to make it all worse the music was blasting so loud from the ROOFTOP that it was loud in our room all the way down on the 7th floor and it didn't stop each night till 2-3am. This was also Tuesday-Thursday night. It wasn't even a weekend. This that was miserable and such a waste of money. I'd stay literally anywhere else. read more

I'm an early riser. So, at 6:00 AM, I decided to give my sleeping wife a break and go down to the lobby to sit in peace and quiet. Except the staff was sitting watching videos on their phones, without headphones-- making it an annoying place to be. For two consecutive days. As well, they do have a quiet area-- but on the first day, one of their staff members sat in it, for more than an hour, making phone calls. And, when I asked where the nearest pharmacy was, the front desk sent me on a 35 minute walk- not knowing there was a CVS a block from the hotel. We're Marriot members. The Moxy Hotel in Washington DC is super fun and trendy, definitely more millennial leaning in its design and energy which as a millennial myself I love its vibe and aesthetic! The rooms are on the smaller side but thats ok the bed was still comfortable, the walk in shower was nice with a smaller detachable hose. These rooms are great for having a cute space to stay when out with friends or exploring the city you're in! Also really loved the library, the super trendy bar and the ability to order room service straight from your phone, also the room phone is a rotary dial even with a button to hear bedtime stories! The gym was very modern as well with the weights and yoga mat brandishing the memorable pink logo with an outdoor patio attachment as well! And as a Marriott member (Silver elite) I received a complimentary drink at check in! Definitely recommend the dc location and have been to many fun events at the rooftop at the Moxy in times square nyc!! First came to Moxy for their grand opening party. We are big fans of their New York location as the aesthetics gave us Alice in Wonderland vibes. The DC location was just as charming, but with its own unique flair. We have not spent a night specifically in their hotel rooms so this review is solely for their lobby and bar area. Food was surprisingly very diverse from naan to sushi - our favorite was their buttery lobster roll (couldn't believe we liked it more than Luke's Lobster). They have a $6 cocktail deal at happy hour and we can't tell you how many Moxy Mules we slicked down that night. Service was so welcoming and fun; they all really encouraged us to dance and have fun that night! Our first time at a Moxy. Definitely different, but very fun atmosphere. Lobby area was comfortable and had games at the ready. Nice little area for ready made snacks, beverages, etc. Bar. Food available (we did not try). Rooms are very compact and minimalist in furnishings, but we found to be great. Staff at was friendly, fun and helpful w/ recommendations and ideas. It had been better in the past. It seems like they just don't have the staff or the interest to do upkeep. Internet was out the whole visit. Their response was - they don't control that (it's a contractor). Checkin was two hours late because "the linen hasn't arrived yet". Wanted to use the advertised Peloton bike but was told "that hasn't worked in ages". read more

We loved out stay here! If you're staying at a Moxy you need to have your expectations set ahead of time. Yes, the rooms are small, but that is exactly their model and it's reflected in the prices. We arrived a bit early and unfortunately they were not able to check us in ahead of our check-in time. No big deal. We used their bathroom to change, checked out bags, and then walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch. When we came back, the front desk attendant had our room ready and even gave us a complimentary upgrade! The room was well designed and well appointed given its size. We ended up with a corder room so we had tons of natural light streaming in which we loved. Above all, the room felt CLEAN which is so important when staying at a hotel. Aside from the property itself, we found all the staff we interacted with to be very friendly. We also got a couple of free drink tokens upon arrival. It was great to grab a drink at the bar downstairs before heading out for the night. We would definitely stay here again! read more
