Piotr recently completed a remodel of the kitchen and both baths in my house, and I am very pleased with the outcome. Unlike other contractors I had contacted, he had great ideas for improving the appearance and functionality of the rooms, and his quote was very reasonable. He has a good working relationship with some local vendors, which helped in getting nice cabinets, tile, and countertops. Early into the remodel, we talked about doing some additional improvements and his quote for the added work was modest. I was able to get out of the house for two months, which helped the crew make the changes. If had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing. read more

I hired Piotr and his team to completely redo two of my bathrooms and the entire bottom floor of my 1908 craftsman. I had several bids and Piotr was not the lowest. But based on his good reviews I went with PK Remodeling. I am very glad that I did. They cut no corners and are extremely professional. They completely redid the plumbing, electrical and even had to redo the joists of the bathroom. Instead of just covering it up they ripped everything out and rebuilt it to last. They got everything up to code. His team were on time everyday and extremely friendly and respectful. Piotr was very responsive to my frequent texts as I am a bit anal about renovations. They used high quality materials and high quality craftsmen and one year later my remodel still looks brand new. I don't plan on remodeling again in the near future but when I do I will be contacting PK again. I've had many friends talk about their nightmare contractors being unreliable and doing shoddy work. Amazing work, work ethic, and design sense. I contacted a few contractors for bids and he followed up right away and was very easy to reach by email. He remodeled our kitchen but ended up making very tasteful suggestions while the work progressed that made a huge difference in the final project. For example, he recommended we replace some lights and change a ceiling fan to improve the continuity of design. The project also involved taking down a wall and chimney, and Piotr handled that with no problem. He is such a professional and I will definitely hire him again for our next remodeling project. We had PK Remodeling completely revamp our kitchen and dining area and are extremely happy with both the end result and the process we went through to get there. Piotr works with the end goal of doing work clients will be pleased with, and that he will be proud of. As others have noted, I find Piotr is great at both implementing what you want as a client, but also making creative suggestions for improving the space based on his experience and eye for design. We are so grateful he bluntly but gently asked us why were even doing a kitchen remodel if we were just going to choose cabinets that looked like they came out of the 90s- almost exactly the same as the ones we were getting rid of! He also came up with a great design for our skylights that makes the space look larger and more open than a traditional design would have. When it came to actually doing the work, Piotr and his crew, Armando and Jesus, were extremely professional, attentive to detail, respectful of your space, friendly, and you can tell they want to do the job right, not just cheaply and quickly. We feel his pricing is very reasonable for the quality of the work and the experience, as we had bids from much more expensive design-build firms (that we didn't really need for a remodel of our scope). Piotr also does not skimp on the "raw" materials that he supplies and pays for, and he was very fair with the price increase he charged us for the extra work they had to do to take care of moldly drywall behind cabinetry and a mess of old knot and tube wiring in the wall. They do almost everything themselves, which makes for more seamless communication, and the few people they do contract out with, like the electrician and countertop fabricators, all operate with the same great work ethic. A few people have rated Piotr poorly for not being responsive during the estimating phase- be patient, as he is fielding a lot of requests for first, second, and third looks while he has ongoing jobs, and once he is signed on and your job is rolling, he is very quick to respond to texts and calls. He even came back weeks after we were "done," and had already paid in full, to fix a few tiny problems we noticed once we started using the space. No home improvement nightmare for us- working with professionals like Piotr and his team made what is inevitably a stressful process much more manageable. read more

We had our kid's bathroom done w/ Piotr. From beginning to the end Piotr was personable and easy to interact with. He was absolutely responsive to all the concerns we had. I hear horror stories about working with contractors and we were pleasantly suprised by how super easy it was to work w/ Piotr. He hires a few helpers, but, he does the main jobs himself so you can rely on good quality. In addition, after all work was completed, we needed some adjustments and he came right away to fix them without any delay. The final product was excellent! PKRemodeling recently completed fairly extensive work on our house in Alameda, including 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and the kitchen. We're more than happy with the results, and it was a pleasure to work with Piotr, his crew and his subs, all of whom were very professional and pleasant to be around--important for a 3-month project! Piotr is very talented and capable--not only on the construction side of things, but he also has great ideas about what should--or could--be done, and, perhaps most importantly for a larger scale project, he's very organized. Piotr has considerable design skills himself, but worked comfortably with the designer we had hired earlier. We just completed a kitchen and master bath remodel with PK Remodeling and could not be more pleased. Piotr and his crew saved us from a contractor who had started the bathroom project but left it 1/4 completed and me a complete wreck. Piotr is a rare contractor in that he is flexible, accommodating, and honors his estimates of time and cost for your project. He wasn't the least expensive bid we got, nor was he the most expensive. I feel so lucky to have a PK original bathroom in our Alameda victorian. Piotr and his crew were absolute professionals from start to finish. Going into our bathroom remodel, we weren't sure what we wanted in terms of style and materials. He listened carefully to our ideas and came up with a design that both fit the character of our home while adding lots of beautiful and modern touches. He helped us pick out materials and guided us through everything we needed, and was very responsive as we traded ideas back and forth by email. Additionally, he accommodated lots of changes and additions to the project along the way - we ended up tacking on some extra structural work, heated floors, and painting that we didn't anticipate early in the project. He worked with our budget and was very transparent along the way about how much everything would cost and how much time it would take. We bought a 100 year old home in Alameda's Gold Coast in excellent condition-- but needed a master bathroom. The existing bathroom was likely from the original builders and an entire re-do was needed. Going into the project, we had a few ideas of what we needed, but we were exceptionally lucky to have selected Piotr for this job. Not only did he flawlessly take care of the somewhat complicated layout remodel (walls taken down, new walls, doors moved in a few rooms, closets moved, walls/ceilings/floor taken down to studs), but the design suggestions and finishing work was beyond what we could have hoped for. Too many details to list here, but the 8ft marble slab shower and walls/floor to match looks straight out of a palace. It is worth noting that the project itself took longer than expected, but for justifiable reasons-- demo of 100 year old room revealed extra work to clean up, such as knob-and-tube, and some 3rd party vendors (notably the marble installers) had scheduling conflicts. Piotr and his crew would regularly show up at 8am and work Saturdays to prevent further delay. They also took the time to do "extra" work that many contractors probably would not have-- for example painting adjacent rooms to match, replacing trim to maintain design continuity, replacing/tweaking walls to be more linear to the room, customizing a marble threshold to the room, etc. etc. We were also very impressed with how careful the workers were to respect the home. Because of the layout of the home, they had to do _a lot_ of walking through the house during the demo and rebuild-- which notably included hauling 500lb marble slabs up a tricky staircase. Hard to believe all of this was done without any collateral damage to the home. I could go on, but at the end of the day, 5 stars for sure, and I'm pretty sure this amazing bathroom that will still be impressive 100 years from now. read more

That's right, PK Remodeling is "Woohoo! As as good as it gets!" Everything that everyone else has said about Piotr is consistent with my experience as well. He is a contractor who moonlights as a designer (or maybe the other way around - I think he is just as good at designing as he is at construction). He's a very patient contractor who stuck around as I took months to find the perfect items (vanities, tiles, faucets, etc.). After months of meeting with Piotr off and on for a bathroom remodel (including a meeting at a tile store where he helped us pick out tiles), we decided to hire a professional designer to speed up the process. After a few months with the designer, we settled on choices with her but I didn't feel 100% convinced that it was what I wanted to do. When I contacted Piotr to start the work, he provided honest feedback about our choices which I really appreciated because I wasn't completely sold on it. He wanted me to be sure of our decision since it was so different than what we had discussed. He didn't need to do that because he wasn't going to profit from a change. He honestly just wanted to be sure we were going to be happy in the end. I ended up firing the designer and Piotr helped me pick out all of the remaining items (he did not charge me for his time in picking out the remaining items). Not only did he give me ideas of where to go, he helped pick out items, ordered all of necessary items (some I had no clue about), and also got me "contractor discounts" to save me money to boot! Throughout the construction, he would check in to make sure I was happy with how things were looking, always answering my questions and calming me down when I wasn't sure about certain decisions. At the end of the project, he suggested an artistic interest piece for the bathroom which included a wood panel with bathroom hooks for towels. Also, noticing that we didn't have a lot of shelf space with our trough sink, he suggested a floating wood shelf that would come out of the mirror. We were skeptical and almost didn't do it but I'm so glad we took his advise. He made the wood panel and wood shelf himself and I think they are the highlight of the bathroom. It gave the bathroom so much more character and are my favorite parts of the bathroom. Piotr and his team are great contractors. Piotr completed a full remodel of our upstairs bath in Alameda recently. He responded right away to my call for an estimate and showed up on time. He answered many questions about the contract until we all agreed what we were signing and he was ready to start when he said he would be. His bid was competitive and he said he'd be able to get the job done within our budget. He was easy to communicate with throughout the job by phone, text and in person. He is trustworthy, nice and cooperative to work with. Piotr seems to really care if the job gets done well and with quality work. He kept the job site clean and he has a great attention to detail especially in the tile work. I don't think he broke or mis-cut one tile as I really cut my order very close to what the job needed and we didn't need to get more. He takes responsibility for the quality and oversight of any subcontractors. The job came in on budget and is beautiful. We recently hired Piotr to remodel one of our bathrooms and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Compared to the average contractor, he is reachable on his phone, personable, and exceedingly professional. Piotr is very skilled at what he does and surrounds himself with other similarly skilled workers (when his jobs require a good amount of labor) who you can tell very much respect him as well. Within minutes of laying eyes on our horribly outdated bathroom, Piotr proposed the removal of a wall between our toilet and shower. This ended up being the best idea and is not something we would have ventured on our own. Piotr did two other things that especially impressed me. First, he gently offered his opinions as I was making design and fixture choices and I so appreciate this. Everything he recommended has turned out to be exactly the right thing for the space and fit perfectly with my overarching vision. Second, Piotr used his keen eye for detail and understanding that things must be done RIGHT to advocate for us with the people he brought in to do the glass shower walls. Didn't get done exactly right the first time, but Piotr made sure it was all perfect by the end. He showed up on time, put in some pretty long days, and was pleasant, confident and remarkably organized throughout. Things got cleaned up when the work was done and what we are left with is a fabulous bathroom that is even better that what we were originally imagining. We just finished a bathroom remodel in our early 1900s home in Alameda with PK Remodeling. From the estimate process to the finished product, we were impressed working with Piotr. He took the time to understand our vision and what we wanted. Other contractors showed us all of the things they have done, while he focused more on what we wanted, and then helped in design observations and suggestions. The ideas he had were focused on enhancing ours, while giving an updated look but keeping the history of the house. Piotr was always responsive, via text or calls, and we never spent time wondering where things were at in the process. His crew on this project, Jesus and Armando, were amazing. They were very friendly, accommodating when possible to our 19 month old son's nap schedule....not to mention entertaining him as he always wanted to watch what they were doing and say hi. The quality work and craftsmanship was top of the line. Where others may have sped up the process to get the job done, they took their time and did it right. On top of all this, we had a short timeline as we are expecting baby #2. They were able to get it done in the time framed needed. The other surprise, just based on what I have heard before from others in remodeling, is that the cost remained the same the entire time. What we agreed to on the initial estimate is what it cost in the end. We read Yelp reviews when making our selection, and read them again before writing this review and I have to say I am in absolute agreement with the other positive reviews. I give Piotr the highest recommendation--he did a first-rate job remodeling our two bathrooms. One bathroom project required combining a full bathroom with a half bathroom, taking everything down to the studs, re-plumbing,rewiring, rebuilding and installing a new shower, toilet, sink,vanity, lighting, closet, etc.--and it looks beautiful and functions perfectly. In addition to remodeling our bathrooms, Piotr also replaced the old 1940's-era wiring in our house, so now we don't have to worry about the old wiring creating a fire hazard; he also reconstructed a skylight in our kitchen that had been shoddily installed many years ago, so that now it's a proper skylight. His work is excellent, he's efficient and hardworking, he's extremely ethical, his costs are reasonable, he overflows with good ideas and suggestions, and he's fun to work with! He takes great pride in (and has our gratitude for) doing things the right way--no shortcuts, no quick and dirty fixes, no avoidance of problems. In fact, he's an exceptional problem-solver and always comes up with creative solutions and various options. He's also a talented designer with an excellent sense of aesthetics. He would not only give us ideas, he would also bring us samples of tile and other materials for us to look at. Finally, he keeps the work area neat and tidy, making sure the construction doesn't needlessly interfere with other areas of the house, and he keeps dust and dirt to a minimum, cleaning up the construction debris every day. Piotr recently remodeled our master bathroom, replacing a sunken tub with a walk-in shower and a soaking tub and replacing the tile floor. The project presented many unforeseen problems: the concrete floor (under the tile) was industrial strength, so broke many drill bits; a decorative concrete wall which had to be partially opened to insert the shower plumbing was also industrial strength; the soaking tub was too large to fit through the bathroom door, so one wall had to be partially dismantled (without cutting the supporting studs) and then reassembled after bringing in the tub. Piotr and his crew were hard working, courteous, and did a superb job, handling all the extra problems with ease and taking care throughout to keep dust and debris to a minimum. We absolutely love our new bathroom! it looks even better than I had anticipated and it is a joy to take a shower and have all the water drain quickly through an appropriately slanted floor. We are using Piotr for another project now and are pleased to give him our highest recommendation. read more
