AWFUL AWFUL AWUL!!!! Do not use this guy for your tailoring needs. I brought in a strapless dress that needed to be tightened at the top. The dress was brand new and had no other problems. The guy charged me as much as the original cost of the dress for the alterations (which I was ok with because I expected excellent tailorship). When I got the dress back, there were more problems with the dress than I had brought it in with. When I confronted the tailor about it, he and his assistant began yelling at me saying that the dress was already poor quality and that there's nothing they can do to fix it. In the end, they tried to charge me MORE to do additional alterations to the dress. All the while saying they're not sure more work will even fix the problems. These people DO NOT stand by their work. They do not give refunds for faulty work. They have terrible customer service and low satisfaction. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I, too, greatly dislike leaving negative reviews for small businesses, however this guy was extremely rude. We needed some a pair of slacks and a dress altered for a big family event, so we took it to this place which is down the street from our house. A dress needed to be taken in, and when I went back in to do a fitting after he'd worked on it, it was way too tight in the chest, pressing uncomfortably and looking awful. He argued that this was a "sexy" look, which was both incredibly inaccurate and offensive. We also purchased a shirt from him, which was in packaging so long there were faded lines where the shirt had been folded. We took it to return, and found that another shirt on the rack had a hole, which understandably is a manufacturer issue, however when we brought it to his attention, he was rude and abrupt, slamming a hanger on the counter. He brought us another shirt to look at, which happened to be the wrong arm length, and after that was brought to his attention he argued that the larger size would fit fine, even though it was TOO BIG. Lastly, the shirt we bought and the altered pants (that he did an ok job on) both smelled like whatever incense he has burning in his store, or moth balls, we couldn't tell which. The clothes had to be hung outside for two days before the stench would come out. Thankfully, all in time for the big event. read more

Sadly disappointed. I've been going to this location for years. I've had several pairs of jeans, slacks, a jacket and a dress hemmed at this location. I'd always been charged $7 to $14, for each piece. But the last pair of slacks she hemmed, she charged me $50 for them! I reminded her that she's never charged more than $14 and that the slacks didn't even cost that much at the store, to begin with. I asked her why am I being charged $50 now? She just said that specific 'material' will be $50 (even tho it's the exact same material as all of the previous $7-$14 slacks, that I had her hem). She had already hemmed this last pair, so I had no other choice. I either had to pay the $50, or not have the slacks at all. (Which kind of felt like my slacks were being held hostage and if I didn't pay the highly excessive ransom fee, I'd never be able to see those pants again). Lol, okay not that over the top, but you know what I mean. (Just trying to making light of a otherwise uncomfortable situation). So, I did not have anymore time to argue, as I had to leave. So I reluctantly paid the excessive $50. And as I was leaving, I her that, "I am sorry, but I won't be coming back, because I don't agree with their extreme fluctuating, (extortionate-like) pricing. I simply could not continue paying double, then triple, each & every time I came in." In closing, It's terribly unfortunate, because I liked going to them. And to be fair, they actually are pretty good at what they do. They just Really need to warn their customers of the cost (ahead of time), so the customer can decide for themselves, of what 'they' are willing to pay. read more

This guy was rude, did all the alterations wrong and I got clothes made from India, no way to fix them because they were designer custom fit and I wish I had gone to someone else. I don't recommend this guy at all. If he had a better attitude then maybe but there are better places all over the place. Don't use this person for alterations. I recently started living and working in the area, and needed some slacks taken in. I get all of my pants taken in and usually go to a place in Simi Valley - which is now quite a bit out of my way - But I continue to go there because I can count on a great result. So, I thought, why not try a new place? Bad idea. I took 2 pair of slacks in to take in the waist. The man (owner from how is sounds) helped me, pinned them and I thought they seemed fine at the time. Now, the name of the business is "Express alterations" according to the sign, although my credit card receipt said MQ tailor. Not very "express" when he told me it would take 6 days for the alterations. that was fine, though, since I was not in a big hurry. So, I picked up the pants, when I tried them on, I wasn't happy. The waist was fine, but the butt pouched out like I was wearing a diaper. I don't know how he accomplished this, except that maybe while sewing he stretched the material too much and it caused some weirdness to go on there... So, I couldn't make it back there to have them re-altered for a couple weeks, due to many things, but when I did, I wasn't expecting free re-alterations. No one ever does that - there is always an excuse - but maybe a little discount. Well, This is how it went - I walked in and the owner recognized me and I said Hi - remember me? (yes) well I picked these up a couple of weeks ago and I am thinking that I need a little more... and He cut me off and said "Those aren't the pants I did!" I said "well yeah they are..." and he said "no - I did a pair of black and another one." I said You have got to be kidding...really? These are the pants you worked on - why would I bring anything else in here? He started going through all of his receipts and asking for my name, and telling me he could prove it. I asked him how exactly he could prove that these pants weren't the ones he worked on by a receipt that said "pants -$15" - He said, because he knows what he worked on - I said yes I know what he worked on too, it was these pants. He said he wants me to be happy, and to know what was the truth. He said "you go home and get your receipt and then I will prove it to you." I said I wasn't happy and I know the truth. However, I don't understand what his whole point was, I wasn't asking his for anything for free, he didn't even let me get to the point of my visit. Anyway, I said -"I am going home, then tomorrow I will drive to Simi Valley and get these pants fixed the right way and I don't care how much it costs me, and I will never come back here." read more

I went it from advice that the guy can tailor and sells suit nearby. When I got there, he quickly sized me up and gave me a suit. It didn't fit exactly well but he said he could tailor it for me. After a week, I got the suit and I was impressed with the fit. He also tailored the pants to make it more slim fit and to make the waist smaller. He also gave me a tie as as a bonus. I gave him 4 stars because I wish he had more suit colors in his collections. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with his products and services. read more

I really hate having to give a bad review to a small business. It sucks and it almost hurts, but I have to because I also think that loyal customers deserve to be treated well. I was a loyal customer of M.Q. Tailor Import Suits, until today. OK, here's the story: I have been going to this tailor for about a year. I have taken pants to him to get the hem up when they where too long and I also took a couple of jackets to him because the sleeves were too short. All those jobs I was happy so I kept going to him. Last week I took him another jacket because the sleeves where too short but there was not enough material to make the sleeves longer so I decided to have him tailor the jacket to make a 3 quarter sleeve. I went in and I tried it on. I explained to him that the sleeves were too short (and he agreed with me) and I told him what I wanted. He signaled with his hand where the 3 quarter cut off would be and I liked it so I gave him the go ahead. The problem is that he didn't mark the length with a pin!!! So what he did was he took the measurement of the sleeve of the jacket and made it 3 quarters. The problem is that I told him that I wanted a 3 quarter measurement based on the length of my arm, not the length of the sleeve that was too short to begin with!!! I went in today. And there were two problems: 1) the first one was that he had another client who was obviously more important than me and he talked to me like he just wanted me to leave. I told him that I preferred to stay and wait until he was finished because I wanted to try the jacket on with him there. So he told me to go in the dressing room. 2) the second problem came whenI tried the jacket on and, of course, the sleeves where too short. They weren't 3 quarter sleeves which should sit at the middle of my forearm. They are like half arm sleeves sitting just 3 quarters of an inch below my elbow. I told him the sleeves were too short and asked if he could take them out. He said no, and then he got all upset saying that he had marked it and I had said OK, and now I was saying no, and that the measurements were right. And he was all upset and rude because he wanted to get back to his other client and wouldn't listen to me. So I took my ruined $150 White House Black Market brand new jacket (which is now a $180 ruined jacket including the $30 I had to pay for the butchering job) and came home in tears. I can still wear the jacket with the matching dress and I'll still look cute in the outfit. But I will have to try really hard not to think about how much cuter and more polished it would be if it was a 3 quarter sleeve jacket instead of the half sleeve jacket I am now stuck with. I will not be going back and I don't recommend this tailor. If you do go to him, make sure and insist that he pins the length exactly were you want them. But be prepared to getting snapped at and told "I know what I'm doing!" like he has done to me in the past. I should have seen the red flag and not gone back before he ruined my jacket. But I ignored the red flag and now I have a ruined jacket. Shop around for someone who will stand behind his work, has better manners, and better customer service disposition. LV read more

I definitely don't recommend this guy. He's extremely rude. None of our clothes fit properly with this guys measurements. He measures it in a way so that the clothes dont fit and you have to go back to him for alterations. Save your money, save your time. read more
