Mr Appliance repaired my dryer in January of 2026 and I called them in March stating I thought it was making strange sounds and maybe wasn't reassembled correctly. The original repair was simply replacing a belt. They would not honor their work and said I needed to pay another $150 fee to have someone look at it, so I opted to have a less expensive repair company come out instead. The other company proceeded to tell me that my dryer was in fact put together wrong. There were parts that were put in entirely upside down, and the drum was basically floating inside of it. He told me I was lucky it didn't catch on fire. This error necessitated in hundreds of dollars of additional parts and repairs including replacing 2 mechanisms inside of the dryer that were damaged due to the negligence of Mr Appliance. The Mr Appliance technicians also tried to fleece me for the cost of a longer cord because they couldn't figure out how to plug my dryer back in. I tried calling to speak with a manager over a week before writing this review, but they don't even care enough to follow up on customer concerns. Avoid this company at all costs. If you need a competent, safe, honest appliance repair company, seek out All Hours Appliance Repair in Forney instead. They very likely saved me from a fire. read more

Mr. Appliance in October 2024 charged $410 to replace heating element on my dryer which is kind of pricey. However we needed it repaired at the time. The 149 service fee is also a bit much. The dryer worked for 13 months and now the same heating element issue has occured and do not want to drop another 400 into the same heating element issue. Will see if they can honor the warrnty of parts or provide a deep discount on the repair. Once they call me back can update the review either very positive or very negative depending on the level of service and qualtiy. read more

I called them as my dishwasher was leaking towards the end of the wash cycle. It seemed like a simple fix but almost $400 and 4 visits later, my dishwasher is leaking SO much worse that we have to replace it. They seemed to just keep guessing what the problem is and making me buy new parts and realigned it which just made the leaking so much worse and it now leaks immediately. They basically said I'm SOL unless I want to continue purchasing new parts with no guarantee that would fix the seemingly simple issue. We've been loyal customers for years, but this company has completely fallen apart. It took four separate visits to fix a dishwasher issue, and thanks to the technician's incompetence, she not only failed to fix it but also broke and lost parts in the process. My wife and I emailed Mr. Appliance twice--zero response. When we finally spoke with Barron, his "solution" was a pathetic $20 discount and a suggestion to take our business elsewhere. What an absolute insult. This company is a disgrace. Their technicians are untrained, their customer service is nonexistent, and they have no accountability. The technician that came out was great. My problem is with their pricing/cost structure. My GE dryer began to make a squeaky sound as it ran. I narrowed the problem down to a worn bearing or worn belt. With the seemingly great reviews on google, I chose this company. I called but they will not provide an estimate over the phone, even if you know what the exact problem is. They charge $161 for the trip fee with tax just to be told in under a minute what was wrong (worn bearing). Parts and labor would have totaled $430. Parts themselves are $90 if you buy yourself, but if you buy parts from this company, they markup. The markup on parts in this case was $30 more. But buying your own parts means they won't warranty their work. Minus the parts, I was looking at $310 in labor to replace a simple bearing in a GE dryer. At that point, generally you're better off getting a new dryer when the cost to replace just the bearing is the cost for a basic dryer. I was expecting a more reasonable cost, in line with what I saw from researching bearing replacement cost ($150-$300 all in). Maybe because they are in Highland Park, they feel they can charge more because of the wealthy neighborhood. Sadly I don't live in that neighborhood and have to be cost conscious. I have used Mr. Appliance for three different appliances now. Their online appointment scheduling is great. Appliances always seem to break on weekends or when least expected. They have been able to come out next day. They are on time and are quickly able to assess the situation. I have had Layne all three times and he is clean, courteous, efficient and provides helpful information for how to prevent issues and / or extend the life of your appliances. They are reasonable and we have had an excellent experience. read more

Horrific- I referred my friend to Mr. Appliance as we have only had great experiences where we live so I thought my friend would too. WRONG. My friend had Mr. Appliance of Highland Park return MANY times to repair his dishwasher. Never fixed. While understandable that it sometimes can take a couple of times to diagnose an issue, each time he was charged excessive fees, charged for parts that he did not even need as they ended up being mere guesses of solutions for a problem that was not his, and still did not fix his issue. He never did get the issue resolved. He had to fight to get any money back. Weeks and weeks later, multiple calls later, many rude interactions with the appliance repair personnel later, Mr. Appliance refunded a tiny percentage of what my friend paid, but the dishwasher is still on the fritz, he never got refunded for all the service calls, they never repaid him for all the labor or parts he paid for that he did not need, and let's not get started on all the hours he had to take off work to meet them at his house for the pointless service calls. Too bad not all Mr. Appliances' are equal as I love mine. Unfortunately, Mr. Appliance of Highland Park is inefficient, rude to customers, swindled my friend out of a lot of money, and has no clue about appliance repair. Mr. Appliance will fix your appliance, no question but it will cost you more than it should. They'll come out and look at your broken mess for $139 and will then add the cost of repair plus the cost of parts. A $25 part on Amazon will cost you $100 from these guys plus a labor charge that is $$$'s of dollars. Used them 3 times and they get it done but just be ready to spend maybe more than what your appliance is worth to get it working. If your appliance is not worth at least $400 in working order, you're better off scrapping it and buying something new. I'm not bashing them. Just warning you that if you don't have funds in the budget for repairs, make what you've got work until you have $400 in the budget before you call them. If you do not go through with the repair, you will still owe them $139. read more

I originally contracted them to fix a simple problem on my dishwasher. At first the operator and technician seemed helpful and friendly, however almost as soon as the technician left the dishwasher broke again. They came back and told me the cost to come back out would be included however the technician then came out and charged me again without telling me! They then charged me for an expensive part that they said would fix it, it didnt. In hindsight I could have bought a new dishwasher (which I had to do anyways). Then after all this trouble I try to contacrt Deborah, in charge of billing, to discuss a dispute and she then screened my calls to avoid me. read more

My 22 year old Amana refrigerator needed help. It was still working but not optimally. I have changed the thermostat myself 3 times but it didn't totally fix it this time. I've had this frig looked at several times over the years and felt that I knew more about this frig than the young professionals charging me. I am an American Home Shield customer and was referred to Mr Appliance of Highland Park. They were great to work with. David found the problem with our 20plus year old Maytag dryer and was able to fix it. I was really happy, the part had to be ordered and he came back in a week to repair it. Not only does it work, it doesn't make the rattle noise anymore. David was very efficient and put everything back in its place, a very pleasant experience and a good person. He even gave me a history lesson on Maytag and Speed Queen, very knowledgeable I also worked with Susie on the phone. I hired Mr. Appliance because the defrost cycle on my fridge/freezer was not working properly. Every month, a lot of ice would build up, preventing the fridge from cooling, so I would put my fridge into diagnostic mode and manually initiate a defrost. After the ice melted, I would remove the water that would pool up. This was a hassle to do every month, and I hired Mr. Appliance to fix it. The person who came out was very nice. He was upfront and honest that he knew nothing about my fridge model. He spent the next 40 minutes standing in the kitchen, looking up the manual and schematics for the fridge. (All of that happened to be tucked away in the back of the fridge, which would have taken a few seconds to figure out if he had just unscrewed the back panel.) After all that time, he was uncertain about the cause of the problem, but based on his work as an experienced fridge repair technician and on his work teaching fridge repair, he determined that the issue was probably the main control board. However, he didn't know where the control board was located. Moreover, he said that no control boards were available for purchase. Before he left, I looked up the control board for my model fridge and found many available. I asked if this was the correct control board, and he said no. After he left, I called Whirlpool, and they contradicted what he said, confirming that the control board I found was actually correct. So I purchased it. I called Mr. Appliance to ask them to install it, and they wanted to charge me $280 (minus the $150 cost for the first diagnostic visit). This seemed very high to me, especially considering that their fridge expert didn't understand my Whirlpool fridge. So I called another company, ASAP Appliance. Sam from ASAP came out, and within 5 minutes, he had Whirlpool on the phone, and they told him exactly where the control board was located. It took him 5 more minutes to install it. On top of that, he determined that the issue was most likely not the control board because all the circuitry had been functioning properly. Instead, he said that something was probably blocking the defrost drainage tube. He instructed me to do a full defrost of the fridge and then inspect the drainage tube. I did so, and after I removed a small nozzle at the end of the drainage tube, all the defrosted water from the freezer came gushing out. I inspected the nozzle and found some buildup in it. A quick clean fixed the problem. Unfortunately, the control board that the first technician recommended and that I didn't need cost me $200, and this was non-refundable after removing the control board from the packaging. The visit from the first technician - which didn't amount to anything except the faulty recommendation to buy the control board - cost me $150. Before he left, I did ask a question about a leak in my dishwasher to make sure I got something out of the visit. The technician mentioned the edges just needed to be cleaned so that there would be a better seal, though he did none of the cleaning himself; I did all the cleaning. Considering that the technician couldn't correctly diagnose the fridge issue, I would expect a refund on the visit, especially considering how quickly the other technician determined the cause of the issue. I had called the company very politely about 3 or 4 times to ask to speak to someone who could help me with this, and although I was told each time that someone would call me back, I never received a response. I would leave zero stars if I could. I called with an emergency repair situation for our range (gas burner would not turn off) and they couldn't schedule us for two days. Instead of squeezing us in or bumping a non-emergency customer, their solution was for me to move the 400lb+ oven myself to turn off the gas connection until they could get around to me. The manager said she would call back but instead she texted and told me to call Atmos and wait until they could get me in. TEXTED ME. In an emergency situation. So incredibly unprofessional. And said we weren't priority because we hadn't used them before.....how many appliance repair companies have frequent customers? We've only made 1 other repair to our Thermador in all the years we've owned it. Luckily I was able to make a same-day appointment with Appliance Genius who was literally en route to my home within 30 minutes of calling. Clearly Mr Appliance has enough customers already so save your breath (and 3 hours of wasted time from them jerking me around with callbacks and texts) and hire another appliance repair company. read more

Do not use this company. The first appointment that I made was for 8 days ago. The tech showed up at the very end of the set time window and sat in his truck outside for 30 minutes before informing me that he had to leave due to a personal mattter. I wasted 4 hours at home waiting for this dishwasher repair. Then I rescheduled for 3 days later as it was the earliest they could fit me in. I was the FIRST on the schedule for that day. The tech then arrived at 1030 am that day for the first appt! Of course he couldn't fIx it because there was another part needed. Would have been nice for them to help me to fully ID the issue at the time of the appointment. That was a $175 service call. Then I ordered the parts and was supposed to be the FIRST morning appointment on the day after the parts arrived. The tech arrived at 1120 am. And I will say that Deborah in the office seems to really care less about your schedule. Not one apology or explanation. If you value your time and your wallet I strongly suggest you go elsewhere for appliance repair. read more

Although there was nothing wrong with my new Bosch dishwasher, I appreciated Mr. Appliance coming out and checking to make sure. The timing was perfect and it allowed me to have the real culprit ("bad outlet") repaired. However, the installers (contractors hired by Home Depot) could have, SHOULD HAVE told me that. Instead HD contractors said it was working before they left and of course, it wasn't. They just didn't want to deal with it. read more
