American Home Shield (AHS) assigned Elite Appliance Repair to repair my refrigerator, and the experience has been a complete disaster from the very beginning. I have been without a working refrigerator and freezer for more than a month because of this company's lack of professionalism and poor communication. As you can imagine, that has meant spending a significant amount of money eating out, having no cold food storage, no ice, and no cold drinks. It has been an enormous inconvenience. More than a month ago, Elite came to diagnose my refrigerator. I was told that I needed a new compressor and that one would be ordered. After weeks of waiting, I was told the delay was LG's fault because they were having trouble supplying the part. However, when the technicians finally arrived to complete the repair, they showed up as though it were the initial diagnostic visit. They did not have the compressor, were not prepared to perform the repair, and clearly had not coordinated the appointment properly. The technician, Kiro, called Elite's office and spoke with Tony. During my conversation with Tony, I was shocked by how rude and dismissive he was. When I pointed out that his tone was inappropriate, he responded by calling me rude. About 30 minutes later, he called back to apologize, saying he had been "rude and weird"--his exact words. Despite the apology, Elite continued to shift responsibility for the situation onto AHS. To be clear, AHS is not responsible for Elite taking over a month to complete this repair, nor is AHS responsible for the way Elite's employees treated me. As our conversation continued, Tony became even more unprofessional. He sarcastically mocked me by saying, "Aww, I know. We're such bad people. We're such a terrible company. You have no faith in us, so I'm going to deny you service. Go find another company." I asked whether he was the owner, and he clarified that he was only an employee. I then requested a meeting with both him and the owner because I believe the owner should know how his company is being represented. I even offered to come to their office to discuss the matter in person. Tony said the owner would contact me, but I have never received a call. Apparently, my request to speak with the owner caused Tony to reconsider his decision to deny service, because he later reversed course and confirmed that my already-scheduled appointment for the following morning would remain in place. This entire experience has been unacceptable. Between the excessive delay, lack of preparation, poor communication, constant finger-pointing, and disrespectful customer service, I cannot recommend this company under any circumstances. If AHS assigns Elite Appliance Repair to your claim, I strongly encourage you to request a different contractor. You have that right. I have already filed a formal complaint with AHS and requested that Elite Appliance Repair be removed from its preferred vendor network. Based on my experience, I would never use this company again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Save yourself the headaches and choose another repair service.
