Rice Ball (7.7/10) - Although the rice ball was 70% rice, the flavor of it with the meat and peas came together to make a yummy mush. Along with the crispy surface and side of (sweet) warm marinara sauce, the rice ball is a nice dish to have in the coziness of your home. Drunk Sicilian Slice (8.2/10) - Exactly what you would expect from a slice of pizza made with vodka sauce. In its unique square shape, the cheese is melted nicely across the creamy sauce and the rich crunchy crust. The cheese was the star of the slice with so much all over, it's everywhere. Penne Vodka Slice (8/10) - Tastes like what it looks like, a lot of pasta with less room for the sauce to shine. The slice was gimmicky but was a fun attempt at combining two fan favorite dishes. There was some cheese present on the slice but was met with a mouthful of barely toasted pasta. The pasta itself brought a rather mild taste that could've been replaced with a more flavorful option. Just planning on grabbing a few slices, I look through the window and the men behind the counter were a little aggressive with each other and barely cared I was there. Once I got someone's attention I grabbed 4 slices. When the man told me 24 dollars I was shocked. 6 bucks a slice for very very mediocre pizza. Shockingly the plain slice was the best. Stick with plain or pepperoni if you absolutely have to come here. The chicken Marsala was terrible, just oily and tasteless. The grilled chicken vodka just had an off taste to it and the dough itself was raw - and I got an end piece so imagine the middle slices. The nonna slice was the second best but the chunky tomato sauce was actual chunks, like quarters of tomato in the sauce. [A decade later... it's time for a 'review renovation'.] In a strip mall that's had so many businesses fail rather quickly (from Mooyah to Perkin's to 9 Round) it's all the more impressive that Mr. Bruno's is just-shy of celebrating 60 years in the biz. (Who knew they're actually a wee bit older than Angelo's on Ridge Road just a few blocks away?) For me - they've always been overpriced and their Sicilian (despite the hype and accolades) was overrated - so we don't get here all that often. But one of my kids has become a recent convert so it was time to give them another whirl. Their plain pie harkens back to the old-school days (when an entire pizza was only $7) - kind of doughy and floury and hefty. Not too oily/greasy. Good flavor all around. Not flashy but an honest pizza that does what it's supposed to. The cavatelli-and-broccoli (running about $5 more than their competitors) was a letdown. The portion size was okay but not enough flavor. And their garlic knots? Decadently good. Liquor license. Live entertainment (at times). Decent-sized dining room(s). Parking lot (easier to find a spot here than in the other 'half' by TJ Maxx and GameStop). I had the chicken rollatini and my coworker had a calzone. Their calzone came out pretty fast, but my chicken didn't come out for 18 minutes after the calzone. It was awkward. After about 15 minutes I flagged my waiter down and asked about my meal. He didn't know what I had ordered and took a while to go figure it out. I guess to appease me he brought bread and butter to the table. I have no idea if we were supposed to get that at the beginning of our meal or not. Giving them an extra star up from my last rating, based on the fact that they're still operational during this seemingly never-ending crisis, and the food is still very good. I haven't been in a long time, not through any conscious decision on my part but simply because circumstances were such that I didn't happen to be in this particular area when it was time to eat. Last week, I was helping my birth mother with her laundry (as I usually do), she was picking up the tab for lunch (as she usually does), and when she mentioned Mr. Bruno's as a possible spot to eat at, I readily agreed. There was some dining outside (although the space seems limited), and indoor seating was also available. We sat in the indoor restaurant portion (as opposed to the more brightly lit pizzeria section). Masks were worn; social distancing wasn't a problem. My birth mother ordered gnocchi (which she has trouble pronouncing; I'm not much better--- the waiter told her to use the word "know" and pronounce it "know-cchi."). As always, she liked her dish. I had the lasagna (my oldest friend has told me that when I pass on from this vale of tears, he's going to have a picture of a plate of lasagna put up on my tombstone instead of an epitaph-- presuming he outlives me, that is). The waiter mentioned they were training a new chef, but I found the dish as tasty and filling as always. In the past, I would order a soup, a side of sausage, and the main dish (not always lasagna; I've liked their chicken parmigiana and spaghetti as well). However, in deference to the reality that what used to be a cast-iron stomach is no longer cast-iron, and that I can't eat anymore like I was 17 years old still, I'm trying to be a bit more moderate in how I dine. But, I've enjoyed everything I've ordered here, the service is friendly and efficient, and that's still the case, in spite of the difficulties that this restaurant and all restaurants are facing now. I'm not sure what's going on here, but last two visits were not enjoyable. Ever since they went under new management the quality of the food and taste are not the same. I always loved their stuffed artichoke appetizer, but this was not like prior and was very salty. It was undercooked as well. My Three Musketeers chicken, veal, and shrimp francese was loaded with salt and the shrimp were gritty. I wasn't sure if I was crunching on sand or salt particles. The Linguine Mr Bruno was good, but the scungilli was over cooked and rubbery. Eggplant rollatini was ok; however, the pasta on my dish and the eggplant was cold and rubbery. For the prices you pay here, I would expect quality food. I surely hope these are kinks being worked out otherwise they will lose a customer who has been loyal to this place for 30 years. read more

In a town with 10+ average pizza places Mr. Bruno's is as good as the next place. There is one slice that sets it apart and is worth driving to try - the white Sicilian with spinach and garlic. I've never seen this anyplace else or tried a "specialty" slice that was this amazing. You look at this creation and think will this all work and it does! Sicilian slices don't reheat well so order it extra hot/ well done or order an entire pie of this supreme goodness. It's a 6 star slice in a 3 star restaurant. read more

Mr. Bruno's is pleasantly deceptive. You walk in and think it's just a takeout pizzeria, especially because everything takes your field of view leftwards to the takeout counter. But if you look to the right, it opens up to a full sit down restaurant that harkens memories of my childhood in Italian restaurants. Not only does Mr. Bruno's open up to a full sit down experience, but also has a full bar with good quality wines and spirits, and you find people hanging out there for happy hour, or chilling on a Friday evening... Definitely not what you would expect for a pizzeria. Now the food... First the pizza. Their pizza takes me back to my childhood of New York pizza. Their dough yields an airy, pillowy, and crunchy crust on the round pizza; while the square pizza evokes memories of 1980's pizza hut deep dish before they changed it and made it MEH. This is a good thing. It's perfectly crisp on the outside, soft inside, has a perfect mouth feel, and a great taste. I recommend the Mr. Bruno's Special in the square variety... You're welcome! Next are the entrees... I have yet to have anything that I didn't like. Actually, everything I've had has been great! For me, the measure of an Italian restaurant is how they make broccoli rabe. Broccoli rabe requires a certain touch, when made right, it's one of the best things you've ever had; but, when not made correctly, the bitterness can make you look like a baby sucking on a lemon for the first time. At Mr. Bruno's, they have the touch, and make broccoli rabe just right! Their chicken Murphy is amongst the best I've ever had... Interestingly enough, the mushrooms steal the show. Every bite tastes great, but then you get a mushroom, and it ties the dish together (and I'm a real carnivore)! The chicken Sorrentino and Mr. Bruno's chicken are also great! Additionally, the Mr. Bruno's shrimp, which is stuffed with crab meat, is excellent. All in all, I've never had a bad meal, nor a bad experience. They go out of their way to treat you great, and the food is great! Get their sangria, or order a nice glass of wine (they even have Malbec, which is a testament to their selection) for the optimal experience. I highly recommend! read more

I have been a customer for 30+ years until tonight. Previous ownership actually cared about customer service and understood how important word of mouth was to the success of their business. This is no longer the case. The last 5 times that I ordered for pick up I did not receive what I ordered. I ask for very well done pizza and it comes barely cooked. I order salad without carrots because I'm allergic and they pile on twice the amount. I ask for a large soda and they give me 2 small or a large bottle and I get a large fountain soda instead. I ask for sauce on the side because it's for a child and you could make another meal with the amount of sauce poured directly on the kids pasta. I'm not going to spend money and get the wrong order so I then have to wait to have it made again or put it back in to cook it more. Tonight I was told to no longer come there. Why? Because I cause a problem when I don't get what I want. When I asked why he thought it was ok for me not to get what I ordered, he said he thought my food was fine the way it was and that was that. If you want your food cooked to your liking, do not go to Mr. Brunos. If you you have an allergy, definitely do not go to Mr. Brunos unless you're willing to deal with the repercussion of having a reaction. No matter how many times you tell them your order and no matter how simple your request, they do as they feel. Save your hard-earned money and go somewhere the owner cares about the quality of their food can actually get your order correct. This isn't an isolated incident; it's chronic. Mr. Brunos will no longer be receiving the orders I place for my daughters school, sporting events, or parties. They will no longer get the large orders I place from work or the referral I gave them weekly to local businesses hosting functions or looking for something close. I will no longer have our girl's night out or our family dinners with 6+ people that we often do at Mr. Brunos. To be treated so disrespectfully was foolish because I'm not just one person having a problem with my order. I'm one person who sends tons of business and thousands of dollars toward local businesses that deserve it and the money I have sent toward Mr. Brunos will now go elsewhere. read more

The way it was packaged the entire bag was dripping with marsala sauce, a total mess. The pasta on the side was drenched in tomato sauce, more sauce than pasta.
