    a spoon and a sandwich

I wanted to check out the food because it smelled good. However it's evident he's not at all hygienic given the other reviews. He gives you a spoon with a slice of bread and napkin with your order. My spoon was already very dirty and the napkin was from some random country club. Even the ziploc bag it came in was very dirty. I don't even want to try the food and take the risk based on what other people are saying.

I couldn't believe I'd never reviewed it before so I wanted to do so following another delicious brunch at Joyce today. From the moment we sat down, the service was impeccable. Our table never lacked for tea, water, coffee, etc. Foster took great care of us (and shout out to Nick who's also provided amazing service to us there). The Bloody Mary was the first thing to blow my mind. It was absolutely delicious and maybe my new favorite Bloody Mary in LA. It made me wish I'd Ubered. But I also had some wonderful hot, Earl Grey tea. I love how they present it to the table. We covered a lot of ground and no notes. We had the caviar with crème fraîche and truffle kettle chips, a seafood platter that , the fried green tomatoes - which I will order every time I'm there, and the Dungeness crab and rock shrimp Benedict. The dining room itself is beautiful--comfortable, stylish, and inviting. When you look around the room there, it feels like every table in there is celebrating something. In a city overflowing with brunch options, it's surprisingly rare to find a place where the food, service, atmosphere, and pacing all work together so seamlessly. It was one of those meals that reminds you why dining out can still feel special.

There is a small seating area, and the seats weren't particularly comfortable, but the space seems intended more for a quick stop rather than a long sit-down meal. On the positive side, the service was very kind and friendly. However, overall the food was disappointing.

The new restaurant is beautiful - clean and very inviting with fun wall art and a bar. Their old location didn't have much seating and I'm glad this new spot has lots of tables. I came with friends on a Friday and it was very lively and packed. The best part of Annie's is of course the food and the value continues to deliver. A meal typically includes a meat and 3 sides and the portions are huge. Our party of 3 was more than full sharing 2 dishes including 6 sides. The short rib was so tender and the wings and cat fish were also very flavorful. In the past I also liked their oxtail a lot and I can't wait to come back and get that next time. You really can't go wrong with any of the sides but we ordered the Candied Yams, Fried Okra, Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese, Corn Bread Dressing, and Greens with Smoked Turkey. The Mac and Cheese is probably my favorite but the Fried Okra is a close second and it's hard to find that in LA so I would recommend getting it. Make sure to also save room for peach cobbler or banana pudding - both are tasty!!

Pictures show cultural and imaginary images, very eclectic. They provided complimentary mini corn muffins with an addictive butter. We munched on those until the food came out. We each ordered a variation of their meats and sides. My 3 friends consensus on their meals was good on most of their dishes. 1st meal-Wings, cabbage/greens mix, yams, Mac n cheese 2nd meal- Lemon pepper fish, cabbage/greens mix, yams, Brussel sprouts 3rd meal-Fried chicken, cabbage/greens mix, yams, Mac n cheese I ordered lemon pepper shrimp, greens, brussel sprouts, Mac n cheese. My plate was cool. The lemon pepper shrimp were soft not crunchy and grainy with the bite. My greens lacked flavor, I wish I got the cabbage/greens mix like the others. We all ordered different flavors of the kool-aid. They were all tasty.

Luckily, while out in LA in close proximity to Chinatown, the husband was reminded of Little Jewel. There was no question where we were headed next. We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in and handed some menus. We were told to take our time, which was needed since everything sounded so good and the husband kept changing his mind on what to order. We finally settled on the Spicy Creole Jambalaya, Craw Mac Deluxe and The Crabster. It all came out hot, fresh and so satisfyingly delicious! The spice level was perfect. Portions were generous. We had initially planned on having beignets but did not have any more room -- even the dessert pocket was full! The atmosphere is very relaxed. Head to head, I think I prefer the flavors and juiciness of Gus's fried chicken. I'll have to give Willie Mae's another go to confirm that this is indeed the case. But Willie Mae's is situated in a better area, it's got civilized sit down table service, cuter decor, and it has way better sides. When they opened in the westside, I believe it was a take out only situation. Since I do not live in the area, it was not a convenient situation. During this recent DineLA restaurant week, I met a friend there for lunch. Now they have a fairly large sit down dining room that was quite busy and it seems like there was a steady stream of takeout. Our server, Desiree was fantastic. She told me this branch was started by the same folks of the original in New Orleans. Due to a an issue with the freeway closure and horrible traffic, we were very late and she kindly honored our reservation. The food was fantastic. Great crunchy and spice on the chicken (it is on the spicy side so be careful if you cannot handle the heat). The little corn breads were just the right amount. We tried the yams, which is a must, but also shared some of the other sides. The cabbage is cooked kind of like collard greens. The butter beans and rice is very tasty. We also tried the mashed potatoes and gravy. All sides are vegan, which I thought was done for the local L.A. crowd, but we were told the sides are vegan in the original recipes. Next time I'd like to try the gumbo and other dishes on the menu.

Bludso's brisket is tender and marinated just right. While some briskets are too salty, Bludso's maintains a light and balanced flavor profile, which lets me enjoy the flavor of the beef. However, be warned that some leaner cuts might be a tad bit dry. The pork ribs were also great. although they weren't "fall off the bone" soft, it's still one of the best ones I've had in LA. The sides were also good. They weren't mind blowing but they were definitely comforting. Overall, Bludso's is a great BBQ spot that I would come to again and again. Definitely one of the best in LA.
