On Christmas Eve day, our furnace broke. We had no heat for the holidays! My husband and some family tried everything they could think of before we called a professional. I searched yelp, called them at 10:30 am - they arrived at 12:30 pm and by 1:00 pm we were up and running again. The part price seemed reasonable $125. The cost for them coming out was $79 and that seemed reasonable too, just to troubleshoot. I am really happy with them. Friendly knowledgable guy. He even pointed out what would most likely be the problem in the future (a part was starting to go bad). He was In and out quickly. I would recommend and use them again. read more

I found Mr. Duct through a Yelp search after my furnace stopped working. Overall I was very happy. I actually rent out my townhouse so it's important to me that the companies I use are flexible in scheduling time with the tenants as I cannot easily be at the property. The scheduling through Mr. Duct was seamless and the appointment timing was prompt. With the winters in Chicago, the turnaround on a furnace issue needs to be as fast as possible and they definitely met the expectation of an immediate turnaround. As far as the actual repairs, I was pleased with what they found. Mr. Duct actually pointed out that a previous repair was done with the wrong ignitor part which caused the issue to happen again. The prices seemed reasonable compared to what I'd spent previously to fix the same issue and I feel much better now that I have the OEM part in the furnace (finicky Lennox). However, the thermostat was also not working and happened at the same time as the furnace going out. The tenant and I both agreed that this likely wasn't a coincidence so I wasn't worried about replacing the thermostat. At the end of the day, the thermostat worked just fine after replacing the ignitor in the furnace. The reason for taking away a star is because of the communication on the thermostat. While the rep from Mr. Duct took credit for pointing out the safety feature of the thermostat, I discovered that the actual technician was going to just replace it and charge me. Had it not been for the tenant suggesting the furnace fix first, I might have been charged to replace a working part. Overall though, the experience was pleasant and I would use them again. I highly recommend this company for your duct and vent cleaning. They were prompt, friendly, and did a fantastic job!

I was a customer for 5 years. Every year they did my furnace clean and check. They recommended that I ran the furnace for a few days prior to them coming out for the clean and check. This year it turned on but wasn't heating. Instead of the normal $99 clean and check fee they charged me $119 for a service call. They determined the issue to be with the igniter and charged me $195 to fix on top of the service call fee. 2 months later and it was doing the same thing. It would work intermittently. I had them come out again but since it was working they couldn't pinpoint the problem with certainty. They "suggested" I replace the gas valve for $482. After paying $314 and still having the same issue I refused to do so especially since they weren't even sure that it was the issue since it was working at the time. They still charged me another $119 service call and suggested that next time it starts acting up I "bang the gas valve with a wrench". A few days later and it was out again. Since I complained they came back out for "free" but wouldn't you know the damn thing was working again. This time they said they weren't getting a reading from a different part but that before I did anything I should have a chimney/roofing company come out and check the venting as maybe the pipe was frozen over...but they don't handle that. I lost confidence in them so I switched to a different company. If they service the furnace once and it breaks down again they shouldn't charge a fee to come back out. Some companies give you guarantees that if they perform the annual clean and check they won't charge you if they have to come back out to service it. read more

I want to send out kudos to Ignacio of this company. We have been having problems with our cooling this spring so far and no one had successfully isolated the problem. We did need freon and valves needed replacement and tightening, but the airflow through our ducts was still abysmal. Ignacio to the rescue! He fairly quickly isolated the problem and in no time at all had the coils cleaned and voila, the flow through our ducts is now wonderful and the house is a very comfortable temperature. I originally left a 5-star review after a positive experience with this company in cleaning out my air duct and installing two bird cages. The men who came out to do the work were wonderful. I am changing my review based on a very negative follow-up experience. One of the two bird cages fell off my siding after a year. I called to see if Mr. Duct would install a new one. I was even willing to pay for another cage, even though the first one clearly wasn't attached securely. I was told that not only did I have to pay for another $100 bird cage, but I also had to pay $300 to have my dryer duct cleaned before they would install it. I told the person on the phone that the vent was not attached to a dryer duct. It is actually just a vent to my attic with no duct behind it, and that everything had been cleaned the year before. The woman told me that didn't matter. and that I would still have to pay to have a dryer duct cleaned if I wanted another bird cage installed. I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life! The work was not done correctly the first time, and now they want me to pay $400 to fix their mistake. read more

I finally understood how these coupons really work... they will nickel and dime you till the end. The two guys that came out to work my vents were very knowledgeable and extremely nice. They explained everything to me. I was very satisfied with the job they did would highly recommend them to anyone. Called Mr. Duct to have our dryer vent cleaned. The person on the phone was very nice. Two techs showed up early. Introduced them selfs and got right to work. The starting CFM from the dryer was .7 and 22.5 when they were done. They cleaned up everything. Nice guys great job. read more

I have an old air conditioner, I was dreading having to replace. I used Mr Duct to have my ducts and dryer vents cleaned last winter and they did a great job so I called them again for the air conditioner. I have breathing problems and can't go without air conditioning, they came within 1 day and fixed it, when it went out again they sent a supervisor out the next day and he got it working. They never charged me for the service calls, and made sure it was working. The price was very reasonable and Cesar and Nick were professional and knowledgeable. They are always on time. If you have an old air conditioner this is the company you should call they won't automatically try to sell you a new air conditioner. read more

They were also very responsive when I called back to find out how to install my air filter. They had someone call me back right away; and he walked me through the process very patiently.
