I had a tight schedule while I was in town to get a 50+ year old deteriorating wood fence and gate removed and replaced. After getting several quotes and recommendations, I went with Michael Kelly, owner of Mr. Fence, to remove the 60 ft long wood fence used to separate 2 adjacent properties and replace it with a more economical chain link fence. I chose Michael because he was responsive and willing to readjust his work schedule to meet my short time frame. His pricing was also very fair and competitive for the scope of work. After the site visit and getting his formal quote, Michael and his crew was able to start work within 2 days on a Saturday. David did a great job in removing the wood fence, installing the new support posts in concrete, and cleaning up afterwards on the first day. Michael came 2-3 days later after the concrete had time to fully cure to install the chain link to the support posts and install a new gate. Throughout the process, Michael was open and accommodating to my thoughts and ideas to ensure the finished product met my expectations. He also helped me with some related minor "handyman" type repairs that was well beyond his scope of work which were much appreciated. Michael made sure the work was done right and to my satisfaction. Michael and Jimmy did a very nice job installing an aluminum fence around my property. Their pricing was reasonable. Michael was very calm and reassuring whenever we ran into a problem. He talked me through the different options, so that I understood them. This is the first yard I've had as an adult, so I wasn't sure what to choose other than I wanted something similar as the other portion of the fence (installed by previous owners). I ended up going with cedar to match the other sides, but chose treated wood posts because Michael explained that these would last longer than the cedar posts on the other portion of the fence. He explained that they wouldn't match exactly, so there would be a trade off and I decided I wanted the posts to last longer and it was OK that they wouldn't match exactly. Michael made sure to have the power company out to mark the places where the gas lines ran. Mr. Fence is one of the worst if not the worst contractors/subcontractors we have ever used. They are dishonest, untrustworthy, and unprofessional. Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND. I'm honestly not quite sure how they have any good reviews, but the negative reviews seem accurate after our experience. After making our initial 50% deposit with planned fence installation in the spring of 2023, our existing fence fell during a snowstorm in December 2023. We had asked for a temporary fence placement as the fence is on an alley and protects our lower level bedrooms and although temp fence placement repeatedly delayed, Mr. Fence did eventually put up the temp panels. These metal panels were placed with poor quality and fell spontaneously (caught on security camera) onto a passing car. After consulting with our insurance group, we were advised to have Mr. Fence's insurance discuss directly with the complainant's insurance - after this, Mr. Fence increasingly avoided us and no-showed for fence installation 8 times. After countless unanswered emails/phone calls, hours of wasted time and consistently no-showing over the span of several weeks, the fence was reluctantly installed months later. After final fence installation we were happy to be finally done with them. Unfortunately, soon after installation one of our gates wasn't latching appropriately and there was a split board - we reached back out to Mr. Fence as there is a two year warranty. This time they've no-showed on us 6 times and have gone completely silent - no returned emails, no returned calls. I am beyond disappointed with Mr. Fence. Really I am appalled at their morals, customer service and quality. I would absolutely AVOID them at all costs, it is not worth the headache and clearly a waste of hard earned money and precious time. read more

We hired Mr. Fence to replace our existing fence. The fence itself looks great - we're on a corner and get plenty of compliments on it daily, but it's Michael's communication that earns him my recommendation. In the end of February 2023 I scheduled work with "Mr. Fence" a small porch or landing with a few stairs (up/down) that connects the front sidewalk with the back sidewalk made out of wood (simple yet efficient landing). Michael (owner) states he was booked for a few months out until around May at the time I agree to his services. I like the reviews and the price was fair so I was like OK great, I can wait since it's still cold etc. A week before May I email owner and state it's getting close to May and does he have a better timeline so I can get prepared, etc.. Owner states that everyone is backing out of his jobs or cancelling and it's been a rough start to the season etc.. so we go back and forth and I start getting a bit worried as now in mid May we are IN THE SEASON of summer home improvements and ask again for a concrete date, a few weeks and after I ask my final time what is status, he states, I can start May 30th. I get back a few days later and state OK if you can still do May 30th please confirm as this will work. On May 25th he confirms that the following Tuesday is confirmed and works. So on Tuesday May 30th, no one shows up, no call, no e-mail and no response to me asking where are people as it was after 10AM. 5PM roles around and, no call, no e-mail nothing - just completely blew me off. I should have figured from the poor responses he gave earlier just trying to get a date. Really frustrating to be ghosted when your trying to throw money at someone and they blow you off after confirming the time 5 days prior. I would not waste my time with this guy unless you want to play phone/email tag until he blows you off after confirming. read more
