I can't say anything bad about George from Mr. Fix-It he arrived on schedule, and after I explained my problem, he proceeded to disassemble my dryer. He found not only one problem, but several problems including a loose wire, and a bad door switch. After reassembly the dryer powered up which took care of the initial problem. However, the machine would not start. After George investigated further, he found that the motherboard was no longer working properly, and after some discussion it was decided that the cost to make all the repairs was more than the machine was worth so I'm going to scrap the dryer and get a new one. George worked over an hour on my machine so the cost must be astronomical right? No George only charged me $75.00. read more

I actually called them to fix my ancient Magic Chef refrigerator, it had a particular type of digital timer, which are not made anymore. It took me a few months to determine that it was actually the timer that had gone bad, The unit kept on going into long defrost cycles. Although he didn't have access to the part that I needed, he pointed me to where I could either look for a new refrigerator or find the part myself, and I actually found the part at an appliance parts warehouse up in Escondido. He was perfectly fine installing the part for me but then he discovered that I required a new fan so he jury rigged a brand new fan for me at a reasonable cost, at a price much lower than what I was expecting. My girlfriend and I each have food allergies and I am between jobs right now, so we cook all our meals out of necessity. I called Mr. Fix-It based on a good referral from a friend. I called right when they opened and Jose was very helpful and able to come out and look at the washing machine the same day. I was upset because it was full of water and wouldn't drain. He did prepare me with what the problem may be and said he would know when he looked at it. Unfortunately, without going into all of it, he stayed about an hour and tested the pump, etc. His price was very reasonable, but it ended up that my 4 year old LG washer had an expensive problem, and probably more to follow since it was constantly unbalanced. Jose followed up by discussing it more with his boss, George, and said they agreed on the problem. Don't trust this guy.... I used him for years and years and gave him so much business, when he was starting out. I never had any reason to doubt him ,as most people wouldn't. He comes across as very charismatic and to be truthful he is knowledgeable. To be exact, my property management business has given him over $89k in jobs/business over the years. Anyway the falling out today occurred because my partner who is out of town had his tenant call George to schedule to have their dryer repaired (My partner and I both used George a lot). The tenant called several times and contacted me after to say George wasn't getting back to him and was too busy. The tenant took it upon himself to call a different appliance repair guy (Without my knowledge) to see about getting a quote for the repair. On Monday, 5 days after speaking with George, the tenant said I have a quote (From One Way Repair) for the repair, and it will cost $80 ($20 in parts and $60 in labor). I told the tenant to just have his guy repair it and that I would pay him directly (Because it seemed George was too busy). A few hours later I get a call from George (Who must have finally gotten back to the tenant), who says "why are you using other guys". I said the tenant wasn't getting a response from you so he got a bid himself. George said he had the part and was ready to repair it. I said well its a bit late because I already told the tenant to have it fixed..... George responded "I am not very happy" and I am very busy and don't need this. I said George I am sorry but the tenant got the price and this is simply the situation..... Just before hanging up I said George, what was it going to cost. George said the belt was going to be $20 and labor $100, so $120 out the door. I explained to George that the guy off the street with One Way Repair will do it for $80 out the door (your 50% higher). After using George for over 6 years and probably at least once a week, this is how he repays me. It gets worse though.,.... George emails me invoices the next day (For different jobs) as he always does. there was a different job that he did, where he replaced a dishwasher for $560. one of the several invoices was an invoice for $55 at the same address as the dishwasher install. the invoice said found plastic in garbage disposal, took it apart found plastic bottle cap in disposal... nothing wrong with the disposal. So I call the tenant and said i am sorry, but you will be required to pay this $55 invoice for the plastic in the disposal. The tenant freaks out and says, George put his flashlight down the disposal and pulled the plastic out while he was there installing the dishwasher (Never took anything apart). George bold face lied on his invoice. Even though the plastic is something the tenant shouldn't have put down there, should he really be charging one of his best clients $55 for pulling a bottle cap out of a disposal (Which took less than a minute)? Of course if there was a trip involved i would totally understand, but George was there already replacing a dishwasher for $560. I call George immediately and ask him why he is charging me $55 for a few minutes of his time (When he is there already)... he says, you know what I am so busy and etc.. and I have so many jobs.... this is what i charge. This job was done before him and I discussed the job above with the dryer. He has no class or any moral. I have been with him for so long, trusting, and this is how he repays me..... makes me sick (especially his attitude... "i don't need you now"). I would avoid this guy at any cost. This guy used to come into my office every week with donuts and coffee cuz he needed business... now he is like F you. Terrible 2 stars because he knows what he is doing...... terrible, because he will one up you any chance he can. read more

It may seem odd, but George didn't come over to help out and fix my dishwasher. When we first spoke he told me his fee's and was about to set up an appointment. We spoke about my dishwasher which was a little old and needed some fixing. He asked numerous questions, gave feedback and was honest about everything. We spoke for about 30 minutes and he told me how things should be done; what brands to avoid, how to save money by having stores help with the installation and more info about my needs. He fixed the control panel on my oven that broke and I couldn't bake at all which I do often so I was eager to get it fixed. He said it might have been a fluke but he would check out everything just to make sure. Our microhood hadn't been working right since it was installed about 4 years ago. It would turn completely off (no power) after 5 mins. So, I found Mr. Fix It on Yelp and called. He asked for the brand and model of the unit, which I provided. He called me back the next morning and said that it would cost about $200 to fix and I could get a new one for that. He said he was still more than happy to come look at it and he would fix it, but financially, it would probably be better to buy one. He could have just collected his money and not said anything. Customer service is always iffy in SoCal, so I was pleasantly surprised with my encounter with Georgie from Mr. Fix It Appliance Repair. He was prompt, extremely personable, knowledgeable and even went above and beyond calling an hour before to remind me he was coming to repair my dryer. I usually wait hours and hours for repair people, wondering when they are actually going to come, and repairs are usually long and drawn out, but Georgie fixed my dryer in about a half hour. I have used Mr. Fix It's services when needed, since 2003. Both George and I started our small businesses around that time, and my business involves providing 'referrals' to OTHER people. I refer George without hesitation - to clients, friends, relatives and neighbors. He has also fixed things at my personal house. Washer, dryer, dishwasher. I find that George is responsive (email or phone or text), friendly, fast, knowledgeable, fairly priced (try calling a large appliance repair service and see what happens)... and honest. He will tell you when something is not worth fixing (but has a right to charge for the service call... that's business). Once in awhile, a business relationship can go sour through mis communication and other factors but I hope people look at all these positive reviews as well. Originally called Mr Fix It a few years back after he had been recommended to us by a family friend to look into a microwave/hood that was giving us problems at our condo. We left a voice mail on his machine and within hours I received a call back from George and was able to schedule him to come out the next day. When he showed up the following day he was pleasant and polite. He noticed that we took our shoes off at the door and immediately asked if he should do the same! He inspected the microwave and had the issue fixed right away and at a very reasonable price. We never had a problem with the microwave after that so when our dishwasher started to act up we called George to diagnose/repair it. Again, he was very professional and did an excellent job for us. We recently purchased a house and kept the old condo as a rental. George has been our go to guy for any appliance repair needs we've had.
