This boba place has a real authentic feel to it. While some of the tapioca drink chains seem real antiseptic to me, Mr. Green Bubble has some personality. It has a cool vibe in the dining room, with a bunch of board games available to play. Plus, it's very popular; if you come in, be prepared to wait for your drinks. Every time I've walked by, it's been packed with folks, both drinking in or waiting for to-go orders. They all can't be wrong! Finally, my wife & I walked in the other day. The line wasn't too long, so we ordered an earl gray milk tea (for her) and a lychee tea with tapioca (for me). But the staff was working hard, b/c one of the customers in front of us ordered (no joke) 8 drinks to go. Eventually, the 2 guys at the counter finished her drinks, and then got ours up as soon as they could. By the time we walked out, the line to order was out the door! Even with the wait, the drinks were worth it. The drink wasn't too sweet on it's own, but the tapioca pearls had a lot more flavor than I'm used to. It seems pricey at first glance but then you realize that all sizes are a large. Man and I have never had bubble tea like this before. Real tea and real milk instead of the powdered stuff. I got a jasmine milk tea and I could tell it was real tea. That is a rarity and something praiseworthy for a boba shop as it's been a while since I've had that experience. I've only been here twice, but I'd say it's the best milk tea place around the Berkeley area. Too bad I don't have a car...I can only make it here once in a blue moon. Their bento box was delicious! I had one with an assortment of popcorn chicken and sweet potato fries. It had large portions and I would definitely order it again. The popcorn chicken has a great chicken to flour ratio. In fact, it has so much delicious chicken and barely any flour around it, so it doesn't make you feel as bad when you eat it. It's also the perfect level of spiciness. I've had a good experience with the customer service at Mr. Green Bubble and I like that their drinks are fairly priced (you get a pretty big cup!), but the flavors of their drinks are just okay. I ordered a couple bubble milk teas and they tasted watered down with barely any tea taste. They know how to cook their tapioca though. If you come here often, you can opt in their rewards program and it's neat how you can redeem prizes like tote bags or a shirt instead of the usual free drink. read more

One of my favorite boba shops in the Bay Area! Vanilla yogurt was overrated but for milk tea quality and variety I loved Mr. Green Bubble! The Hojicha milk tea (half sweet) had a rich and robust tea black tea flavor I've never had before. I would have ordered the mango milk tea or mango milk but they don't use 100% fresh mangoes. There were some other really interesting and less common brews of tea I've never seem before including Assam and Brown Milk. I still prefer the egg custard at Purple Kow (inner Richmond) and like their specialty drinks (ice milk and tea crema) but can't wait to return and try the other flavors at Mr Green Bubble like the brown milk tea. read more

I was disappointed lavender milk tea since it didn't really taste like lavender and at first got confused with my friend's black tea. The calamari rings of level 4 spiciness were delicious. The big rings of calamari were juicy and crispy on the outside. The level of spiciness was a level that kept you coming back for more. The boba/pearls were so bad that I didn't finish them. The tea itself was a little bit better, but I wouldn't get it again. My friend really liked his Thai Iced Tea, but it wasn't my cup of TEA. Mr Green Bubble is one of my favorite boba places on this side of the Bay. I adore their little green mascot. There is a wide selection of drinks so whether it's milk/tea drinks, smoothies, or fruit drinks that you're craving for, chances are quite high that Mr Green Bubble has it. Take a chance and try something new each time you visit. I'm a big fan of their flavored tea drinks. I have gotten rose green honey tea, rose black tea, and peach black milk tea. Terrible customer service. Accidentally ordered from the wrong location and called them within 10 minutes to let them know it was an accident. The manager was very rude and refused to refund my 30 dollar order because she would have been "losing the store money". After yelping this place for about 10 minutes, I settled with the early grey milk tea because that's what everyone recommended. After trying it, it's hard to say if I love it or hate it. The drink was kinda of too sweet for my taste. I couldn't really taste the tea. I wish I tried to the green tea instead because the aroma of green tea in my drink is better. The boba was just too hard. I think my mouth was tired of chewing the boba. FIND PARKING FOR THIS PLACE SUCKS. That is all. I probably would have been more happy if I didn't had to drive for 10 minutes to find parking. Oh, the boba is also on the pricey side. Best Bobba in the bay area. We have an iTea in our town, but if I have a chance to stop by MGB - Piedmont or Walnut Creek - I will. I usually get the traditional milk tea with Boba and my kids get a variety of drinks... I like that their flavorings are not too artificial tasting. What makes them different is the boba... it's always soft and chewy - better than the other places by far. The food is good, the waffle puffs are pretty tasty... the rest of the menu is ok - similar to the other shops. You have to order in advance via the app right now. This is becoming a staple boba tea place for me recently as it's quite close to my home. I often just order the classic milk tea (with black tea and boba), no ice or 25% ice and 50% sugar -- haven't really tried most other stuff, like flavored teas or smoothies. Their salt and pepper chicken is pretty tasty when it's right off the fryer, and the fried calamari could be cut into smaller pieces. They have Fivestars loyalty program console, I have collected quite some points and it accumulates to some free drinks, but it's a bit unclear to me how to use them, nor their staff ever suggest/notify you off your perks, this can probably be improved. read more

Horrible customer service and drinks. Came in with my friend and when she asked for recommendations, the cashier said "the milk tea" and nothing else. She was like a robot with no personality. Now, onto the actual drinks. As a SoCal native, my boba standards are relatively high. The boba was too soft and not the right consistency, which already put me off. On top of poorly cooked boba, the mango lychee green tea I ordered was flavorless and had no sugar whatsoever. Yes I ordered it with 50% sugar but there should be some sugar in it ! I also tried my friend's peach passion green tea and AGAIN it was bland in flavor and sugarless. Both of our drinks basically taste the same: straight up pure green tea. A green, clean boba shop with lots of drink options and Taiwanese snacks/food. I got a drink and meal for around $10 and the quality was good! I had a jasmine green milk tea, and the boba was sweet and good texture. Sweetness can be customized. For food I had a chicken katsu, and it came with rice and vegetables. There was a lot of chicken, and it was breaded and fried just right. Still juicy and seasoned well with pepper. This would be a good place to hang with friends since they have a lot of board games. There is also some space to study too. One of the higher quality boba stops I've tried in the East Bay! read more

I am a regular at this place. I probally come every week or so. Their boba tea is amazing. I like my Mango Black Tea with Agar and mango jelly + 50% sweet. It's really good. My mom usually gets a Honey Lemon Green Tea with lemon slices, aloe and mango jelly. She loves this place as well. They always get her drink on point. My sister usually loves their strawberry lemonade with rainbow jelly. She also loves this place. Once in awhile i order the garlic fries. They are a bit sweet, but make sure if you like it spicy tell them!! The seasoning doesn't really bind to the fries so try to put it in a plate when you get home. Went here last night with a friend and the drink is good but it's not hella good to the point that would make me come back if I'm craving boba. When we got their the register guy was super nice but not attentive enough because he got our orders wrong. We both said no boba but ended up with boba so we asked kindly to have them just strain it but the girl we asked was super annoyed by our request. I had gotten a tarp green milk tea so of course my drink is but see through and I didn't finish my drink until I got into bed watching tv in the dark. Woke up to find that the freaking blender too was in my cup the whole damn time!!! I swear I though it was a joke but the top was still sealed!!!!! Soooo gross I will never come back. I almost always come here at least once a week for my weekly boba fix. Mostly because it's so close to where I work and go to school. Compared to a lot of other places that serve milk tea, their milk tea actually tastes like tea!! When they're not busy, they actually take the time to make your drink and it shows. I'd rather wait that extra couple minutes for a perfectly fresh brewed tea than have a quickie done. I've been lucky that most of the time when I come in, I'm either the only person or one of 2 or 3 people so I get great service every time. Also if atmosphere aesthetics are your thing then this place will knock your artistic sensing socks off! The store is really clean and has a modern look. A great place to hang out and socialize with friends even if you're not craving boba or drinks. p.s. They're part of Belly rewards so stock up on rewards if you plan on coming here often. read more

I've had a boba drink one other time at public market, which ruined these for me. It was so sugary and gross there! Today, I decided to try it again since my housemate wanted a boba tea instead of our usual fro-yo treat after a morning of errands. I got the matcha green milk tea with boba and soy. So amazing they have soy for an option with these! The taste was amazing, the tea as well as the little tapioca balls. It left me wanting more honestly, despite the large size! Sitting in the cafe, sipping on my drink was really relaxing. Good environment with comfy seating and not too much noise! Our drinks were made hella fast as well. The only complaint is the $5.00 card minimum. My drink came to a little over 4! Start running debit! I usually only carry a few dollars around for tipping, which didn't happen today because of the lame minimum, since I had to borrow two bucks from my housemate. Get with the rest of 2014, guys! Plus, I'm pretty sure you legally can't do that. The drinks and atmosphere get 5 stars, but the card minimum thing is bs. read more

Mr. Green Bubble is an alright place. It's like any other boba place, nothing special about their drinks. I got the honey milk tea. I didn't think the tea tasted that strong kinda watery sweet tea. Kinda reminds me of Arizona Iced Tea drinks you can find at convenience stores. My friend a hot milk tea with boba. It wasn't that bad. Tasted stronger than my drink. There is a lot of space to hang around with a group of friends. My friend and I came at night and parking was kinda hard to find probably because Fentons was across the street from Mr. Green Bubble. We came around 8:30pm and it was semi-empty, but as it was getting later around 10pm the place got packed. People were constantly coming in and out. The atmosphere was very loud and lively. I would probably come back to try the regular milk tea instead of their flavored stuff. I believe that boba places should always be judge on their basic milk tea first because if they can't make a good regular milk tea then all their other drinks wouldn't be good since milk tea is their bases for most of the drinks. read more

My friend jessica m. raves about this place, and even specially makes it a trip to go here for GOOD boba, so I just had to give it a try when I went to go visit her in Berkeley. I ordered the Hojicha milk tea. I was super stoked to try it (i mean, where else have you seen Ceylon and Hojicha offered at boba places??) , but I was hugely dissapointed. It tasted like really watered down milk tea. I couldn't even tell that it was supposed to be a specific flavor other than regular milk tea. I let my friend try it to confirm the taste, and she agreed that it was really watered down, and that it didn't usually taste like this at all. The saving point of this though, was the boba. We can never find Boba late at night after movies and such. My friend tipped me off to mr green bubble and I think we found our go-to late night Boba place. And it has froyo! So I don't have to get Boba. They also have legit board games here. For those of you who think I mean cranium, I don't. I mean Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride, Agricola type games. See, legit. Although they may have Cranium too. A little too bright and high-schooly for me to feel totally comfortable camping out here, but a nice spot nonetheless. Oh yeah and the Boba is decent. My girlfriend is quite the PMT fanatic, so I get dragged here fairly often. Not gonna lie, though - I secretly enjoy it. I don't think there is anything that particularly stands out about Mr. Green Bubble, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They basically do everything very well. The Earl Grey milk tea was very good, and the pearls are delicious. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to try out many of their other drinks, but I'm sure I will in the future. I did try out their popcorn chicken, though, and that was fantastic. They also have an impressive variety of food options, including waffles and bento boxes?? Gotta admire a store that tries to diversify its food offerings. The other thing that is really nice about this place is that it is clean, well-lit, and fairly spacious. It also has a nice lounge-like vibe to it. I think this would be a really great place to study, and just glancing around during the other times that I've been here, I'm not the only one to come up with that idea... Overall, this is just a really solid place. If you are craving PMT, then it will definitely hit the spot. I'm not lactose intolerant nor have I had a problem with boba milk teas anywhere else. Mr. Green Bubble = Tasty drinks. Froyo. Deep-fried treats [chicken, veggies, calamari, fries]. Pretty clean. Free wifi. Board games available. The crowd ebbs and flows here - sometimes it's really crowded (like midafternoon on weekends) & you can't find a table, but I've been able to find a table & camp out there for hours. It's not very quiet - but if you don't mind some chatter & music in the background, this is a good place to get some work or studying done. I usually just bring a pair of earplugs in case the chatter gets too loud/annoying. I got the Triple Deluxe Bento for lunch - it comes with a few pieces of popcorn chicken, some fried veggies (green beans, cauliflower, zucchini), yam fries, rice, and a salad. The yam fries were pretty dry & didn't taste that good... the texture was weird - I wouldn't order them again. However, the popcorn chicken was good. You can tell them how much spice you want on a scale of 1-5. I asked for a 2 & my face was sweating a little bit - yeah yeah, I'm a wimp :) Oh and if you haven't been to Piedmont Ave before, FYI parking is pretty hard to come by.
