First off, I am keen on the business name - its fun to tell your friends like, "Hey, want anything from Mr. Green Bubble?" or "I'm picking up an order from Mr. Green Bubs". J/k, but in all seriousness, I thought it was creative to have kiosks as the way customers place their orders (if in person) and would be texted once their order is ready to pick up. They have their menu posted for people to read from the outside - it a good size where you aren't squinting to read between the lines. The exterior and interior is small - a fair amount of customers visited during the time I was there and there but it never felt super crowded and everyone had their space waiting outside. While there are no sidewalk tables or chairs, there is 1 bench and a small wooden platform right around the corner for people to chill at. Or feel free to walk across the street and find a spot on the grass. Personally, I would want cafe sidewalk table and chairs, but if I had a blanket w/ me, I would do a little picnic across the street. Or, I would do a pick-up and enjoy it all at home. Their menu is easy to read and understand. There were a few options that stood out to me and obviously couldn't decide. That was until I had spotted someone who had their drink w/ them and it looked delish so I asked them and that was what I ordered. It was the Amber Milk Tea (I got mine w/ oak milk as I don't really like drinking milk). It tasted great - not overly sweet at all and I liked the bottle it came in w/ the coffee lid like cap. These would fit great in your car cup holders. Also tried their popcorn chicken - of course, its a must whenever I get a drink at similar establishments. Spice level runs from 1-5. Tried a 1 and my cousin ordered a 3 (which was actually a good level of spice). I stopped in at Mr. Green Bubble to order boba the other day. The ordering process was easy, but you did have to read quite a few signs to know where and how to order. A sign also noted that the menu prices differ from what was on the kiosk, so when you walk in, I'd recommend going straight to the kiosk. Once you order, you put in your cell number to get updates on your order. I stayed inside waiting for my order and I thought it was odd that they don't call out your order when it's ready. I'm glad I saw them finish my order and place it to the side because I was able to go up and ask and get it. I got the text my order was ready about 5-10 minutes after I actually picked it up. I ordered the lychee slush with boba and taro slush with boba. Both were really filling and delicious! I would come here again to grab boba quickly because it's in my neighborhood but I don't think I would go out of my way to stop back in. They freshly brew each cup - iced or hot - because every time has tasted delicious minus once, when the tea was slightly over-brewed. The fact that they brew every cup to order is a good thing! Fresh tea. In Boba-land this is rare. I'm a little particular about my tea-brewing, so I appreciate this. Perfectly cooked Boba, by the way. I've had hundreds. These are in my top three pearls. Oat milk, Almond milk, lots of milk options. Ice and sweetness all adjustable, and in my experience, all requests have been honored. Matcha is good. Thai Tea is yummy. Popcorn chicken - not very fatty, good amount. I chose the low level of spice and it was perfect. The flavor is very classic of Taiwanese popcorn chicken; while not bland, I did think it was less flavorful than others I've gotten. I think that the bubble tea here is expensive for what you get. I ordered a fruit tea with aloe and the fruit was sparse along with the aloe. The tea also wasn't great and I felt like the quality was mediocre. The service was also terrible. You're greeted with a sign on the door saying that you must order on a kiosk or online. When you come in, no one acknowledges you and there are signs saying you must wait outside. After I ordered, I got a text saying that the drink would take 15-20 minutes. I got a text around 10 minutes saying that it was ready but when I went in, the guy couldn't find my order. One of the workers then said that they must have hit my order complete by accident. So I just waited for the drink which was just poured from a pitcher with some fruit added. It really was not a great experience and I wouldn't come back. They use quality ingredients, and I can only wish boba in Berkeley was half as good as here. Rose Honey Milk Tea and Lavender Milk Tea had actual edible dried rose petals and lavender. I've been coning to this spot for years and sometimes it's just ok for whatever reason but overall they are consistent enough that I'll always come back. But night time staff seem more on top of their game than day time people. There have been upgrades in their dining space with more seating and more creative in interior design. Their menus are on screens to the left of where you order. They added in more food/snack options aside from the standard popcorn chicken and other fried snacks. Love that there are spicy levels for the snacks. They use to just leave the red chili pepper out for people to add themselves but I guess it got too messy or people wasted it so they do it themselves and keep it in the back now. Upfront there's a sign that says there are going to be new drinks added soon which is cool to know! I've been happy with most of their drinks like their dark roast oolong, mango green tea, wintermelon juice, and sparkling grapefruit. The boba is always a good chewy consistency with a hint of sweetness. If you come later in the day then it's better of course(because it's been sitting in the simple syrup for longer). Glad they have a second location in Walnut Creek because this place is pretty small, much more of a To-Go spot. But this Oakland location does have 1 outdoor table for 2 and a bench for 2-3 people around the corner. I moved near the area thinking this will probably be the milk tea spot I go to all the time but honestly, I'm just annoyed by their customer service every time I stop by. I've checked out their instagram and they seem cool, but no.. this Oakland location does not like their customers. I mean.. it's only a minute or less of interaction... is that too much to ask? So I measured out my reusable cup with theirs and it's the same fl. Oz. I saw them make the drink and had a little left over in their shaker and my cup wasn't full either. Instead of filling my cup with the milk tea they dumped it in the sink and filled my cup with ice instead!!!! How annoying.... what a waste. Their chicken wing lvl 1 is tasty, I really enjoyed it, the chicken was juicy and plumped, the coating was crispy. Parking isn't that great in this neighborhood, so it'll take you some time to look for parking on the Main Street. Another alternative would be parking in the residential area, which requires you to walk 2-4 blocks to get to this boba shop. Upon arriving to the store, we were told to not stand inside and to stand outside instead. So there's no point in looking at the menu inside of the store. With the online ordering, I believe there were some bug error because I tried ordering the watermelon slushie and nothing showed up. I then asked the girl (greeter) who adamantly told me it's on the online ordering website. I told her it's not there and even showed my phone. She tried to grab my phone to look at it, and I moved away immediately. I thought this shop was covid-cautious since they don't allow any customers into the store, yet their staff tried to touch my phone? #SUS Eventually, someone who was in the "kitchen area" told me to just order whatever and put "watermelon slushie" in the notes section. That resolved it, I guess. ROSE HONEY MILK TEA ($5.75): So they do charge $0.50 for agar boba and $0.50 whole milk. 50% sugar was NOT sweet at all. I highly recommend getting 100% sugar because 50% was just unbelievably bland. I was genuinely surprised because I had 50% sugar and less ice. By the time I got home, I had to mix my drink with additional sugar and half & half milk, LOL. WATERMELON SLUSHIE ($5.25): So I ordered a slushie for $4.75 and adding a fruit flavor is $0.50. That really doesn't sound right to me at all, but I digress. The drink was NOT sweet at all when I ordered it as 50% sugar and less ice. Again, I had to add additional sugar when I got home, LOL (again). Overall, I think you should just order it as 100% sugar IF you choose to come here. Or else it will be super bland and tasteless. I blame my sister for being a thai tea addict. In order to fuel her addictions, we decided to order two thai teas (one with creamer and one without) from Mr. Green Bubble. And that provoked me to write this current review... Mm... after many encounters with this joint, I would say that their boba offerings are slightly better than average compared to other boba shops in the Bay. Performance wise, would rate them higher than the typical generic boba chains. I enjoy getting their Uji Matcha Latte, P.O.G Slush, Thai Tea, and their slushies. For snacks, they're usually pretty solid. Well fried, crispy, and not too oily. My go to for snacks are: Waffle Fries, Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings, Mushroom Mix, and the different flavors of egg puffs. Just sucks that this specific location does not have my fave, which are the Pandan Mochi Waffles. It's also nice that they allow you to customize spice levels for the savory snacks. Overall, quality isn't bad considering the price and value. (3.5/5 stars for menu items) Despite its solid efforts in making drinks and churning out snacks, I was a bit let down by the cleanliness/overall sanitation of the place. Gosh, I usually don't like taking stars away from businesses, but the drinks that we ordered from Doordash had dust and small particles on the lids, as well as the drinking part of the cups. I don't think this was the fault of the driver since the drinks were placed in a bag and were sealed... Anyways, sister did not really feel comfortable drinking from the cups even after disinfecting it. There's always street parking around the area. I agree with a lot of the other Yelpers that their service isn't always the best, but they're pretty fast with orders. Ordered the Rose Green Milk Tea and it was pretty good! The floral flavor from the rose was not overly strong which was nice because you can still taste the green tea. The drink was still in the sweeter side for me and did not taste artificial. My friend ordered the Passion Black Tea and it tasted very artificial. To be safe, I would stick with the milk teas! It was a beautiful Sunday on the sunny side of the Bay. I met up with my oldest friend (18 years and counting!!) to get our nails done, and we decided we wanted a little snack afterward. The strawberry green tea (half sweet is plenty sweet) with agar (Crystal boba) was delicious and refreshing. We also got an order of the popcorn chicken which was absolutely cosmic, especially with some ranch. One order split between the two of us was the perfect amount, and we got quite the bang for our buck for $7! An awesome spot to hang out on an early Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy. I have been to this boba spot a number of times during the pandemic. I'm never blown away but it satisfies my boba craving when I'm not looking to travel far. On my most recent visit I had the passion green tea with less ice and honey boba. The boba and tea can be inconsistent here. The service is always ok. The menu offers all the usual staples and some small bites. The self serving kiosks are new since the last time I visited. Makes ordering a breeze. All in all Mr Green Bubble is a decent boba spot in the area. I'll probably be back again because its location is fairly convenient. My friends and I started coming here every week after work for a game night back in 2013. It had a great vibe and we could sit and enjoy our delicious fried snacks along with our fun and sweet bobas (with good milk alternatives). Fast forward almost 10 years years, and I moved away. I visited Oakland recently and craved their delicious boba. The line was out the door, but they had a kiosk for self-ordering with only 1 person using it ahead of me. Once I placed my order, the screen said my order would be ready in 20-minutes (which is still too long to wait for a boba, imo). Well, the wait time was actually 45-minutes. The issue with the wait time discrepancy between their ordering kiosk and reality is that they receive so many online orders (DoorDash, etc.) that even if you "only" see 15 people waiting there, it will properly be way more people ahead of you due to online orders flooding them. What turned me off from them this trip aside from the ridiculous wait time is that they have begun using half of their inside area as a storage room. Large boxes and plastic wrapped cups, etc., sat in two different areas. I thought it was tacky and probably a health code violation. And even though it was late 2022, they still had the restroom closed to patrons. Any business that is still claiming their customer restroom is closed because of Covid at this point is just not wanting to clean a bathroom. I won't be back. read more

Went here just last weekend (during shelter-in-place) and their new process is completely contactless. You would need to order online (thru clover, doordash or ubereats) and pick it up as soon it says it's ready.
