Ok so long story short I had 3 hours to kill and nowhere else to go. One of the guys on base recommended this place so I checked it out. I had breakfast and lunch both during my stay here. The breakfast was ok. I got the 2 egg plate with hash browns and sausage links. The eggs were pretty good, hash browns could be cooked a little longer but the sausage links were fire. The service was great they are very attentive and even came by to give me more drink. Stopped several times to check on the food and myself. Lunch is what made this a 5 star. I ordered the steak quesadilla with fries. The fries were obviously fresh, hot, and had the perfect flavor. The steak quesadilla was on point. It had steak and other things I don't even know. It did have a little kick to it so if you are sensitive to heat I wouldn't get it. Overall I'm very satisfied with this place and would come back. read more

The food was amazing! I had a turkey burger and my husband had the chicken tenders. My burger was perfect, and my husband said his chicken tenders were some of the best. Our server was very attentive and did a wonderful job. The music was great too! The place doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you! Lunchtime, gave this spot a try. There is ample parking, either in front of the restaurant, or around back, in the parking lot. The staff was friendly and professional. The restaurant is clean and has a family feel vibe. Indoor dining is available. COVID-19 protocols are still being practiced, a little relaxed, masks are optional, at the moment. I've been eating here for 15 years. Hadn't been in a couple of months; I guess they've changed ownership. On the positive, it was cleaner than I have ever seen it. Service was good, ordering process was much nicer. I have always gotten the Cheesesteak supreme there. It's always been good - a solid performer; occasionally I'll get a burger or something else, but that cheesesteak has always been my "go to". They have evidently changed the recipe and gone to a less expensive or less labor intensive version - this was almost like a sloppy joe - the meat was in some kind of weird sauce. It used to be like a "real' cheesesteak with provolone, onion, peppers, and mushrooms. The version I got today, had the meat chopped very finely, and the sauce just made it weird. I also noticed it was much less crowded than it used to be - so it makes me think other people aren't as happy with it now, either. Great staff and extra effort to clean it up is very much appreciated - but bring the cheesesteak back the way it used to be? read more

This is a local place, quite honestly it's a little hole in the wall. Great food and prices here, for the most part the prices have not went increased when they first open. The owner may not be personable since he is really focus on taking orders, communicating with the kitchen and making sure everyone gets their food relatively quickly. The waiter/runner it's amazing, always checking on the customers to make sure the drinks are filled to the top, clean napkins are available because you can get drink with their crispy and spicy wings, burger or steak hoagie. If you are coming into Charlotte and are nearby the airport, you should definitely stop here. read more

Hidden Charlotte Gem. I was introduced to Mr G's recently and ordered a fried flounder sandwich with onion rings. It was so delicious!! Their service is quick and their waitress is really nice. We were on our way to a different restaurant near the Charlotte Airport when we drove past Mr G's. The OPEN sign was on so we had to stop in for breakfast. However, it was 10:40 and breakfast was no longer available. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich which comes with French fries. The sandwich was very large and quite tasty. The fries were....fries. Nice folks running the place. Food was better than average. And the prices cheap. Glad we stopped in. read more

We arrived a little before lunch and this place was already packed. Now, it's definitely the definition of a "hole in the wall" kinda place. Don't go expecting anything fancy. I almost hate to write a good review......because I will let my little secret gem be found by the masses. So, let's just start this by saying that this place was started in 1987. It's tucked away off the road, right across from the NC National Guard Armory on Morris Field Drive, near the NC Aviation Museum. From the outside, the place shows its age, and as I see it, these folks are just too darn busy cooking up some good food, to tend to the classic vintage facade. The inside is your classic 80's area seating....nice comfortable vinyl seats. I do mostly take out here only because my coworkers love this place, and we just do not get enough time to enjoy it here. You need to get there early, because after 11:30 the place gets packed. The food is consistently good and always ready when I get there. I have always been pleased with the service, quality, and speed at which these folks operate. Ok, so, take my advice, eat here, but please do me a favor and wait till after 11:30am, so I do not feel so bad about letting you know my favorite little eating place during the week. First and I guess for most, we went to Mr. G's for the first time on 18 july 2023. We were looking for a place to eat before catching a flight out of Charlotte. The burgers we ate were excellent and the service was quick and friendly. I unfortunately left my charge card in the reader and we left the restaurant without it. I did not realize this until through security at the Airport. We called the restaurant to confirm that I had left it there. They offered to bring it to me at the Airport but we just went ahead and canceled the card. They mailed it to me several days later to my home in Texas. To say they went above and beyond is an understatement. If you are ever in Charlotte NC do yourself a favor and eat here, you will not regret it. read more

Stopped by Mr G's today for lunch with a friend. Had eaten there many years ago with friends who were with the NC ANG stationed across the street. Was greeted by a nice young lady and gave her my order. The waitress/order taker was really nice, friendly, very helpful she was the highlight of our visit, unfortunately, the food was average at best. It came out very hot, from being freshly cooked, but the flavor, just wasnt up to par. The food is not as good as I remembered from years ago, maybe change in ownership?? Never even heard of this place, but apparently this is a popular joint for airport employees and Air Force workers across the street. It's another hole in the wall burger/sandwich place (I love them!). It looks a little dumpy on the outside, which never scares me off. The inside was just as bad looking, can we say tacky all the way? What they lack in decor, however, they make it up with low prices and big portion of food. My gyro was $4.75 and came with a side. It was good too, the slices of gyro was still warm, stuffed in a soft warm pita with plenty of lettuce, tomato & onion and tzatziki sauce. The tzatziki sauce was a good compliment to the sandwich instead of being a distraction (sometimes they are too tart or garlicky or herby). The onion rings were the typical frozen corn meal ones, so I say stick with fries instead... why can't I be pleasantly surprised with beer batter ones?! All in all, this is a great cheap place to eat near the airport even for a non airport area employee like myself. read more

Terrible! I'm just now getting over this horrible stomach bug caused by his place. I ended up paying $10.92 for a salad, water, and a small tiramisu. Needless to say, that price is ridiculous! You should never have to pay that much at lunch time for that little amount of food. Speaking of the food, in the salad, there was an egg and so I out it on a napkin because I don't like eggs. The waitress came by and asked how it was and I told her that I didn't like the egg. Instead of taking it or saying "hey sorry about that" or something to the effect, she just walked off. The tiramisu was awful, it tasted like someone tried to make banana pudding and failed. If you like tiramisu like I do, go to Olive Garden or SAMs club around Christmas. Fried Okra and Sweet Sweet Tea! That's all you really need to know, well at least for me that was really the only things on the menu that I could eat. This place is big on burgers and chicken sandwiches. My friend said that his burger was extra juicy with a meaty tomato stacked on top. Carnivores love it! The fried okra was great, a staple southern side, and the sweet tea is very sweet. If you are from the north, don't mess with it start with something a little more bland. I like my sweet tea to taste like sugar water and lemons. This is a good place to go for a quick lunch. read more
