This place was right by my hotel and I was starving after traveling from Raleigh that morning. I needed to quickly grab a bite so I walked over to Little Village Grill around 12pm. I was worried because this is in the depths of Uptown with tons of people already walking in on their lunch break. The line seemed long but the staff clearly is used to the rush. They quickly got all of us through the line, and what I thought would take 10 minutes took less than 5 minutes. Plus the food was fresh, delicious, and well-priced. What a good find! Thankfully I beat the lunch rush when I was taking my break from jury duty. I got the gyro with fries and a coke zero. I love a restaurant that has a fountain coke zero. The gyro was delicious with a creamy tzitziki sauce. I would pass on the fries in the future. They were nothing special and just jacked up the price of my meal. The turnaround time from ordering to food delivery as quick but be prepared to wait in line to order if you arrive after 12 pm. Most of the dining tables were dirty when I arrived so I cleaned it off myself. I understand they have a lunch rush, so I shrugged it off. I will say that I would not come here again unless I was at the courthouse. I would not want to hassle with finding parking/paying for parking to eat at this establishment. Had to go to uptown during my lunch and I was looking for some place walkable and delicious to eat. Ran across this resturant in full mid lunch run and decided to try it out. Went on a Monday around 1pm and when I walked up there were only about 4 of us in line. By the time I ordered they had a whole line outside of their entrance doors. I ordered their Greek salad with a side of fries and OMG. Im so glad I chose this spot. The salad was super fresh and delicious. Chicken was warm and perfect and everything blended so well. One of the best Greek salads ive had. The fries were an added Razzle Dazzle! Just perfect! Very hot and crispy and not soggy at all. You can definitely tell they had just prepared the fries. Perfect spot to grab a bite to eat if you find yourself in the uptown area during lunch. If you decide to drive here, there are a couple of parking decks that you can park at but you do have to pay so just keep that in mind. This place does not validate. Either way you dont break the bank parking at the decks during the week. They have a few tables inside with plenty of patio seating as well for those perfect spring, summer and fall temperatures. I used to frequent this restaurant in the mornings for breakfast however my last two attempts to patronize, I have noticed that the cook is not wearing gloves. This morning, as I walked in I noticed he was scrapping stuff off of the countertop with his hands and then he proceeded to prepare breakfast. So instead of a hot breakfast I opted for fruit. Lunch in downtown, Yelp brought me here. I love a donner kebab (we call it a gyro) and LVG has 'em. A nice sized lunch crowd from the courthouse and the police department but the line moves quickly. Lamb/beef gyro with extra meat for me. I watched it sliced off the donner and onto the pita bread that had been warmed on the grill. Some onions, some tomato, a scoop of tzatziki and then topped with a couple of fries. Oh, my. I did eat some of the fries and some of the pita, but not too much. Just delicious. There is a soda fountain, iced tea and a cooler with cans/bottles. I'm not sure I would recommend the tzatziki if you're going to be in close quarters with fellow humans. It's quick garlicky. The tzatziki was fantastic and was generously applied throughout the gyro. I love the French fries stuffed in the gyro.. yum!! There was a line when I went to this location, but it moves quick!! Tucked away in the sleepier part of Uptown Charlotte, across the street from the courthouse and surrounded by older government buildings, seemingly worlds away from the hustle of the banks you will find Little Village Grill. They serve up Greek-American fare from gyros to burgers and subs, and let's not forget the classic Greek fries! There was a meme going around about how gyro restaurants always serve the best fries and it's something I have always thought but never vocalized but it is so true. The restaurant is modest in size and you order at the counter. Lines tend to form but they move along quickly and turn out food pretty efficiently. They have plenty of indoor seating but I prefer to sit outside on their patio provided the weather is nice. It is a bit of a walk from my office but definitely worth it. They have somehow managed to maintain status as a Charlotte classic yet because of their location I think they are a bit off the radar. If you are an Uptown office worker you should definitely make the journey. read more

I'm not really sure what all the hype is about. I ordered the lamb gyros with fries and tzatziki sauce. I found that the meat had little to no flavor at all. No discernible seasonings. I watch them slice pale meat off the spit-- no waiting for it to crisp up at all or anything like that. So that was a bummer. The fries have a strange batter-like coating to them, and they are rather flavorless like the meat. The tzatziki sauce was perfection though. The staff are very friendly and quick about getting your order together. It also has a really nice patio with plenty of room if you'd like to eat outside. read more

I stopped into The Little Village Grill as it was conveniently located across the street from my hotel, and I was NOT disappointed! As soon as I got in line, which stretched out the door, I was immersed in the fantastic smells that come from fantastic deli food and grilled onions. Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. The industrial decor is accented with bright, fresh, local art, giving it an ambience of relaxed happiness. All of the staff was smiling ear to ear and made pleasant conversation. I ended up sitting with one on his break and we chatted about how well decorated the restaurant is and other current events. The music playing was up beat and happy and not too loud. I ordered The Little Village sub on wheat, a large Greek Salad, and a side of Greek potato salad which I'd never heard of. The sub struck me as a lighter, updated version of a Philly Cheesesteak. The lettuce and tomatoes cut the heaviness of the perfectly seasoned and cooked beef. It had an unidentifiable sauce that added the perfect hint of sweetness and complimented the provolone cheese very well. I'm not sure if it was a sauce or just the juices from the meat and cheese flowing together with the grilled onions, but it was divine. The bread was toasted to perfection and didn't get soggy in the slightest. The Greek salad was a perfectly quintessential Greek salad with plenty of red onion and kalamata olives. The acidity and freshness of the salad was a fantastic way to cut through the savoryness of the sandwich. The Greek potato salad was perfectly textured, with hearty chunks of potatoes cooked to perfection and layered with feta cheese and red wine vinegar, to make a sour potato salad that had a serious zing to it. And the prices were unbeatable. My sandwich was under 7 dollars, and it almost certainly earns its new place as the best sandwich that I have ever had for the money. Love that the 2nd LVG is so close to my work. So easy to walk 5 minutes to this spot and grab a superb lunch. LVG has been slinging out awesome food for awhile and is well known around the uptown lunch crowd. This 2nd location continues the legacy. Family owned business so you know they take pride in all that they do. This location has a solid amount of room for seating inside and I'm really looking forward to warmer weather when I can sit outside, on the many tables, for a nice lunch break. Both times my husband and I have shared an order of fries and it's difficult to finish all the food. They don't have combo options and the sides are around $2. I don't know how much drinks are because we always get a cup of water. They have plenty of options such as sandwiches, burgers, gyro's, salads, and other things. If you are in the area, or not and want delivery, this is your place. You can eat amazingly delicious food that fills you up for anywhere between $6-$12ish a person (depending on if you order a side and/or drink with main item).
