10/10 Would recommend! Service: impeccable Food: Delicious Vibe check: A1 I'm ashamed to admit that this was the backup plan! Excellent choice!

We came here for dinner after attending a graduation and the vibe was festive, service was timely, and presentation was good. But living in border states has ruined my ability to enjoy Mexican food that's just okay. Nothing we ordered was bad; I got the quesabirria and pineapple passion, and had a sip of The Earl. It was all pretty fine. But know that you're coming here not for the authenticity but rather for the experience, and it's a fun experience. I'd recommend the churro cart at the end of your meal!

Such a cute place. Interior is modern and very well appointed. When I got here a little after 5 there was hardly anyone here but I came for happy hour. Sat at the bar. Bartender was very attentive and offered suggestions. I ordered the watermelon marg which was super refreshing and presented well. I ordered the happy hour chicken Drummies. And the queso fundido add chorizo. The queso was delish. Great blend of cheeses and super flavorful. The chicken drummies had good flavor and promise but they tasted like they were prepared a few days ago and we lukewarm at best. I did tell the bartender the feedback just so they knew. About 20 min later the mgr/ownercame by and apologized and said they took care of them for me. She offered me something else also I was already full but they def went above and beyond here to be sure I was good. It was appreciated for sure. While visiting I'll def come back.

    Mix of appetizers. All delicious.

My hubs and I had the pleasure of dining here, stopping for drinks and heavy hors d'œuvres. I'll be honest, we live in Saratoga where there are plenty of Mexican restaurants and most are quite good. Toro Cantina, in Albany, rates high on my list. The Classic Margarita was fresh and refreshing. I was delighted as some Mexican places pour a mix. I believe Toro's was authentic, made from scratch. We sampled Empanadas and mini Tacos. Chicken and meat. Crisp on the outside - the way they should be. Not too spicy for my tender tummy. Very good. The guacamole was fresh-made and also delicious. We'll be back ... and will bring friends!

Holy portion size Batman! If you are justb2 people the can nachos is enough food for 2, we barely touched our meals after this heaping awesome portion of nachos! Spicy margarita could have used some more kick. Chimichanga is huge.

Churros - delicious, just one left for the pic. Cool cart presentation.

Service was amazing. Alaina was our waitress and she was so awesome - big smile along with a wonderful personality and very attentive. I had the La Reina margarita and my wife had two shots: Mexican lollipop and Cafe Inferno. The margarita and the shots were top notch. The carne asada steak was very tender and full of taste. The best carne asada steak I have ever had a a Mexican restaurant in the northeast. Churros for desert. Highly recommend.

We attended an event here the other day and found this restaurant to be terrific. We decided to give it another try today on our own. Glad we did! The service was outstanding. Our server - Maeve - did a super job and was seriously friendly, knowledgeable, and had a wonderful personality. The food was delicious. My companion ordered a taco salad and it truly was GIGANTIC. I ordered a burrito and was one of the best I ever had. We ordered churros for dessert and they were so good we started eating them upon arrival- before I had a chance to get a photo. On the way out we had a nice chat with the Manager- Jen. Overall we had a wonderful time and we shall return. As we were l

Date night: We decided to finally use a gift card we had to Toro. I was able to make a reservation online on opentable for 7pm on Saturday night, which I love! Arrived slightly early and checked in. Had to wait only a few minutes to get sat. Tables were small and chairs are hard wooden not comfortable, some have comfier armed chairs not sure how you get those. The tables are very veryyy close together, we were basically in the table nexts to us conversation it was very awkward. -half star . The tables were likely set up like that for Valentine's Day. The decor is very unique, a fake tree in the middle with an open concept. Definitely a couple places for great photos for your Instagrams to beef up your content (the most popular one is near the ladies bathroom). Bar is pretty big and chairs looked comfortable but again close together, chairs touching eachother. As we sat down we had been asked if we wanted chips and salsa, like of course!! We also added to get queso, it was tasteful, salsa is a traditional mild and chips are served slightly warm (see pictures). Ordered a pomegranate margarita, it was okay didn't really taste the tequila for $15. In my opinion wasn't worth the money. -half star . Birria for dinner see picture. Was really good, the braised beef cooked to perfection. The beef is served in flour tortillas, which by the time I ate the first two the third one got so soggy couldn't eat it like a taco. Another thing to keep in mind is they only give you a dinner napkin, which if you're eating with your hands aka tacos it got dirty quick. So suggestion: they really should give you paper napkins in addition. -half star . Chimichanga also ordered see picture. Was also good however it has a lot going on. A salad on the plate in addition to the rice and beans and the chimichanga. The chimichanga had peppers, onions, pork and cheese within it, in my opinion the peppers were really not needed within. The plate is overwhelming, I'd suggest putting the greens on the side or removing them totally. -half star . We decided to get dessert, churros ordered see picture. In addition to dessert we ordered an expresso martini and a coffee. They took a little while to arrive with the coffee but were very hot and delicious. I'd say it was a good meal nothing terribly specials. Our bill was about 120$. I'd go back if we had another gift card to use or if other people invited us to attend an outing. Our waitress was very nice and sweet and attentive. I didn't get her name though as she never really introduced herself. Only had asked if we had dined with them before which we had. I did notice they were wearing name tags though. The ambiance is casual trendy, the music was different and made me feel like we were in a club rather than a Mexican restaurant. The way people were dressed, was all over the place. I'd say if you're worried go with the casual look. They do have happy hour Monday through Thursday at the bar area 4pm-6pm I believe the sign said.

Recently, we went to Toro Cantina and had their 14-inch flour shell Giant Lobster quesadilla, and it was LOADED. They did not disappoint with the amount of lobster in it, and it was delicious. Everything that we had was so tasty. We also ordered their nachos with chorizo (LOOK AT THAT QUANTITY!), and their cheesecake flan was *chef's kiss*. I don't even like flan; I never go for flan. But gosh, this flan was tasty. I was so surprised. P.S. you'll probably need a reservation since it's usually packed!

It was our first time at this location the Ambiance was great very plush seating to include a dark green velvet look. Our host Callie (Ghost) was amazing!! She used effective listening when taking our orders. The food came out really swiftly and it did not disappoint (Thanks Chef) the complimentary chips and salsa was a great addition especially for a large party. Thank you Toro!!

We arrived early for our reservation and we were able to be seating. They were busy for a fall Thursday night. The table was small and the chairs were not very comfortable and that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. When we arrived they instantly brought out chips and salsa. The waitress asked if we had eaten there before and we said no. There was no follow up to that. Which was odd. Tacos were delicious. The drink wasn't as Smokey as I had wished for a mezcal drink The rice and beans were so good! We will definitely be eating here again.

After a recent YELP event which was amazing, I just couldn't come home empty handed. On my way out I stopped at the greeter station and placed an order for take out. While I was seated on the couch in the waiting area I took in the decorations and thoughtful ambiance of the restaurant. I especially enjoyed the framed prints of ladies in sugar skull/ dia de los muertos costume. It wasn't very long before I was on my way home. The kitchen staff whipped up my meal in no time and I was on my way. I ordered the vegan chorizo tacos and small classic guacamole to go. The guacamole came with chips but I was hoping for complimentary salsa roja to come with the chips but it did not. The tacos were topped with vegan cheese and salsa verde. The meal was enjoyable but I was still in sticker shock as I dined on the chips and guacamole, $43.70 seemed like a lot for chips, 3 tacos, and a side of rice and beans to go. Don't get me wrong, the food was great and I was still very appreciative of the event that I had just attended but I will reserve meals at Toro for limited special events given the prices on the menu.

Great turnout for Yelp event here at Toro. Margaritas empanadas, guacamole, sauces, etc. Thank you Annie F. & the staff at Toro.

Ask for Chips and Salsa they're free with food at the bar!

The restaurant is very beautiful and there are vibrant colors throughout we enjoyed all the flowery photo op areas that are available. There was actually a very large heart near the main entrance where customers could take a photo; very cool. We weren't fans of the plastic silverware and they prevented purchase of their Margarita flights because it was a holiday; I get the flights but if we're spending $16+ for a lunch item or $23+ for a dinner item in restaurant we should get real silverware. Mom and me ordered the Fajita Express ($16) my stepdad ordered the lunch cheese steak quesadilla $14.50. we were a bit disappointed when the fajitas arrived; no searing skillet, what's up with that? Just the food on a plate. The quesadilla was a strange presentation as well. Folded over in half but not cut, zero crisp or crunch, and sauce on top. Never seen anyone have to eat a quesadilla with a fork and knife before. The food did taste good overall but the presentation was a fail. We ordered a few drinks as well. All drinks were served in plastic cups. The beer was reasonably priced and cold. The house margarita was delicious ($12) and the Mexican Muel was also tasty ($10). As for some of the other Margarita options they cost as much as some of the lunch and dinner items, a bit extreme. We couldn't believe they didn't have any margarita specials on Cinco de Mayo, another fail. The restrooms are a bit of a mess. The mens room toilet has a leak at the base and the caulk job is horrendous. One of the hand washing sinks is out of service with a grocery bag over the spout and valve. Overall we had an ok experience, nothing spectacular. If it weren't Cico de Mayo we would have just stopped by Teds Fish Fry. Next time I'm in the area and looking for lunch or dinner, we will most likely try somewhere else.

It was a bit hard to find places around this area and further as places seem to close earlier and we enjoyed our experience. We were seated in a more private area which I appreciated and the service was wonderful. We started with the calamari and I was really intrigued by the lobster quesadilla so I ordered that as well. My partner went with their dinner plate option - pulled chicken burrito. The calamari was perfectly battered and fried and it definitely served it's job as an appetizer! There was a large amount and we finished it so quickly that I wished we had saved some to eat with the entrees. The Lobster Quesadilla was quite good and I really enjoyed the flavors in it. I do think that the onions made the quesadilla a bit wet and therefore, it falls apart a bit easily. While I don't eat beans, my partner enjoyed the rice and beans very much and loved how fragrant they were. The burrito itself was interesting as the concept seemed to be more of a deconstructed burrito. It was tasty but wasn't wrapped like a burrito and he thought it could've been improved if it was wrapped with the components inside. Nevertheless, this was a satisfying dinner and we did not leave hungry.

And seeing how extensively the former Denny's Restaurant was remodeled you definitely get that large corporate feeling. This is not your Mom & Pop's home-town restaurant effort. But that corporate feeling begins to fade somewhat while you are dining. The staff are friendly, helpful, and appear to be enjoying themselves as evidenced by some of them singing along to the authentic Mexican background music. The menu is huge! Would you believe 20 pages of drinks and food? Fortunately, there are photos for almost every dish, so you have no problem wondering what it is that you are ordering. Besides, most of the offerings are Tex-Mex dishes which Americans are quite familiar with by now, e.g., tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, and chimichangas. One thing that I found puzzling was that tamales were only available in each of the three Combo dishes. You apparently cannot order tamales singularly. Upon being seated, we were promptly served complimentary chips along with a red salsa and a refried bean dip with cheese, pepper, and tomato. The salsa had no spicing at all. We each ordered a large (24 oz.) draft Modelo Especial ($10 each). My initial test of a Mexican restaurant is to try a dish with their Mole and compare it with memories of the home cooked meal I was served by a close Mexican friend more than 30 years ago. However, I had wanted to also try something more than the Pollo Mole at Don Juan's. I zeroed in on Tampiqueña ($27); a marinated grilled steak and a mole enchilada coated in their house made Tia Maria Mole sauce. The dish was also served with refried beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, green onions, and guacamole in place of sliced avocado. The steak was pounded very thin so that the likely tougher cut that was used was not overly chewy. The flavors however, with the grilling and marinade were quite tasty. The enchilada was filled with tender chicken, and the mole coating on the flour tortilla was more sweet than savory as opposed to what I would have expected from a more traditional chicken and mole combination. I guess it was the Tia Maria. Once again, I did not notice any spiciness . I was also provided with a container of four fresh, warm, flour tortillas. While I'm not a fan of flour tortillas these were the best flour tortillas I've ever encountered. My wife ordered the Tacos Al Pastor ($21), choosing steak over pork or chicken, topped with pico de gallo and fresh cabbage in corn tortillas. The three tacos were also served with rice, lettuce, and tomato. The red salsa served on the side had no spiciness. However, a second container of salsa more brownish in color had plenty of spiciness. She was very pleased with her meal. One additional item on the dessert list called out to me from the moment I saw it on the menu. Sopapillas ($9), as served here, they are triangular shaped pastry dusted with cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. They were tasty and enjoyable but nothing like what I first encountered in a Mexican restaurant more than 55 years ago in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There they were a basket of fried dough morsels served to us before our meal, with honey to be poured on them. YUM! Overall, we were pleased with our Tex-Mex experience and are very likely to return to try some additional menu items. If you want spicy, be sure to request the appropriate salsa.
