The quality and quantity of the food will surprise you. While I cannot speak to any of their vegetarian dishes or appetizers (besides the grape leaves, which are my favorite), their meat dishes are unmatched when it comes to middle eastern cuisine across Lexington. They are craftful with their spices and sauces. We drive across the city to get Mr. Kabab and it is always a treat. This was just what I wanted for my shaworma craving. We had driven into Lexington from Dayton for my grandson's ice hockey tournament and needed a lunch stop. I found this on yelp. Very comfortable, casual establishment with adequate dining space. Pretty simple to order. The food was very good and the service was polite. I had the shaworma lunch platter. Other reviews are spot on, the garlic sauce is amazing. I had baba ganoush as my side, which I always enjoy. My son had the lamb skewers plate with a Greek salad. He was also very pleased with the food. I bought a container of 4 pieces of baklava for $5 to take with me. I kond of wish I had nixed the baklava. It didnt have the crispy layers of phyllo like i expected. It was very soft. There was plenty of honey, but even the flavor was lacking, in my opinion. This is an amazing stop for lunch or dinner. The meat is always moist and flavorful, while the rice is fresh and very well seasoned. My favorite is the falafel! My bf and I split a regular size shwarma and sometimes still don't finish it! Would recommend everything on the menu, as I have eaten there at least 100 times. So good. read more

Been going to this place since I was a little girl. I adore it to put it lightly. I've never tried anything I haven't liked. I typically go for the lamb or chicken platter or one of each. The fattoush is great as is the falafel and the hummus. I cannot say enough to great things about this place. From the Arabic music in the background to the atmosphere definitely worth checking out. This is my first time eating here and I loved it! I had the chicken shaworma, tabooli salad and grape leaves. It was fantastic! Very filling, yet light. The owner was delightful, and Gwen was so helpful with suggestions of items I should try. Would def come back. I can't believe I drive by here daily and hadn't tried it! I absolutely love Mr. Kabab! My favorite thing to order is the chicken skewers with hummus on the side. I've had the gyro, beef skewer, lamb skewer, and falafel but I always seem to go back to the chicken skewers. The best chicken, garlic sauce, and hummus in town! You won't be disappointed. read more

Love this place and its sister shop, Gyroz. It satisfies all my cravings for Levantine cuisine, the ambience is nice, the Arabic music videos are hilarious. One note: I got the tahini salad and it was very unpalatable. This was the only thing that I've gotten here that was unsatisfactory. Also, to other reviewers: just because Sahara is world-class doesn't mean you should vote this place down. And there are some marked advantages of this place--ambience, location and it is less crowded and less apt to run out of food. read more

So I was driving around, looking for a place to park for a second to return a phone call that I missed earlier. And then the aroma of something incredibly delicious stopped me in my tracks. It smelled like a firepit, roasted meat, and heaven. I turned my car around and walked into a curious little place, "Mr.Kabab". There were older Middle-Eastern men sitting outside and playing cards. Inside, I saw a dingy and somewhat old-fashioned room with Arabic music playing on TV. I had gyros with a tabboule (spelling?) salad. Both were great, although I'd add a little more seasoning to the gyro meat. Will certainly be coming there again to try other things on the menu. read more

For Lexington to be full of chains, it's nice to find authentic foods made fast and fresh! As a safe option, the lunch special is always a good option. I love this place, and have been getting it every week or two for months. You can tell they care a lot about presentation and quality. I've tried everything on the menu, and normally get the beef shawarma. Every time it's got the right mix of spices and I'm never disappointed. My wife gets the falafel, which is also amazing. I went to Sahara for the first time last week and it was pretty good, but not on the same level as Mr. Kabab. I'm not sure why Sahara had a long line and Kabab is normally vacant. I consider it one of the best places in Lexington, and hope more people discover it and give it the business it deserves! read more

Finally a boy who likes ethnic food found a good gyro in Lexington. I had a gyro and the cucumber salad. Wonderful and tastes just like home. I usually love mediterranean food but this was by far my worst experience at a restaurant. We waited for at least 15 minutes though there was only one other couple there. The food for me was't very flavorful and even was pretty dry. Though my friends did say they enjoyed their dish which was the chicken schwara. I even got a little sick afterwards but I think it was because of the amount of cream based sauce that was in my dish and was not their fault. read more

Literally just had the worst dining experience I've ever had in Lexington. I came in with a party of 3, we ordered, paid and tipped well. We proceeded to wait for our food. We waited for about 20 minutes and watched as multiple parties came in after us and were served there food immediately. We watched people who came in after us finish their meals and leave before we were even served. We finally decided to cancel our order when we saw the girl prompt the man to make our orders and he notably decided to restock the bar, adjust orders for another party and talk to the kitchen still before even touching our order. When we asked for our money back... they kept the tip. I had had enough at that point and just left, but I would not recommend to others. read more

Really good for the price and type of restaurant. The lamb is great...full of flavor and cooked well. The gyro bread is pre made but tastes good. Hummus is awesome.
