Memorable first experience pushed me to becoming a regular on the weekends. Meat is cooked well and flavorful to the bone(if you get some with). The look of their rice might not appeal at first but let your tastebuds decide cuz I couldn't find a morsel in my plate 20 minutes after I got the food. Garlic sauce on the side is to devour in. Mr. Kabob is outstanding. Their gyros are amazing but when one digs deeper, you will discover their excellent spicy chicken, shawarma and various kebab offerings. Also the spicy chicken wraps are wonderful. In addition, their side dish offerings are also delicious. I recommend the Greek salad, cucumber salad and Baba ghanoush. You will not be disappointed. The chicken shwarma and chicken kababs here are the best you will find. Period. I've been here dozens of times and have tried everything on the menu. The Steak kababs are a little hit and miss (I got them once and they tasted like they had been from the day before), but that was once out of many visits. I've tried every Medeterainian restauraunt from Cincinatti to Knoxville and Mr. Kabobs Chicken rules supreme! I agree with another reviewer that they can be a little slow, however its totally worth it when you taste the Garlic Sauce. It's mind blowingly good and is unlike anybody elses garlic sauce in town. Undoubtedly my favorite place to eat in Lexington. For the price I've never had better food. I've tried several menu items including the chicken kebab, chicken gyro, and chicken and beef shawarma, but nothing compares to the lamb shawarma. OMG so good. The tahini is thin and garlicky and amazing. The lentil soup is fantastic. Tahini salad is usually my go to side item but I love the hummus as well. The only negative is that taking your food can sometimes take a while when this place is packed. But for food that tastes like sit down restaurant quality when you pay fast food prices can you really complain? Gave Sahara a try but wasn't as in love. They may have more variety on their menu ,but Mr. Kebab's food was more delicious and their prices can't be beat. read more

Mr Kabob has decent food. The employees could be more friendly, maybe crack a smile or two. I'm partial to the gyro, but I wish they would allow me to order it with a beef kabob instead of the beef-lamb mixture they cut off the spit. Their yogurt sauce is the best I've ever tasted. The restaurant could be cleaner - the tables always have a sticky film on them and the display cases are covered in fingerprints. Still, I do enjoy it occasionally. read more

I call ahead; the friendly staff know my (special) orders (usually the kufta sandwich with hummus, garlic sauce and harissa); the turkish coffee is fantastic; everything on the menu is good. Mr Kebab suffers in part because they're competing against Sahara, Zainna, and now Pita Social too. In a town without such a plethora of amazing Mediterranean places it would probably be a lot busier. My typical reason for going to Mr. Kebab is that it's too late for Sahara to have any meat left (after 6) and I don't want to or don't have time to drive all the way to Zainna (way on the other side of town). They give you a lot of food and they have pretty good hummus. Their pita are ok but just the same bagged pita you can buy at the grocery. Their shawarma can be dry. Sometimes the kebabs are overdone, at other times they're quite good, although not all that flavorful until you get the garlic sauce involved. The garlic sauce is really good, but they don't give you much so I always end up having to pay for extra. They don't have fountain drinks, and the bottled sodas/water can get expensive for this kind of place. Skip the falafel, it has been sitting under that heat lamp all day as have all the pies (is it that hard to fry up some to order?). Their rice is usually good though; each plate is 1/2 of each of the two styles of rice and they blend really well. I'm not sure what they call each type though, because the people working there aren't approachable or engaging. The decor is actually nicer than any other med. place in town, but the place isn't welcoming at all because of the staff who quickly and efficiently take your order without a smile. And even though you're all right there within a few feet of each other as you wait for your food, they don't speak to you (and seem to argue a bit with each other). The whole place has a bummer vibe which has gotten worse in the last several months. You wouldn't want to go there to eat in, but it is tolerable for carry out. read more

The staff in this place is very prejudice.. I went in on Tuesday with my family it was 6 of us. The cashier was cordial. The guy dipping the food looked up at us we told him brown rice he dumped the yellow rice out n started slapping the rice on there as if he was about to feed to dogs. We asked him a couple questions never responded. Went back the next day to see if this was so. We walked in no one in line. 3 white men came in he took there order before mines talked to them n waited about 5 minutes before taking my order like he wished I would just Leave. I'm so mad I didn't record this n share it with FB. Went back the third day asked to speak with the owner, I heard the cashier tell the manager I wanted to speak with him he looked up at me like what do u want ?? I waited 7 minutes while he avoided to come n speak with me, I decided to just leave n share this on yelp. I am a restaurant owner n I couldn't believe what I experienced.. African Americans please stay out of there. This is the worst experience.. someone needs to record them. There pitiful. read more
