Food was great. Service was great. I will eat here again. I read some mixed reviews here and figured I would check it out and then order at the counter once I decided which reviews I'd agree with. Someone mentioned it smelling horrible in there. Based off of my one visit (so far), I'd guess that person has never travelled to a foreign country. It did not smell bad at all. It smelled like a bunch of different spices. Come to realize that the little store that is within the restaurant sells... guess what!! Spices. Quite a selection, in fact! Stopped in here for a quick bite to eat while in the area. I know this place has been here for a long time now, but I had never been before. The young girl behind the counter was very friendly, and recommended a shish tawook sandwich, which was a chicken pita sandwich with tomatoes, onion and pickles. We also ordered 2 bottled drinks - a Diet Pepsi and an iced tea. The total for one sandwich and 2 drinks was around $22, which seemed kind of pricey. While we waited for my sandwich another customer came up to us and asked if my tea was expired because theirs was past the expiration date. Mine was not expired, but my husband's Pepsi was expired. We decided not to say anything, but noticed that upon being notified by the other customer the employee started to pull several drinks from the refrigerator and put them in a bag, which lead us to believe they were all expired. The place is bigger than I expected, with it also being a small market specializing in Middle Eastern products. The restaurant seemed quite dated inside and could definitely use a good cleaning. There was a table that had not been cleaned up since we got there which made the place look messy. Normally, I wouldn't have ordered anything if a place did not appear clean, but I took a chance anyway. My sandwich was smaller than I expected, and while it wasn't bad, there was nothing special about it. Aside from the pita, I couldn't tell you what was Mediterranean about it. Soooo disappointed. Pre-pandemic, this was my husband's and my favorite place. Shawarma chicken always juicy and delicious, spicy hummus delicious, and at that time they had a salad bar with all types of Mediterranean salads, including tabbouleh, which e really liked. My husband is now gone, and for nostalgia's sake, I came in for lunch. Couldn't have been more different. Chicken tasted... I don't know, old. It was very dry, and although I could SEE it was seasoned, I couldn't TASTE a NY seasoning. The hummus was bland, and the toum must have been diluted with mayo or something, because I could barely detect garlic in what is supposed to be a garlic spread. The cashier was literally eating In-N-Out while taking our order and looked like he hadn't showered in days. The food is still pretty good, although not cheap. Unfortunately, this place needs a deep clean. There is a slight smell of mold or something from the sewer and they desperately need to deep clean the restaurant. The tables, chairs and floors are so dirty they all have a sticky residue on them. You can see that they never mop correctly, they don't move tables or chairs. I can't eat here anymore until they clean the restaurant. Even the windows are filthy. Ahhmazing. .. let's start with the food. And not only the value but the taste. I got a chicken kabob meal with hummus. My husband got the beef with French fries. Oh M G. It was all super yummy. I know yummy sounds ridicules but it really was yummy. And filling. With a side salad. The dressing with delightful. Oh did I mention there is a little market in the building. Does no one know about this ahhmazingness going on in that building? And the service was fantastic. The girl that took our order and served us and helped us in the market. She needs a raise. I immediately threw out my food after checking in on the reviews to confirm if my experiences were similar to others recently because a lot of reg flags were prevalent. I couldn't take the risk of getting myself and people I care about sick with food poisoning. The ceiling is disgusting along with the floor, booths, doors, counters, windows, lights, register, kitchen, market - everything is sticky/filthy. Not sure how the health inspector is allowing this place to be open? Read the other reviews...and just walk in there yourself for the experience if you want lol but man it was bad. The food here is soooo good. We usually grab togo and even after a twelve min drive home, the food is still so bomb. If you love garlic, the garlic sauce is a must. If you like spicy, the spicy hummus is chef's kiss. I've tried a lot of items on the menu but I always go back to the grilled bone-in chicken leg quarters. The lamb shank is good too! The food was good. The fountain soda was terrible -- like the beverages in the machine had been watered down. Service was horrible. I called 6 times over a 15 minute window trying to get someone to pick up so I could order takeout. The phone would ring and ring and then go to VM every time. Ultimately I went in to order and then had to wait nearly 20 minutes in my car to grab the food -- could have been avoided if they picked up for me to order in advance. I have been coming to MR. KABOB for 15 years specifically for the over the top delicious SALAD BAR. I would drive 30 miles to come here, and each birthday dinner for my children was here. I came in this evening and sadly, the SALAD BAR is shut down. It used to have beet salad, potatoe salad , garbanzo bean salad, cauliflower and broccoli salad , pasta salad , and even lettuce to make a fattoush salad. And it was all excellent. Now without the salad bar it is simply "chicken and rice". Not bad chicken and rice , but certainly nothing to bypass other kabob places. I asked if the salad bar was going to come back , I basically got a shrug. The workers are all family members and the people taking orders , etc truly let you know they could care less if you are here. Used to be a great place to look forward to going too . Not any more. This place is headed to close, that is a certainty unless something changes. Our meals were very very subpar, the meat in the sandwiches was very OFF, which sends alerts, as no one wants to get sick. We decided to try this place because we were in search of some falafel. I found it on Yelp and some of the photos attracted me to this place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the cashier. We asked for a few minutes because it was our first time. When we ordered, the cashier forcefully answered our questions. She even asked to clarify what we asked with a snappy tone- almost as if she was irritated she needed to confirm what we ordered. We went to sit down and my husband walked around the little market that's inside this place. He saw some cool snacks, but we didn't end up getting anything. We waited for our order and when it came out we were ready to try! The falafel sandwich was pretty good. We weren't fans of the Baba Ghanoush though! Tasted a little different than what we've tried at other places. The location was easy to find. The actual restaurant was clean, quiet, and spacious. Would we come here again? Nice people. Service was s.....l....o.....w! It was around 1:00pm Wednesday. I was the only one in the restaurant. Ordered at the counter. A chicken shawarma sandwich combo that included fries. They had a couple delivery pickups while I was there. The shawarma was on the rotating spit, completely done, simply needing to be "shaved." 10 minutes later she shaved the shawarma, dropped the fries and made the sandwich/wrap. Normally not a huge deal, but I just drove 5 hours and was grabbing something to-go from a counter-serve place "quickly" to make a meeting. Overall, took 20 minutes to get the wrap and fries, again, I was the only one there. Doh! The sandwich and fries were good. Not great. Not remarkable. Pretty fresh, a bit bland. Wrap size was moderate. Zero salt on the fries, bummer! No salt in the bag. Would have been 80% better with salt. The tastiest part was the shawarma juice in the bottom of the tin foil wrapped around the wrap. Would I return? I'd probably return to try something different, like a gyro, if I had 20-30 minutes to wait for to-go food. The time it took was really the problem. If it took that long again and the gyro wasn't remarkable, I wouldn't rush back a third time. read more

Sunday evening was one of those tough days for this restaurant. We ordered two chicken kabob dinners; one with french fries and the other with hummus. Unfortunately, the chicken kabobs and rice were slightly undercooked, and the Falafel bread was not warm. I am not sure if the food was prepared properly, so after a couple of nibbles, we decided in our best interest to simply leave. We paid up front and left a 20% tip out of respect. (Very flavorful and tender but a little greasy) Spicy hummus- 4/5 (not too spicy but had a bit of a kick and was pretty tasty) Falafel- 3/5 (dry and not much flavor compared to the shawarma at least) All in all, this is a pretty authentic place with pretty good food because the flavorful food items balance out the bland items.
